I love this and I love hearing your perspective and reading everyone’s comments but I think what I love most is that many of her songs have no pronouns and the beauty of that is that everyone relates to the lyrics and their own sexuality and that feeling of love and lust and desire no matter who that is. I’m personally straight and many of these songs are my favourites and I’ve always felt they are so relatable to my straight experiences and relationships and that’s what I love about her music. I think the overwhelming experience of her song writing for everyone is that her lyrics make people feel understood in their desire to be loved and seen by people ❤

I have no strong opinions either way in terms of if she's bi or straight, but I do disagree with the "leave the perfume on the shelf that you picked out just for him" interpretation you gave. The whole song is in second person so I think this line likely means the narrator bought perfume to wear for the person she's seeing, but she has to leave it on the shelf instead of wearing it because if she wears it then her scent might linger and they could be caught. Imo it's more of an expression of wishing you can express love for someone but being unable to than a queer specific thing (although that is very much a queer theme in of itself)
