Thank you for this video. I had purchased a MkIII last year for magic lantern, and in pivotal moments had recording issues. This will help me understand the whole system better. Excellent
An interesting video. It's funny how I have always enjoyed watching ML related videos, especially from people who know how to squeeze the most out of it, but whenever I get to have a good deal on ebay, I always back out. I am a very lazy man, and there's nothing like picking a camera up and shooting without the headaches that are well associated with ML. Very detailed video Sergio. I pushed back the urge from Zeek, Cole, and now I have to deal with you. 🤣
Thanks!! Infact I struggled with this camera when I bought it because I didn’t find much information on the web. For this same reason I decided to make this tutorial.
dear brother! its not only the video but I am surprised its camera still has a lot of potential! Within an hour I will try doing this! will definitely let you know if its fried :P wish me luck! and thanks again.
@@russo-filmmaking I just did it man! now just try to use Anamorphic, after a few sec it stops recording! which mode or ratio will give me professional ease and a relatively smooth workflow?
Excellent video Sergio, thank you for taking the time to go through in detail for what this camera can do, this is a very good tutorial indeed, i love your videos as they are carefully planned and not rushed - thanks Sergio
Excellent video, as always! I’m an EOS M shooter, and it’s always interesting to see the differences between models - especially a beefcake powerful one like the mk iii. Thanks for your hard work!
Thank you for this video, without it there would be no recent tutorials on how to install ML on the 5d mark iii. It may be an old machine but I still love mine 😄
Great video Sergio. Thank you so much🫶👌. I wanted to ask you if there was a version of ML that allowed you to shoot at bitrates other than 14 bit without going through crop mode. Do you think they exist?
Thank you!! You can shoot 10bit, 11bit, 12bit or 14bit. And you can change these parameters any time when filming. I don’t understand what do you mean “without going through crop mode”: crop mood (no crop mode) is a magic lantern build, You need any magic lantern build to be able to switch among different color bit depth from 10 to 14
Sergio, this is a truly brilliant tutorial, thanks! I am finding 3:2 1920x1280 full frame / open gate excellent. (Thanks for the advice!) I wonder though, from your experience have you been able to get a higher resolution 3:2 image with card spanning in crop mode? I've had a few crashes - and wonder how you would achieve this? Any thoughts much appreciated.
Thank you!! the maximum resolution in 3:2 open gate is 1920x 1280, you can’t get more than this. You can upscale to UHD in DaVinci Resolve applying 2x super scale obteining an amazing quality. If I use 3:2 1920x 1280 I don’t activate card spanning, MLV files are captured on my CF card which is set as preferred card and I can film 14bit without problems. If you have problems, probably your cards are slow. or some settings are wrong, It´s difficult to say without trying to do some test in person.
Many thanks Sergio! I am actually getting perfect 1920x1280 open gate at 14bit on a CF card. What I’m trying to do though is use card spanning and crop mode to achieve 3:2 at a higher resolution than 1920x1280. I would have thought this should be possible? Thanks for you help!
@@ThinkingAboutCameras I don’t think is possible. I tried in high resolution 16:9 10bit and results are very unstable. So I think that 3:2 will be worst
Informative video,Sergio! I had plans to buy eos m to dig in this raw video world, but after that video i really thinking about 5d iii,cuz it have 1080p 16:9 and open gate without any crops and limitations,no aliasing,no moire,no rolling shutter and plus it full frame, for low light scenes, that sounds so good, isnt it win win comparing eos m with it aliasing, moire, rolling shutter andd other limitations? The only thing i wanted ask as well about pixel binning, cant quite understand what is it,all i understood for now that it bad thing, but does the 5d iii have pixel binning in open gate and 16:9 1080 mode when you shooting the full sensor footage? Or pixel binning comes only in crop modes? Just want to buy 5D iii for shooting true 1080p 16:9 or open gate with maximum quality possible without any crops and fancy stuff, and as it seems everything suits well for now for me - no aliasing,no moire,no rolling shutter, WYSIWYG realtime preview in true 1080 mode 14 bit raw,and having the proper focal length with ef lenses without any crops and resizes, but now pixel bining new thing that dissapoints, can you please make some clarifications? 🙏
Thank you!! from what I know and I read in the web (but I’m can’t be sure because I'm not a technician but rather a passionate filmmaker), for 3:2 (1920x1280) or 16:9 (1920x1080) aspect ratios, 3x3 Pixel binning (not line skipping) is applied. 3x3 pixel binning scheme, meaning each pixel in the final video represents a group of 3x3 pixels on the sensor. But compared to the EOS M, the 5D Mark III in this mode doesn’t has noticeable artifacts or aliasing /moire . Rolling shutter is present but in 3x3 mode is similar or better than other more expensive cameras.
