Nice there is good aftermarket support for those tractors. Even better when something aftermarket actually fits like it is supposed to!

Dad has a tricycle Super M they use for running augers, pulling empty gravity wagons around, and other small tasks. It used to be one of the main work horses on the farm when I was little. Used to pull a 10ft disk with it, loaded wagons ect. It's got power steering, hydraulics, and a canvas half cab (it covers each side, and helps direct the engine heat onto the operator).

I was about 7 years old when the first Super M appeared in our area; I thought it was the most awesome looking tractor out there (until the S-MTA appeared). I own a 1948 Farmall H with a Hesler 9-spreed and it is a lot of fun to drive in our local parades here in NW Illinois. Keep up the good work and be safe.

Well how about that you were right that was lucky that the weld let go know before you completed the hood and put it in service ! The two tone manifold looks great, and you shouldn’t feel bad about trying to use a part that seems it’s fine because I can imagine how much that new manifold cost and how much the complete restoration and rebuild cost so nothing wrong with reusing a part that seems OK , so don’t worry about that I am quite sure everyone gets it!😀 . I can’t believe how much work you do! You always have a project going and that’s great! I love accomplishing as much as I can before the weather turns cold!

Hey - at least you didn't have to take the trans cover back off! (LOL). Better to find it now than to be on your first pass plowing and then the pipe snaps and the muffler lands on the freshly painted hood like you said (that was my first thought before you even said it). That paint job on the manifold is sure fancy! I went with ceramic coating on the H. Never did have good luck with high heat paint (I have used VHT and also BBQ grill paint in the past). I'm sure it was applicator error! Ha ha. Looking real good!

The only issues were easy to get to, you guys focused on the hard to get to and possibly disastrous internal aspects. What you guys did was like a remanufactured tractor and I bet it did not come out of the factory that good! Great fashion choice. I highlight painted a dull Generator engine one time, it was just too plain and unappealing Cummins brown for a fully exposed engine in the open Gen room and the V-1710 is a great looking engine.

I see it is studs on the manifold that makes it a lot easier I find it amazing how quickly manifold bolts can seize. Seized manifold bolts can be a real pain to remove.
I think you should strip those from wheels, It is fun for the children to watch them turn. I dount meat pin strip, three or four strips straight across the wheels. Very long ago I saw equipment done up that way, I asked the owner about it he said said he was having problems with wheels including tires going missing at night so he painted his up and surprisingly no got stollen. That old man was fun to work around, he was one entertaining character.

I have an Allis Chalmers CA that I caught the muffler on a branch, which knocked it loose and exposed where someone had slipped a smaller diameter pipe into the manifold and clamped it to the muffler. Because the threads are mostly gone on the inside. Some old farmer fix.

I bought a exhaust/intake manifold from Tractor Supply a few years ago for my 8N . It had a hell of a vacuum leak. Replaced the gasket, checked for straightness, it must of had a hole in the casting between the intake and exhaust. Steiner has pretty good stuff.

I would hate to be Squatche's car dealer. I just got a used Dodge Journey with a new paint job with red paint with metal cream added that looked perfect when we got it. The allwheel drive emblem in the back looks like the only chrome piece re-used. I am not joking when I walked up to it at the dealer standing right beside it I thought it was brand new. Have been taking pains to keep it looking that way even here in winter.

Hello Squatch253!! I had the same exhaust problem on a electric Generator set powered by this same engine about 4 years ago!! although my pipe was only tacked welded on in 4 equidistant spots I wound up cleaning up everything and done a little grinding followed by a continuous "more or less' weld around the pipe and manifold, repainted it, and installed the rest of the system with muffler and new heavy flex pipe that went down to where the exhaust was supposed to come out of the generator unit subframe. This unit had been mounted on a small trailer frame with two small axles so it was somewhat portable by towing it to where it was needed. the Gen head was 18 KW 240volt 60hz.

The proper way to have secured a mild steel pipe to a cast iron manifold would have been to braze it, not weld. I can tell you are into originality but if you want an easy time removing exhaust nuts in the future then use brass nuts. The brass will protect the studs from rusting as much and they cannot rust together like steel nuts and steel studs will. The silver looks much better than the black hole the other manifold created. :)
