I really enjoyed this video. I’m 62 years old and my dad farmed with 2 M farmall’s back in the 68,69 until he bought a new 3020 JD. The M would pull a 16 disc harrow. I remember plowing late at night with my dad on one and I’m on the other. It was really cold that night plowing and I had school the next day and I would see the lights of the M headed my way thinking my dad ready to head home but then he would hit the brakes and back the other way. Finally after another hour my dad pull up on her s M and stop me. He got off his tractor and the muffler and exhaust glowing and he lit his cigarette off the red glow. He ask me if I was ready to go home and I said yes. He said well take off home on your tractor. We were about 6 miles from home. I remember pulling the M in fifth gear and headed home. The m would fly in fifth gear. My dad and I often talk about farming with the M. My community during those day’s just about every house or neighbor had a M in the shed. We also planted with a 230 farmall and he still owns it. Thanks for the great video.
This has been a fun series to watch. You guys are very talented and have done a good job explaining all aspects of the process to get this tractor rebuilt. Thank you for taking us along for the ride.
The only thing better than having watched this project from day 1 is the first start! The journey has been GREAT! Congratulations and thanks for bringing us along!
Gosh. Did this bring back the memories. I hayed summers with my two cousins and my uncle. One summer we put up 52 haystacks. My older cousin Bob ran the M with the "farmhand". My cousin Roy and I each ran an H with a buck rake on the front. My uncle Martin was on the stack stacking the hay. This took place outside of Billings, Montana during the fifties. I am eighty one years old. My other rancher uncle ran Deere's which offered a continuous source of friendly bander. 😊. We referred to the Deere's as "popping Johnies". Thank you for the memories.
You two are an awesome pair when it comes to your knowledge of mechanics. I had just as soon have tractor that the two of you had rebuilt as a new one. I have watched this process from the beginning. Excellent!!
Starts right up with just a touch of choke. Idles and runs up like it's in perfect tune right out of the gate. Great oil pressure, no leaks, everything functioning. Couldn't be better. Good job!
The Super M sounds sweet, nice rebuild guys! It's nice to see someone that knows how to set things up BEFORE trying to start the motor. The number if times we see people having to swing the dizzy, change the leads or pour gallons of fuel down the intake and struggling to get it to fire after a "rebuild" is beyond a joke. Loving the build series, just wish I had the room to do one myself!
That is how a Super M sounds! Nice running engine. I grew up on a Super M-TA and a Super H in Chippewa County, MN. Both great tractors for their day. It shouldn't leak after the meticulous care you took in your restoration. Nice job!! I will look forward to see it pulling a 3-16 plow. Senior knows his IH tractors of that vintage from the engine rebuild on up. A special hat tip to Senior!!
Love the attention to detail. For what it is worth---An old fire extinguisher filled with oil and charged with air can be used to push oil through the engine before start up. Did that for years and never failed. Great video and build.
I really enjoyed this project. I’ve been watching since on lockdown in March. It is no surprise the M started on first attempt. The attention to detail made all the difference. 🤗
First starts always make me nervous and giddy. They say it's as close to the relief of childbirth a man will ever know to hear his hand built engine come to life. I say it's better, I don't have to change diapers on the engines I build, or pay for their college.
Having been a heavy duty for 47 years and doing first starts sometimes five or six in one week I just don't get a thrill anymore, don't know why . This one went the way they all go if you did it correctly. Good and proper job.
Yes, there’s nothing quite like the relief and excitement of hearing an engine you tore down to the bare castings and rebuilt with your two hands roar to life; got to experience it myself in Vo-tech school with an older E-250 box truck with a modular 5.4L gas V8; setting the timing chains on those is not for the novice.
@@thomaslemay8817 Hmm. Five or six first starts in one week! That requires a lot more info. Hard to believe you would have done all the rebuilding of 5 or 6 engines yourself and then start them all in the same week!
You guys are outstanding! every time I fidget with my bicycle my clothes, my hands, everything ends up filthy. You rebuild, repaint & redo a whole tractor and not even our fingernails get blackened. One more difference between those who know and those who don't... The 55 episodes flew by, eager to see the few remaining ones!! Congratulations and thank you for the very instructive and interesting uploads!
Love it. About 2 years ago we rebuilt our Super M-TA. Not as pristine as yours, but she is still one of our work horses on the farm so it's good enough for us.
Brings back memories of my childhood on the farm. Grandad had an M, one of those funny looking offset A's, and a Farmall H in the tricycle configuration. First tractors I eer drove. I wish they were still around so I could bring them back to their glory..
Beautiful "M" This restoration looks as good as it gets. Tractor looks showroom fresh, outstanding job guys. Tractor also sounds great. Have a lotta fun with it. Thumbs-Up!!
EXCELLENT JOB!!!!! Squatch Sr. & Squatch the ol' M started a lot easier than I thought it might've for the first time. Really looking forward to seeing all of the tin work back on it shining in the sun.
She looks good in the sunlight, fellas! Sounds good, too! The meats on back look real good, too! The M's typically need a little choke off the get-go in my experience. Lot of displacement to fill. Doesn't smoke as bad as the H, but then again I was running 2-cycle in the H! LOL. "It'll knock once it warms up!" They always do, don't they? Lol. Nice work. Let's get her decals on and take her for a rip!
Fantastic job! I used the M & H the w-4 off the lot of our dealership in the early 70’s picking rocks on our land. Could get off the machine & throw rocks in the hopper while following the tractor at an idle
Sadly I've rebuilt engines that didn't start on the first try. To have one run as good as this one does show skill and dedication. I commend you and senior for a job extremely well done. I am sad when I realize that this series is coming to a close. Aha, we have the 1113. Thank you for another great video.
I didn't have any doubts about it not being less than perfect. Now comes the toughest job of all ,getting it dirty the first time. I enjoyed all 55. Thanks for sharing
At 2:00, The TITLE Theme from ROCKY BALBOA came to mind.! Rolled into the sun for her premiere.! Thank you BOTH for taking me back home in the 60's... Where's your photo tachometer.?
Damn that tractor looked good in the garage but even better outside. Runs as good as it looks too. It's a lot of work to rebuild and paint a tractor but Sr has a tractor both of you can be proud of. Good choice not putting the loader back on, sometimes setbacks are a good thing. Now you need a plow and a disc all painted up to pull behind it. Hahaha Keep smiling. PS I did hook up my snowplow and even used it. far too early for that.
Beautiful job, nothing like I’ve ever seen before, I commend you both! Words like meticulous, precise, exact, detail to the highest standard also come to mind and your work is now the benchmark for all future rebuild enthusiasts. Thank you and I salute you both.
That is a thing of Beauty!!! Sounds great, Looks great....Thanks for taking the time to video this process. I will be looking to find a Super MTA this spring!
Great work Squatch and Senior! She sounds great. It's so rewarding when all those months (and videos) of hard work pay off. Now it's time to hook her up to a 3-bottom plow and turn her loose in the field.
Beautiful sound to hear your fresh rebuilt engine crank up. I still can hear the M I rebuilt on its first start. One person won bets because I started it by hand cranking her. She hit and ran on the fourth pull. There ain't nothing like it.
Looking & sounding great. Great job and happy for you both. Your father must be so proud to see it back to better than factory condition. Sadly my dad had passed away before my brother restored our (one family owned) Farmall H to multi show class winning condition. He even restored the Hesford winch and painted it in original factory colours. Your Farmall runs as sweet as his. Well done.
Good job guys!! I have a super M with power steering and it runs off the live pump useing a proportioning valve to reduce the flow of oil to the steering unit. I'm 72 years old and a M is much more fun to drive with power steering.
As quickly as it started and as sweet as it first ran I knew your timing couldn't have been far off . A very beautiful job of restoring. With the belt pulley it shows they ment this tractor to preform many jobs.
You pair work so good together. My ow father had his own problems......... But I was lucky to have an uncle who took me thru the basics of mechanical work and a bit of lathe work. Cherish what you have guys. God bless Mark Dombrowski

Congratulations, great work. It’s absolutely beautiful and sounds great. Thanks for including me in the restoration. It’s been a great distraction during COVID.
Something you said brought back a fond memory of a engine rebuild in my daddy's pickup upon completion of cracking it up warming it up making sure everything was okay my dad turned his back and I placed a fresh quart of oil behind the seat and we shut the truck down cleaned up and then we got back in the truck to go see my uncle we arrived at my uncle's house I walked with my dad through the garage and into the backyard and I stopped at the garage door in the back my dad proceeded to my uncle which was tinkering with a lawn mower I turntable ran back to the truck pulled out that fresh quarter oil crawled under the truck dumped the quart of oil on the ground got back out put the empty bottle behind the seat closed the door and wouldn't you know it they come walking around the corner just as I stood up that was a close call I swear to God my dad look like he was ready to cry when he saw what was on the ground after he cranked the motor up to show my uncle I swear to God I thought my dad was going to beat me to a bloody pulp over that
That is terrific! Looks and sounds great. I have enjoyed this series and the results are wonderful. I still smile when I see a spark-ignition (gasoline/petrol) tractor. Here in Europe virtually all tractors are compression-ignition (Diesel) engined. Thanks for the great videos.