Firstly this is an amazing tutorial for helping people get magic lantern working with a 5dmarkiii well done. But if I am to be honest I am feel like everyone's footage from zeeks eos m to this 5dmarkiii seems to have very strange color with very strange peaky greens an reds.
@@MrStevegibb thank you!! it’s a 14bit raw image , and you can change absolutely all the colors tones in post without breaking the image. I can confirm after a few tests that the image coming out of ML is almost identical to the one which come out from a 16mm vision 3 film. I’m going to drop a comparison soon between clips filmed in 16mm with my Krasnogorsk 3 and the same clips filmed with my EOSM and magic lantern. A part the texture comparing colors they looks almost identical. So if we are looking for a low budget cinema camera it lives up to expectations.
Correct. In 1x3 modes 5D as the correct framing but live view is choppy. When filming live view is grayscale but enough smooth. It’s not ideal but I can work with it. I’ll do a comparison between the 1x3 modes in the eoM and the 5DIII to see if some difference in the image quality
@@MercuriMedici my next video is just on this topic. A comparison between de 5D markIII and the EOS M. The 700D is identical to the EOSM regarding quality and functionalities. The only difference is the flip screen and the lens mount.
@@russo-filmmaking Unfortunately the EOS M sensor Is slower than the 700D. It makes 1x3 modes borderline unusable with handheld work. The difference is about 16-20% in readout speed
@@shueibdahir I think that the 5DIII, the EOSM and the 700D ( I used and experimented with all three cameras) when shooting in 1x3 mode or 1X1 mode handheld in the real life, all have terrible rolling shutter. None of them is any better than the others. All three cameras produce wobbly images and jello effects unless you don't have solid hands or use a lens with optical stabilization or a tripod or some other type of support.
Thank you for this superb tutorial. A question: I have a project in 4:3 aspect ratio. I am happy to shoot either full frame or crop. What settings would you recommend? Thank you
Thanks!! In the movie tab prestes off and sellect also off under the ratio. Then in the raw tab select 4:3 under the aspect ratio and in resolution select 1776x1290. If you do this you’ll get a crop factor of x1.08. So I suggest to stay with 3:2 which hasn’t any crop factor and then crop in post to get 4:3.
Thanks for great content. I'm curious about a comparison between 5D Mark III and the BMPCC 4K. My only camera at the moment is the eos-m, but if I was going to upgrade it would be one of those two. If the image quality is the same I guess the 5D Mark III would win on price and that you also get a good photography camera. But I really miss being able to use real video playback on the eos-m, so a Blackmagic camera with everything working smoothly is tempting...
I have a canon 6D and a BMPCC 6k Pro. If you put the raw file on the MLV APP you can get the arri-log profile on the video and it's very very similar to the blackmagic quality and color-science. Of course the resolution and DOF isn't the same 6k (APS-c) vs Full HD /FF), but it's impressive how it's similar in quality. I have just more noise on sahdow with the 6D and I can't push the sensor over 800 iso, but I shoot on 12bit becouse the 6D have a buffer memory very slow. The 5D mark III is better to perform full hd 14bit with arri-log on MLV APP.
