John Bonham's drumming is even better on the opening track of their debut album. "Good times bad times" has a base drum thundering out in 4/4 time with triplets pressed in for emphasis. Unlike now, he is doing this with one foot using only one pedal. Fools in the rain is polyrhythmic - He plays the high hat in 4/4 time with swing triplets, intermitting ghost notes with the snare in a 12/8 time. I was at that concert. It was great, but as Robert Plant later said, they were under rehearsed and compared to some of their other concerts I would agree
in the middle of a mini binge watch of your reactions to led zepp, welcome to the world of music i joined in the 1960s it still has not been beaten now at the age of 70 and suffering from tinnitus its the best excuse ive ever had for turning up the volume
I first saw Led Zeppelin as a young man in my early 20s in 1969 at the Bath Festival of Blues and Progressive music along with at least 200,000 other fans. Robert Plant was from my town in the West Midlands of England, along with many other famous bands and musicians of that era especially. It was a wonderful time for music lovers. Immigrant song was specifically about the Vikings, with their "threshing oars" From the "land of ice and snow" and the "midnight sun" emigrating around the Northern Hemisphere, also referring to the Hammer (of Thor).
This song has been used in several movies, including Shrek The Third. Its iconic opening fits perfectly in many situations. Also for The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, School Of Rock and Thor: Ragnarok.
Great reaction and comments, Rosalie! Happy to see you listen to another Zeppelin song. Hope you continue on this journey; they have lots of amazing music.
Welcome to the rabbit hole, Rosalie. Greatest songs and greatest musicianship - unmatched since. Next song? You could throw a dart, but 'Since I've been loving you' will freak you out (studio version first).
I saw them in Brisbane in 1972 and they opened with this and I could not believe how good they were--this clip was from their Sydney concert. Still gives me goosebumps after all this time.
That was absolutely cool watching the look on your face while James performed his guitar mastery during the solo. The Masters of RocknRoll. There is a song by Thin Lizzy entitled Rosalie. Cheers. LedHed Pb 207.20 🎶 🎸 🎹

Led Zeppelin are masters of musical diversity. And while they helped pave the way for heavy rock/metal, most bands following them couldn't achieve the beautiful synthesis of electric/acoustic, the heavy lead and the lighter than air zeppelin that these guys were capable of.
Even as a heterosexual male, I remember looking at pictures of Robert Plant, bare-chested, tight flared jeans, leaning back on heels, golden mane, and thinking: Oh god, he's sexy.
There are so many to look into; Kashmir, When the Levee Breaks, Good times bad times, black dog, Achilles last stand, heartbreaker, babe Im gonna leave you...
Zeppelin was so powerful and all members of the band were all star musicians. So thankful I was a teenager in the 70’s. Stones, Zeppelin, Lynyrd Skynyrd. Man - rock and roll doesn’t get any better than that!
Imagine, if you will, being used to the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, the Kinks, Deep Purple, Iron Butterfly and other groups like them, thinking you'd heard the best Rock could offer, and a friend invites you over to listen to a new album he'd just gotten. So you go to his dorm room (in College), you smoke a little very weak 1960s weed, and he puts on Led Zeppelin (I), track 1 - "Good Times, Bad Times", and when then that first track hits you like you'd just been run over by a locomotive. It was obvious from the first couple measures that Led Zeppelin was something extraordinary. So, I suggest listening to that album, starting with track 1: ua-cam.com/video/G1rJohGD9LA/v-deo.html It's a short song compared to many, so you might want to do a double response. There are so many great songs on this album, it's hard to pick one: 0:00 Good Times Bad Times 2:47 Babe I'm Gonna Leave You 9:29 You Shook Me 15:57 Dazed and Confused 22:23 Your Time Is Gonna Come 26:58 Black Mountain Side 29:10 Communication Breakdown 31:39 I Can't Quit You Baby 36:21 How Many More Times It would be interesting to see if anyone can name a bad or even a mediocre song by LZ. Thing is, they're all so different.
I love your almost overwhelming observance of the talent of all of the different members, .... BEFORE this current era of computer processed music. Talent pure. Today's "processed" artists can't sniff Led Zeppelin.
I'm British but my background is a lot more complicated, I think a lot of us can say something similar. It's so hard to emigrate these days everyone is closing the door it feels like, that's why I love to travel, I'm an adventurer and don't feel tied to any one place. Wherever I am if I'm happy...that's home. There are so many amazing, funky Led Zeppelin songs you'll love. (Slightly) less obvious ones for me are Houses of The Holy, The Ocean, and Fool In The Rain. I hope you check them out and take care!
