@Miss Manawaka idk i just think taylor has no “peak” to reach at this point she’s already accomplished so much at such a young age that other artists wish to achieve what she has
I was speechless when I first listened to it, it was early morning for me but I immediately thought that this is the best she's ever done, it is so poignant and concise and just heartbreaking. "sometimes you just don't know the answer til someone's on their knees and asks you" has got to be one of the most gut-wrenching lyrics of all time
I absolutely love it when Taylor writes an amazing song with an amazing bridge, that’s easy to play on the piano, so you can just scream it out yourself any time until we get to see it in concert... one day
She is SO intelligent. I love that she went into detail about the songs on the album. Champagne Problems, Coney Island, and Tolerate It have stunning lyrics. It was great to hear her discuss the backstory on those. She's one of the best songwriters of the 21st century. Props to the interviewer for asking such insightful questions.
I love that he isn't focusing on Joe when Taylor brought her boyfriend up, how they love sad songs. I love that he focused on how champagne problems is a phenomenal piece.
This is no interview, just two calm and collected intellects having a deep musical 'post mortem' sort of discussion .... My analytical, overthinking brain cells feel blessed
I am hoping if Taylor Swift gets to know me I hope she loves me Davie MacLean so much she really whole heartedly want to get married to me.........I've had 2 women in my life......my deceased wife and a short failure at a second relationship.......I'm nervous about all this I'm saying
She says she wants to make a difference in the music industry for young artists - and she already has now that Olivia Rodrigo signed a deal where she owns her masters. It's so beautiful!!!!
I was so relieved when I heard she owns her masters. Knowing she’s a Taylor fan, I figured she’d never sign without full ownership of her work but you never know. Olivia is a force to be wreckened with.
I've watched a lot of interviews with other music artists, and I have yet to see one that matches the level of intellect, business/music acumen, culture, grace, and comforting casualness that Taylor presents when she gets interviewed. I also haven't seen another artist who is as _interested_ and enthusiastic about music as Taylor is. She really, really loves it. It's so entertaining to watch.
@@serenitybeats1677 Wow... so much hate and wild assumptions about people who just want to share their art with the world and make people happy. Not everyone is articulate, that has nothing to do with "craving fame & fortune". Besides a lot of artist didn't grow up the sheltered, well cared for way Ms. Swift has. Many have English as a second language. Ms. Swift was lucky with her upbringing, she could spent her time cultivating her language. (And she did and I respect that. This is not a comment against Miss swift. I am happy for her.) Other artists, however, had to spent their time SURVIVING and they still made it and now you dare to slam them because they are not good at giving interviews and infer that they don't have passion for their art? How dare you?! This fandom gets more hateful with every other comment I read.
I honestly really admire how she kind of dodged that question gracefully and refused to speak on Joe’s behalf. Maybe she knows how he feels, maybe she doesn’t, but she doesn’t share it publicly because she doesn’t want to speak for him or take away his voice in the matter. I think that’s so respectful and honestly a great display of honest love.
It’s amazing that you can almost see her excitement talking about her process and her songwriting and her artistry, and that FINALLY she’s not being asked about her ex’s and her boyfriends. I love it.
Why is no one talking about the interviewer? He did all his research and was very respectful. I felt like I was watching a conversation between two very excited and proud friends.
You can tell the interviewer really, REALLY enjoys his job and talking to her about her music and the artistry behind it and all the lines and it makes the interview even more fabulous
Very proud. I remember being 13 and waiting for Tim Mcgraw, Teardrops on my guitar and Our song to come out on Mtv when smartphones weren’t very popular yet. I followed her music journey throughout my adolescence and even resonating a lot and confiding with her music through all my heartbreaks and butterflies. Now, as a 24 year old woman, I am proud of watching her success, defeating enemies and through heartbreaks. She will always be my favourite modern poet.
I resonate with your story. I was 13 when I found her through Love Story, English music wasn't that much popular amoung teens in my country back then. And I am 23 now, grew up with her and so proud of her :) Just seeing her live is one of my dreams and I hope it comes true someday.
I remember Taylor once said that she'll keep making music for as long as we continue to tolerate her. Girl!! We're not tolerating you!! We're celebrating you for evermore ok?!! You're our favorite cardigan and we're gonna pass down your stories like folklores!
This is my favorite Taylor era. Why? Because it’s her. Raw, happy, healthy, unfiltered Taylor. None of her amazing albums are as amazing as folklore and evermore. It’s more than music. It’s more than lyrics. It’s HER. Grown, mature, ready to be herself.
I love how effortlessly eloquent she is. So erudite, so sharp, and yet so humble. A person you wish you could be friends with, and meet for long conversations in front of a fire place.
eloquent was the exact word that came into my mind about Taylor Swift while watching this interview. She’s brilliant and every word she speaks is beautiful!
Im a rock music fan, led zep, pink floyd, kings of leon, but for the last few weeks ALL ive listened to is Folklore and Evermore. Swifts songwriting and lyrics are absolutely amazing, she's the real deal and I NEED a long pond session on Evermore! Tolerate it makes me cry. Mirrorball is just perfect. August is the best song ive heard in years. Exile... love it. Margerie, Ricochet, This is me Trying, BETTY! IVY!!! I love the lyrics on Ivy. Amazing
Fellow rock fan here. I'm in the same situation here, but it's been about 2 months now! Loved them from the first listen and they only get better with every listen! Incredible.
The respect that Zane has for musicians is astounding. The fact that he actually puts in the work to really understand music and recognize the value of the people surrounding him is so rare for people in jobs like his, and it's spaces like these that let artists like Taylor actually be artists, not just celebrities
When Taylor said "This was the first time I threw the checklist away," I FELT THAT. You always knew which songs served which purpose on her previous albums, but with folklore and evermore, they felt so FREE of that standard she had been following for years!
