    Some advice to you: when doing any work on suspension it’s much better to always lift the vehicle evenly on both sides and on jackstands, with the floor jack acting as a security support. Very important so you don’t risk getting your arm broken by a returning sway bar. Never rely on a floor jack alone.

    Great video! I like that you are clear on what to do and don’t rush. We have to change one on my moms 2010. Depending on cost we may not replace both at the same time. I’m going to look up the company you bough yours from. Going to subscribe, thank you!

    • @CarswithNash
      @CarswithNash  2 роки тому +2

      Thanks I really appreciate that feedback and the subscription. I do understand trying to save money but I would really recommend against replacing just one strut, there will be a difference between them and it could affect how the vehicle handles an evasive maneuver.

      Some advice here: never change only one side, the ride will definitely feel uneven and you could break more components along the way ending up costing more money.

      My top strut mount has rusted through and the shock has broken through into the engine bay. So I’m going to have to find a way to compress the spring before I can remove the shock as the spring is now pressed against the vehicle

    • @CarswithNash
      @CarswithNash  2 місяці тому

      @michaelbrown17 That's some serious rust! You can buy strut spring compressors really cheap, like $20 on Amazon and you might not be able to get them both in there on the vehicle, but even one should pull it down enough to get it out.

    • @CarswithNash
      @CarswithNash  10 місяців тому

      I did not notice, (or if I did I’ve forgotten since) but the arrow probably points to be outside, the top of the strut tower is not flat, so it needs to match that angle.

      @@CarswithNash wow even my tire pros use 2 impact stick steelies and alumies. 60 and 120. Wierd I live in Canada may e it's a metric thing lol. Pretty work with way brother. My 2012 has 110kms not miles on it and Hyundai said it needs struts which is a complete cash grab cause it drives like new and not 1 clunk clang or ping. Or double bouncing down the highway. I think I got another 50k in them. But that's what I do when I buy a used car I take it to the dealer and then use that as a bargaining tool. Sante fes are at the top of the heap in terms of repair cost over the 2st 10 years. Kia and Hyundai are #1 where Toyota is 5rh and Honda is 8th. Boy have they come along way. Love to see a good tranny service vid from ya. It's something I wanna do in the next few months. I had a 2103 Veracruz and that was a even nicer unit bought it for 6500 Canadian pesos drove for 40k and sold for 13500

    • @CarswithNash
      @CarswithNash  Рік тому

      @@coastalcleaningandmaintena2884 The actual spec is like 65 to 79 ft lbs, there was a big discussion about this on the Santa Fe group on Facebook and I remember someone actually calculated it based on the stud size and 80 is correct, 120 might actually be damaging the stud… Personally I do clean and oil my threads, I have had some criticism because Lugnuts are supposed to be torqued dry, but since I also live in Canada (Alberta) the rust and corrosion really affects that so if you torque it dry you might not be getting it tight enough imo, it might just be binding up on rust and corrosion. I was about 150,000kms when I changed these struts. Glad you are having good luck with your Hyundai, they do seem to hold up pretty good for the first 10 years, 100,000… but then they start to fall apart at an alarming rate like mine was doing, easily the worst vehicle I have ever owned! I have sold it so sorry there will not be any more Hyundai videos.
