@@crimjqt83 No way. Nu metal is based more on the vocal approach and the down tuned guitars. Rage was the first rap metal band. Korn took a different approach, just compare JD's vocals with Zack from Rage they are two completely different singers. Korn was very inspired by RATM though
For real, dude. I am rediscovering Korn now and fuck they are dark and weird. I love how something so strange could become so massive and world acclaimed... and hated for not being "trve" enough. Shit, they were the last great and original metal band.
@@Fabriziofilms Lol, spicy take there bucko. Biggest artist of the moment is arguably Lil Nas X. Not the same genre, but probably has people clutching their pearls way more than Korn etc. did.
My favorite JD era. Just got sober and his vocals were amazing. Years later he learned to sing more technical and sounded better in that regard but lost that rawness sound he had, in my opinion.
He was still using here. Nothing like music on drugs and alcohol. Not encouraging addiction here, just acknowledging the obvious. This shit is life itself…
He got sober during this tour. He kicked meth and started drinking instead then kicked alcohol in August 98', so bout 2 months sober here and still recovering for sure. ❤️
I was only 2 at this point and now I'm 19 and listening to songs that they had 17 years ago, I saw Korn a month ago at Wembley with Slipknot and it was the best night of my life. I would of loved to have seen them though around these times
Miss you Jake, I knew how much you loved these guys. I got my Korn tattoo right around the same time I knew you for those short months. We listened to Korn together but it was off a shitty iPod speaker so we never got the chance to jam how it should be. RIP friend. As I type this JDs playing the BPs on the intro to Shoots And Ladders. Hope they have stereos where you're at, turn it up!
He was one of the best groove drummers of all time he and Fieldy were one of the absolutely most devastating rhythm sections of the 90s it was such an awesome time seeing this lineup
Korn & Limp Bizkit on the stage together will always deliver I loved this whole concert though. I was only 1 when this happened wish they would do it again

These guys were ahead of their time. The crunchy dissonant notes and tones of the guitars. That clickey bass slap. Coupled with Jon's dark tortured vocals.
I really like how Munky wore full fucking mechanics jumpsuits. The man was clearly happy to be there delivering these gigantic riffs, yet he wasn't there either. And that's what made him feel comfortable.
I was 16 in '98 when I got all into KoRn! This would of blew my mind if I seen them then. Ended up seeing them in the 2000s without head w/ Mudvayne opening in SJ
same age bro....I saw them the following year. and again in 04/ definitely the golden era for korn. I can't even stand 30sec of their stuff basically after the issues album... but yes it was top notch back in the day
I remember my first time going to Korn concert my ear drums were very close to bleed because of the base, this tour was largely in closed venius, it was the loudest I ever feel.
This was so ripping. Spent so many good teenage years with Korn. Just coming back to them, and it still gives me goosebumps. The music is so raw and visceral.
@@KrisSchwarz98 Yup, when something gets big, everyone does it. I was listening to some Misfits earlier, and realized that every other punk band from the 70s sounds like them. That's just how music is.
I saw Korn right around this time...within a month or so of this. It was my first concert as a freshman in high school. The tsongas arena was within walking distance of my house and ALL of these bands rolled through. 1998-2002...if you can name a band that was popular during that era, chances are I saw them over at the tsongas arena with my buddies, getting stoned as fuuuuck in the pit. What a great time to be young....
I love this age of Korn…. The album Follows the Leader ages. They were absolutely incredible. When I listened the song “it’s on” at the first time. My head was up and down naturally and automatically!! That was when I was about 12 years old living in Japan. Oh I am a Japanese man, 38 years old now. I love Korn.
It's funny how this consert was recorded like a decade before I was even born and here I am at 1am jumping around my room and rocking out to this absolute masterpiece
This would have been by far one of the best Korn concerts to attend. I wish I was there. I was in 7th grade when this was going on. But I have been to a few good ones so I'm happy.
I wonder if Jon still has those pimp fucking custom PUMA warm up suits he wore pre-99'. I'd pay thousands for that silver one! This was the pimp-era for Korn, they went thug/gothic after this.
Wow, 23 years ago. I'm still watching it in mid/late 2021!!!! I was in my early 20's when KoRn was brought to my attention, I'm 47 now and I still LOVE KoRn!!!!! I own an 8 string Ibanez due to Head and Munky! Back then I had it on VCR tape and had to rely on my shitty little TV's audio. Today, I have my PC audio running into a mixer, out to a stereo receiver, surround sound with subwoofer and it sounds SICK!!!!
I was 34 when I found Korn actually going to Ozzfest to a Slipknot concert a friend I was with introduced me to Korn ,was a Korn fan ever since that was in 98' 🖤🤘
@@pistonhedd I'm well aware they use 7 string guitars. I've known that since the day they were brought to my attention. I got an 8 string to go 1 step further. I keep it turned a full step down to jam Korn, Pantera and Motley Crue covers.
It was this concert when I was 8 years of age i watched this already being a Korn fan and realised Ain no way I'm living a life without drums thanks to David and sure he may not be with em now and shits changed but here I am 30 years old with my drums about to jam to this again ..dreams come true just believe and strive... And yes I got this on a cassette then VHS
Korn was so unbelievably original. How many bands in their genre at that time could have incorporated a fucking bag pipe into a song. Their sound was fucking amazing and could not be copied. I was at this show! 18 years old! Crowd was fucking scary though... We were all so sweaty and gross, but it was poetry in motion haha
late 90's nu metal era is forever the shit.
the converse era
Then Adidas happened
Absolutely
..... I’m sorry, WTF? @CyberSpace TM @Carlos DCF
@cyberspace also the pony era
One of the best performances. They were the spirit of Numetal.
They are the first nu metal band and the best nu metal band!
@@LeadMe2TheBliss Rage Against The Machine was.
@@crimjqt83 No way. Nu metal is based more on the vocal approach and the down tuned guitars. Rage was the first rap metal band. Korn took a different approach, just compare JD's vocals with Zack from Rage they are two completely different singers. Korn was very inspired by RATM though
@@LeadMe2TheBlissRATM is more social while KoRn is more personal issues
Back in the gold old days! Silveria on drums with his Tama Sunrise kit, they are all smached and still sooo tight
17:48......once the crowd heard that bass line, you know their thoughts were "Damn...shit's about to get intense"
I thought exactly the same...
Ryan Shiffler I actually froze because I thought they were actually going to play! I would feel too bad for Jon though.....
Same
For real!! The first time I listened to that song was harsh! I can't play it anymore!
Yeah!
BBK is mental. Wish they had more tracks like that
Issues album is very mental..!!!
yes
Gotta be mental naming it Big Black Kock. I still play this shit like it just came out
Right! BBK's intro is off hook.
@@k1ockwork Big Black Korn
My God the snap of that snare drum is so powerful, David was the best
Wasn't he tho! Had a massive crush back then!
is the same from the album
crazy this was pop music for awhile. I hadn't realized just how popular they ended up becoming
Heavy, dark and raw music for the entire world to listen... only thing you hear today in mainstream media is for pussies and snowflakes
@@Fabriziofilms For real.
For real, dude. I am rediscovering Korn now and fuck they are dark and weird. I love how something so strange could become so massive and world acclaimed... and hated for not being "trve" enough. Shit, they were the last great and original metal band.
@@Ciervoaseado not trve because they were “pop” but they were definitely trve
@@Fabriziofilms Lol, spicy take there bucko. Biggest artist of the moment is arguably Lil Nas X. Not the same genre, but probably has people clutching their pearls way more than Korn etc. did.
this is the most 90s shit i have ever seen, and i love it
My favorite JD era. Just got sober and his vocals were amazing. Years later he learned to sing more technical and sounded better in that regard but lost that rawness sound he had, in my opinion.
Probably the drugs and alcohol helped with rawness. His vulnerability is clearer here I think in some ways
I like 1993-1996 JD better still love this one tho!
JD has always sucked as a singer. If you think hes the slightest bit good, your ears need checked and u need to up your standards..
This entire era of rock is where my fashion sense came from lol I'm 32 and I am STILL rocking the Puma's, Adidas & Dickies.
Same, 39.
Same here ma dude, and same age
Same here lol
same :D
same 40 in 2 days lol
I was only 2 at this point and now I'm 19 and listening to songs that they had 17 years ago, I saw Korn a month ago at Wembley with Slipknot and it was the best night of my life. I would of loved to have seen them though around these times
You were 2? Wow I was 15!
StayAtHomeDad I was in 6th grade newly into nu metal :P
avenged sevenfold... 90s Korn is alright, slipknot is terrible though.
avenged sevenfold... i was born july 98 so i was just a baby lol

