I can't stand the fact that he doesn't do at least a little bit of research more often. I mean it sucks... I want to see his "ah ha" moments when he learns what we've known for decades... Also I learn things I never knew before when he does some research... Still like spending my time here than with many other channels...
Mainstream media and political culture war hero fails to acknowledge 5-10,000 migrate back and forth across the border DAILY. it's called commuting to & from work doctors appointments family visits & events. Ask France/ Europe
It was also in the opening credits of the movie "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" "Immigrant Song" It was a cover by Karen O with Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross!! It was awesome!!
As Jack Black put it so well when he introduced Led Zeppelin at their Kennedy Honors ceremony….”They sang songs about love…about Vikings…….about Vikings making love.”
you have to remember that a lot of these guys back in that time these are college-educated dudes and their music a lot of times is really deep lyrically
❤❤❤ It’s not always literal. There’s subtext and metaphor and history and literary references, etc. and part of the fun is diving in and learning about the background, the history, the musical choices. It’s beautiful to me but I recognize that I’m a music geek.
John Paul Jones was the secret sauce! He was the best musician of the entire group.. and that's saying a LOT. A classically trained musician and session musician, JPJ was a great guitar player that happened to play bass, keyboards, and mandolin for the band. If you go back a listen to much of their catalog, his bass lines really define Led Zeppelin's classic sound. When people refer to LZ as a "super group", it's because all four of them were at the pinnacle of their respective professions and John Paul Jones was no exception.
Led Zeppelin are part of the 'Unholy Trinity', along with Deep Purple and Black Sabbath. All 3 bands were formed in 1968 in England. The most surprising thing about this is that the space ship they arrived in has never been found
@AprilJMoon. It's hidden in the dark depths of one of the woods in England's New Forest. We have to go to it 4 times a year to make sure it's all still in working order. Funny enough it still looks and starts up exactly the same as when it landed. But "Shush" nobody else must know.😂 Time for me to put down the joint and take my proper meds. Oh bugger! ✌
I saw Led Zepplin at The Chicago Stadium in 1977 , Lucky I got tickets, They sold out 4 shows @ 18,000 seats each, that's 72,000 seats, in less than a half hour.
I saw them at Madison Square Garden the same year. I have never seen such tight security at a concert in my life! I had my ticket checked 6 times before I got to my seat. There had just been a riot at one of their shows in Tampa, Florida because of a rainout. They weren’t taking any chances of a repeat of that, even though MSG is an indoor venue. There were cops all over the place. I was in an orchestra seat, and if you ventured beyond your little section, the cops would rudely push you back where you “belonged”. Never had that happen, before or since then. On top of that, there were idiots in the upper seats throwing firecrackers down on us below. Some jerk hit Jimmy Page’s hand with one at the following night’s show. Crazy times. 😂 Other than that, it was a great concert. Jimmy’s violin bow solo while surrounded by a swirling green laser pyramid was particularly memorable.
Best version!! Just so you know, in the 70's Led Zeppelin was the most pirated band ever. People were bringing 16 mm movie cameras to their shows. There are tons of pirate videos out there. So when they made this DVD, like in 2010, Jimmy Page (lead guitar, chief of the band) compiled pirate videos to make THIS video. He says he always loved the pirate videos of their concerts.
The singer Robert Plant is very interested in early British history. This is about the Scandinavian viking raids and invasion of the British Isles from 794 AD . The occupied north east england ,northumbria, for several hundred years . Led Zep had been doing concerts in Iceland and apparently had had a very nice time so they wrote this to celebrate . I also think you should do Since i've been loving you the live at Madison square garden 1973 performance next , you'll see their blues influenced side but if you want to go full on rock Black Dog , rocknroll and heart breaker all from the same concert. You need more led zep resistance is futile !!!
The Led Zeppelin 'Celebration Day' reunion concert in 2007 at the 02 and their live performance of 'Kashmir' is a must watch/listen. The drummer that day is Jason Bonham, the Son of their deceased drummer, Jon Bonham. The whole gig was awesome.
I always loved the version of "For Your Life" from that concert. And lets be honest, that who show kicks so much ass its like Zep never stopped. They were magic on stage once more, so incredible!