@@rosierhehsizara3567 I think she means ( like Taylor says in the interview ) a popstar when putting together an album imagines which songs are for the chart attention ,the songs meant to drive the album to n# 1 are usually not the most emotional songs ,they tend to have easy catch phrases ,that get lots of radio play ; Shake it off , we are never getting back together etc , a mainstream singer actively tries have some easy hits ,then you have the songs meant to be concert anthems , which when you play stadiums have that big singalong effect the way long live does . Then you have the deep more emotional songs which are meant to enrich an album but people usually only discover these songs when they take the time to listen to the whole album , the songs are not the type that climb on the charts easily but tend to be the more memorable ones. With these last two albums there were no stadium bangers or easy chart climbers ,the entire album would be made up of those deeper more emotional songs that don't get easy chart attention but last way longer.
Its so good to hear an interview where the interviewer really knows and likes the work his talking about! What an amazing thing for fans! You really knew what to ask and was interested and amazed about it just like us! There's only one thing I wish you've had asked that is if she is going to do the Lover tour when everything comes back to normal and then the Folklore Evermore tour.
She will probably do a combination of all three. Knowing Taylor she will create a stadium tour that is truly magical and tell a compelling story with the way the setlist is set up along with the story boarding.
Well she said in Entertainment Weekly she'd need lots of time to think of that when that time comes. So I don't think she'd have a concrete answer to give. Still to many unknowns when live events will resume especially a stadium style show
@@GodsFaveSim I think she can do a combination of Folklore and Evermore, but not Lover. There are so many songs, I'd like every single one of them to be there, like in most of the tours.
Same but Red helped me to move on, to like let go, although I'm not totally over it but I always turn to Taylor's music whenever I'm going through strong emotions, be it heartbreak or anger or happiness🥰
@@mmmaveee4003 18th December, the deluxe edition of evermore will be released and it includes 2 new bonus tracks - the songs are called "right where you left me" & "it's time to go"
I've never been her fan (her music is not my cup of tea, that's it) but I must admit she gained A LOT of my respect this year. I decided to check Folklore and I LOVED it, so when Evermore came out I was so excited. I loved it too. I also got to love her album Reputation. It's so refreshing to have a mainstream artist with a genuine, pure passion for songwriting and storytelling rather than scandals and charts. I remember seeing her early videos on tv and I definitely have not expected her to become this huge and not lose an ounce of love for music along the way. I respect her and her journey.
@@annar6534 maybe 😂 so far I only like 3 of her albums, I didn't really like the remaining 6 albums, but who knows, perhaps I'll like her future projects :D until then I'm more of a casual listener haha xd
I love the PASSION that she conveys when talking about artist owing their work and how she’s doing whatever she can to leave the industry WAY better than how she found it. If there’s someone that can archive it, it is Taylor, and I am not trying to be like (ohh my fave is superior or she’s the music industry) no, this is something I genuinely believe, she has the power, she knows the ways, and she’s as CLEVER as a business person/artist can be. Her experiences and knowledge have set her to be in the position to be able to make a BIG positive change. There’s also the factor that she’s going against so many powerful men that get their money from exploiting and taking advantage of young naive artist that do not want the industry to change whatsoever and that is going to be hard. I hope she can surround herself with people that have the same selfless interest and they could work with her and make history together.
You know an interview was good when almost an hour has passed and you didn't even realised it. It felt like a natural conversation between them. Zane's such a brilliant interviewer, and Taylor... What a woman
Crazy how she said “The messenger often gets shot” in min 39:29, after listening to The Albatross where she says “Cautions issued, he stood shooting the messengers” 🤯
Thank you so much for this interview. It's so fulfilling to have people asking Taylor about her music and her creative process because she always speaks about it with such confidence and a joyous look in her eyes. That was really amazing!!!
And as an aspiring poet, it's important i take advice from her and I'm glad she openly explains her songs. A lot of ADEPT artists don't do that. She does not realize it but she has taught me everything i know about how to write a poem/song about your own life. Don't worry, I'm not advertising my channel.
This interview could've been 5x longer and still not have been long enough. The folklore + evermore albums were the most surprising but best things to come out of the pandemic... folklore helped me leave an almost 10 year toxic relationship. And a week after i had left and was unpacking my new apartment with my daughter and we had evermore dropped on us.... that album helped me to gain the closure that i was right to leave. Looking back now... I couldn't imagine my life without those 2 albums. The comfort they brought during such a chaotic time.... the uncertainty of the pandemic and the uncertainty of leaving a toxic relationship and not knowing if I'd be ok on my own... those 2 albums were the most unexpected yet best comfort. This interviewer is phenomenal. To actually get an interview completely about the music... Taylor has never seemed happier or more genuine in an interview until this ❤
I have never been a Taylor Swift fan even tho I always enjoyed a lot of her songs, but never was one of those people who hated on her. But then Folklore came, and I absolutely love everything about the album so much that I started to wanted to know more about Taylor, and she seems so be so wise, relatable and down to earth, someone I would love to spend hours talking about deep or random subjects. After I heard Evermore I knew I became a fan of her, and actually felt in love with her craft to the point I want her to drop more songs as soon as possible so I can heard them on repeat like I'm already doing with her two latest albums. Taylor Swift is truly a remarkable artist.
I can relate to this a lot. I essentially grew up with her hits ever since her first album but never latched on to her albums until reputation. Only then did I start paying attention to her life but I didn’t understand her that much if that makes sense. Folklore and Evermore have transformed me into a fan and now that I’m a little older I sympathize much more with story.
@ОМЕГА ДОЛАЗИ I'm pretty sure there won't be a second album. At the time when she said "Not a lot going on at the moment" the album was on production (proven by the willow and ivy image on the wall) so *she* isn't doing a lot at that moment. For the rerecordings I'm pretty sure it's also has been done days or maybe even weeks before the leak is released. There's a lot of people involved in the making of music so it's not just about doing it and releasing it, a lot of process needs to be done before the label decided to release the music.
Never been a Taylor fan, but Evermore and Folklore made me OBSESSED. Shes such a heartfelt and sensitive writer, her lyrics always feel like it's about moments in my life. I'm amazed.
so excited to hear more about the creative processes from my personal favourite songwriter 🧚🏽♂️ folklore and evermore have deeply inspired me to write so much poetry recently and omg I just love words

