Comedian Kevin Nicks back! I took a break from UA-cam unfortunately our 38 year old Daughter passed away last year with covid last year. I love watching these folks and the cabover rebuilds
The day I turned twenty one years old, I started a job driving one of these with a co-driver, from Minneapolis MN to the east coast. The route was between Boston and Baltimore. These trucks were, in my humble opinion, the worst pieces of crap that existed at the time. I think they were known as Transtar trash cans. They would shake apart with the screws that held them together inside them backing out and dropping parts of the interior on you. The sleeper was too short. You would have your head touching one end and you feet touching the other. I was supposed to sleep while the other guy drove it down the road. I lasted nine months until I was fired for being crabby to the customers. The guys that took over for me, drove it down a mountainside somewhere in NY.
I put on several hundred thousands of miles on some of those, they were junk but cheap. After about 2 million miles on cab overs, I was glad to get out of those rough riding junk . Doesn't Matter what it was, International, Freightliner , Pete, KW, Ford or GMC. One thing I will say, I drove a 77 Ford and GMC they both had better heaters and A/C than the others of 1977 year models.

I drove a transstar for years it had a 350 Cummins in it and you are correct on EVERY point you hit on, the fun part was for relaxation trying to find where all the screws on the floor after that day of driving go and try to get them all in place! The good old days?

Hello to you who are reading, how are you? I have a Word for you. I want to tell you: There is a God who loves you and wants to save you. But even so, there is hope for us, there is forgiveness for us, because God sent his Son Jesus Christ to this earth, he was born of a woman, he was born under the law of God, he fulfilled all the law, thus being perfect, and being here, he did good to all and healed those oppressed by the devil, he performed miracles, signs and wonders, the blind saw, the deaf heard, the dumb spoke, the lame walked and the dead rose again, because God was with him. Jesus was a man who stretched out his hands to the fallen and did not step on them. Jesus came to save and seek what was lost. But HE was rejected, offended and condemned to death and death on a cross, but that's where God shows his love for us, in that Christ died on the cross for our sins, HE died for us, it was an exchange, HE suffered the condemnation in our place, and after three days God raised his Son Jesus Christ from the dead, because death could not stop him, because in him there was no sin. Bruce, this truck brings back some memories to me. My dad ran trucks here in Australia (but not International ) and had a driver named Robert Winwood who would later drive one of these for Knights fuel haulage. One of these trucks is featured in the film Mad Max near the end. His truck was powered by an NTC 335 Cummins. The one in yours looks like it is an NTA series as it has an air intercooler on the block. Good luck with it. They were a really good reliable truck.
Gotta love a Will It Start video from Bruce. No matter what it is, how old it is, there’s always a story behind all of the abandoned vehicles and equipment!

I wonder how many clip leads this man has melted in his lifetime. I'm always amazed considering the condition of some of these vehicles that the old wiring doesn't just go up in smoke. Another good job guys,
bro says alot of us are getting sick and tired of the will it start videos with semis and cabovers yet, i love semis and love seeing them run when they get parked and abandoned (possible abandoned)
5 years ago I saw one of those International Transtar cabovers on the road which I was very surprised because I haven't seen one in 30 years. They're awesome & they bring back memories.
I love the 'Will it Start' videos. Keep them coming, it's great to see old machinery getting another lease at life after being neglected for so long. The more videos like this, the more I watch :D
When it comes to "RESTORING ANTIQUE'S": I COULD NEVER GET TIRED IF TORTURING MYSELF WATCHING THESE VIDEOS (I call it TORTURE because I'm not helping)!! PLEASE KEEP EM COMING!!!
Absolutely crazy hooking batteries like that, when you not sure if you will get a short. Rather use a grip on the terminals, so you can pull it off...when you get a wrong connection or sparks.
In most case the reason for slow spinning motors with good batteries is poor connections. steps 1 see if it spins over, step 2 clean the battery cable ends and ensure there is a good clean ground connection.
We started one that sat for over 35 years and I drove it from that location to the new owners home about 5 miles away it rode like hell from the flat spots on the tires and they still run it as a yard truck it was a 69 international transtar similar to the one here I believe the one in the video is around a 74 to 79

