    My Wife and I love Dakota's comments and insight really makes our day - laughing. Your video's are very professional and interesting, no matter the subject. I think a GoPro mounted on Dakota would be a great idea. I can see a lot of Merch, with Dakota's comments and sayings. Bad Hooman is one of our favorites. Our dog Maxi, sits up everytime Dakota comes on screen. She loves watching, since she is part German Shep/Lab mix.

    For me.... Cars not getting up to speed when entering a highway and cars not doing the speed limit. Not doing the speed limit causes all kinds of dangers for everyone.

    • @bassplayerdirk
      @bassplayerdirk 4 роки тому +13

      That's a huge pet peeve of mine as well. Every day, I have to enter a major interstate near Chicago where the speed limit is 65mph and the flow of traffic is 70++mph. At LEAST half the time, there is some clueless person doing 45 or 50mph down the entire on-ramp and then obliviously merging in front of a car or worse, a truck, causing them to have to hit their brakes, often hard. It is SO DANGEROUS! As much as I want to ride up onto their bumper and push them faster, I always hang back a good distance because I know what's coming and don't want to be caught in it with them. I then have to floor it when I finally get to the merge-in. Those people should have their licenses revoked before they kill someone.

      I chewed an X gf out about that. Canadian so using KMs. She started to get on the hwy at 60-65 KM/h and I just lost my mind. WTF are you doing. It is no one job to slow down to let you on. It is up to you to merge AT highway speeds. If it going 120 you better be doing 120 before crossing that line to get on.

Your monetized now. Sell some merchandise and enjoy your job keep doing what you're doing. Don't think so hard just let it happen. Have a designer come up with some designs, find someone to do the printing and list your merchandise on your website. I'm sure you can figure it all out. You seem pretty darn smart to me. GOOD LUCK !!! You got this.

    1. You're amazing! I originally clicked on one of your videos because I was curious but since then I've been hooked. I have no connections with trucks or truck drivers but I still learn from your videos. I'm also going into a male-dominated career and to see another woman do the same thing, it offered a sense of community for me. After watching this video and hearing your story, it sounded almost exactly like mine! My career is not anything similar to what any of my family has done, I've always thought it was the coolest thing but never thought I could/would actually do it, and I also found it by taking a "gap year".
    2. Your camera guy is fantastic! My best friend also has a passion for videography so that part I do know a thing or two about. He loves to share his creations with me so I can give him my feedback, by doing this, I've learned what to look for. Before, I used to think he was crazy for making such a big deal out of such a little change to the video. Anyway, I noticed from the very beginning what an incredible product was being created on this channel!
    Keep up the good work!

    Advice for people driving cars around 18 wheelers.... Give that truck plenty of space. Just stay away from the truck if possible. They weigh an insane amount and can't stop or start like cars. Also they need crazy room to turn! If you want to stop at an intersection to help a truck then stop way back so it doesn't crunch you under it when it turns!

    Lots of time when traveling I stay in my slow lane "slower traffic keep to the right "right! I only use the left lane to pass a vehicle what I noticed even when staying in my right lane and doing the speed limit because I'm conscious about getting speed tickets and points on record which some people don't care about getting a speed ticket. Even though I'm in my right lane some of these truckers comes up behind me blowing the heck out of their horn like the trucker owns the highway which they don't the state troopers needs to do more tickets when a semi gets on my bumper blows the horn I wouldn't mind doing a speed trap operations. These truckers need to leave earlier from there destination rather than blowing their horn at vehicles because to meet their time frame. Thanks

    I love watching your videos. When I moved from LA to Wyoming the truckers were so much help guiding us thru the weather. Best advice I ever got when I moved was, if the weather is bad, get behind a trucker. They pack the snow and break up the ice on the road as they guide you on the highway. I was in a compact car but I got thru sketchy conditions with that advice.

