I felt pretty sad when this happened. I'm glad you were able to get back to this so quickly. Props to Mr. Richards. I think he did an outstanding job. Also from what you said in a previous video, Mr. Richards kept true to his word. (Not like the other shop) I look forward to seeing it on in the field again.
Pete, Great to see the MD running again. If my 51' MD ever breaks down, I am shipping it out to you!! You have a fantastic knowledge of these old Farmalls and I love your meticulous attention to all the details that make your work successful. Thanks for sharing.
Nothing like the idling sound of an old Farmall And the good running sound just warms my heart and exhilarates me. It will never get old hearing it idle.
Hay Pete I found that you said "tighten the nuts like a spiral" but I've rebuilt 2 heads one from a 1930's w-30 and another from a hart-par 18-28 and I was told to tighten the nuts starting in the center and work equil to the outside
Love how you break down your rebuild so that even newbies like myself can understand the process. What a beautiful restoration project to put that wonderful piece of machinery back to work👍🏻👏🏻
I've watched & enjoyed the whole MD thing as I had a lot of seat time on one of those in my teens, about 50 years ago! Nice that you got the ole girl ready for work!
Good morning Pete, when you turned that corner in fifth gear you could really hear the low end torque that those engines are famous for. You definitely have it working right. Thanks and take care. Good luck with that fine piece of red machine.
Pete great show. Your patience is definitely a valuable quality. Enjoy all the programs and always learn something or reminded of my younger years. Thanks
All that blood, sweat, and tears has it's rewards, doesn't it, Pete?!! The look of pride on your face when she first fired-up was priceless! I'm happy for you, my friend! All the best to you and your family!
Looks to be running good again, hopefully it goes longer this time! The new machine shop sure was faster than the first one you used and looks to have done a better job
Pete, you are a great guy to look up to. Had this happened to me I would probably sit on it for a month stewing in frustration over it. I really struggle with failures and become depressed. Watching you work through this as if it were just another day for a small farm is inspiring.
I've never been any sort of a mechanic but can appreciate a 'master' at work and, probably, most farmers who do their own maintenance are exactly that. They may sometimes use unorthodox parts, but they keep the old timers running like tops. Thanks for this episode, Pete, and for sharing with us. I did miss the cows giving you guff, though 🙂
Like anyone of us in any field of expertise, we all have a starting point. I always liked a challenge, one day I met my match with an electric washing machine. All I will say is never again.
Great to see it running again. One of the things that was really standing out to me was the appreciation for the details you put into the restoration - all the decals. That was a nice touch. Hopefully you get plenty of rain, and soon, so we can see you getting back to haying with it.
Very well-done Pete! Your dad will be pleased to hear the news as well. He did good by stopping the engine as soon as he heard a problem. The MD is a purdy girl, sings a sweet song too. Congrats.
Glad you got that fine machine back in action Pete. I've been watching all your vids and sent my dad (84) your book. Ma said he just read it, didn't set it down except to eat! My grandpa bought the first tractor for the farm, a Farmall A brand new. My dad and my uncle (just kids) immediately jumped on and went down the road in 4th wide open to see how fast it would go. Grandpa gave them a little talking to! hah! I left the farm behind 40 years ago. But when returning home on vacation and visiting I would end up in a field, on a tractor or in a barn. Once farming is in you blood it doesn't easily come out. You and your family have a great operation going. Thanks for taking the time to bring us along for the ride!
Pete, another quality video showcasing the MD. Glad she is repaired and ready to go to work. Yes, Dave Richards is a master machinist and has a great channel showing his steam fired machine shop. It is nice you live close to Dave so he could mill the MD head for you.
After watching you for a while now working on this tractor, I'm more satisfied then you are Pete!! Great stuff and thank you for the kind words last week, it meant a lot. Thanks Brian
Great to see the old girl goin again! You make excellent "how to" videos! Your acquired knowledge of all things involved with those beautiful machines is incomparable. I'm always eager for one of your new videos! After I learned enough about my phone and discovered how to pull up the earlier offerings, I often go back and watch them over and over again. I feel like each time I learn a little more about why you do what you do... and who you are. Thank you.
I’m glad you got the MD back together and running so well. I really appreciate your mechanical videos. #1 because you really study the manuals so you know how things go together and all the tolerance specifications. #2 because your editing. You don’t show all the repetitive tasks, and keep your videos short and interesting to watch. I watch a couple of other channels that do tractor restorations, and they either tear into things not knowing what they are going to find, or they don’t edit the video down to a decent length showing a lot of dead air time or showing the complete procedure with a lot of repetitive tasks. Thanks again for putting out great content.
Now we all know why the original machine shop would not allow you to film them working on the engine. Its fantastic to see it ready for work. another great video, thank you.
Great to see the MD back! Congrats! Always fascinating watching all the meticulous work you put into these tractors. Thanks for taking the extra time in making a, yet another, great video! Can’t wait to see the MD at work!
Pete, nice job on the re-rebuild on the head. Sounded and looked great. I think you will be okay this time. Hope the rains come to green the fields. Take Care from Plattsburgh, NY
Glad you were able to save it! Fingers crossed no issues this time. Ive been a mechanic my whole life and I only have one suggestion. When using the torque wrench try not to put your hand on the head of the torque wrench. It actually changes the torque quite a bit. We had to go to a class about that for where I work. Very interesting
Wonderful to see your beauty back on the road again, Pete. 😀 Even with it's a never-ending to-do list of things that need readjusting, she's still absolutely beautiful and knowing you have worked on every single bolt and washer, it must be very satisfying to have her back and running again. Your dad must be very happy to see her back on the road again too. Bless you all and take care from the UK 🇬🇧. Paula x
Don't listen to the haters Pete! My family loves when you mix it up with the chore vids, mechanical vids, business vids and your personal (family history, philosophy) vids. Thanks.
I saw some more blood on the elbow. No one can say you don’t have blood sweat and tears into this one! Better never get rid of it and pass it on to the kiddos! Good job Pete! Love these ones!
Wow! I can't get enough of viewing the old MD. it is a fantastic work of art and mechanics. compilation. that you've done. your mechanical ability excels beyond mine for sure and I appreciate your tutorial offerings when you work on her. I"m pushing 80. so my opportunities to do the work again are slim so I can live vicariously through you and watching you work. And the other thing I love is reading al lthe other comments. and to see I am not the only one who appreciates your videos, your mechanicall ability, your video skills and best of all you! sir ! are one of a kind in my book. And a great kudos to Mr. Richards also. nice to know there are still honest people doing a good job out there nowadays. I get so disgusted how just about all business's today rip people off and over charge on parts and labor. but the flip side of the coin is that the people let them do it and do not boycott them or speak up. enough of my rant. thank you so much Pete for all that you do for us and for sharing God Speed. ECF
Pete, without a doubt you could do anything that you put your mind to. I am in awe of the knowledge you have accumulated. When I tackle a project and start to get flustered, I think to myself, "What would Pete do?" I've watched you stand back, evaluate the problem and take steps to fix it. Thank you very much for sharing your experiences!
I'm so glad you were able to put the MD back together again. I like how you recognize good work and good people who do right by others. Also like your positive outlook on the whole thing.
Good deal, the MD is back and sounding great! Kudos to your Machine shop and your hard work. Looks like you've been getting some rain, hope more is on the way for your fields. Have a great day.
You are so lucky !!!!! Not that it dropped a valve, but no more damage than what happened. Could have been so much worse !!!! Kudos to your dad for not only knowing what to do, but not hesitating to shut it down. So glad you got it fixed relatively easy.
It sounds SO GOOD, I love listening to it run! Nice job Tim, I love the videos on the tractors and your passion and dedication to making it right! Keep up the GREAT work!
My dad believed we all should be able to maintain our own vehicles and me and my brothers bought cheapest and rebuild / restored them which in 1990 was a handy skill when our cars engine caught fire. My last rebuild I outsourced in 2004. I am disabled today and still service all our cars. I hope to restore one before I am 65 and that is approaching soon. I used to work for the IH and Cummins distributor in th 1980's athough on IT, but visited the plant occasionally. Love the mechanical and farming videos as we run a Urban Homestead here in South Africa.😇😇🤗🤗🙏🙏
I've been subscribed to David Richards channel for years. His machine shop is so amazing... All of the machines are belt driven and powered from an old steam engine that David restored himself.
Hey Pete, glad to see the MD back together. On a much lesser scale I had problems with remanufactured and after market parts. I truly felt your pain. Thanks for the great videos!:)
Pete, I enjoyed watching the MD climb down off the healing bench. Great work getting the ol' gal running again.👍 I'm sure it will be a while before your dad's willing to take it out again. 😀😀
Glad you you got the MD back together and running again, sounds good. I also have a Farmall 1941 H, we watch you guys while having dinner, great show and you have a very supporting wife , great team.

