Fantastic information…I’m starting to catch on as to what to look for. I won’t mention any names (2 are in this video), but I’ve long had the gut feeling that certain designers are overrated, but that’s mostly my untrained opinion. And I don’t intend to discourage others from buying those super popular patterns. Last year, I knit one of the most popular pullovers on Ravelry, and it hit me high on the throat, looked terrible on me-and now I’m in the midst of frogging it😮

      Thank you!
I have made so many sweaters that fit so badly! Over the years I learned to see what is wrong with the design and how to fix it.
It was so hard in the beginning to write up a pattern that shapes back and front necklines and shoulders. Most designers have their templates and probably do not want the challenge of changing their set patterns. I wish that creating knits that fit was number one on any designer list. A lot of designers claim their designs have the perfect fit because they use short rows to build up back and so on.... But I know now that it is not a good fit, it never will be and there are different ways to really shape the knitwear better. Most designers work with specific ( sometimes extremely expensive) yarns and most times that yarn goes to waste. I hope thru these videos I will be able to share my experience and maybe advice on how to make a design fit better.

Great video, thank you! Very knitting focused with great information and pictures. So many knitting videos have Way too much discussion on non-knitting topics. Hands-down one of the best I’ve seen. Thank you so much for this format and for sharing.

Thank you so much for making this helpful video! You have saved me a lot of trouble and discouragement. I’m wanting to make my first ever cardigan and I would have been so upset if the shaping didn’t work out after all of that work

Great video! I’m a fairly new knitter and these are all the reasons I haven’t knit allot of garments. If I’m going to spend that much time and $$$ I want it to fit!! Can you recommend any patterns that do have all the shaping you talk about for a good fit already in the pattern? I’m not experienced enough to modify on my own.