Did I just watch a 56 minutes and 7 seconds interview of Taylor Swift being so cute, articulate, beautiful and intelligent all at once in 1 sitting? YES!
Oh My Goddess! Re-listening to this interview in December 2023. It hits so differently. Taylor has met Justin and performed 'Exile' live. 'The Alcott' is a collaboration between Taylor, Aaron and The National. Taylor and Joe broke up. Taylor embarked on the Eras Tour which features many of the talked about Evermore songs. So much to appreciate about this interview.
And now in July 2024 and all that’s happened since: Travis and the Superbowl, winning another AOTY for midnights, the release of The Tortured Poets Department and the new Era for the tour! What a journey!!
No one cares but the fact that her and Ed Sheeran are still on good terms and in this together is one of my favourite things of 2020. They vibed so well together at the beginning of his carreer.

This is the best Taylor Swift interview I have ever heard. This is someone actually asking her the questions we all wish we could ask her about her work. Thank you!
Taylor Swift is *the Music Industry* She's one of the only artists who takes action for the future musicians. She's the definition of a cultural reset.
I love the fact that Apple Music let this guy interview Taylor Swift because he clearly is a fan. He's not just going in for one question after another but he really gets into Taylor's psyche and gets to have a very deep and interesting conversation with her about her songs and life in general. It's obvious that Taylor also enjoyed the conversation which is really heartwarming especially after seeing video clips of Taylor being disrespected by interviewers before. I wish I could talk to someone in this level of depth and interest. I envy both of them in this conversation. 💖 I never thought I'd love Taylor Swift more than I already have but folklore and evermore brought me deeper into her psyche and her heart and I'm all for it. Been loving Taylor Swift since the release of Our Song. I've grown with her and I can see how she's aged so gracefully. 💖 The thing that I admire in Taylor Swift the most especially in these two albums is when she learned how to let go-let go of things she can't control, let go of expectations she can't meet, let go of hatred she's harboured, and her letting the future unfold without having to map it all out in advance as what she used to do. I think that is so liberating and I suspect that is where most of her new-found happiness comes from.
Taylor saying that she wanna stay in forest but she was afraid because the anxiety says that she needs to change... Dear Tay, if you wanna stay in the forest for another album I'm with you, go ahead, stay in the forest it is working too well... love you queen ❤️
She has to be one of the most articulate celebrities out there especially in a long form interview like this. I've said this before: If I had daughters I can think of no better rolemodel in the celebrity world....
This is one of the best interviews to Taylor I've seen in a really long time. It's the first time in years I've seen her so honest and calm and real and comfortable. I love that for her. I could've listened to her talk about her ruminations and feelings and wiseness for a couple more hours without getting tired. It was so interesting. I especially loved to hear her decoding the ins and outs, tiny details and double meanings of some of the songs (I'd like more of that, but I'm not gonna ask, cause she's already worked way too hard). Also, I've always been quite unconcerned about Joe, but I think I'm starting to appreciate him bc of the music. He seems as insane as her (in a good way) and that's brownie points in my book
Amazing interview. Zane is not only a talented interviewer but has almost unrivalled music knowledge not only about artists but about the art. There is a dynamic between Zane and Taylor that shows such comfort, understanding and inquisitiveness that brings out things she is clearly happy to share but only in the RIGHT context. I was speechless when I first listened to it, it was early morning for me but I immediately thought that this is the best she's ever done, it is so poignant and concise and just heartbreaking. "sometimes you just don't know the answer til someone's on their knees and asks you" has got to be one of the most gut-wrenching lyrics of all time
I absolutely love it when Taylor writes an amazing song with an amazing bridge, that’s easy to play on the piano, so you can just scream it out yourself any time until we get to see it in concert... one day