I'll tell you right now. Image quality is very close but just buy a pocket 4K if you want a properly functioning cinema camera that works out of the box. Doing all of these hack on the eos M and Mark III is fun but the money you save is lost on convoluted workflow and reliability issues. Again, I own both the Mark III/EOS M with magic lantern and have shot with the pocket 4K for several years. The canon cameras are for fun projects with nothing serious on the line.
Do I get a 5d III or stick with my two crop mood 700D`s that is the question ? Anxiously awaiting your next video. The information here is great. Thank you Sergio.
Thanks!! I’m preparing a video comparison between the EOSM (which as the same behavior and quality of the 700D) and the 5DIII. Next week I’m going to drop the video so stay tuned. After it you will be able to take a decision.
Thank you for the video! Do you know is it possible to get a larger resolution when recording in open gate 3:2 no-crop mode? For example, by lowering bitdepth or whatever
Hi Sergio, right now i am filming on an 600d, but it can't really do raw video for a decent amount of time without lowering the resolution to like 960 by 300. Should I buy an 650/700d with crop mood or should I save some more money and buy an 5d miii? But thanks for the video!
@@FrogMotionStudios I own a EOSM, a 700D and the 5DIII. I'm gonna sell my 700D, I preffer to work with the EOSM over it. You can choose a EOSM because there are more lens options, with almost any type of mount; crop mood is very stabile on the EOSM and all the modes are in realtime. If you already own full frame lenses, then 5D is an excellent option.
@@russo-filmmaking thank you for your response, i already own some EF/EFs lenses so if i bought an eos m i would have to buy an adapter. I also have a cage and batteries for the 600d, which also fit the 650/700d. So is the eos m really better than the 650/700d?
@@FrogMotionStudios EOSM and 700D are the same. In the EOSM you have the possibility to adapt almost any lens, and there are a lot of high quality lenses at very low price in the used market, while for the 700D the choice is limited. The 700D has a flip screen while the EOSM doesn’t. These are the only two factors you have to consider to make your decision. Check my video on EOSM vs 700D.
Hi Sergio! What do you mean, "no rolling shutter" on the 3:2 open gate mode? Can you quantify or be more specific? Does it go down to less than 10 ms? Have you tested it? What do you mean?
Thanks for your question. All cameras with a CMOS sensor have rolling shutter, unless the camera has a global shutter. My statement remains confined to the world of Magic Lantern and pertains only to that world when we compare the different modes. The point I’m emphasizing is that rolling shutter on the 5DIII when filming in 3x3 mode in 16:9 or 3:2 isn’t really an issue, unlike in 1x3 or 1x1 modes. Yes, the rolling shutter is slow compared to higher-end cameras, but at the same time, it’s easily manageable.
you can shot in 3x3 mode and select in the movie tab aspect ratio 2.39:1 or if you don’t need a real time preview and want a better quality you can shot in anamorphic mode 1x3 and select in the movie tab aspect ratio 2.39:1 (in this case is better to activate card spanning). in both case you get continuous recording at 14bit. Follow the steps in the video for the best settings,
@@russo-filmmaking I would love it. I have both cameras but since your crop mood Eos M videos I allways ended up using the Eos M because its size. This may change after this video.
Hi Sir, Thank you for the video. I'm still new to this and have had the crop mode installed on my 650D for a few months. However, I haven’t used the camera since the last installation. Recently, I found some free time, but I couldn't find any information online or maybe I’m just not good at searching in the Facebook group. My question is: how can I completely uninstall Magic Lantern from my camera so I can do a fresh install? Should I format the camera using the camera’s format option or through my computer? Which method is correct? or neither? Any reply would be appreciated. Thank you!
