I found this 5 Speed Manual 1999 Mustang GT New Edge on a classified online that's been sitting in the same place for years. I bought it, and had it towed home and tried to start it.....

Sam listen to me. Fix this mustang. Replace the cylinder heads and it’ll be good again. Thanks 👍🏼
Heck just replace the bent valve... Sure there's still the head gasket labor but replacing that valve adds maybe 15 minutes to the process and each valve can be had for under 7 bucks on rockauto...
If you looked at the cameras date it says this was filmed back in last summer, so there’s no telling where this car is now
Since no one said it. LS SWAP IT!
yes fix the mustang please.
I would love to have it lol
Sam giving unfinished projects a new home... "If it's going to sit unfinished, it may as well sit unfinished here on my property."
The cows love the "toys" on the farm.
Stepmom likes it when Sam is "shooting the starter fluid in the intake".
If only sam actually “fixed” something. I dont remember him actually doing a car start to finish by himself.
He does seem to lose interest quickly.

This is the first time seeing his channel, he is not a car guy, barley has the ability to change a battery, dont know how he got his subscribers, but I won't be one of them
Only one cylinder head. Keep it as low budget as possible without any additional efforts ;-)
Exactly! Cheap to go and have some fun with your stepmom in it ;)
@@zwapz yes. this.
I'm with you! 👍Cheapest... 😊
You're actually telling Crac to stay low budget?
@@douglasb.1203 hahaha. We will always have the "what if". But since this is a budget car he could try to go back to basics 😉
Remove valve cover it could just be a broken valve spring
This ^^^^^
You would hear the spring flopping around, and speaking it smacked the piston it's most likely bent anyway.
Yeah i think it’s something extremely simple under that valve cover as well
The capped braided line on top of the alternator gives you a clue on the previous life with it. Possibly had nitrous on it and had the life beat out of it. Bad nos tune can ruin valves and pistons
Sam these car stories are great, step mom is awesom, lets see more of her!
Sam's solution: Never shows or mentions the car again
sam takes the car from one field and puts it in his to sit for another couple years
@@mattl5238 Well at least Sam has it under a tree for added protection.
Pull the head lap in a new valve and slam it back together for $50 and time, oh and get the head decked, don’t want to put a warped head on, but regardless of that, should have less than $100 and time in it
cheapest option, just do it yourself!
probably valve guide as well
This is how I bought my 3.0 ranger had a bent valve I slapped a new head on it an 10k miles later it’s still reliable
Put the bent valve on an anvil and hammer it eyeball straight and use the head gasket over, no cost.
@@houseoffolly cant reuse these cork headgaskets itll just leak a new ones like 30 bucks or something

Sam, it was great to see how to problem solve the running issue. Can you do more videos like these? I can't even get my weed wacker started after the winter.
It sux not being mechanically inclined. Same.
That's why I got rid of my gas powered weed whacker and got a battery powered one.
hey Sam, take another look at the cylinder wall, it looks honed, like the engine was recently overhauled...dont ditch it just yet
Went back and looked (15:30) and your right - might start by pulling valve cover as it could be a broken spring
@@mikez9853 I tore down a 5.3 vortec with 145000 miles on it that still had the crosshatch in the cylinders.
My 116k mile 4.6 cylinder walls looked perfect when I pulled the heads off. My guess on this car is that a timing chain guide broke and it jumped timing
The valve bent for a reason. Junkyard cylinder head and be on your way.
could have been valve float from overreving the engine. i'd just replace the valves in that cylynder and call it a day. the rest are fine.
I have an '03 GT. I've had it for 9 years. I love the New Edge body style. I had a '95 before this one and definitely like the New Edge style better. But yes, you're right about the cheap plastic interior.....although, mine has held up very well.
I think Chris fix has one of these mustang. We should ask him for advice 😂😂
Honest to god man with the compression reading you were getting, I’d literally locate two valves and lap two new ones on that cylinder
I bought a wrecked 2004 gt with 3000 miles on it. No compression #7. Turned out to be (surprise surprise) a bent valve. I bought just a valve at the dealership. Hired a backyard mechanic and we fixed the engine
Rebuild the engine. It's not about the car, it's about the content.
might as well build it too, turn it into a 4v or something
Not with sam it isn't
What, you want a 5 year project?
@@Sylvan_dB lol
Not sure about that model, but on everything I've had recently: floor the throttle when cranking to activate "flood mode." Basically, it disables fuel and spark. (That won't fix bad rings, but it comes in handy when attempting to start something that might have water in the cylinder.)
Damn that blue with those chrome wheels up under the tree just looks amazing
By this point Sam might have more cars than his stepmom has stepsons.
Who’s the stepmom?
@@F7PRO37 Something is telling me that is Cory Chase... the internet's stepmom.
Bring it back to life. I would try the cylinder heads first tbh
Hey Sam, I really want to see you working on this car, afterall, has the same engine as your mom car, maybe she will wants it
Sam. I'm probably biased in my response since I have a 2004 Mustang GT, but my vote is take the 2 heads and get them repaired and machined. This car is well worth repairing. Great interior and fairly good exterior. Like you said, probably at least $600 worth of tires & wheels. Repair it, then sell it!
I would love to see the old girl brought back. Time for a good budget build series!
You mean his step-mom right?

