  • I show you step by step how to change the front sway bar end links in a 2007-2012 Hyundai Santa Fe. This same process will directly apply to equivalent years of Kia Sorento's.

      @@CarswithNash Hi Nash, I was just wondering if you could advise me on this. I'm getting a rear spring carrier replaced, (lower wishbone),old one rusted out. Someone told my I would need to get the alignment checked afterwards. I think this might be wrong as I'm replacing like for like, and there's no apparent adjustment. Any thoughts? Many thanks.

    • @CarswithNash
      @CarswithNash  Місяць тому +1

      @andyarmstrong1493 Yes, you're right, the alignment should not be necessary, the part should fit identical and nothing should change alignment wise.

    Thanks, your video was very helpful. Just changed both sides on my 2011 and it’s got rid of the clunk and the steering feels much better too.
    Took me a bit longer than you - ended up having to cut off 2 of the old bolts when they wouldn’t undo all the way. It’s doable with a cheater bar and I used my jack to stop the wrench on the backside from spinning.
    Your demonstration really helped and I’m glad I did it.

      Yes I very much agree with that! When I bought this one it just needed new control arms because the ball joints were loose, but then it’s just been one thing after another since. Should’ve just done the whole works at once.

    You should use another piece of wood on top of the tires to reach the underbody of the vehicle nice and snug, for extra safety in case the jack should fail.

    If you do the top first then you can pry down slightly on the sway bar with a pry bar and get to the bottom bolt with a 1/2” impact.

      Yeah I noticed that later into the repair but that first one was so rusted up there was no way it was coming off anyway.

    Great video! Ordered the exact same links (except from Amazon, the magnet Rockauto sends isn't worth the $13 in shipping), whole job took less than an hour and the car drives and sounds like new again! Thanks for the quality video!!
    I see yours has newer struts, did your coil springs on both sides snap about one full coil off near the bottom of each one at some point in the past?

    • @CarswithNash
      @CarswithNash  Рік тому +1

      I’ve never had a problem with Rockauto…🤷‍♂️ I get what I can from Amazon because of the free shipping but the Canadian Amazon is pretty limited. The springs never broke, the old struts were just worn out. Thanks for the kind words.

    I bought two that should have been different, but were apparently the same. But, they look exactly the same. What's the difference between one side and another? Also, did you ever replace the sway bar bushings? Mine are a bit loose as well.

    • @CarswithNash
      @CarswithNash  4 місяці тому

      My bushings seemed fine so I never replaced them. Make sure you have them the right way up, I think they can go on either side but only one way up.

    did this fix solve the clunk noise? I replaced my sway bar end links and it solved the clunk for ~5 months, then it came back, i replaced end links again and clunk was gone for only ~2 months. Is something causing the end links to prematurely fail??

    • @CarswithNash
      @CarswithNash  9 місяців тому

      It solved that particular clunk, I had a bunch of other ones pop up because frankly this vehicle was just horrible, I would fix one thing and three other things would break! At a point where I finally had it running halfway smooth I sold it.

    • @CarswithNash
      @CarswithNash  2 роки тому +2

      Depends if they are worn or not, mine seemed fine so I just put a little silicone spray on them to keep them from squeaking.
