    We spend 5 days boon-docking at Buck Lake Near Oscoda, Michigan. I explore the lake with my kayak watching, birds, frogs, turtles and even a few water snakes. We get some van cleaning, organizing, and painting done as we prepare to cross into Canada.

    I liked it. Even though I'm from the general area (Mio) I don't know where this lake is. So many of these videos don't give directions. Thanks, I enjoyed it. Jerry

    Great job on the video! It’s amazing how many varied opportunities for camping that Michigan has . Heading up there this summer from Indiana. Hope to check out some of the Manistee national forest lands. Have fun!

    Dispersed camping on state land can put you on some nice camping spots, even the state forest campgrounds are nice.

      You are right Bob! We found state reserve land in Maine that had some of the best free campgrounds that we have ever located.😀

    Ok I know I have a ton of videos to watch, just found your channel today and since my wife and I are from Michigan and are building a Promaster it was only appropriate to watch the Michigan one first 😂 love how laid back and relaxing your video was. Some of the channels out there glamour everything so much you know it’s bull, your drone shot were amazing! I am really looking forward to watching the rest of your videos……. Jim👍

      Welcome to our channel and congratulations on your Promaster! We hope you will enjoy our videos and use some of the free camping locations we showcase. We leave coordinates in the video description for each location if you want to go check them out. One of my favorite places we have ever camped is in Michigan! We did a video on it called “High Rock bay”..well we loved it minus the bugs 😂 We have all the states divided up in the playlists. Let us know if you have any questions, we have been on the road for 4 years now. Thank you for watching and we hope to meet you on the road someday.

Her reply? That is wonderful honey, can I please go to the bathroom now, lol 😂

    love the sound of the boat and water genitally floating paddling around, as a child lived on a lake and spent summers and winter's on the lake..it had a rich history of the Native American's and it had 3 Islands all connected by rock bar's you could swim out to, if you knew where they were and then could walk out to all the Islands...

    There’s a fun Facebook page called Kayaking With Dogs you might like to check out. Also, there have been problems with super algae blooms in many lakes and rivers across the U.S. that have killed some dogs😢. Safe travels and thanks for all the work you put into these great videos!

    Great droning and that music to go with it was cool. I felt like I was on that ride at Disney World again. Why is there a set distance from the water determining the length of time camping?

    • @oneadVANtureatatime
      @oneadVANtureatatime  4 роки тому

      +Ron Wasser I’m trying to remember this video. I’m pretty sure we were talking about being 200 feet away from the water. In this spot a ranger told us we could stay 16 days as long as we were 200 ft from a water source. I hope this answers your question.

    Do some states make it easier than others to boondock?

    • @oneadVANtureatatime
      @oneadVANtureatatime  3 роки тому

      Yes! there is a TON of BLM (bureau of land management) land in the west! It is much harder to find in the east. We noticed Maine has Public Reserved Land which is very similar. Also most National Forest allow a 14 day stay limit unless otherwise posted. You just have to look or research a bit more west of the Mississippi. Except maybe TEXAS.... almost little to no public land that we found. Please correct me if I wrong about texas...I would love to learn of some!!

    • @oneadVANtureatatime
      @oneadVANtureatatime  5 років тому

      +John tatman In the west we were using ” on X hunt” because of all the public land access. Now in the east mostly ”ioverlander ”and just recently we joined ”Boondockers Welcome” We still occasionally check out ”freecampsites.net” Sometimes we just wing it 😆

    "No see-ums" During your travel Michigan-to-Maine did you encounter many no see-ums? What are the best months to totally avoid them?

    • @oneadVANtureatatime
      @oneadVANtureatatime  4 роки тому +1

      Ok we had a no see-umms attack in Louisiana in May. Then we drove up to the Great Lakes in early June. We didn't see any the rest of the year. That said we had a huge problem with Black flys most of the summer. A local in the upper peninsula of Michigan told us the black flies can have several hatches during the summer and some years are better than others. Let's just say a good bug screen is a must.😀

    On average, how much time do you spend searching for free campsites?

    • @oneadVANtureatatime
      @oneadVANtureatatime  5 років тому +1

      +Sandra Serra We usually start with ”ioverlander, boondocking, on xhunt, freecampsites.net, harvest host, boondockers welcome.com and google maps. ” So I would say 10 to 20 minutes tops per site. We try to stay a few extra days at the ”best spot ever” camping locations😎