I still remember when my brother bought a 2000 Mustang GT and drove it home... brand new brings back memories..
Reminds me of my old 2001 GT. Same color, but I had the Bullitt wheels on it. Now you've got me scouring listings for another one...
Sam knows. The Internet seems to like when guys take a broken thing that is basically worthless and turn it into a working thing that's still basically worthless. The YT eyeballs are worth more than whatever profit is to be made at the salvage auction.
how much you think he would make off a 1 episode cylinder head swap? would it eclipse the 100$ material cost? then dump it at the auction. Straight to the auction sounds lazy. He's got a paint booth and the means to fix 90% of the issues on the car. why not do it. unless this is click bait and the plan was to fix it all along.

New edge owners: *And I took that personally*
No eco boost :)
I love mine...
I’ve owned three SN-95’s and I hate to admit that the interiors bothered the shit out of me. Even in my 04 Cobra. But overall, one of my top favs.
@@farewell_to_normalcy9352 I have to agree about the interior. The first time I got in a new edge I was mortified with the quality and design of the Interior, it's exactly the same interior as the generation before it and it doesn't match the exterior design but I've gotten used to it since. I've owned 2 and that's the weakest part of that generation for sure.
One of them, but not the worst. The worst will always be the 4 cylinder “Pusstangs” out there. Looking at you, 1996....LOL
BTW Sam back in 1999 when this car was new it was one of the fastest 0-60 production cars sold. It's advertised 0-60 time was 5.4 sec. I have owned a 1999 GT for 23 years now still love the car.
I'd love to see the mustang fixed! It is a reliable car. Love the 4.6 L!
My 02 GT is still running strong.
I would put in another engine that makes the car go faster. Let's go!
People have been known to do a Coyote swap. That would surprise those that think it still has the stock 4.6L.
Just do the cylinder head replacement, good video content showing us how to get a cheap, fun car back on the road for short money!
Do the head Sam. If the car is otherwise good, sell it on to someone that needs a reliable car.
Worth is in the eye of the beholder. I'm a tinkerer and would love to see this car back up and running. I don't have a lot of extra cash but have a love of mustangs allmakes. I happen o like the edge style. It's not worthless to me. Change the cylinder head and raffle it off it will make for some fun content and a great give away. Fresh coat of paint and I would be happy as clam to cruise around in it.
I get red flags when someone calls mud dauber/hornet nests ant nests. 🤯
Mud dauber's are common in British Columbia, so I kept saying "They aren't ant nests Sam!" My wife kept saying, "He can't hear you!"
Yep, I kept thinking why doesn't he know those are Hornets nests?
Maybe they aren't as common in Florida. 🤷♂️
*Right. I was unaware that Ants even made nests.*
@@Viking8888 I live in Florida. They are very common here.
I would 100% keep it! I'd love to see this car revived! The cylinder walls look really clean. Find a couple heads or do a 4v Cobra swap and tidy the car up a bit. Headlights/taillights etc etc.
Love these kinds of videos, bringing back a nearly dead car.
That is a crazy deal, I am surprised it has not been vandalized or towed after all theses years. Owner said it ran rough, probably bad catalytic convertors.
Don't auction, we wanna see what it takes to get it running. More stepmom plz.
simp, yous downbad
From Summit 8$ for a valve and 60$ head gasket. Easy fix.
Yes! Do it! As low a cost a fix as you can would be a great challenge
a head gasket is $60 on those?
You got to remember, what caused the valve damage in the first place, replacing that valve and putting it all back together with all old components would cause the same issue again if mechanical components such as timing caused it to fail in the first place, Its not that simple.
With a super cool scriptwriter to thicken, add, and complicate plots - the more slowly the better - you might have have a major asset here beyond the economics of cars and presentations!
Bring it back !
I just got the exact same one a couple months ago, blue 4.6 1999 98,0000mi new clutch single owner 1000$. Car wouldn't start one day so she parked it 7 years later brought it back from the grave, turns out just a bad fuel pump. Car runs great just trying to narrow down a lean condition on bank one. Its a great little pony.
That nitrous line under the hood has nothing to do with why it's running bad I bet
Or over-revved.
Lol two words Ker-Boom!
i cant believe that this wasnt one of the first comments in this video. a braided hose not connected to something is the first sign that this was rode hard, and put away wet. perhaps its not a nitrous line, but what else would it be?
Carefully, Chrisfix might have to pay you a visit
Chrisfix, come on down!
Chrisfix would have this car running again in a couple hours.
@@angelgjr1999 Chrisfix would have it running with just a spray bottle of soapy water and his sparkling personality.
These mustangs are very popular, one of the most popular body styles. And that 2 valve can put out 450hp with not alot of money. And fun as hell to drive.
I find it funny that you mention the issues of running a sitting car with possible bad gas, but before you tried to start that same car.
Consistency is missing here, Sam.
Continue the videos.