Magic Lantern does not install on the camera itself. In fact, if you insert any other card without Magic Lantern, the camera operates in its native firmware. You can install Magic Lantern on either the SD card or the CF card, and if you want, you can use only the SD card, only the CF card, or both. Using both allows for a higher data transfer speed, writing more megabytes per second, which enables you to use higher resolutions without issues
I tried ML on a 60D but it wasn't nice. The recording time was less than 10s and preview was choppy. I was recording 1920X1080 at 10 bit on a pro SD card.
What's the HDMI output quality like compared to the EOS M/700D? One thing I hate about my 700D is that the HDMI image quality is seriously pixelated and lacks detail leading me to conclude that the preview is not really 1080i, but just an upscaled image from 720x480p. But since the 5d mark iii doesn't seem to mirror the HDMI, does it at least look as good as Blackmagic pocket og when it comes to HDMI output?
I really don’t know the exact output resolution on my monitor. . What I can say is that In my 7inch monitor I get a clear and sharp image from both 5DIII and EOS M,. I don’t have a Blackmagic Pocket OG but I could say that I don’t notice major differences (at least to the naked eye) when I output on the same monitor my BMPCC 4k or my BMCC 6k FF.
Hi Sergio , for some reason no matter what aspect ratio or resolution I use I can record only 2-3 se one than it turn off with - stop automagically with flushing buffers
It seems you have a recording limitation issue. Unfortunately, that can be caused by several factors; what brand SD or CF card are you using? Are you using raw uncompress or raw lossless ?
Sergio, do you know why i´m getting writing speeds of about 20.5 MB/s with sd overclock at 160 MHz in my Sandisk extreme pro 200Mbps SD Card? It is normal to be that low? When I put overclock at 240 MHz it reaches 70 MB/s but it gives me a weird error: memory patches appears with a red dot and says "cache is locked down (not exactly clean)"
@@JunkyMoldy check what sdr is set under the sd overlock, if it's sdr 50 or sdr 104. It would be sdr 104, I use this setting with my sandisk extreme pro. On the other hand I use the CF card as primary card which is faster than a Sd card
@@russo-filmmaking excellent, I’ll do that. I wanted to get the max speed with my sd cause I use “card spanning” so they combine the CF speed plus the sd speed! :)
The MLV files will only write to the CF card... which I don't want. I set the SD card as the record card in the canon menu and the ML menu... it will still only record to the CF card... kind of annoying since I want the CF only for the ML install and to have the CF card do all the recording.
CF has a best write speed compared to the SD card. For this reason if you put the two cards into your 5D mark III, magic lantern prefer the CF card for recording the ML files. Otherwise you could have problem with your write speed.
Would there be any way to do this for the Canon 5D Mk2? I seem to be doing something wrong on my end, because it doesn’t have the same options I’m seeing here, and my raw footage always results in some heavy red noise, I seem to never be able to get it to work properly. Thanks

If you upload there is no problem. But downgrade from 1.3.6 to 1.1.3 or 1.2.3 is possible only with this method ( you can use only one card as I do, or if you have to cards the process is faster because you can change from one card to the other quickly when the firmware actualization start without extract the battery)

The ideal is open gate 3:2 14bit which with the Blazar nero adapter will give you a final 2.25:1 aspect ratio. For a wide view you can use 14bit 1080/16:9 or for slow motion 1080/16:9/45FPS, which will give you a final aspect ratio 2.66:1 which you could crop to a more classical 2.39:1 in post. The 5.7K video doesn't seem to playback smoothly no matter what options are used to convert the MLV file, even after exporting out of Premiere to an .mp4 the motion is super jerky
When filming in 5.7k, do you use card spanning? And when you import files from both the SD and CF cards to your computer, do you put them in the same folder before loading the .MLV files into the MLV app? My footage is very smooth and fluid, like most people’s who use that mode. There might be something wrong with your computer (maybe it’s not fast enough) or with your settings. In the MLV app, it’s normal for playback to be jerky, but I think you can improve it by lowering the playback quality. However, after exporting the material, if everything is done correctly, the playback will be smooth like the one of any other camera filming at 24 frames per second.