Use of the song in media Led Zeppelin originally denied Richard Linklater permission to use "Immigrant Song" in School of Rock (2003), but star Jack Black was able to convince them by making a video of himself performing the song.[24] In the movie Shrek the Third (2007), "Immigrant Song" appears in a battle scene involving the character Snow White.[25] A cover of "Immigrant Song", produced by Atticus Ross and Nine Inch Nails member Trent Reznor with vocals from Yeah Yeah Yeahs lead singer Karen O, plays in the trailer and throughout the title sequence of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2011).[26] "Immigrant Song" was included in both the trailer for Thor: Ragnarok (2017) and twice in the film itself, due to director Taika Waititi's suggestion of the song from the time of his first involvement with the film and to the persistent efforts of the movie's music supervisor Dave Jordan.[27]
Many bands have been chasing the mighty Zepp for years no one is close carry on soldiers I respect the chase Led Zeppelin the greatest band ever period.
Led Zeppelin was like the Beatles of heavy metal. Having grown up at the time there was nothing ever like this before. Every album they put out was excellence and originality. Go through their library I'm sure you will agree. Jimmy Page was one of the original rock and roll session players like Eric Clapton.. honestly the first time I heard this I was a young teenager and I almost had a heart attack lol after this the biggest thing was Black Sabbath and then after that was Metallica in my opinion
may I please highly highly highly recommend that you react to Zeppelin's live version of "since I've been Loving you"? you'll see a blues influence , amazing amazing guitar work it's just a beautiful piece
"Valhalla I am coming" should have given it away, frankly... Edit: "tribal war feel" - yeah, you got the essence, basically. Check out the studio when you get a chance.
This song was about the Vikings and their raids in England. They had been touring in Iceland and were inspired. A lot of the bands in the 70's were well read. It was a much different time. Zeppelin influenced a lot of bands including Rush before they became more into Prog Rock. I got to see the mighty Zep in 1970 when I was 16.
I love Led Zeppelin...Jimmy Page was my first favorite guitarist... when I started playing. I was 13. I still love them, but they weren't my favorite live...they were just SOOOO good in the studio. Part of it is layering... it'd probably take a 26 piece band to reproduce live what they did in the studio.
I was 6 when I heard this in 1970 when our babysitter brought the album over and played it on our living room HIFI. I was stunned. I am now a 58 year old grandmother of 3 and life-long drummer thanks to Bonzo!!!
This is EXACTLY the one to choose! I feel electrified every time I watch this video. It's almost incomprehensible how good this band is. Those drums - Jon Bonham, that electric guitar - Jimmy Page, that bass guitar - John Paul Jones, and of course, the insane voice of Robert Plant. I don't think there's ever been any band that can come close to the cohesiveness of each of the parts. Plants' voice is like an instrument of its own. They have such an extensive catalog. Thanks for playing this one. It gives you a perfect example of what this band can do. And there's more in store. A rabbit hole I think you will find almost addicting. I will always be completely pissed at myself for not going to see them back then. It's not like I didn't have the chance.
You need to hear that sound in the beginning in a stadium like this, sun beating down, surrounded by crowds of strangers that you somehow know, when your barely 18, and just trusting the universe.
This was in the title sequence of "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" - also in "Thor Ragnarok", "Shrek 3" and "School of Rock"... There might be others.
We got to get you a weave or a wig or some braids or something because you are a headbanger at heart...that head gets to going and that lip curls up and you need to stand up, turn heavy metal/rock way up loud and bang your head till you are dizzy hahahaha and then you FEEL the music in your head, heart and whole body...it's a different experience when the blood is rushing to your brain to the beat. :)
This concert was at the Cricket Grounds in Sydney, Australia. BTW, LET IT EFFING PLAY!!! This song has absolutely NOTHING to do with the current situation at our Southern border. As many have noted, it is about the Vikings invading England, but written during their visit to Iceland.
Before a movie (don't ask me, cause I have no idea which one -- Hammer of the Gods lyric along with the land of ice and snow and then Valhalla, was it a Thor movie????) brought this to a younger generation, my son asked me why I knew all these songs on radio. It was about 5 years later, and he asked me if I knew the song and played ..... I'm thinking sometimes it was never my husband or my influence on this kid :) They always wrote about the more obscure, but more than the singing (to me) it's the band that pulled me in. If I get the meaning, great...if not, I'm ok with that too because dayum!
It was wonderful watching you react to this for the first time. I grew up out in the country and my dad used to wake us up blasting this song - the whole album - at top volume. I actually loved starting my day with a Viking war song :D If you enjoy Led Zeppelin so far, You should Check out Black Dog. The live at Madison square garden footage is good, but you should also check out the official audio. Robert Plant's vocal performance on the Album is awesome .