Abandoned Blue mustang on the side of the road, sounds about Florida to me!
I would like to see this back on the road. Im sure there is a lot people have the same issue. It would be a good video to show that work.
Would be great to see you have a little fun with the Mustang, maybe drop a SVT engine in it , make it a real sleeper of course big brake conversion etc but could be a fun track car and maybe a daily runner with abit of grunt . Show us how to upgrade on a budget . Looking forward to your next video
omg the step mom thing had me rollin
My $0.02; I don't subscribe to watch you flip cars, so fix it! ;-)
I would love to see this fixed on a budget, get it running and driving great.
Keep it. I know it's not what you do on this channel but maybe do a diy budget drag or drift car with it? Idk. But definitely keep it.
with the combo of that metal piece that is bridging the gap of the coolant pipe in the front of the engine, and that steel braided line that looks like its coming from the oil pan and going to the alternator. More than likely a turbo kit was on this car and bent the valve when it hit boost. That also could be why the previous owner said it was running rough, that's cause it never got re tuned after the turbo kit was taken off, its on a boosted tune and not an NA tune
Nitrous line, extra long bolts on the fuel pressure sensor where fuel would be tapped from for nitrous.
Probably had a nitrous backfire and bent that valve
Good catch on the fuel pressure sensor bolts. I only noticed the line.
I was looking at the same thing. Scrolled to see if anyone else noticed.
Yup I think there’s a very good chance your right
Save the car Sam please. I’d fix the engine by replacing the head and replacing the head gasket, then sell it or keep it for a driver.
Put in new cylinder head. Just did this on '90 Bronco II V6. New head with valves $250, plus head gasket and head bolts.
It was supercharged at one time! Has the modified upper radiator hose for it! Also the oil feed line!
Uncle rich pulling up with that extra long 10mm socket like.
Remember it’s a thin wall tho!! Lmao!!
Rebuild it with your stepdad “rich”
Pop the rocker cover off and see if you can unstick the valve. It might be bent, but it might not be and something caused it to stay down to begin with. Or cylinder head off and replace just that valve!
Hey Sam! Just pull that head off and put a valve in it. You could have a machine shop run through the head, but if you want on the cheap, pull bent valve, analyze seat and lap a new valve in.
Am I the only one that thinks the whole stepmom thing has been overdone. At least with Rich's chick she's actually a little funny.
I love it.

Would love to have another Mustang GT like this. Love my 99. Sold it when my son got caught doing 90 in a 55.
Lmao boys will be boys!
Which of course couldn't have happened in any other car.
it is worth it considering there is no major damage to the cylinder of piston
you can go for 4v if you find one in good condition where valves did not decide to kiss but if 2v is cost effective:
-slam in new valves
-lash them plus add new internals
-while you are there port intake and exahust ports
-clear all casting flash because why not
-make it a ALL-motor cuz why not junkyard has a spare for cheap unless you find way better engine at junkyard for cheap and it would be a fun car or keep it stock
Do the repair. New cylinder head or even just new valve and valve grind. Easy to do at home, great content.. just done two valves on an old suzi jimny.
Let's see that thing run. I have one in my garage waiting for it's day.
Thank you step mom!! My goodness! Forget the mustang.
Please rebuild this thing brotha, these new edge body styles are always sick to see and easy to work on. If you do a couple mods they are extremely fun to drive!
I'd like to see the damaged head either fixed or replaced. Maybe reinstall the nitrous kit that appears to be partially uninstalled.
Yep but don’t run that 150 shot like the last guy tried!!
Just do a casual 25-50 shot!

Not all 2v are built the same. When sourcing a replacement motor or cylinder head be sure that you are buying a PI (performance improved) variant. Early 4.6 motors with NPI heads make 215 (or 225 in 98 for the mustang). PI cars are rated at 260hp and offer a much better starting point for any build.
Remember it has the P.I. heads which new made the engine good for 265 ponies. I had one of these with 65K miles on it and it wasn't a barn burner, but it was quick and agile enough to be fun.

All that just to junk the car, could have kept it moving.
Fuel, spark, air, COMPRESSION and Timing.
Sam, it's probably a hung valve issue from engine sludge/poor maintenance. If it's not too late, at least do your normal cheap fix video. Run an engine flush through it, pull the valve cover and try to free up the valve manually with some seafoam or something. I used to recover old Briggs & Stratton engines with hung valves all the time by pulling the valve cover and directly applying some seafoam to the valve stem and working it until it freed up. It wasn't always 100%, but 90% of the time it'd get them running again, especially with a good engine oil flush afterwards.
Problems with the spark plug threads are a known issue with the modular Ford engines and the is an aftermarket Helicoil that you can buy to repair the issue. I don't know it will work but you can try releasing one motor mount and tilt that bank up to work on it.
HeliCoil 5396-14 Sav-A-Thread HT - Ford 5.4 and 4.6 Liter Spark Plug Thread Repair. If the threads are damaged it is because a mechanic got sloppy, and Ford cast that part of the head too thin so there were not that many threads in the first place. There is also plan B and buy a new head for it. The 4.6L is dirt common.

That car definitely had a procharger or vortec at some point. The capped off oil feed line and the upper radiator hose are a dead giveaway.
