    This is the perfect tutorial I was looking for. I’m a natural redhead who’s losing pigment as I enter my 30s. I have tried semi permanent glosses to boost my colour but they all washed out within 5 days.
    The henna gloss is the perfect solution as it’s pigmented but allows dimension. And of course, it doesn’t cause the same damage as other dye methods.
    I’m definitely going to implement this next month when I top up my roots!

      I think it will definitely work to boost your red! Just be sure to strand test and remember more conditioner in the ratio = less intense dye! Also the dye always looks a bit more saturated the first couple days. Happy henna-ing! 💓

      I am allergic to hair dye. So I also dye my grays with henna and indigo. It is definitely a ritual. Also it allows me to grow my hair long and luxurious at my age. Almost 60.

    You're totally selling it! I've been coloring/having my hair colored since 15 (and I'm about to hit 60) and I'm used to the mess etc., and this sounds like fun; I've had every shade of red, black, brown, blond, purple & more. But I'm lucky to have a younger sister who is an amazing stylist, and she would kill me, so I'll just live the henna life vicariously through you. I do think that it looks like you were born a redhead, it goes so well with your skintone.

    I found this after I hennaed my hair 😂 but I did essentially exactly what you did. Half conditioner and left in for 40 minutes. I’m a natural auburn/redhead but fading at 29 with some white hairs. It covered all my white hairs!! It’s pretty orange in the front but I’m sure it will chill out over the next few days. I love it!

    Indigo is all natural and beneficial for hair. I use it to mix in with the henna for warm dark brown hair. You can use various percentages for different colors. There are herbs like Amla or cassia that can lessen the warmth of henna mixes if one chooses.

      I once added a touch of indigo for a deep auburn!

    Henna sooq recommend not diluting the henna with oil or condish if you want to dye your hair in order to get the max color payoff - what do you think? They do recommend mixing with oil and condish(gloss)of course if you want to use it as a treatment more for the health/appearance of the hair.

    • @evangelinemolly
      @evangelinemolly  8 місяців тому +4

      Yes, diluting it dilutes the colour pay off for sure but that’s why I like it! It creates a more natural red rather than being super vivid.

    If you keep doing your whole head with henna it's gonna eventually turn a deep burgundy, purple color. Henna doesn't fade so you're just darkening it more and more each time you do a full head.

    • @evangelinemolly

      Very true! With a henna gloss for an hour, it’s a lot more forgiving though. I don’t always bring the extra mud to the ends. It’s resulted in more of a rich copper. I’m switching to just roots going forward to opt for more of a strawberry blonde though it will take a while to get there lol

      Thank you!! I actually cut my own hair! If I went to a hair dresser I would say, a little bit of layering around the face and long-ish wispy bangs that can be worn in the front or pushed to the side curtain-style. Hope that helps!

    Do you find that the henna leaves an earthy smell on the hair for a few days after dyeing? And if so, have you found any way of remedying that?

    • @evangelinemolly
      @evangelinemolly  7 днів тому

      Yes, it does! I only notice it the first day when it’s dry and then for a week or so after when it’s wet. I find mixing the conditioner to create the gloss, and a couple drops of rosemary helps a bit in the moment but I’m not sure it helps with the after smell

    Hello! Is it the more often you re-apply it, the darker it gets? Also, do you know if you can’t use chemical dyes after with indigo, cassia, and amla? Or is it also with henna? I’m doing research and everybody says something different

    • @evangelinemolly
      @evangelinemolly  Місяць тому

      It will definitely get darker! Especially if you are doing full applications. Since I use a henna gloss for only like 45 mins, it’s a lot more forgiving if I re-apply. I’m not sure about the chemical dyes with the other plant powders. Some people have had success dyeing over henna, it just has to be done very cautiously and it’s a risk!

    Loved your video. Subbed immediately. Sorry if I missed it - but, how often do you henna your hair? I started henna dyeing in my teens. Sadly moved to the chemical dyes. Now in my 50’s and greying, I’m back with a bang! ❤your hair!

    do you do anything to your eyebrows to make them match better? Im asking because my eyebrows are quite dark, Thanks.

    • @evangelinemolly
      @evangelinemolly  5 місяців тому

      Not currently! My eyebrows are pretty fair so it’s easy to tint them red with brow products. I’m planning to try putting henna on them next time I dye it though. The thing about henna is, it will never lighten hair, only change the colour!

  • @julietheis1468

    Hi, this is a very helpful video. I would like to use henna. I'm a strawberry blond but greying. How did you mean with henna and conditioner ...are you adding a tablespoon of dry powder to conditoner? I love your hair!!

    • @evangelinemolly
      @evangelinemolly  8 місяців тому

      So after you have done the dye release overnight (adding water to henna), you add conditioner the next morning before applying to your hair to make the henna paste smoother and to slightly dilute it. Be sure to strand test as henna on grey hair can create quite a vivid orange. It might make for some very nice highlights actually!

      Ooh yes henna is not a route I recommend lightly! Only for those very committed and interested. I hadn’t heard that about curly hair though. In forums some people say it relaxed their curls but I suppose there are so many different hair textures!
