    First of all, let me say that I am so happy to have found your channel! You do a wonderful job of explaining so many things. I am a very new knitter (finally learned in August '22 after crocheting for 30 years!) & I agonized for a while over interchangeable needle sets. My usual go-to are Chiagoo fixed circulars, but there have definitely been times where having interchangeable has been if not a necessity, at least helpful. I learned quickly that I CANNOT stand the plain plastic cables (ala Hiya Hiya, KnitPicks, etc) & coated metal cables are a must for me since I use magic loop for many items. Other "must have" for me are pointy tips with a long taper. After watching MANY videos comparing different needle sets & trying single fixed circulars from many brands, I still couldn't decide which one would be best for me. Then, I just happened upon another video reviewing the Gold Tip needle set...They seemed to check ALL of the boxes for me YAY! I ordered them & OMG....LOVE! they are a big more grippy than my usual metal needles, but as you said, the more I use them, the 'slippier' they become. once I discovered that, I simply took a piece of tack cloth & ran all of my Gold Tip needles over that a few times & that helped to break them in a bit before using a certain size for the first time. No issues with cables coming undone! I could not be happier with my decision & like you wish they had better marketing to get the word out for them. Value for the price was wonderful, the quality is wonderful & the case is the perfect size & feels wonderfully made. I don't worry about having more room in pockets since I have put together little notions kits (stitch markers, measuring tape, small scissors, etc.) in little zipper pouches that I keep with each project/WIP, but I can see that being something that would vary with personal preference. The cost was comparable to other high quality needles without being excessive which I appreciate, especially being a new knitter, I didn't want to make an investment in a needle set only to be disappointed. I love the needle length (I am tall & have larger hands, so I appreciate the 6" needle length & LOVE that the sizes are so clearly marked on the needles. Aside from being able to create my own custom Holy Grail needle set from scratch? I couldn't have asked for a better interchangeable set! Excited to hear that she is planning to create a 4" set for smaller items!

    This is a great review. Thank you! Completely agree with your comments about Gold Tip’s needles, and their marketing (which is almost nonexistent). Love the needles, but it almost feels like they were in such a rush sell the needles that the never gave any thought to marketing them. The company even fails to mention that the needles are metal. Nor is there any information as to whether they contain nickel. That’s an important piece of information for those knitters out there who are allergic to it. Particularly when one considers the cost of the needles.

    Thank you, thank you, and again thank you for this informative review about Gold Tip Needle sets. I just received mine and oh my GOD, they are beautiful, wonderful to hold and I am going to start a lace wrap. I am truly surprised that Gold Tip company does not advertise. I own all of Signature Needle Arts sets and am losing interest because of the connection coming apart. It is annoying. I also contacted Signature Needle Arts complaining about this issue.
    Thank you very much.

    I ordered these based on this review. I am in love with the long needle length! My hands remain pain-free after hours of knitting. Love the leather case. Love the long gold tip! The shortest cord is too short, in my opinion, but otherwise, they are my new go-to needle!

      Loving them too, :)
      I ordered straight from the site instead of going through a shop .
      I also think the short cord is a bit too short. Would love something that combines two cords like other sets .
      At time of purchase I ordered an extra cord , 50" but they just tucked in a 40 " instead in the case. :( I contacted them asking about how to exchange and got an email with a promise a month ago that they would get the 50" cord out to me, with a way to exchange for the extra 40" since it was not in any sort of packaging .
      I think they are still a bit small yet to deal with sales on their own , but so glad I got t my hands on this lovely set

      @@NYKnitter I hear a few complaints about separate cables and needles. Wrong items are being shipping out. Probably due to lack of good packaging. The set is packaged amazingly but single tips or cords are not. It creates problems. And i wish there was a connector for two cables. I will try to reach out to Suzanne again and let her know all that.

      @@purLZknitting Thank you , an extra was just placed inside with my set, so I did get a cable, just not the one I ordered. :(
      Has been a month since a very kind email from them (paul?) saying they would get it out right away, but perhaps they are just over whelmed with all these sudden orders. Word of mouth and all that. If the shop that carries them would have carried the extra cable I needed , I would have ordered via them . I have these and totally agree they are so nice! And the case is lovely. But that smallest cable is just to short. With only 4 cables included in the set I ordered extras.( I've been a bit spoiled with the double pack from lantern moon which is such a good value and includes that tightener) I do wish there was a connector to transfer or extend cables. I know you like the barber cable thing, but I'm not a fan. I prefer the safety of a connector. A shorter set or dpns would be exciting and I'd totally buy them and then more cables 🤣 it's the add on of extra cables that always get me lol oh and I can confirm that It was free shipping when I bought my set through the gold tip website

      Good thing you mentioned the lantern moon cable packs. I will ask Suzanne if she will be willing to update the quantity and the tool in gold tip set. And I agree you can never have enough cables! I need at least double the amount!
      How do you like your Gold Tip needles? Are you a tight knitter?