Led Zeppelin's lyrics are seriously deep. They even have another song that has lyrics in it about Mordor and Middle Earth and golem. I can't remember the name of it right now because I just had a brainmeld but you absolutely must do Stairway to heaven.
This song was in School of Rock. Also the brother in the Police Academy movies who does all the crazy voices did a bit about this song in his stand-up routine.
We come from the land of the ice and snow From the midnight sun where the hot springs flow This is literally Iceland and my country was the inspiration after they came to Iceland back in the seventies.
The band had toured in Iceland, & Plant anyways became fascinated about the Viking lore. This song was written kind of as a joke, but became very popular. It’s been used to some extent in several movies. Though everything they did is amazing, try Earls Court (1975) In My Time Of Dying, Page plays the hell out of a steel guitar. At Knebworth (1979) Achilles Last Stand* In The Evening & Kashmir. Anything from MSG (1973), is exceptional. A great studio only song is, You Shook Me. Thanks for your reaction, & keep going down the Led Zeppelin rabbit hole.
I love watching your Led Zeppelin journey. They were definitely influential on many bands. The only movies I can think of off hand are Thor Ragnarock , Shrek and School of Rock. I’m sure it’s been used in other things as well.😊
It’s been in several movies. The one that sticks out to me is when it was in the third Shrek movie. Snow White was preparing for a battle and kicked it off with Plant’s yodel.
That yell is a Viking war cry. If you listen to any Norse music, you’ll hear a lot of them (though maybe less epic than Robert Plant’s. More authentic, but not more epic!) ❤️🎶
Led Zeppelin originally denied Richard Linklater permission to use "Immigrant Song" in School of Rock (2003), but star Jack Black was able to convince them by making a video of himself performing the song.[24] In the movie Shrek the Third (2007), "Immigrant Song" appears in a battle scene involving the character Snow White.[25] A cover of "Immigrant Song", produced by Atticus Ross and Nine Inch Nails member Trent Reznor with vocals from Yeah Yeah Yeahs lead singer Karen O, plays in the trailer and throughout the title sequence of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2011).[26] "Immigrant Song" was included in both the trailer for Thor: Ragnarok (2017) and twice in the film itself, due to director Taika Waititi's suggestion of the song from the time of his first involvement with the film and to the persistent efforts of the movie's music supervisor Dave Jordan.[27]
You need to check out their concert movie The Song Remains the Same. I think it will blow your socks off. It's 3 nights recorded in Madison Square Garden.
Everyone has suggested LZ tracks for your consideration. They are, by and large, bang on. But you have to keep in mind that the lads pushed a whole bunch of material out the door in a very short and I worry that their first couple of albums get overlooked - particularly the first one. This album, called "Led Zeppelin" (because they had exhausted that month's allocation of creative genius on the songs), hit an unsuspecting young barely teenaged boy like a heavy hammer. And the first track on this first album ("Good Times, Bad Times") set the tone for musical aspirations around the world. Mr Page playing every note on his guitar - twice, Mr Bonham maintaining the beat (what beat? which one do you prefer - never mind, I will play both of them) (check out the triplets! with the foot!), Mr Jones playing everything else, and Mr Planet throwing his voice at the back wall of the venue (but Robert, we do have amplification. hey, I got this). When these guys got their act together, the weather systems around the globe got out of the way.
It's about Vikings. Not vilifying immigrants at our border. They liked the Nords legends
Knowing they were into mythology and fantasy helps a lot. Oh and lots of sex
The name of their book"Hammer of the Gods"....they had some wild antics on their tours !
Plus they were British, so,
This song was featured in Thor: Ragnarok.
Those scene's gave me chill's
And Shrek with Snow White
Which was based, given the lyrics
Also School of Rock with Jack Black
It was also in the opening credits of the movie "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" "Immigrant Song" It was a cover by Karen O with Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross!! It was awesome!!
This is basically a "Viking War Chant". The Immigrant is Viking Warriors going to England lol.
The song was written during the band's tour of Iceland so it's obviously about the Vikings.

There's something both terrifying and thrilling about this song. And the relentnessness of Bonham's drumming is just perfect.
Robert Plant, one of the best voices in Rock!
Yep You are correct Led Zeppelin is THE most Influential & THE most Imitated Band
Led Zepplin = Best drummer, best guitarist, Top ten basest, and The Best frontman vocalist. = GOLD
Zeppelin. Bassist.
john paul jones was much more in the band than just a great bassist
John Paul Jones was the secret sauce! He was the best musician of the entire group.. and that's saying a LOT. They are extremely overrated.