@@russo-filmmaking hmm, I did not import from both cards but I did put file spanning on... how does that work since you can only import the MLV into MLV app... is there a video showing how to do that the correct way when card spanning? I'll try again if I can figure out the correct method.
@@RooftopKoreansMusic so, after filming you need to put in the same folder on your computer the clips from your Sd card and CF card. They have the same date and time information, only the extension changes. Then import in ML app only the MLV clips and not the others. The reason to do this is because when you film with card spanning, the clips are recorded partly on the SD card and partly on the CF card to achieve better data writing flow. The important thing is that both the files from the SD card and the CF card are placed in the same folder before to import only the .MLV files into ML app. You can see this procedure in this video ua-cam.com/video/KzNaJAztjpY/v-deo.htmlsi=YN-0raZ62ARERJfk

A great video about Magic Lantern would be comparing a camera like 5D3 to a somewhat affordable APS-C/FF body that can shoot 10-bit LOG. Cause whenever I start thinking about buying something like 5D3 - I end up with the conclusion that it makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. From my (limited) experience with RAW video it seems that there's very very few use-cases for Magic Lantern RAW these days. A used Panasonic S5 can be bought for $850-950. Used 5D3s are all over the place, and the ones in still decent condition regularly go for $500-600, so quite a lot cheaper, but when we add a few (necessary) fast SD+CF card pairs to it (plus extra HDDs for storing the footage on the computer) - both cameras get a lot closer to each other in terms of the total price. But S5 destroys 5D3 in pretty much ever aspect, however you look at it... dynamic range, noise, resolution, stabilization, storage requirements, post processing workflow etc etc. The only somewhat reasonable argument for 5D3 that I've ever heard of was that its 14-bit RAW video might be better than 10-bit LOG for extreme VFX work, like a lot of green screen stuff. But then again, no one seems to have posted any proof, like side to side comparisons showing the difference. ML RAW seems like a toy these days, just something to play with if you have nothing better to do. And most videos on UA-cam about ML RAW are complete garbage, the same dumb small DOF footage of foliage, whacked colors with awful aliasing, obnoxiously called "cinematic". 😆 So if you have access to an older APS-C/FF 10-bit LOG-capable body - this could be an interesting video to make: an unbiased comparison between "ancient hacked sensor, but 14-bit RAW" vs "newer technology, not much more expensive, but 10-bit LOG".
Sure the 5S is a better camera compared to the 5DIII. Unfortunately I don’t have a 5S . Probably I’ll do a comparison between the BlackMagic 6K FF and the 5D. Even with a big difference in dynamic range video noise and resolution, If well handle during shootings and in post, the 5D can delivery impressive results.
@MeOrNotMeWhoKnows you should get a hand of both S5 and 5D3. Compare ML RAW and other camera's 10-bit LOG yourself AND share with us your own experience and 2 cents. We will be much appreciated. Calling and criticizing other users's ML videos garbage is harsh. Do you even use ML and graded with its 14bit colors?
