Now that it is on streaming I’m honesty baffled how people still see a straight explanation for it. That song is SO GAY on every level! And to add fuel to the fire she just performed it a few days ago live on stage for the first time ever - in Karlie’s hometown Chicago…😊
Can someone explain how that song is Sapphic? I just read the lyrics (again lol) and couldn't find anything addressing a girl, or that seemed to be implying that, so I'm confused. Would much appreciate more info :)
@@kittu_10 It's in reference to a phrase dropping hairpins. hairpins was a person hinting about their sexuality in a subtle way. I really do love the Midnights Era. If it weren’t for you and a couple of other gaylors I wouldn’t know about all the amazing “Easter eggs” or “the girly’s” lyrical preoccupations. Yeah her love interest is a woman pretending to be a man … maybe because it would be more appropriate for her to be touching a fake man than a real man while she’s in a long term relationship with Joe?

it's really hard to NOT have sapphic takeaways from her lyrics... particularly all the "hidden love" aspects of many of her songs. It takes a lot to explain them away in a heterosexual light but the needing to be hidden part COULD also apply because of her level of fame. She's brilliant in terms of toeing the line where everything could have a double meaning. Almost all her songs become relatable to everyone regardless of gender or sexual attraction. Is she able to do that because she's an amazing lyricist? In her case, she was mournful about the fact that she was straight. Not only did she overtly talk about it but my gaydar never went off with her as it does with Taylor Swift. The amount of mental gymnastics you have to do to explain away lyrics is very queer-coded.
Maybe Swift is referring to "1950" by KP. I am not a huge TS fan, but I have always felt that she & Alwyn are each other's "beards", as they used to refer to closeted gay celebs in publicly het relations in the 50s. The book "The 7 Husbands Of Evelyn Hugo" explores that common practice.

I have fallen down this rabbit hole recently and I definitely see some sapphic themes in her music, but I don’t fully subscribe to all these readings. In my opinion the most important thing is to be open to different interpretations and try to see it from both the side of her maybe having feelings and romantic relationships with women and also her maybe simply being straight. She can also be bi and some of these being sapphic and others not. For example I can see the reading of Question … ? being Sapphic, but honestly I read it as a conversation that’s kinda rambling and she’s not really interested (“i didn’t but thanks though”). Also in Paris I can see the relation to Karlie, but I also see it as Joe and him not caring about her past and other people’s opinions. I definitely appreciate different readings! That’s what makes her music so interesting and I think it’s great that it says a lot about her as a songwriter that her work can be interpreted in multiple ways.
You may be right about much. However, Im torn on the interpretation of the song "Vigilante Shit"...bc another person sees this as about the story of Taylor helping a woman(Scooter's) wife get the material she needs to win her divorce settlement, dresses for revenge...included photos of dresses/outfits of sapphire blue with stars on them. Both women Taylor and exwife wore the dresses. Altho the song may also allude to other stories of tbe same nature. Perhaps the pride was that the wife gets the pride of winning the support and cash..suppport of a group of women, or the pride he lost in the divorce. Maybe both. Dresses for revenge - many messages in Taylor's clothes.

Lavender Haze video, her BF actor, is a real-life trans model. Thought that was just cool. I think it doesn't matter if she Bi. We love her. She isn't lying. I don't think she said she is part of the gay community ever, just an ally; however, my son is gay and isn't part of a gay community. She mentioned people came after her for hanging out with her girlfriends recently but never said she was or wasn't bi. Being brought up religious and afraid to even say you are an ally or talk about political issues would make someone secretly bisexual, even today, be a tad reprehensive about admitting to it. That said, if she's straight, she has done an excellent job (like many before her) of ensuring that she gets some of this community more interested in her. Either way, I don't care who she dates if she is happy, and we get some tunes out of it! She is the man (love her in that Wolf of Wall Street style video), she plays the man, and she is a boss. Go Taylor.
But what was the mark on the collarbone?? A hickey, tattoo(removable), bruise, scratch?? If someone threw wine on her enough to embarrass her(in public at a party or bar), what is the mark - someone got mad at it or called it out....so calling home turns to rust, as the same old excuse, and its her "red lips" talking... that's the words of her now 'star life' talking.. coming from the star she has become and the problems rising from the public scrutiny once again. Red so dark it became maroon. I look to the actual meaning of being marooned... can't get out of this situation.😢
"the lavender haze creeping up on me" feels like deciding on whether to go into a lavender marriage or not. NYC in the background reminds me of Karlie ..."the rubies that i gave up" made me think about ruby slippers from the Wizard of Oz ..and then her being dressed like Dorothy in Karma made me think of Dorothea aka her being a friend of Dorothy...last one.. "carnations we thought were roses that's us...why carnations Taylor lol?