Taylor Swift... so elegant, so intelligent, so witty and well-spoken.
Happiness is a brilliant song too!

post mortem you say?
I could listen to her talk for HOURS without getting tired, she's so incredible
I am hoping if Taylor Swift gets to know me I hope she loves me Davie MacLean so much she really whole heartedly want to get married to me.........I've had 2 women in my life......my deceased wife and a short failure at a second relationship.......I'm nervous about all this I'm saying

And she is so articulate and explains her songs so well.

Taylor's articulateness make interviews interesting and not boring. Most artists don't have that.
Ikr
Yeah most of them give generic, flat answers that don’t reveal anything, but she actually cares and has brains
It’s what happens when you come into the industry with an actual passion and love for the craft as opposed to craving fame and fortune
I am happy for her.)
Other artists, however, had to spent their time SURVIVING and they still made it and now you dare to slam them because they are not good at giving interviews and infer that they don't have passion for their art?
How dare you?!
This fandom gets more hateful with every other comment I read.
This whole conversation makes me feel like I'm having an honest heart-to-heart talk with Taylor. It's so therapeutic.
i absolutely resonate with this comment !!!!!!
Totally, one of the best interviews I've seen

I followed her music journey throughout my adolescence and even resonating a lot and confiding with her music through all my heartbreaks and butterflies.

12:00 there’s a german word that describes this exact feeling. It’s called “Waldeinsamkeit” and means basically “solace in the solitude of the forest”
When Taylor said "This was the first time I threw the checklist away," I FELT THAT. You always knew which songs served which purpose on her previous albums, but with folklore and evermore, they felt so FREE of that standard she had been following for years!
What are the checklists
I definitely felt that checklist present in the Rep and Lover album. I’m excited to see her future projects with this new mindset😭
Its so good to hear an interview where the interviewer really knows and likes the work his talking about! What an amazing thing for fans! You really knew what to ask and was interested and amazed about it just like us! She said she doesn’t know I think
@@annar6534 yes, about Foklore and Evermore. But I'd like to know about lover!

After I heard Evermore I knew I became a fan of her, and actually felt in love with her craft to the point I want her to drop more songs as soon as possible so I can heard them on repeat like I'm already doing with her two latest albums.

Taylor Swift is *the Music Industry*
She's one of the only artists who takes action for the future musicians. She's the definition of a cultural reset.
I really wish Zane pushed for more details on what she was talking about specifically on that topic.
I never thought I'd love Taylor Swift more than I already have but folklore and evermore brought me deeper into her psyche and her heart and I'm all for it.
