One of my favorite Robert plant quotes. Grapes...? The whole band are a masterclass of their own. When the guitarist does the dance-choir direction thing he is actually playing the theremin. It is a metal rod standing up that emits sound based on how you move in the electromagnetic field around it. It was pretty much unseen in the west at that point because I was invented in Russia not that much earlier. Jimmy Page on guitar (and theremin) is the founder of the band, the one doing the audio editing and leader for all their pursuits. He was an established session musician playing for the Rolling Stones and other big stars when he was a kid and also toured with the Crusaders, while underage, and Yardbirds before starting the band at age 24. He used his self-earned fortune to recruit his dream band and financed their early ventures out of pocket. He handpicked every member from around London. John Paul Jones on the bass guitar is an old session player friend of his and a multi-instrumentalist who was also involved in arranging their music together with Jimmy. Robert Plant pretty much lived the dream. he was laying tarmac and couldn't make it with any band no matter how hard he tried. He'd just gotten married and had a baby on the way at 19. Then Jimmy Page saw singing at a club, invited him to his boat house for a jam session and turned him into a star playing internationally for profit a month later! Imagine some huge star of your time showing up at tiny gig you weren't even paid for and then whisking you off into stardom overnight securing the future of your family and making all your dreams true :D John Bonham, commonly known as Bonzo, on drums! He was a friend of Plant and came recommended. jimmy went to see him play and immediately got him in the fold. Also they had the cutest nicknames for each other: Pagey, Planty (or Bob), Jonesy and Bonzo. That doesn't really reflect the permanent state of debauchery they were living it, but...
He is not conducting an orchestra. He is playing a theramin. It is the antenna he is moving his hand around. It changes frequency depending on where his hand is in proximity to the antenna.
Hmmm. I have a LOT of music recommendations I could give for you to react to, my friend! Do you want recommendations that aren't especially connected to the videos they're added on, or would you like recommendations in some other form? I'm happy to do whatever you prefer, Suzy.
It seemed that Robert was just messing around with this particular performance and not really giving it his all but still an interesting and raw performance.
Oops!!! Big mistake Suzzy. LZ will bring you thousands of new subscribers. I for one took my sub back when you called this "a whole Lotta noise". You reminded me of my father in 1969. May he RIP. I think this video isn't for beginners. At least understand they are a "band" made up of four of the greatest musicians to ever walk on the planet. RANT over. 😉
Greatest band to ever grace the planet! Try all their music...not one bad song! Their live performances are absolutely unbelievable!!
This song live in 1973 st Madison Square Garden is incredible!!
