There was also egregore present in the Drifter cutscene where the Nine gifted him with the Haul. There’s no way that’s not a giant egregore spore.
I bet Drifter smoked the stuff and egregore makes good weed.
@@AxisChurchDevoteehomie from what we know the LAST drug egregore would be weed. That shit would be like shooting up ecstasy mixed with DMT
Space shrooms
So.. Eggregore is the physical manifestation of the Veil's psychic connection of emotions and souls across the universe; an inherently immaterial thing made material. Wacky idea, if guardian death feed eggregore, than i think it stands to reason that the Traveler making immortal perpetually dying idiots would be the richest source of food in the universe. The traveler creates, so the veil's eggregore can consume? Wait. The whole point of "The Final Shape" is to be the last one standing at the end of the universe; which requires everything else to die...which would feed the eggregore and manifest more of it. The whole point of Destiny was for the killer Psychic Mushrooms to bloom?!?
The Witness' goal is to have everything at a stalemate, no birth, no death and no evolution
les go my own cabal army
@@stealthywolvesclanleader2750 a stalemate requires at least two parties. 'Balance' is similarly irrelevant if there are no things to balance. The Witness' goal is The Final Shape, not some sort of new age harmony.
Egregore was also in the Mindbenders Throne-World, you can see its silhouette with the Ascended Planes lightning flashes.
And there’s similar “vein-like” silhouettes in the nightmare world in the last shadowkeep mission, and I presume, duality
Egregore as q subclass would be very interesting. Controling enemies, making they attack each other, dealing danage by draining their minds. In PVP, a grenade could invert the colors of allies and adversaries and activating friendly fire. In PVE, makes enemies attack each other. "Friendly fire debuff", "contamination" debuff, like volatile, jolt and unravel, and supers with egregore around our bodies, like Venom, and some kind of shield, healing or regeneration by having egregore as "armor", or being strengthened by it. It would be amazing
The game [Prototype] has some interesting ideas that would fit in an egregore subclass
I don’t think having friendly fire is a good idea but definitely removing the red and blue of teammates and enemy players to where you’ll be guess if you’re shooting at allies or adversaries in PvP modes
@@ImTheGibby The "friendly fire grenade" wouldn't deal damage, or it could just be similar to blind grenades, but instead of a flash, maybe swapping the blue and red on teammates/adversaries and inverting the radar to detect allies during the effect
Yes 100% this, bungie hire this man. 👏
We’ve got all the building blocks for what can be an amazing new subclass concept & execution. It’s on bungie to really bring that vision into the core experience.
No. It's called strife and it's red
@@reggielacey2235accord to the leaks (which should also be taken with a grain of salt) yes. But there are still pathways to strife that could link itself to egregore.
@@reggielacey2235you got a lot of confidence in leaks buddy
To be fair, that was another youtubers theory, its propable but its not confirmed. Don’t discount possibilities just because someone told you something else.
So it's not going to happen then💀
So we’d be able to control our enemies for a short time
We could in Destiny 1 with Rise Of Iron’s “Memory of Timur” artifact!
Dont think to far into it chances are that's not our next class
@@bloodthedragon3788 Chances are it will. Think about it, both dark elements have some form of crowd control. Logically the 3rd element would have a version of CC just like stasis and strand. Makes sense for the last one which is probably gonna be named strife will make enemies aggro each other.
@AxisChurchDevotee as cool as this would be, I highly highly highly doubt this is ever going to happen
@@AxisChurchDevotee i suppose you could be right in some points of that
the line about Egregore being a manifestation of Darkness, but not pure like Stasis, and the fact that it connects minds tells me it was meant as a teaser to introduce Strand, and the idea of the Witness being a bunch of beings merged into one. If I let myself speculate a little further, it MIGHT even give us a hint at all three darkness powers, but this is probably wrong so take it as just a little bit of fun.
Egregore relates to stillness, connection, and death. When you die you're obviously still, it connects the minds of the dead together, and obviously it only has a significant effect on the dead. Egregore could have been meant as foreshadowing for all 3 Dark elements. Death (or severance, or finality or whatever word they want to use) might be a bit edgy for a rated T game, but if they go with it they can at least say it was foreshadowed a long time ago, and it ties all three powers neatly to the Veil, which is supposed to be a big cosmic mushroom that emanates massive amounts of Darkness. Plus, the Nightmares are images of the dead and they're red too, that would tie them into the elemental system more.
Egregor seems to function much like the Mycelium Network we find all across the globe, connecting vast stretches of forests together into a network. But instead of working as a symbiotic entity, it looks more like Egergor focuses itself on its subjects, like a parasitic fungy that feeds on the thoughts of its victims. If it's intentional or just a mechanism is something to ponder.
