I can't believe what I found inside the Engine of the Mustang GT. I won't be fixing the engine because of this, instead I'll either get a replacement or sell it. Also I show you my issues with the BMW 335, my progress on the Ferrari 360 and BMW i8 projects, and also a new addition to the fleet!
I like too see every repair. Especially normal repairs on normal cars...
And not trying to make fun of you but nobody gives a s*** about BMWs and Audis nobody can use them they are worthless.
Yes it is good to show common folk how to keep a BMW and Audi without getting robbed and fix it yourself but that's kind of where it ends.

I agree I am not a ford fan but all them super cars are for the rich for the everyday working people live off of pay check to pay check which like me 850 a week is what I make which I can keep around 475 or more a month out of a month cause all the bills
Bought my 03 Mustang GT. She was in rough shape, needed new tires, brakes, and shocks. I fixed her up, and she drives like a beast now. She’s my daily and I love my pony. These Mustangs are fairly easy to fix. They share many parts with F150s and crown vics so parts are everywhere.
@@riversharp180 Buy cars cash. It’s not worth the headache dealing with car stealerships. Trust me, you don’t have to impress anyone. As long as my car gets me to work and home I’m happy. I’m not spending a years salary on a car. Most I’d spend would be 10k in full.

With the 335, use one of those really tiny air bag things that inflate when you pump it, and push the latch over with a flat head screw driver. Ask me how I know 🙄
Damn that engine was CLEAN inside compared to most with those miles. Previous owners actually maintained it.
If you don't like the Mustang, just move it on. Sell to a young enthusiast for what you paid. They'll do the work and love it.

I have a 2006 X3 with a similar issue on the hood. It takes two people to pop the hood. One to pull the latch and one to push your body weight near the hood emblem. Works every time for me.

@@joesbigblue8440 if you end up getting it go to the junkyard. You'll want to find a non PI long block and a set of PI heads and intake. Add some long tube headers, crane cams 274 cams and a tune. It'll make 400hp for cheap.

I have a suspicion that the problem with the Mustang is a broken valve spring. This causes the valve to drop and tension to be removed from the rocker, which lets it fall out. You may be able to replace a valve spring without pulling the head.
I say budget drag strip build and send her with a 250 shot of nitrous. And instead of replacing an engine maybe you could rip a head off another mustang from the junk yard.
I haven't came this early since I saw Sam's stepmom.

@@rolan116 I don't know but guessing maybe viewer content, building suspense? Doesn't make sense from a practical view, I have built many engines and worked in a rebuilding shop but know nothing about making youtube content.
Valve is stuck because it's bent, I've rebuilt and built so many of these 4.6/5.4s. timing guides are likely gone and the valve touched the piston, bent the stem, then knocked the rocker out. 75% of the ones i see the guides are gone because people hop in start it and take off.

Try pressing down on the hood and lifting it up while pulling on the cable through the fender liner compartment. Had the same issue...
I had a cable break on me. It had a plastic union and got brittle and broke after 15 years. It also didn’t help that it got hit in the front and the hood didn’t want to open right anyway, so the extra strain on the latching mechanism speed up it’s failure.
I'm drooling over that E39...and step mom. Sorry, not sorry.

Use lapping compound to lap the valve to the seat. Test the valves by turning the head with the valve face up and spark plugs in and fill the head chamber with gasoline, if after half hour the gasoline is still there the valves are sealing.

I get what you mean about the cost of fixing the Mustang. However think of it this way. A lot of people don't wanna buy a project car. They want one that's already been tinkered on and redone. If you fix the suspension, change the engine, replace the brakes, and then deal with the paint, someone will buy this car just for the fact they won't have to do all that work themselves. Sometimes a car is worth it. And you don't have to go with an original engine. Find and put a better one in it instead. And you don't even have to repaint the car. Just get the paint blended, touched up and polished. Which is way cheaper. What's more I know a refurbished Mustang fixed by you would sell. People want your cars.

My 2005 Jeep grand Cherokee 4.7 popped one off as well. But it was the lifter adjuster...they wear out. 50 dollars later...and all is well.

You can pop those BMW grills by pulling them hard, they are on clips, not bolted. Maybe that will give more access to those hood latches.

What was the outcome of this car? I bought a running 5-speed manual 2004 GT with 138k 4 years ago in Fl. for $2500. Drove it for a bit. Bought a 2003 4.6 2v PI pulled from a Grand Marquis with 63k on it for $900. Put a $300 used set Comp Cams 262AH cams in it with TFS valve spring and retainer set, new gaskets, used K&N cold air kit from LKQ salvage for $130, used Mac Long Tube headers $150, Off-road x-pipe $190, Stainless Original Flowmaster 40's welded in factory tail pipes, Brenspeed custom tune on SCT-X4, FRPP 4.10 gears I'd had for years in the box new, subframe connectors, and handful of suspension parts to freshen handling and straight line traction. It dynoed 291rwhp and runs 7.90's in the 1/8 mile on slicks for under $5k total. Your barn find was a fairly straight and clean one. I hope you did something useful with it or sold it to an enthusiast that will/did. These cars are fun and very easy to work on. They will be the next foxbody.

Someone help me here... why would the valve seat be damaged?
Unless the piston pushed the valve at an angle into the seat or broke the valve off completely, how could it happen?
The spring return pressure alone doesn't seem like it would be enough, even with the valve slightly bent - especially over the very short amount of time the engine has run.