    • @hemmerable
      @hemmerable Рік тому

      @purLZknitting moderate tightness. I would never be considered a loose knitter for sure! I just like the look and feel of a neat little slightly snug stitch lol but nothing that's ever an issue. Although over the years I've had to learn to cast on a bit looser to save myself some grief. 🤣 but i find the one size larger needle trick is a good one when working with a non stretch fiber like cotton or linen for that. And yes I totally use the safety pin trick to keep my chiagoo bits from getting lost. 😎 I saw that on Instagram it wasn't my idea , but it works. 😁

    • @hemmerable
      @hemmerable Рік тому +1

      @purLZknitting I had to finish the short rows on the back of the sassy sweater and thought since I'm now knitting and purling straight across it would be a good opportunity to switch. Ive just begun to transfer from some lanternmoons. I do find the goldtips to be quite grippy so far but time will tell if they stay thay wsy. I'm holding a nonsuperwash merino with a silk mohair. And mohair can be tough on a needle. It's rubbed the lettering and numbers right off my lanternmoons unfortunately 😕 although it happened with nutiden also. So I'm inclined to think it's just going to happen with the lanternmoons. I still love them. But I love the feel of a good wood needle . I'm enjoying my new gold tips and I think the extra length and tapered tip is a winning combo. And the join is better than the lanternmoons for sure! But the 1990s sweat suit swish factor is for sure present ! But I'm not sensitive to that. I just thought it was a funny connection 🤣

    Thank you for your videos. Thanks to you, I learned about Gold Tip needles. I have many needles and always choose them depending on the type of yarn, but I also always look at the tip of the needle and its length before buying. I also like needles with a long tip and long needles. Such a long tip I also saw in SKC ebony needles. Longer needles of 14cm are again offered by the Seeknit company. But SKC and Seeknit have not-so-great cables. It would be nice to see long needles with a long tip, slick and with good cables. I hope that such will be made someday. Out of curiosity, I ordered Gold Tip and for comparison, Signature Needle Art. I'll test them and probably sell the ones that suit me the least.

I have most brands you have critiqued and agree with every word! Swivel cables suck! Recently I bought a luscious silver yarn, without realizing it might be a challenge to knit on all my silver needles. I searched for colored needles and ordered a 3mm fixed Signature. It arrived at the same time I came upon this review. It is a mystery why they charge so much for such a crappy product. The cable was cheap plastic, the join to the needle rough and even the join of the tip to the barrel not smooth. It was returned. But based on this review I instantly ordered a 3mm GT needle to try it out. Hopefully it will arrive today! So hoping you are feeling better soon!

I bought a 40” cable and 3 more needle sets. Since those purchases arrived, I have been using them non-stop! My stitch definition is gorgeous - and I am a very experienced knitter who thought I was pretty good to begin with. Today, I bought the case, another cable and a size 6 US needle. I rarely use anything bigger. I will buy anything new from this company the moment I know it is released!

Its a tiny bit longer and wider and that is what give Gold Tip the stable join of cable to the needle. I dont even use the key to tighten it. Its that amazing! Hummm. I appreciate your thorough review and I've been eyeing these needles for a time as they are so beautiful. However, I very much disagree with your review of the Signature cables. I love them. It may look like they are kinking when you do what you do but my experience is that this just a curl, not a kink. I find they work very well for me when I do magic loop, which I know is one of your favorite methods. So, that seems to suggest that these things are so very unique! You also like Addi click and I absolutely hate Addi click and Lantern Moon were your least favorite and they are my most favorite of all. . .and I have a LOT of needles! So. . . to each her own. That being said, I would love love love to get these but I don't like long tips. Since you speak to Suzanne and she was thinking of the 4" tip, is there any update about that?

    Hello Lena, I'm really curious about these needles. How do they compare to the addi square rocket needles? I know that you don't like addi's joins, but what about the tips? I'm a tight knitter and a needle pusher, so I'm most curious about the point sharpness/taper and the smoothness of the needle. I'm currently saving up for an interchangeable set, so I'd be very grateful for your advice.

    • @purLZknitting
      @purLZknitting  Рік тому

      Hello!
      The joins and tips of GT is what sets them apart! The tip is sharp but not overly so. It is sharper than addi but not as sharp as hyah hyah. The tip points are the same as chiaogoo. The length of the tip is what makes the stitches glide easier, especially if you are a pusher. But these needles have to be broken in. In a day or two of knitting they will become smooth, not as grippy as when they are new.
      I would wait till you will be able to get a set, but you can get individual needle from goldtipneedles and try it out before investing in a set. You might have to pay shipping fee though.

      @@debwillner5598 i prefer 6” over 5”. So yes. It feels really good. But I really need 4” for small circumference work.

      Thank you for this extremely thorough review of the Gold Tips. I don’t even recall how I came across them, maybe a YT video was recommended to me. I ordered one size 3.25mm to use for a half and half wrap. So far I am liking them a lot and was considering buying the full set so this video was extremely helpful. How do you feel they compare with your Lantern Moon set? I am considering getting a set bc their swivel cords work well with my Knit Pro Rosewood tips. Again thank you for this wonderful review.

    This is the first time I see an interchangeable needle set with 6inch needles! Do you know of any other?

      Hello!
      Signature Needle arts have 6” and the are similar to gold tip needles. But the cables and joins on signature needle arts are not comparable to any needle on the market. They are not something I like to work with.

      @@victoriahenry8265 you can get most used size from gold tip needles site and the same from signature needle arts and they them out side by side. Beware that signature needle arts will cost you 4 times more.

      Goldtipneedles.com is Suzanne Lek site
      Also, primroseyarn.com . There is one other store online but thats it. Just search for gold tip needles online and three options will show up.