You need to make jumper cables that you can bolt onto the positive and negative leads on the truck and just have the batteries on the ground, won't break your back lol

I certainly hope that grand old truck doesn't get scrapped. I always thought how cool it would be to take one of those old Trans Star cabs and put it on a newer chassis with an ISX Cummins/13spd and all the new style trimmings trucks have today. I know it would take a ton of time and a pile of cash but the outcome would definitely be a one-off classic of epic style.
I’m amazed that these still start purely on the state of the fuel and tanks after 25+years. Surely that must of ran on liquid rust with a bit of diesel in the mix.
Cabovers are unique in the way that their engines are almost completely covered from the weather. Other styles of rigs allow a lot more water and moisture to get in
Yo Bruce Wilson that exhaust manifold should be the same thing for what you need on your payloader. If that's going to the scrap yard I'd work out a deal to snatch that cummins up for a spare engine for something.
@@teresapiszczek2686 It’s so awesome you replied. Thank you. I genuinely hope this video helps you guys out, and keeps this truck (or at least the engine and tranny) from being scrapped.
The over cab design never fails to make me laugh. _Every_ time I see one jacked up, I always imagine the guy's loose change, candy, sunglasses, maps, paperwork, and just about everything else crashing into the windshield and making a huge mess.
I work on HGV mostly over cabs and ALL drivers are warned/told you are responsible for everything in the cab. I’ve seen all sorts flying through the windscreens.
@Repent and believe in Jesus Christ Sorry, but no. I just don't trust someone who raped his own mother to give birth to himself; then killed himself to absolve people of the sins that he gave them in the first place. How selfish do you have to be to do that? Kind of answers itself, I guess. It's sort of akin to saying you love your wife, but then threaten to lock her in a basement and set her on fire if you even _suspect_ she might not love you back. What a load of crap.
Loved seeing you throw 24V to it! First thing, I would have changed fuel filters, probably drain out the old fuel, check air filter, check condition of the engine coolant. But hey, you got er goin👍🏻
I love these 'will it start' videos, I watch them all the time. Great video, and great 'will it start' moment when it did actually start, after all the work trying to find the correct voltage lol
My father owned several of those cab overs. I have been all over the country in those cab overs when I was kid beside him. I have a lot of good memories seeing the country side. Rough ride. But at that age it was fun. I would love to find the one my father drove and restore it.

Thank you for the will it start this is the content I subscribed to you for. I'm not big on watching trucking videos. More of this and more likes from me!
Wow Bruce! I think after a couple of those spark explosions, I would have hit the road. Awesome to see that Transtar fire up though! Great effort guys!
parked up the year after I passed my 4 wheeler driving test. trucking here in the UK probably went down hill in the late 70's to early 80''s, then the doomsday came in from about 86 - 91 with a lot of companies calling in the creditors, which killed off a lot of small trucking companies due to the freight being moved but the shipping was paid a month behind with their bills. then if that didn't kill off trucking then the introduction to 24 hour shopping in the late 90's did, as now can't even drive anywhere without seeing a lot of car traffic in the early hours of the morning which was the best time to move freight without idiot car drivers.
When I saw how clean the engine looked I had a feeling it would start right up. But I think you need some heavier jumper wires so they won't melt. lol.
I hope you keep doing the will it start videos on cab overs and semis in general. I have been driving a semi for about 10 years now and I love watching ur will it start videos. Keep up the great work.

Hello to you who are reading, how are you?
I have a Word for you.
I want to tell you: There is a God who loves you and wants to save you.
He already proved his love for you when Jesus died on the cross.
This GOD is Love, He is Merciful, He is Good, but also a Holy and Just God.
HE has a law, and we cannot obey it, we disobey it and sin, sin is like a crime before God, our sins bring eternal damnation upon us, so we are not innocent before God.
He defeated death and today we have hope, God now announces repentance to all men.
JESUS CHRIST is the Judge who will judge the living and the dead, what GOD is now announcing to all people is repentance.
Repent of your sins, turn from your sins, and believe in JESUS CHRIST, your sins will be forgiven and you will be saved.
Why, coz he jump started an engine. Hardly rocket science diagnostics is it

