Great video! I am very lucky I found your video. This is exactly what happened to me when I used Duplicolor clear over my base coat. I tried wet sanding and buffing, but it didn't improve the gloss. I will try the Spray Max 2K Clear. Thank you!!
2k is the best. As a goalie and an airbrush artist I used to take my masks somewhere to get clear. Now I do it myself with spray max!! Best product for sure. Durable and wet looking even with pucks flying off of it. If you want you can Chk out my channel to see some results. I just cleared a motorcycle helmet this morning, new video tonight on spray max
Omg thanking you for your time on this, I'm going to repaint my car a different colour and was wondering about how dupli colour was going to go with 2k clear coat, phew! You answered my question. 😉😂
Dupalacolor is a laciquer based paint. It's not going to be glossy, it has to be cut and buffed. Meaning sand the base coat. Then spray the clear. Then wet sand the clear with appx. 6000, grit . Then buff and polish the clear. Be very careful not to burn through the clear or base coat. I just did the back half of my Chrysler sebring. But I haven't sprayed the clear yet. Also talk to someone who would know the correct grits of paper for wet sanding. 6000 sounds a bit high, but my friend who's a mechanic told me to use 6000. He was a body man at one time. Thanks for the video enjoyed it.
Did your base color dry dull or off color at any point? I'm paint matching some mirrors victory red and it dried almost pink before clear. Thinking I was sold and old can
I did repair the crack but I didn’t highlight that part in the slideshow because it didn’t turn out perfect and the emphasis of the video was more about the Duplicolor paint system and spray max 2k clear coat. I don’t know if I mentioned it but I’m not a professional.

How long did you wait before spraying the 2k clear over the duplicolor Base?
Thanks so much for this video! This answered my concern as to whether a spray max 2k will adhere on top of duplicolor.

How many coats did you apply with the 2k clear?
LUCKY13 ! I only had one can of spray max 2k , so it was enough to put one heavy coat.
How many cans of duplicolor base did yiu need for the bumper?
Stacks Beezly two cans of primer and three cans of base

Yes, the base coat is dull and a few shades off. The clear coat is what really brings out the true color and shine.
@@handymanjake1039 awesome thanks I'll shoot the clear in the morning and go from there!
Nice work! How is your clear coat holding? I heard that duplicolor (enamel) and 2k clear don't or may not work well?
Robert Grlic Its still holding up and looking good, thanks!
Why not fix the crack with 5 minutes worth of bondo work?

So you used a 1k clear first and then the 2k clear correct?
Yes
Dang one heavy coat of clear ? Should be one medium wet coat then one regular coat . Just like factory
Looks very rough .. the color is t too terrible tho
How long did you let the basecoat cure before applying the 2k?