@@wilkiek9988 I'm not a youtuber, why would I spend so much time and money doing comparison if I'm not into content creation? Sergio is a content creator, and Magic Lantern is pretty much the theme of this channel, it's the niche he chose here, so it only makes sense to suggest an idea for a comparison video to someone that makes those public videos. And the comment about most ML RAW videos on youtube being complete crap is also part of the suggestion, that there's an opportunity here to actually make something useful since most of the ML RAW stuff on youtube is not particularly useful. I did play with quite a few 14-bit ML RAW videos from APS-C cameras - EOS-M and 650D. And I wasn't impressed. High bit depth doesn't matter if the data itself is poor. It's like taking a blurry slow shutter handheld photo with a 100 MP camera and praising the high resolution - who cares about those 100 million pixels if they're all just blurry mess? That's one of the main problems with ML RAW cultists, and why I suggested the comparison video idea to Sergio - too many folks just keep raving about "14-bit magic colors" without understanding that it's just a file format, a way to store pixels, and it's often more important what the sensor + lens captured, rather than how many bits the file can support. Cause I get better video from 10-bit LOG Panasonic G9 (the older, original G9 from 2018) than from 14-bit EOS-M. The G9 sensor just captures better data - larger DR, less noise, and higher resolution. And 10 bits in LOG format is enough for even pretty heavy grading. At least with Crop Mood APS-C cameras I couldn't find any advantages compared to 10-bit LOG from MFT. What's the point of 14 bits of data if the data is just mediocre to begin with, if it's low DR, low res and noisy? I don't have any experience with 5D3, so maybe it's noticeably better, hence my suggestion to Sergio to do a comparison video, and actually show if a camera like 5D3 makes sense in 2024. Literally get it head to head against a 10-bit LOG body, shoot a few typical scenes (sunrise/sunset, mid day sunny, mid day overcast, indoors good light and indoors low light), and then work with files in DaVinci/Premiere, do typical color grades and actually show whether those "magical" 14-bit ML RAW files are any better than 10-bit LOG. I'm guessing that in some scenarios (very heavy grading) 14-bit 5D3 might actually win, and in most (typical grades) it will lose, but it's just a guess, and maybe I'm wrong here. I'm not sure whether comparison between 5D3 and BlackMagic 6K FF would be particularly useful though, since that's not what most people looking at 5D3 are concerned with. Those who think about spending $500-600 on 5D3 probably want to see how it compares to somewhat similarly priced cameras in ~ $500-1000 range, rather than $2.5k BlackMagic 6K FF. And those thinking about buying a BlackMagic 6K FF camera most certainly have the budget to look for a ton of alternatives in that price range, as well as workflow requirements (since it's pro-level bodies, thus paid work most likely), so 5D3 is not on their radar at all.
I use Panasonic mostly, Blackmagic occasionally. Panasonic from GH5 onwards is great no question about it. There’s still something about ML footage more than any other can thar resembles photochemical film which is why I keep coming back to it despite the obstacles over the past 10yrs. It has improved substantially in that time too. I picked up a 5D3 in great condition for a low price last year solely for ML. I will note a GH5 with a 0.64x speedbooster will take much better photos. @@MeOrNotMeWhoKnows As I said I only own a BM 6k FF and a BM 4K and can’t invest in other cameras for comparison, I can use only the one I own. I already did a comparison between the EOS M and the BM 4k. They can be matched easily. I think that bitrate data are not important if the final results are high end. What matter is not the camera but how you use it. So if for example the 5D Mark III could be matched to the BM 6K FF which is a fair superior camera, it means that the 5D even with all its bitrate limitations could be easily matched with other aps-c cameras under de $1000 budget. I’m a analog film aficionado so I honestly don’t mind about bitrate or ultra sharp images, I mainly look to the character, colors and look that a camera can delivery
ML is such a waste of time. The menus are impossible to make it work and there is no stable, user-friendly build. Steve Jobs' priority in making the iPhone into a good product was user experience. ML is just painful. Also, even if you get it to work you can never trust it 100%.
I love my Canon cameras with ML. I own a BMPCC 4k and a BMCC 6K FF. When I have to shoot something that gives me a cinematic look ( I also film in real 16mm) I prefer ML over Blackmagic. I never had problems with ML and if you know how to use it, it’s very stable.

Is there a crop mode in magic lantern in 5d mark3 too?
Thanks for great content. I'm curious about a comparison between 5D Mark III and the BMPCC 4K. My only camera at the moment is the eos-m, but if I was going to upgrade it would be one of those two. If the image quality is the same I guess the 5D Mark III would win on price and that you also get a good photography camera. But I really miss being able to use real video playback on the eos-m, so a Blackmagic camera with everything working smoothly is tempting...