That was the first song I heard by Zep when I was 12, in 1971. Still one of my favourites, and this is surely my favourite version. And: It is so reassuring to listen to someone from the younger generation listening to "my" music, and actually understanding nowing a thing or two about how music (and some other things) work.
If your jumping into Zeppelin...Madison Square Garden 1973 - LIVE is widely considered vintage Zeppelin....."Since Ive Been Loving You; No Quarter; Rainsong; Moby Dick; Song Remains The Same..." seriously...the entire show is a master class in Rock n Roll virtuoso.
Rosalie in a leather jacket, U are the Rocker. I'm delighted that today's young generation enjoy listening to the greatest rock band ever like me and others who were enjoying not only listening but being at their magnificent concerts.
Nice observations Rosalie, thank you. Yes, it's hard to imagine sometimes looking at old people like myself, and realize that they too once were young, and vital and full of energy and dynamism! And yes, the band, so brilliant, such good musicians and writers. The intense rhythm's in this song with it's kind of staccato feel - they were I think trying to capture the feel of the theme and lyrics of the song, which was about the Vikings - primal, raw, a bit primitive, but very powerful. That's one of the wonderful things about this band, they could do gentle folk music, they could do hard-as-nails rock, they could do soulful blues, whatever direction they wanted to go, they could go, and do it all so incredibly, incredibly well! Talking about soulful blues, here's an example to consider, "Since I've been loving you (live) - " ua-cam.com/video/4gT63xovuWE/v-deo.html Jimmy Page starts out "shredding' on guitar, but then quickly goes into what seems to me to be some very tasteful blues playing (see what you think), and continues to put on a blues playing showcase for the rest of the song. And Robert Plant gives quite a showcase on the vocal too IMO. Anyway, really enjoyed your reaction and comments, thank you!
We come from the lands of ice and snow, where hot springs grow - Iceland and Scandinavia. It's about the Danish/Norse/Viking raids and invasions of the British Isles and especially about the conquest of the Saxons in southern Britain where they became overlords with the creation of the Danelaw.
I am so impressed by your words and the use of history around the world. Nice. Your comments about age is always moving I was a young adult win 1972 and am now considered a 'senior.' Crazy,
Would love to have seen Ian Gillan wrap his vocals around this song. If you really want to be blown away by Zepp listen to the live performance of Dazed and Confused. Absolute masterpiece.
Absolutely wonderful reaction. I see myself at 14 years old searching for Immigrant Song. It wasn’t so easy back then if you didn’t know the album. We would call the local radio station over and over until they would play it.
There's soooo many Zep songs you have to hear...........Dazed & Confused, Kashmir, Good Times bad Times just to name a few. They were the" Hammer Of The Gods". When you compare what the music was like when they started they were so out there it was unbelievable. They always pushed the envelope. For example they didn't name their fourth album and the band name wasn't anywhere on the sleeve. They were told it would be a career suicide......lol
I grew up in South Florida. Pompano Beach and Palm Beach Gardens. My wife and I moved up to Milwaukee, Wisconsin two years ago. There are so many people from all over the world here. It is awesome! I work with a lot of individuals whom came from South America, Central America and Mexico. To hear their stories of how they came over here, and why they came here is quite heart-wrenching. Much love and respect to these brave and courageous people! A lot of them lived in Florida and Texas at first. They left to come to Wisconsin because of jobs, quality of life and not being in fear of being harassed by local government. They all say Florida and Texas are terrible when you're an immigrant. We left Florida because it's become an overcrowded hell hole, and DeSantis is ruining it.

I'm 73, been Rockin' with the Zepp since my senior year in high school! 🤘😊👍
After seeing your reaction I couldn’t watch another one for hours, you ,you, you good!
Kashmir, live by LZ in Knebworth in 79, is amazing, as is anything they did at MSG!
Yes
I was at that concert. It was great, but as Robert Plant later said, they were under rehearsed and compared to some of their other concerts I would agree
in the middle of a mini binge watch of your reactions to led zepp, welcome to the world of music i joined in the 1960s it still has not been beaten now at the age of 70 and suffering from tinnitus its the best excuse ive ever had for turning up the volume
History is the key. Once we forget History we are bound to repeat it.
By the way love the zeppelin reactions. You've only scratch the surface
Greatest guitar player in history!
I am
Led Zeppelin has been my all time favourite since I heard While Lotta Love for the first time. LONG LIVE LED ZEPPELIN.
I'm not into rock music, but Led Zeppelin is just brilliant
WoW Luv This!!! YAY
Your initial reaction reminds me very much of how we first reacted when this album was released. "Wow!"
Greatest band of all time.
I was 6 when zep came out and been hooked every since, and from your expression you are HOOKED also!
GOAT!
70’s and 80’s were the best times of all times and gone forever, I like to go back and freeze time
yep.....knowing what I know now
I remember seeing them live May 10, 1969 at UC Irvine, it was amazing.
I saw them in Brisbane in 1972 and they opened with this and I could not believe how good they were--this clip was from their Sydney concert. Still gives me goosebumps after all this time.
This song was written by Robert Plant 6 days before this performance
No it wasn't. This song was released in 1970, this performance was 1972, two years later,
@@paulself8698 oh pardon me, but that’s what the documentary said.
That was absolutely cool watching the look on your face while James performed his guitar mastery during the solo. The Masters of RocknRoll.
There is a song by Thin Lizzy entitled Rosalie. Cheers.
LedHed Pb 207.20 🎶 🎸 🎹
Jimmy Page the lead guitarist
Robert Plant the vocalist
John Paul Johns bass guitar
And John Bonham on Drum,
Check out their best songs Stairway to heaven, Kashmir, Since I've been loving you, no quarter and more.
And the Lemon Song!
*Jones
@@johnc7764 ups! My mistake
the good old days i miss them
Led Zeppelin are masters of musical diversity.
😂
Saw them live twice. Met Plant a couple of times via work later in my life. So proud/happy to have lived my life with this music..
You gotta see more live Zep! Live at MSG 1973!! Stairway to Heaven! Since I’ve Been Loving You! The Song Remains the Same! Rain Song!
Saw Led Zeppelin in concert at the LA Forum in 1973, they played for 4 hours, 8 pm to midnight, fantastic.
So, I suggest listening to that album, starting with track 1: ua-cam.com/video/G1rJohGD9LA/v-deo.html
It's a short song compared to many, so you might want to do a double response. There are so many great songs on this album, it's hard to pick one:
0:00 Good Times Bad Times
2:47 Babe I'm Gonna Leave You
9:29 You Shook Me
15:57 Dazed and Confused
22:23 Your Time Is Gonna Come
26:58 Black Mountain Side
29:10 Communication Breakdown
31:39 I Can't Quit You Baby
36:21 How Many More Times
It would be interesting to see if anyone can name a bad or even a mediocre song by LZ. Thing is, they're all so different.
I can name a few that are mediocre to me, but it’s all subjective.
Though I absolutely love LZ & have for about 50 years, two songs I don’t care for are. Hats Off To Roy Harper, & Candy Store.
Beautiful!
This really about the Vikings
They had just done a concert in Iceland when they came up with this one. One of their best.
Since Ive Been Loving You... Nobody's Fault But Mine.. In my Time of Dying.. How Many More Times.. Just gave you your 4 fave songs.. Great reaction
Talking about soulful blues, here's an example to consider, "Since I've been loving you (live) - "
ua-cam.com/video/4gT63xovuWE/v-deo.html
Jimmy Page starts out "shredding' on guitar, but then quickly goes into what seems to me to be some very tasteful blues playing (see what you think), and continues to put on a blues playing showcase for the rest of the song.
GOATs.
I am so impressed by your words and the use of history around the world. Nice. Your comments about age is always moving I was a young adult win 1972 and am now considered a 'senior.' Crazy,
Would love to have seen Ian Gillan wrap his vocals around this song. If you really want to be blown away by Zepp listen to
the live performance of Dazed and Confused. Absolute masterpiece.
Which live performance? The whole essence of Led Zeppelin is that it's different every time.
Who is Ian Gillan? Ha! Ha! You're hearing Robert Plant. Why would you want anyone else?
Great appreciation and analysis of these musical pioneers. Beautiful imaginative perspective on this song. Thank you, Rosalie.
You might have heard it in the movie Thor Ragnurok, or one of the Shrek movies.
Or school of rock
Absolutely wonderful reaction. I see myself at 14 years old searching for Immigrant Song. It wasn’t so easy back then if you didn’t know the album. We would call the local radio station over and over until they would play it.
Just call me old wheezer😂. Zeppelin was my teen life. Looking for a good acid trip. Glad I outgrew the partying lifestyle.
Me too
Mine too
Me too
There's soooo many Zep songs you have to hear...........Dazed & Confused, Kashmir, Good Times bad Times just to name a few.
Yep, us oldies knew how to rock out. We were truly blessed with the music that was around in the early 70s. Led Zeppelin being a great example. Nothing has matched it since.
Jimmy Page is on fire 🔥