I feel like the Taylor from the other albums try to come out as straight, for midnight she doesn’t even want to pretend. It’s a totally different Taylor that is going on tour.
Karlie Kloss showed up at the last night of the LA Eras Tour. 😮. It was the unfolding of the 1989 Taylor Version - when KK was in her life. 😮 She sat in the bleachers (like the song) 😂😮 a billionaire among the masses 😮 The tour started with her and Joe “breaking up”. Then she “had that Marty fling”. The first leg of tour ended with JK being in the crowd. WTF!?!!! 😮 What does this all mean!?!! 😮
I think a lot of those themes are about her not wanting to have kids and give up her career to be a mother…1950s shit meaning having kids imo that’s what lavender haze is about Maroon is about her real with fame imo
I think Taylor is no longer want her homophobia "fans" to see her as she wished before. I think now she more likely use them as a shield to "defend" her straightness so she could do and sing whatever she wants.
The hate comments are absurd if you get them. Might I suggest you shake it off? 🤓 Legitimately though thanks for the video. It’s also a chill delivery vs I’ve found people yell on UA-cam & they tend to get loud & very animated when talking about Taylor. Also appreciate the pic of her and Dianna Agron which tends to get swept under the rug. But come on. Nothing is straight about Agron. The breakdowns are good here. I thought vigilante shit was a reach cause I think it was about Scooter Braun. She’s commented how everyone knows he’s a cheater too. Stay safe. ✌🏾 P.S. love that 3am is the witching hour & in many ways I think Swift gives William Blake (born at 3am and shunned for it due to superstition at the time) vibes. Lastly vigilante shit is a) a badass, sexy song b) it makes me want to find & fight every male piece of shit I’ve had to deal with. Whole song has a woke up and chose violence today tone 😏
In maroon when she says “‘how’d we end up on the floor anyways” you say. Your roommates cheap ass screw top rosé that’s how’ that always made me think she’s referring to Karlie, because they were roommates, and she’s making a joke/jab at herself.
It is hard, I’m bi and my mom found out on accident. It sucked not being able to tell anyone at my school. I’ve told like three people and all of them are bi. My dad’s homophobic, my brother think it’s weird. My mom found out and she actually told me “I’m proud of you and I’ll love you either way” she didn’t tell my dad which is why I love her
I haven't listened to any of Taylor Swift's albums before but gave Midnights a try intrigued by your video. I'd risk saying there might be a bit of wishful thinking going on here but I still enjoyed your interpretation and the music is not bad too, so thank you 🙂
if you were familiar with the rest of Taylor's discography I don't think you'd have this same opinion. If you know what you're looking for you can see that Taylor has SIX albums that Karlie Kloss is one of, if not the *main* muse for. 1989-Midnights. They had an incredibly intense and beautiful sapphic love that they both still continually refer to today, despite the fact that they supposedly haven't been in contact in years (I frankly do not believe that, too many coincidences).

I would like to "apologize" in advance to the straights, I have claimed Vigilante S*** for the badass bisexual women, NO TAKEBACKS, that is the demographic that song was written for
So what are your thought on Taylor being bi? Chatting on the internet in the past to men in relationships with women, a lot of them told me their gf/wives used to like to play with other women. That is prob Taylor. She's bi. I never heard you consider 'that' as a category. What is your opinion of bi women?