And KoRn was so perfect! David was so tight! Everything was so powerful!
Korn puts on the best performances. Hands down. I wish I had seen them live
GET THE FARK OUT THERE AND DO IT!!!! ALWAYS CATHARTIC
This was definitely korn best live performance I've came across so far. The all round sound quality is really good!

You HAD to say that. Feel better? No one cares what you think.

superior drummer imo that snare is the sound of the 90's exploding
Um, I have never in my life been to a Korn concert. But after watching this, I feel like I can say that I have. The sound quality and video are beyond perfection and probably better than anything I could have seen at the actually show anyway. ❤

Korn is timeless, even more in 2021 with corona. One of the best band in the word
Just putting this out there... Fred's scream is waaay underrated.
I can't even stand 30sec of their stuff basically after the issues album... but yes it was top notch back in the day
in 04 I saw them at ozzfest...lol they knew what they'd better play. it was all the good old korn. there was only one new(at the time) song played.
was that in camden
I remember my first time going to Korn concert my ear drums were very close to bleed because of the base, this tour was largely in closed venius, it was the loudest I ever feel.
I got to see Korn perform back in 99 the year issues came and that was one of my best experience’s ever 🤟
My Family Values VHS was virtually worn out. Thank god for DVDs. Then thank god for UA-cam and being able to see the full sets from the bands.
This was so ripping. Spent so many good teenage years with Korn. Just coming back to them, and it still gives me goosebumps. The music is so raw and visceral.
Back when Nu Metal dominated the music scene. I miss those days

GOD bless Korn!!!

This is my fifth time watching this! Happy Birthday Brian "Head" Welch... And Ray Luzier!!!
I believe this was a time when there was little to no band backing track during live play. It's very raw.
I loved this Family Values tour, it was awesome! Add the amazing performances to the fact that I was 12 and it was mind blowing...
Just saw Primus last night. They killed it.
A packed floor, an endless supply of crowd energy, and no camera phones. These were truly the greatest times.

26:01 Gives me goosebumbs every single time.
They use 7 strings. They have used 8, but JD said they sound to much like Meshuggah.
I saw them live with Rob zombie in 1998 when i was 14. To this day it's still the best concert I've ever been to
What surprises me all the time is how live footage from many years ago sounds so much better than new. What the fuck happened to sound quality?
Everything sounds the same. Not true musicianship I believe
How much i miss this korn!!!i turn 40 but the first 3 albums are still in heavy rotation in my ipod!