Probably I’ll do a comparison between the 5D and the Blackagic 6k FF
@@russo-filmmaking That would be great!

No te preocupes
What’s the best ML settings for 5D3 to film in 2.39.1 aspect ratio continuously ?
you can shot in 3x3 mode and select in the movie tab aspect ratio 2.39:1 or if you don’t need a real time preview and want a better quality you can shot in anamorphic mode 1x3 and select in the movie tab aspect ratio 2.39:1 (in this case is better to activate card spanning). in both case you get continuous recording at 14bit. Follow the steps in the video for the best settings,
I’m sticking to my IR converted EOS M for now - but a 5D III for a nice enough price and I might pounce on it.

Thank you!
You only have to format your SD card in your computer using exFat and then copy ML on it. After that you can install it on your camera
@@russo-filmmaking Thank you so much for the reply and helping a beginner like me. Appreciate you.
So wait, you have to leave the SD card with the Magic Lantern software in at all times and only record to CF?
Magic Lantern does not install on the camera itself. In fact, if you insert any other card without Magic Lantern, the camera operates in its native firmware. You can install Magic Lantern on either the SD card or the CF card, and if you want, you can use only the SD card, only the CF card, or both. Using both allows for a higher data transfer speed, writing more megabytes per second, which enables you to use higher resolutions without issues
I tried ML on a 60D but it wasn't nice. The recording time was less than 10s and preview was choppy. I was recording 1920X1080 at 10 bit on a pro SD card.
The EOS 60D has an obsolete and old version of magic lantern, it doesn’t was developed has for the EOS M, EOS M2, 700D, 650D, 100D or 5D

Thanks

@@russo-filmmaking Im testing some clips I shot today now... it's better, but still not good enough to be usable... there are still jumps in every clip that makes using (the 5.7K at least) unacceptable. I'll have to try that first one you recommend that's closer to 1080 but widescreen
Hi Sergio, at 10.27 how come in the 5D can shoot exact 1920x1080 raw, but the EOS m can only shoot at that 1756x 970 resolution?
yes the EOSM can only shoot at 1756x979 1.6x crop, it’s not a real 1080P. The 5DIII can shoot in 1920x1080 with no crop.
@@russo-filmmakingguess I’ll have to invest in the 5D mkiii then😂
@@Lostinthemoors Wait, I’ll do a comparison between the EOSM and the 5D, then you’ll decide.
@@russo-filmmaking I'm sure there's pros and cons for both.
Hi I am using the same settings but frames are dropping in an anamorphic preset. My CF card is 64 GB but it is extreme pro only. Is it the reason for dropping frames?
Your CF card is a sandisk extreme pro? Do you use card spanning using both CF and SD cards?
@@russo-filmmaking Yes it is extreme pro. 64. I follow all your settings. Other 1080P settings are working but anamorphic preset is not working.
@@russo-filmmakingDuring recording it is giving a green signal but frames are dropping. Missing frames are there in exported video.
@@atulpurty2715 but the question is: are you using card spanning using the CF and the SD card ta the same time? If you don’t you ‘ll get problems. And if you use the two cards when you import the files into MLV app, are you doing it with the correct procedure?
@@russo-filmmaking Yes I am using the CF and the SD Card both and recording with the Card Spanning option. How to import the files in MLV, which is recorded with Card Spanning option? Is there any specific video on that?

So if you have access to an older APS-C/FF 10-bit LOG-capable body - this could be an interesting video to make: an unbiased comparison between "ancient hacked sensor, but 14-bit RAW" vs "newer technology, not much more expensive, but 10-bit LOG".
Thank you Sergio for another great video 👍🏼
You compare a $1449 iphone to a free software hack ! Apple`s Ai has you brainwashed. ML is Easy Peasy with a little homework.