@thestonedgeek8928 You must be a jealous American who is extremely envious of the British who invented heavy rock/metal including Led Zeppelin 😊
At one time in the 90's, I remember an article talking about sampling in Rap. Led Zeppelin was the most sampled artists in all of Rap at the time.
Yep! Especially when the levee breaks!
Seems like a field of goats it should be lol. Nicely put though.
Led Zeppelin are part of the 'Unholy Trinity', along with Deep Purple and Black Sabbath. All 3 bands were formed in 1968 in England. The most surprising thing about this is that the space ship they arrived in has never been found

Lyrics might help. But this song about the invasion of the British Isles by the vikings, told by the Vikings. Middle Ages
Lyrics would DEFINITELY help. Not sure why he doesn't have them up all the time.
It was in Thor: Ragnarok
"Hey, Hey What Can I Do" is a great song by Led Zeppelin
Probably the greatest Rock song of its time ever. Led Zeppelin the GOAT of that era for sure!
I saw Led Zepplin at The Chicago Stadium in 1977 , Lucky I got tickets, They sold out 4 shows @ 18,000 seats each, that's 72,000 seats, in less than a half hour.
I stood in line and got tickets to see Led Zeppelin in 1974. It was at the University of New Mexico arena (the Pit). Best concert I have ever seen!
I praise you both for experiencing the Legend in the 70s
I was there too. OMG Dad's friend son took me I was young 14.... First Concert A lot of memories
I saw them at Madison Square Garden the same year. I have never seen such tight security at a concert in my life! I had my ticket checked 6 times before I got to my seat. Jon Bonham(Drummer) one of the Goats in a sea of many Goats.
Bonham is STILL my favorite drummer...
i second that.
The goat of goats when it comes to drummers.
Nah Neil Peart for me
@@rimskykorsakov2892 Peart is my second favorite!
I get technical superiority...but Bonham hits me in the DNA different.
It was also on Shrek lol
Minnesota Vikings run out to field to this song and when we score it’s Let’s go Crazy rip Prince

When The Levee Breaks - my absolute fav Zep track!
They are the greatest rock band of all time
yep
this one of my favorite Led Zeppelin songs
“Since I’ve been loving you” live at Madison Square Garden by the Led is chefs kiss to live performances and great track
The singer Robert Plant is very interested in early British history. This is about the Scandinavian viking raids and invasion of the British Isles from 794 AD . Zeppelin is the sound track to my life!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great song; great reaction! Love hearing Plant scream! Agree with other comments “Black Dog” is one of my faves! ❤️🔥✌🏻🫶🏻
This is about Viking/Norse We can from the land of the ice and snow...

That's my very favorite version of Kashmir!
I bought the guitar because of that... Red Les Paul Classic.
Can you imagine being part of the audience . Having these guys come out and blow you a way !! True rock and roll 🎸
Use of the song in media
He made a video of him AND the kids in the movie, singing and then begging Led Zepp to use the song.
Many bands have been chasing the mighty Zepp for years no one is close carry on soldiers I respect the chase Led Zeppelin the greatest band ever period.
Love how much Bonzo mixes up his beats over the same rhythm.
Led Zeppelin was like the Beatles of heavy metal. Having grown up at the time there was nothing ever like this before. Every album they put out was excellence and originality. Bwahaha
Naw school of rock for sure 😂. School of rock brought this song back to the masses
Or Thor trailer @@Chefbwest
Lol😂😂😂😂
😂😂😂
Communication Breakdown is smoking by Led Zeppelin!!
may I please highly highly highly recommend that you react to Zeppelin's live version of "since I've been Loving you"?
you'll see a blues influence , amazing amazing guitar work
it's just a beautiful piece
That sound is his voice. Amazing pipes!
Classic. Total classic.
It’s about Vikings
"Valhalla I am coming" should have given it away, frankly...
Edit: "tribal war feel" - yeah, you got the essence, basically. Check out the studio when you get a chance.
Spot on on your interpretation.
The rock sound w/ the lyrics are top notch as well.
"Kashmir" is a must to go w/ this one.
Now check out Black Dog
Right?! And about 40 more musts....
I second that!
That sound you make knocking your shin on the coffee table
Or stepping on a LEGO.
Talk about lightning in a bottle.Hard to believe that like 18 songs off there first album are still played on classic rock stations daily.
About vikings, yes. This song was in the Thor Ragnarok movie - when Thor was doing coming to battle.
I love Led Zeppelin...Jimmy Page was my first favorite guitarist... when I started playing. I was 13. I still love them, but they weren't my favorite live...they were just SOOOO good in the studio.

