just left your video with Carson and your buddy. figured its a good time to subscribe. I've gone across the country a half dozen times with my buddy camping on the way. However, he sold his motorcycle and bought a 26' "camping " trailer. He likes "clamping", So, I'm on my own. I've always liked dispersed camping and will start this spring with a new tent and my new plain jane jeep. I'm going to confine myself to Michigan this year, being a Michigander. your videos are informative, Thanks!
Hey Jason, great video! This is exactly what I needed to see. I’m getting into camping and really want to do some dispersed camping here in Michigan. I’m in the SE lower portion of the state so am pretty much limited to rec areas until I can make my way further north later in the year. There is one wild game area I’ve been eyeballing and looking for camping info on but am struggling to find a clear answer as to limitations. Great content and best of luck on the channel 🙏🏼
it is hard ppl are so weird and info is all over the place like this guy said 400 feet from water and its 200 ppl do not care if they are telling the right info any more, and every one thinks that there camp site is g45 classified. u literally can camp any were in a national forest, places u cant camp it tells u literally that simple. use common sense u wont go to jail for camping in a spot but u can be fined.
Pigeon river forest north of Gaylord has some of the best dispersed camping available in the state. Dozens of sink holes, trout lakes and 3 blue ribbon trout streams and the states largest elk heard. Moral mushroom hunting, shed hunting and wild leeks are just some of the great things you can find there. Enjoy
I have been watching several videos about van camping. Usually they are in quartsite Arizona or other parts of the desert. Occasionaly they are in Florida, California or out east. I was so excited to find a Michigan tour. I live in Wisconsin but got to go to Michigan a couple of summers ago with my daughter. Definitely a trip of a lifetime. Are you from Michigan
Very useful info. Traveling from NW Indiana to Manistee National Forrest tomorrow and pretty much plan on showing up putting my tent down and enjoying the great outdoors
Getting ready to leave for Holland, Manistee, then not sure but a big adventure. Will be leaving today or tomorrow. Like follow the edge all around Michigan, next summer going to spend it all summer in the UP, so very excited!
Yeah guys I highly suggest you get a State Rec on your vehicle. Last year it was $16 and it allows you to get into any state park. I use mine at Warren Dunes and Van Buren State Park
Also yeah Lake Michigan if you were to fall asleep on the dunes and a flash flood came. You could be swept off the almost cliff-like dune edge. Sharp dead trees at the base
I’ve only camped in areas known for camping where there’s like a trailhead or something to park at. So on national forest lands can you just find a spot to pull off of a dirt road and leave the car there for the weekend? I’m trying to plan a camping trip for Hiawatha on Lake Michigan and I see a good amount of open shoreline a few miles from the highway I just don’t know what we’d do with our cars. Also if you’ve been there and you know a great spot that’s be really helpful. Sorry man, it’s just that I learned more from this a few of your videos than from reading every government website on the matter of dispersed camping😁
Lots of private timberlands open for public use.Just call the company to get permission for overnight camping. Did that in the Huron Mountains last year. They just have you sign off on getting hurt, they're not responsible.
Not really. State land is more of an over arching name. State land includes game areas, parks, wildlife or any land owned by the state. Forest is an actual designation.
Actually, just the opposite. Michigan is one of the very few states that allow free dispersed camping. Most states ban dispersed camping in their state forests.
Yup! As always do your research. The web is making it so easy now that the states are posting everything. Most important... Just get outside and explore!

Thanks for the support. I need to get back at making more videos this summer!
I take my cards with me when I leave. I talked to green jeans about it once and I brought up your exact points. He agreed haha.
Your channel has been very helpful for me. Thank you.

Going to be a great weekend! Thought about getting to Manistee area this weekend. However I had some last minute issues come up. Have fun!
That ledge was at the pictured rocks / I was hoping to see and hear more about that

I live in Michigan lower peninsula. If you haven't been, sleeping bear dunes, is one of the best if not they very best.
Thanks for all the good information. Do any of these sites or apps charge a fee
Thanks for the links.

$16? Where did you get yours? I believe mine was $12 this year with my plate renewal and that's more than I've paid in the past.
Also yeah Lake Michigan if you were to fall asleep on the dunes and a flash flood came. You could be swept off the almost cliff-like dune edge. Sharp dead trees at the base
Have you been to the two hearted river camp ground in up? It's a very nice place.

Awesome!!! I didn't mention those as I was under the impression overnight camping wasn't allowed. Didn't realize some would allow if you call and ask.
@@cjoutdooradventures4896 Lyme Lumber does. They own property from the IR&HB big rock cut to Arvon's Slate Quarries near Huron Bay.
Супер, как у вас там хорошо класс!!
Michigan dnr officers said just put diver license on permit so no personal info left behind.
Thanks for the tip!!
Is state land the same as state forest?
Not really. State land is more of an over arching name. State land includes game areas, parks, wildlife or any land owned by the state. Forest is an actual designation.
So in other words Michigan is too governmenty. Camp in a different state.
Actually, just the opposite. Michigan is one of the very few states that allow free dispersed camping. Most states ban dispersed camping in their state forests.
Great share. Ya differant rules per state.