I think this is just one strand of egregore because like all fungus they have different strands different qualities but the same results and there's no wonder why it's so twisted and parasitic because that's what the witness wants I think if it was in the hands of the Guardians aggregor with function a lot differently or given to experimentation be used as some form of long distance communication over vast Networks
Thank you so much! I enjoy all your D2 vids! ❤
you know what's weird is every second session of the year always has something to do with this weird plant hmm interesting.
I'd been saying this since Season of Haunted, as soon as I read the lore tab describing Egregore as a manifestation similar to Stasis. They would not have written that if they weren't thinking of a Dark subclass involving Egregore. And in the Derelict Leviathan we find petrified Egregore, which is red. Anyone remembers what was red in certain video?
1:29 egregore works similar to how we use our eyes to absorb the difference and grow neurons to reflect the information we attach to the image or our ears and sound. Its just that the egregore is a living thing and what does it connect to? What it connects to might have those memories or whole lives integrated into it, maybe the witness is something like that.
When Eris described egregore as an unrefined Darkness power, and then seeing the pyramid ships connected through vast distances using that network it would have been a great opportunity to present it using strand, and connect those two. This also forms a nice connection with deepsight, and possibly how strand would have made sense to have been included in the WQ expansion.
Would be very interesting to see Destiny delve more into obscure and unrefined powers of not just the Darkness, but the Light as well n the melding of the two. Egregorial power not just being tithed to control but feeding upon death. Then consider another subclass formed from the Light, corrupted and twisted like the Shard in the EDT, tithed to Life and left rampant with blooming possibilities and cancer.
Both would merit very good support subclasses, either in how they twist and affect enemies or how they may aid your allies.
Honestly would be a shame if all we ever got was three subclasses from each, and didn't delve into newer aspects of Light n Dark, or go beyond
That definition of Egregore definitely reminds me of the Witness itself... "a non-physical entity or thoughtform that arises from the collective thoughts and emotions of a distinct group of individuals."
It makes me wonder if the planet where the first spores of the stuff were found might have been the Witness's original homeworld, and this is what became of all those bodies...
I always thought it would've been cool if Calus used Egrigore to splice his Legion with the leaderless Scorn. Somehow creating a new Flood like army for his Shadow Legion. Cool way to introduce a new enemy faction without reinventing/retconning established lore.
I’ll control my opponents in the crucible and make them fight for me, they magically switch sides.
Something interesting to think about is that fungi have a neural network between them which can span huge areas, but aren't really seen. What if Egregor works the same? What if all the egregor has a connection through another plane of existence, or just thoughts?
10:22 i havent looked up the definition but thats amazing. So an entity like the witness but this one takes in the dead through a different way. Collecting the differences and sharing them as well as integrating them together. What if we do that with simulations and grow them into reality? I mean it the same as our mind simulating the differences of reality through the chemicals and differences within our body and how they integrate together in the mind and then we pull them out of the differences using reality as a reflection of our mind, using the simulation as a guide like words or portions of reality that we connect and then can be shared.
I've been saying this since lightfall, all the dark subclasses are based around controlling your enemies
an interesting idea is that the icy planet was once the homeworld of the witness and since its departure (possibly due to drying the planets resources) it became that way. since egrogore likes death, it's possible that it formed when the individual beings experienced some sort of brain death before merging into one being, that being the witness. or that the egregore was used to do it. could be both idk
This some good lore and speculation.
It's fun to speculate about the possibility of a third darkness subclass ❤
Lol...I was looking at the hologram the other day on the HELM.
Id like to see Egregore tie into Nezarec, as a psychic entity that love terror and it says egregore doesn't feed on death, but the fear before death. And makes more sense since he was the one with the Veil maybe he affected that planet that Drifter was on too. On the way to earth.
Eris: " I took from her what she took from you Osiris ".
Bro that line is cold. Eris wasn't fucking around.
Too much of blue. We need some rage and pure red anger.
Egregore, resonance or blight are the contenders for the new subclasses. I hope we get at least new exotic weapons based on elements found in the verse. Special and heavy slot kinetic weapons would be a solution, to not interfere with the new subclass
Maybe the Veil and Darkness liking to combine an entire species into one entity is part of the principle of simplifying life
Egregore: Did the writers base this on Ergot (ergotamine)? A mold spore that grows on grain crops & the cause of historical poisonings / "madness" malady (in the French town of Pont-Saint-Esprit in 1951 for eg) precursor to LSD-25.
word is derived from a ancient Greek word egrēgoros which means wakeful.
That… actually seems neat
Can we make the inference that the veil communicates through egregore?? The tentacles below the veil seem to be either missing or severed maybe due to splitting with the traveler. Egregore and the veil both work around the mind and consciousness of beings. It makes sense that egregore likes death and thrives off of it considering the past attempts to commune with the veil has resulted in death. Just some ideas 🧐🤔
I guess that the witness had access to egrogore and therefore succeded in merging everyone and ishtar failed because they didnt use egrogore. Maybe its even connected to the ability to take
I'm hoping we got a kinetic super or something. Could be our chance at that Titan minigun super.
The Ice olanet that drifter visited, is actually the witnesses home world, and you will all be visiting it in final shape!
8:59 YO! I think Calus might have just mentioned the original planet where the Witness came from! When the Witness was created, its entire race died in order to create it, so maybe the forests of Egregore showed up where they all died!
I honestly was hoping for Blight powers and Taken Energy.
The witness using it to connect
A mind control subclass would be very cool(although I wish it was taken instead) but another blue subclass just ain’t it lol. I can forgive light blue and dark blue. But not also “medium blue” they should at least make our version of it red, saying it’s more pure/concentrated or something. It also needs to be the opposite of arc tho, in ways outside of just color. Solar and stasis is pretty straight forward, void is about emptiness, strand is about connection, but not sure what this is gonna be
2:00 what if psychic things are like using wifi and there would be an organ that would be like the device but in organic form.
Egregore:mind control fungus
I still think strand should've been an egregore subclass
Is "Free Will" the opposite? ( The Light ? ).
I really hope bungie uses this build up to give us a new super in final shape and have it live up to the hype
Just give us the damn Siva subclass Bungie
No.
Did Ikora use strand in this lore ?
I made an Egregore before rather fun
is it possiable egorgoe came from the planet the drifter was stuck on?? i mean he did build the darilect on said planet
The problem with this theory is how do you implement that in pvp?
New video woop
Odd subclass theory, but it's better than having Nightmare powers... Resonance on the other hand might prove some worth since what we saw in Vow raid.
its basically the stuff that was formed underneath Hawkins in stranger things
I know what you mean but it is very similar
Sounds like the gravelmind and the flood
1000th like. My life is complete
Well, to drown deeper in the darkness you need mushrooms🤭
I knew the veil was a fungus
If egregore is s esoteric term .I don'to doubt the traveler and darkness is based on gnostic mythos.
I don't think we'll ever get a 3rd darkness power. I think by now Bungie would have confirmed so. Even lore-wise I believe that Strand was the 3rd darkness power since the 2nd one was Deep Sight.
Three darkness aspects (green, blue and red) are shown together in Veil Containment and the Hall of Heroes on Neomuna. Cant be a mistake. And Destiny has always used 3 since D1. For example; Tricorn, 3 person fireteam and Solar, Arc, Void.
I just hope the 3rd darkness subclass isn’t blue. We already got 2 blue subclasses lol. For aesthetics sake.
What happens if you smoke these? 👀
Important questions first: How much Psilocybin do egregore shrooms contain?
about 350.
We already have a blue subclass
The last of us x destiny collab confirmed
It's the flood.
Destroy the veil, save the sol.
I dunno, I feel like it’s gonna be a red color, there’s two blue subclasses already. Maybe our egregore will be red?
Creepy mold?
WHAT IF the derelict is actually a dead veil..... there was speculated to be other travellers......
itd be SO funny if the final shape was the PLAYERS being able to reuse old content xD
It's a flood
And we are the gravemind.
We exist together now
Oh shit👀👀👀
So basically I can be venom in destiny 😂
Destiny 2's "Flood" anyone?
Necromancy class???? Zombie fungus= mind control egregore.
That would be dope
POV you are playing a mission with no music, *music kicks in* me: 💀
Egregore is a plant that is invasive and attacks like a parasite thats it and it also relates to Psions in a way.
We would not be able to control a plant guys we would control fear or nightmare energy since those are also mind qualities.
Hey Evaze no hate but i have to correct you....the plant isnt not called Egregore.....its called Sarcophalus.....the spores are called Egregore......😅
When was this said?
@@jonahsturdivant4488 during the season Presage came out as well as several time in the lore....prior to this mission Osiris mentions it a few times in game dialog
Also if i recall correctly i believe bungie may have retconned this but as far as i know they were separate
:)
i was here in 5 mins lol
Very clear somebody been playing the last of us at bungie get ideas lol
First🎉
First
Istfg if the next super is blue....I'm gonna be pissed. They had a theme going. Not to mention stasis and arc already are easily mixed up if it weren't for the obvious differences in weapon models and an organized super selection. Let's just add more BLUE. Why not red? Reds awesome. They could've use Siva ffs