Pure music - no synthethisers or digital. LOVE 💕
You need to hear that sound in the beginning in a stadium like this, sun beating down, surrounded by crowds of strangers that you somehow know, when your barely 18, and just trusting the universe.
have you noticed how Bonzo is about a half step ahead most of the time. He was the driving force behind that group in my opinion
From an interview that i watched Bonham had a normal base pedal. Players today can't do that - they need the chain pedal and still can't keep up
From this to Stairway to Heaven. Zeppelin was the best. Such a sound. Headbangin music.
This song is featured in a few movies. Yes, Thor Ragnorock, but also Shrek and Jack Black sings this in School of Rock.
Zeppelin has been n prob always be my favorite band. If I'm jamming to this my mood is on point that day lol. .
Communication breakdown is my favorite Led-Zeppelin. song.
Lyrics needed for this, but it’s a Norse legend about Vikings
This was in the title sequence of "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" - also in "Thor Ragnarok", "Shrek 3" and "School of Rock"... There might be others.

This is fire! I was fortunate to see them live in the early 70's in Mobile..they played for 3 hrs!
That sound hammered it home into a solid gold hit.
This is my all time favorite LZ song.
It was wonderful watching you react to this for the first time. I grew up out in the country and my dad used to wake us up blasting this song - the whole album - at top volume. I actually loved starting my day with a Viking war song :D

Greatest group to ever do it..period
Check out "all of my love"
Robert plant wrote it for his son that died"
It's so heartbreaking about his son and Eric Claptons son Connor

My favorite Zep song. Have a listen to the studio verdion. You will absolutely love it!!!
Goats of rock!
Now you have to listen to the goats of prog YES and a song called Roundabout off the Fragile album ✨️🙏✨️
I love watching your Led Zeppelin journey. They were definitely influential on many bands. The only movies I can think of off hand are Thor Ragnarock , Shrek and School of Rock. I’m sure it’s been used in other things as well.😊
a perfect match of guitar riff and lyrics
Led Zeppelin is the best Rock and Roll band
"Shrek" is one hell of an action movie bro! 🤣
Legendary
That opening was also in the last Shrek movie as well.
Simon and Garfunkel "Richard Cory"...Great message like "The sound of Silence" It fits today's headlines
It’s been in several movies. The one that sticks out to me is when it was in the third Shrek movie. Snow White was preparing for a battle and kicked it off with Plant’s yodel.
if jon bonham was rowing those oars , they would of been over to england in double time
if you haven't listened to the Zep song 'When the levee breaks' check it out, totally different emotion and vibe, but just as good
You NEED to check out Led Zeppelin"Achilles Last Stand" live at Knebworth in 1979
Valhalla is the Vikings heaven, when he says Valhalla I am coming home. For sure about the Vikings.✨
You gotta hear Their song Kashmir, it's so good!
That yell is a Viking war cry. If you listen to any Norse music, you’ll hear a lot of them (though maybe less epic than Robert Plant’s. More authentic, but not more epic!) ❤️🎶
Try their songs, Kashmir
Since I've been loving you
Dazed and Confused
Next reaction could be "Since I've Been Loving You" live at Madison Square Garden! Then you will truly get it😊
Led Zeppelin originally denied Richard Linklater permission to use "Immigrant Song" in School of Rock (2003), but star Jack Black was able to convince them by making a video of himself performing the song.[24] In the movie Shrek the Third (2007), "Immigrant Song" appears in a battle scene involving the character Snow White.[25] A cover of "Immigrant Song", produced by Atticus Ross and Nine Inch Nails member Trent Reznor with vocals from Yeah Yeah Yeahs lead singer Karen O, plays in the trailer and throughout the title sequence of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2011).[26] "Immigrant Song" was included in both the trailer for Thor: Ragnarok (2017) and twice in the film itself, due to director Taika Waititi's suggestion of the song from the time of his first involvement with the film and to the persistent efforts of the movie's music supervisor Dave Jordan.[27]
Pegasus, MUST HEAR Zeppelin songs: “KASHMIR” and “WHEN THE LEVEE BREAKS”; studio versions. Pure perfection 🔥🔥🔥
Jimmy Page and Robert Plant wrote this ! It is amazing! Great reaction❤
Led Zeppelins best stuff is their blues songs. Since I've been loving you.
The song was in "Thor Ragnorok"
Your favorite Led Zeppelin song is the last one you listened to. The greatest band to ever grace the stage.