I always sing in my head: “Kar’s magirlfriend”
But what was the mark on the collarbone?? A hickey, tattoo(removable), bruise, scratch?? If someone threw wine on her enough to embarrass her(in public at a party or bar), what is the mark - someone got mad at it or called it out....so calling home turns to rust, as the same old excuse, and its her "red lips" talking... that's the words of her now 'star life' talking.. coming from the star she has become and the problems rising from the public scrutiny once again.
Red so dark it became maroon. I look to the actual meaning of being marooned... can't get out of this situation.😢
Please make more analysis video of Taylor ! Thank you ❤
Karlie’s middle name is Elizabeth and her birthday is August
"the lavender haze creeping up on me" feels like deciding on whether to go into a lavender marriage or not. NYC in the background reminds me of Karlie ..."the rubies that i gave up" made me think about ruby slippers from the Wizard of Oz ..and then her being dressed like Dorothy in Karma made me think of Dorothea aka her being a friend of Dorothy...last one.. "carnations we thought were roses that's us...why carnations Taylor lol?
THANK YOU
i still haven't listened to this new album and probably won't for at least another year :V which is what happened with her last 2 albums, and i think listening to them so long after made them stew a while beforehand. anyways im rambling
these songs sound really good ;A;
The colour Lavender has always been a colour of non hetero-normative sexuality
The writers of Mad Men would absolutely have known that. How could they not?
Yeah that’s why don Draper is super gay
@@daisyjones622 Google any of: Sappho’s violet tiaras, Oscar Wilde’s purple hours, Lincoln’s streak of lavender, lavender armbands worn during the Stonewall riots, Lavender Marriage, Lavender Relationships, Lavender Menace, Lavender Scare and on and on throughout history.
No, I don’t believe that Don Draper was supposed to be gay.
However, there is plenty of evidence for the use of lavender in LGBTQ+ history.
I just know this album is so gay but this video just make me realise it was gayer and in fact probably the gayest album of her
no way, rep, folklore and evermore are all more gay. but this album is still very gay xD
I feel like the Taylor from the other albums try to come out as straight, for midnight she doesn’t even want to pretend. It’s a totally different Taylor that is going on tour.
I don’t know how I’ve ended up here but I’m glad she called all of you weirdos out.
The Lavender Haze lyrics might have been incidental if not for the color itself.
Snow on the Beach? Left out? How was this missed?
That lavender haze explanation she gave seemed so over-the-top contrived. Like she reached for the most complicated/unlikely explanation. C'mon.
Karlie Kloss showed up at the last night of the LA Eras Tour. 😮. It was the unfolding of the 1989 Taylor Version - when KK was in her life. 😮
She sat in the bleachers (like the song) 😂😮 a billionaire among the masses 😮
The tour started with her and Joe “breaking up”. Then she “had that Marty fling”. The first leg of tour ended with JK being in the crowd. WTF!?!!! 😮
What does this all mean!?!! 😮
'' Question '' is kissgate coded
I think a lot of those themes are about her not wanting to have kids and give up her career to be a mother…1950s shit meaning having kids imo that’s what lavender haze is about
Maroon is about her real with fame imo
I think Taylor is no longer want her homophobia "fans" to see her as she wished before. I think now she more likely use them as a shield to "defend" her straightness so she could do and sing whatever she wants.
no hits different mention???
The hate comments are absurd if you get them. Might I suggest you shake it off? 🤓
Legitimately though thanks for the video.
Stay safe. ✌🏾
P.S. love that 3am is the witching hour & in many ways I think Swift gives William Blake (born at 3am and shunned for it due to superstition at the time) vibes.
CUT TAY
Midnights is Taylor biography she said so. Midnights is Dianna Agron...most of their meeting at midnights..Car also Dianna
now the Joe beard is gone let's see what happens. she WANTS us to know. it must be very hard to be so gay and not out
It is hard, I’m bi and my mom found out on accident. It sucked not being able to tell anyone at my school. I’ve told like three people and all of them are bi. My dad’s homophobic, my brother think it’s weird. My mom found out and she actually told me “I’m proud of you and I’ll love you either way” she didn’t tell my dad which is why I love her
I found all these just feminist and girl power i not thought them being something else
@@AliviaHaven Thank you for providing additional insight on it. Is there any album in particular you'd recommend listening to?
@@indegrrees my fav album of hers are rep, evermore. I recommend you to listen folklore and evermore.
Dang, I'm allergic to cats... And have a dog... Now I don't feel I belong anymore... PS: No pronouns is never suspicious at all... PPS: You didn't count those 2100+ days, did you? 😀
we still love you 💜
I often joke with my friends that, my being allergic to cats, cuts the lesbian dating pool in half!! 🤣🤣 I have to seek out dog lovers only. 🥰🌈🐶
@@softtailgirl02 Dog loving lesbians are totally a thing!
@@lindamarx1256 Thanks for saying that!! Basically it’s love me, love my Dalmatian. 😆
@@softtailgirl02how about snake owners?
Lesbian Catnip?? How strange to say...not correct at all. It's a huge hug to her friends whoever they are... In many cases.
hey ,,thank you for being you,,i do like your stuff,,,;)
idk if question? is gay but "was she on your mind with some dickhead guy" sounds kinda sus to me and i listen to that song and think of it like that so idk
She needs to quit pretending and go back to Karlie!
TAY CHECK EMBER SAMPAN IN BATH ROOM
Nope. Not buying any of it.
All your points were verified when you said “interpretated”
when will yall accept that taylor is straight and doesn’t like these kinds of speculations, also if you think she’s gay why do you want to out her?
Look at Tay and a very bottle blonde clapping at the grammys
TAY,WHO IS MISS LEE??
I would like to "apologize" in advance to the straights, I have claimed Vigilante S*** for the badass bisexual women, NO TAKEBACKS, that is the demographic that song was written for
Tina Fey vibes
TAY CHECK THIS CRAMIC

🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
💖💖💖Is this channel still running? Thanks (asking for gay girlfriend)❤❤
karma is my girlfriend
So what are your thought on Taylor being bi? Chatting on the internet in the past to men in relationships with women, a lot of them told me their gf/wives used to like to play with other women. That is prob Taylor. She's bi. I never heard you consider 'that' as a category. What is your opinion of bi women?