I wonder how many clip leads this man has melted in his lifetime. I'm always amazed considering the condition of some of these vehicles that the old wiring doesn't just go up in smoke. Another good job guys,
bro says alot of us are getting sick and tired of the will it start videos with semis and cabovers yet, i love semis and love seeing them run when they get parked and abandoned (possible abandoned)
if i sounded rude i didnt mean to sound like that
There is something relaxing and nostalgic watching this videos.
5 years ago I saw one of those International Transtar cabovers on the road which I was very surprised because I haven't seen one in 30 years. They're awesome & they bring back memories.
what is the model? how old is it?
@@rorypoole5582 the model was the same & the year model was somewhere from a 75 to an 81.
I love the 'Will it Start' videos. Keep them coming, it's great to see old machinery getting another lease at life after being neglected for so long. The more videos like this, the more I watch :D
We love the will it start videos keep them coming!!!
Especially old cabovers

l NEVER get bored of real will it start vids, one of my favourite parts of the whole deal.

The will it starts must remain on this channel. Atleast one every few months. They are the best
ua-cam.com/video/aikKq2diD_I/v-deo.html thanks🙏
It just needs a pressure wash lines replaced, tanks cleaned, and some brake work
It needs a lot more than that...

Replace fuel lines and air lines change filters, looks like a neat project for someone
Why...but a running driving machine for $8-10k. That old clunker would take way more just to be drivable
Why? Because that thing is way better looking and much better built then any new garbage made today. Keep old iron on the road or it's forgotten.
@@kentkirkpatrick7953 Go buy it then and rebuild it. There's obvious reasons they've pretty gone extinct. Most just don't want the discomfort anymore

Absolutely crazy hooking batteries like that, when you not sure if you will get a short. Rather use a grip on the terminals, so you can pull it off...when you get a wrong connection or sparks.
12:33 battery go sparky sparky big time
In most case the reason for slow spinning motors with good batteries is poor connections. steps 1 see if it spins over, step 2 clean the battery cable ends and ensure there is a good clean ground connection.
Yeah you'll spend hours on something and then come to find out it's just a bad ground to the engine.
Seems that the negative wire was the issue. Broken strands or something I bet. Just running a new one to ground wouldve worked.
Love the cabover, will it start. Love International Transtars, we don't get any over here in England. Shame Whistlin Diesel destroyed 'Frank'.
Yes I agree, there are so few of them around, it should have been salvaged and fixed up to use on a farm or something.
Agreed, I feel he would’ve gotten so much more love for simply just doing a give away to a fan or just out right selling it.
Dang Bruce I never thought I would see one of those semis just sitting somewhere and it fired up and ran so smooth
We started one that sat for over 35 years and I drove it from that location to the new owners home about 5 miles away it rode like hell from the flat spots on the tires and they still run it as a yard truck it was a 69 international transtar similar to the one here I believe the one in the video is around a 74 to 79
@@drjohnsonhungwell5115 + the 4070b was produced from 1976 to 1980 I believe this also includes the eagle transtar in this cabover configuration love them myself personally
@@dennisbisconti4583 I almost bought one around 25 years ago it was a 76 had a 400 big cam 13 spd and 4.33 gears out back and had low miles for the age the county had owned it , it was solid and looked pretty good inside and out I could've got it for $3500.00
@@drjohnsonhungwell5115 + man I bet you can kik yourself over not getting it then my uncle drove the 4070 A model in the late 1960s and early 1970s he like the truck a lot even tho it was a rough ride he dove it up till 1978 then he went to work for Bradway trucking in 1979 in my high school years I use to go with him in the summer time by this time he had the Peterbilt 352 pacemaker that had the 3406 cat in it he love the way that truck pulled like a freight train I have old model kits from ERTL model company from 1973 of these transtar 4070A I know how rough these trucks ride but love them like I said I went many time with my uncle on the road in the summer time great memories
@@dennisbisconti4583 The one I almost bought had the Hendrickson walking beam suspension probably rode rough empty but it would probably handle good , I drove an 84 CL9000 Ford back in the early 90s it had air ride cab at all four corners and air ride suspension it rode well but that air ride cab took getting used to it would scare you the way the cab would float , I plan on buying an older model truck someday to have as a toy and to restore.
Hello keep up will it start Cabover videos really enjoy them thanks Bruce Wilson👍👍
Safe Journey! CHOLULA!!!
😂😂 lol where are they going 😂 wat a moment buddy
You need to make jumper cables that you can bolt onto the positive and negative leads on the truck and just have the batteries on the ground, won't break your back lol
Yep there's little post adapter things and some decent cables...a momentary switch for the starter don't take much
😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅
I love the will it starts. It's why I started watching. Would love to see a bloopers video of the ones that didn't fire up.

I certainly hope that grand old truck doesn't get scrapped. I always thought how cool it would be to take one of those old Trans Star cabs and put it on a newer chassis with an ISX Cummins/13spd and all the new style trimmings trucks have today. I know it would take a ton of time and a pile of cash but the outcome would definitely be a one-off classic of epic style.
nice. but no
But it is very expensive, my brother
Bruce honestly, these will it start videos are very interesting, I think anyway. Keep em coming.
The great American engines, non celestial
I’m amazed that these still start purely on the state of the fuel and tanks after 25+years. Surely that must of ran on liquid rust with a bit of diesel in the mix.
I'm amazed the engines arent seized from sitting for 25 years. That old truck has seen better days. Impressive
Cabovers are unique in the way that their engines are almost completely covered from the weather. Other styles of rigs allow a lot more water and moisture to get in
@@shackledmusic nice to know
Yo Bruce Wilson that exhaust manifold should be the same thing for what you need on your payloader. If that's going to the scrap yard I'd work out a deal to snatch that cummins up for a spare engine for something.

Will never get tired of will it start videos, keep ‘‘em coming.
I gotta give you some credit bro, you always get them started!! Congratulations 🎉🍾🎊🎈
I will NEVER get tired of will it start
The over cab design never fails to make me laugh. _Every_ time I see one jacked up, I always imagine the guy's loose change, candy, sunglasses, maps, paperwork, and just about everything else crashing into the windshield and making a huge mess.
I work on HGV mostly over cabs and ALL drivers are warned/told you are responsible for everything in the cab. I’ve seen all sorts flying through the windscreens.
Now that your mention it, it sounds hilarious
@Repent and believe in Jesus Christ Sorry, but no. I just don't trust someone who raped his own mother to give birth to himself; then killed himself to absolve people of the sins that he gave them in the first place.
How selfish do you have to be to do that? Kind of answers itself, I guess. It's sort of akin to saying you love your wife, but then threaten to lock her in a basement and set her on fire if you even _suspect_ she might not love you back.
What a load of crap.
I freaking hate em
@Repent and believe in Jesus Christ rubbish!!
I enjoy all the will it start videos! That’s how I originally found your channel. It’s cool content.
Loved seeing you throw 24V to it! First thing, I would have changed fuel filters, probably drain out the old fuel, check air filter, check condition of the engine coolant. But hey, you got er goin👍🏻
That tries with this tiny cables had definetely comedic character...

17:20 LOOL, big time sparks
thank goodness for safety gear huh?
Never tired of Will it start
parked up the year after I passed my 4 wheeler driving test. trucking here in the UK probably went down hill in the late 70's to early 80''s, then the doomsday came in from about 86 - 91 with a lot of companies calling in the creditors, which killed off a lot of small trucking companies due to the freight being moved but the shipping was paid a month behind with their bills. then if that didn't kill off trucking then the introduction to 24 hour shopping in the late 90's did, as now can't even drive anywhere without seeing a lot of car traffic in the early hours of the morning which was the best time to move freight without idiot car drivers.
When I saw how clean the engine looked I had a feeling it would start right up. But I think you need some heavier jumper wires so they won't melt. lol.
Or just carry battery cable. That shitty negative was losing connection internally probably broken strands. Running a new one wouldve solved that
I hope you keep doing the will it start videos on cab overs and semis in general. I have been driving a semi for about 10 years now and I love watching ur will it start videos. Keep up the great work.
started it at the cost of the engine. starting it before full service will destroy it.