Forget a proper valve seat, some compression is better than no compression. Looks like it's just gonna be a track/drift car to be thrashed hard anyway. I know your channel is all "complete restoration" type videos but honestly a shitty beater that's a bit fast is still a good video.

Sam .....On the truck........Just remove the bed ..way easier it's like 6 bolts ....fuel nozzle ....and rear light harness.....takes like a hour ..and a hoist ...........or you can just jack the bed out of your way....good luck ......hope this helps ......have a F150 ......that eats Fuel pumps ...........so I have have done it alot ...Good luck ...and keep up the videos......Oh on the BMW hood ..can you get to latches through the front grills ?
Similar thing happened to my Kwak GPX750. Sadly the resulting mayhem led to parts of the top end of the engine ending up in the bottom end of the engine! :(
This is the only guy in the word that will spend $100,000 on a smashed up Ferrari then put another $75,000 into it and be happy. But then buy a $500 car that needs $400 worth o work and wine about it! FINISH AT LEAST 1 PROJECT!!!!
you can still find a cheap car still today! Cheapest car I bought was $150 93 Buick century wagon. Wasn’t as good as the 97 Toyota Camry for $200. Amazing car. Or the $200 Honda Civic. Yes they needed work nothing major but all three of those cars ran and drove home over 1 1/2 hrs away.

Sorry to break the bad news to you but that e39 530i on has the Sport pkg. It's still a pretty rare configuration, being the facelift e39 530 was only made in 2002 and 2003 and finding a manual equipped Sport pkg car is hard. True M-Sport e39s were only produced in 2003 and were 540i with 6-speed transmission.
thanks to modern science, gutting cats might get you 20hp. They are not as bad as the junk bead cats back in the 70s...
now, if you have a real high performance car, say a Corvette Z06, ZR1, BMW M3 or M4, Porsche Turbo, you might get more power, but I don't think it will be massive.

Don't you know that the default valves position is CLOSED because they have a SPRING and what the rocker arm does is to push it to open against the spring valve spring force?

BMW's & Land River's are the boats of the car world. Constantly breaking. Ford's are only marginally better, I've got the repair bills for two to prove it. Company REFUSED to even consider ANY Ford they spent so much money repairing the last one.
I'm absolutelly no expert, but would it be possible to remove the grill or the front bumper without removing the hood? may be that way you could expose what is reataining the hood.
Who thought a missing rocker arm would cause the valve to stay open? Rocker arms OPEN valves, not close them. Don't replace just the top end without replacing crank bearings. They always fail 20-30k later because they get hammered from the piston hitting the valve.
You sound like somebody thatd never known that cara give you a problem for instantance when you said that the new edge mustang all have tgese kind of problems so true all these new edge mustangs all have problems an that means the 03 an04 terminator cobra mustangs as well as the 01 cobras too rwmember these cars are old an unlike other cars the cobras an some gt s got a lot more abuse theb your average cars oj here ot is these new edge cobra mustangs can eat your bank account up like real real fast my point i got an 01 cobra ice had 14 years an i dont drive it much its a moneral gray convertable 01 cobra an yes i keep ut on show room shape an yes it eats up my money to keep it up theres always something going vad on this car it never stops sience septenber1 st 2023 to today february 12th 2024 ive only drove it 150 miles yal hardly dricen an not because i choose to but because every time i take it to ferman ford in clearwater fla an they always have it for an average of 6 weeks or more to fix what i bring it in for an when i get it back after 6or 7 weeks an drive it about 10to 20 mikes it breaks down an now its in tgere for coil packs an now they found the oil cooler is dripping in the last 3 years its a joke yhese new edges are junk their just to old i should get it back to gis week they shjuld get the new oil cooler in tuesday or wed theyve already got 2 coil packs an all new plugs teplaced an now the bill will be 2.300 this week for a complete tune up all pkugs an two coil packs an a new ford oil cooler no after market stuff on my coba the oil cooler alone is 600 plus oil change an 2 gal antifreeze they gota chnnge oil an antifreeze when they xhange oil cooler so you see what i mean these new edge mustangs are nothing but money pits jubkem all ford an you people .

I bought a grand marquis for $500, 2008 272000 miles. It ran beautifully, did burnout like crazy even tho it was open diff. Sold it a week ago for $1700. Same engine 4.6
What if you did "MORE SAM CRAC" as another channel for the "less mainstream stuff" you speak of? Then you could see if it really IS less desirable to watch OR if we'd all watch it anyway. Pretty sure I would.
I don't blame you for not wanting to work on this one given the rest of your fleet. I picked up a $500 manual convertible V6 2000 Mustang. Bad fuel pump, and now it's throwing another code. Lots of other little things wrong with it, but over time it won't be bad, and I don't make that UA-cam money. I also don't need it to be cool or anything. Ideally, I'll make a cone course car out of it.
The likely culprit of that popped off rocker is a failed hydraulic lash adjuster (aka lifter) underneath it. If they collapse, the rocker will pop right out. Fun fact, the Chrysler/Jeep 3.7 and 4.7 use the same lifters as the late modular Fords. Don't believe me just look it up. I replaced several on a 3.7 v6 years back that did the same thing.