Feels good to have the MD back together 😌 Now we just need some rain and order will be restored :D
Nothing like the idling sound of an old Farmall
And the good running sound just warms my heart and exhilarates me.
It will never get old hearing it idle.
Love this channel as a whole but the antique tractor content is my favorite part
Yay the MD is alive again. It’s gonna run forever this time. Awesome video Pete. 🚜
I've never seen one down in my area...just an awesome machine 😎 👏
Hay Pete I found that you said "tighten the nuts like a spiral" but I've rebuilt 2 heads one from a 1930's w-30 and another from a hart-par 18-28 and I was told to tighten the nuts starting in the center and work equil to the outside

This is what real "sustainability" looks like: make things that last and repair when needed, not the flimsy stuff made today.
@@paulariese260 We have an older 8950 Kubota loader rear wheel weights etc. It out weighs its counter part by 4k in todays tractor from Kubota

50 Farmall MD runs like a top! Sounds good! Good work, Pete!
The sound of that tractor running is a thing of beauty.
Good to see the MD back going again can't wait to see it working in the field again
All that blood, sweat, and tears has it's rewards, doesn't it, Pete?!!
The look of pride on your face when she first fired-up was priceless! I'm happy for you, my friend!
All the best to you and your family!
That's crazy how the sound immediately changes when switched to diesel power.
Amazing!
The engine sounds *so* great at 17:00. (Nice T-shirt, too.)
Nice Pete, I loved the sound switching from gasoline to diesel. Sounds really smooth and runs great.
excellent job on the restoration, I really like to sound of antique iron running as it did when it was new
Looks to be running good again, hopefully it goes longer this time! The new machine shop sure was faster than the first one you used and looks to have done a better job