    Lol, funny thing about the school, I went to College on a baseball Scholarship with Pro ambitions, after 1 season managed to blow out both my ACL and MCL in one play, so there went the baseball dream. Got my Engineering degree and started job hunting but the pay basically sucked and I already had my CDL-A so I took a driving job doing night shuttle runs with Turnpike doubles. Better money, no OTR and brand new equipment, after a couple years I got into the Heavy Haul/Oversize division and never looked back, more money than I could have ever made with my degree, and something different every day. Hard work, on call 24/7, out in all weather, but big $$$ and I really enjoy the job. Navigating the idiots is always a challenge, but I've been a combination of lucky and good, no accidents, tickets or DOT violations and I do my best to keep it that way. You seem like a pretty professional driver, stay that way and don't let anybody tell you "girls can't drive big trucks" because it's total BS, I've seen a lot of girls who can put most of today's steering wheel holders to shame, so keep up the good work.

    I have to admit, you being 27 and a female that drives cross country, you are amazing. I use to go over the road with my father before back in the early 2000s and before. Your videos are lovely and inspirational, if I could recommend one video, id like to see one with a dispatcher.

    I like your videos. I think BKM does amazing videos on your travels. In my spare time I watch a lot of different video topics in which traveling is filmed. Your guy is the best in making it interesting. From the different shots from the drone and lighting to music background is second to none. I am a retired law enforcement officer and his filming of the trailer fire was spectacular. Hopefully nobody was hurt in that fire but his capturing that scene and the lighting and color was great. Keep up the good work. It’s very obvious you like what you do.

    Randomly came across your channel and when the question by Janelle Hunt popped up ~21:50 mark of what truck drivers wish other drivers on the road knew to make driving safe for everyone, it instantly made me think of my own situation since I got into motorcycling just over a year ago, and actually do most driving these days via motorcycle including running errands and commuting, and like this question presented, there are many things typical drivers don’t understand about riding a motorcycle that I think they should know, to help making driving safer for everyone as well. Also, I realize there are plenty of jerk motorcyclists on the road, but many of us are normal folk not intent on speeding past you and cutting you off on the freeway at 100+ miles an hour (most motorcyclists hate those reckless riders too in fact). Keep up the great work though! Fascinating collection of videos to have come across 😁

    Your doing a great job. It is great to see women who get out there and get it done in a tough industry like trucking, especially in the over the road driving segment. As far as the car drivers out there, they need to remember to give trucks a little extra room, if you can't see the mirrors of a truck when your behind it, the truck driver can't see you. Also the turns, trucks need to swing out wide for a right turn, keep back a bit and allow the driver to swing out and make the turn, don't rush up and then almost get crushed by the trailer wheels. Also, don't pull right up to the line in a left turn lane, many times a truck swinging out to make a right turn will almost clip a car sitting in the crossing street left turn lane. Please, just give us some room and try to respect the size difference.

    Attractive and intelligent (and educated), well spoken and well presented (with a talent for presentation, no wonder someone asked if you were an actor!), far from the trucker stereotype, you could do well as a TV presenter or similar. But it is good to see that for now you are following your heart's desire for a life on the road in a big rig.

    Regarding those runaway truck ramps, I saw a short video about those once. Apparently, it's not as simple or clean as I thought. The truck doesn't just pull in and gradually slow down to a safe stop. Fortunately, they aren't used often, but when they are, it can be quite messy, especially with fully loaded trailer. Weight shifts and sand is far from smooth. Trucks tip over, trailers can break open and merch can end up all over the place. I genuinely hope you never need to use one, but if you do, it's still a great alternative to going off a cliff, hitting other vehicles, or crashing in general. Stay safe out there! Thanks for sharing your amazing journeys with us!!!! Also, shoutout to camera man!!!! I know his name but not sure if he wants it out there.... You guys really do make an amazing team! His crazy awesome tech skills and your vibrant personality make for some of the best videos on UA-cam!!!!! 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗
