  • Is the Springfield XD series the most hated pistols on the internet? Possibly! Here is the review of the Springfield XDm compact, chambered in 9mm, that no one asked for! My first 9mm pistol and the first pistol I carried concealed for a few years it has been a solid pistol for me but the XD series has a history of failures that we touch on. If you actually read this description comment what your first pistol was?

ive been carrying an XD since they first came out in the early 2000s. XD 9mm and then in 45, and was very happy. When the XDM came out i bought a full size in 9mm and was amazed at the improvement (still own it and carried it until last ear, its been in an evidence locker since). I am now carrying the XDM elite 4.5in 9mm and am happy, some thing i like over the OG XDM (sights, magwell) somethings not so much like the trigger, maybe it just needs more rounds to smooth it out or maybe ill replace it with a PRP Somewhere along the time i picked up a XDS in 45 as a back up gun (still carry it at times). Thousands of rounds of training and plinking, more than a couple in defense of life in all sorts of weather conditions without a single failure
Im kinda stuck on em after shooting a variety of handguns before with Walther being my favorite, nothing against Glock but the grip angle just isnt comfortable for me.

Quite the carrying history, you are a connoisseur of the XDm! I still like my XDm's(I have multiple lol) and occasionally I'll carry the XDs. The weight difference of a Glock 19 vs the XDm was noticeable and ultimately led to my change of carry pistol.

@@Northwoods.Nobodies I agree with you about the weight. Weight is the only reason I am actually considering switching from XDM to glock 17 / 19. Absolutely everything else is much better on the XDM, better trigger, better grip, much more accurate, easier to shoot, much prefer to have a grip safety, etc... Its just the weight. I pack all day in the mountains while hunting and every ounce counts. Not sure if weight alone is enough to change my mind, we'll see...

I have had 4.5 XDM for 8 years with over 4000 rounds with no mechanical malfunction, ony weak mag spring from keeping it loaded 24/7/365.

I have 5 XDMs in various lengths and calibers (9, 10, 40) and have had ZERO malfunctions of any kind.
Let people hate on 'em, it keeps the prices down. Look something like the VP9 that everyone went nuts over, street price is up to over $700 on those (I think I paid around $500 when it came out)... Meanwhile, I recently saw the XDM 4.5 9mm OSP with threaded barrel, suppressor sights and *5* 22rd mags + 1 35rd mag in a gear-up package for $530 at an online retailer. XDMs are the best kept secret.

I truly do not understand the degree of hate the XDs get. There are a few select instructors/UA-camrs who just absolutely have it out for the platform and I think that’s really poisoned the water. They represent an incredible value, and the Elite line in particular bests the Glock in stock trigger, stock sights, and in magazine flexibility (the compact models can have extended magazines with seamless grips OEM). The Xdm elite compact 3.8 10mm in particular really trounces the Glock 29 especially since there is no MOS model available yet. It’s too bad they are so under appreciated.

Not sure where the title "most hated" comes from. Most people, reviews, etc... I have seen actually prefer them over glocks. I have the 4.5" xdm and it has been flawless for me. It feels great in the hand, shoots very well and is very accurate. The trigger is really good. I actually prefer the grip safety which allows me to unholster and holster without engaging the grip safety which guarantees no negligent discharge due to a drawstring or piece of shirt catching on the trigger. Also when it is in the holster in the appendix position, and you bend over, you don't have to worry about a accidental discharge if the holster fails. There is a well known video where a guy shot himself in the groin accidently with a glock 43 when the holster failed and actuated the trigger. The only downside is the weight. That is the only reason I would consider the glock. Weight is an advantage when packing it in the mountains. Its a mixed blessing. The weight helps it out shoot the glock, but it is a disadvantage when packing it.

There are a bunch of fools out there who insist that the only safety they need is the one between their ears. But the grip safety in the opinion should be an industry standard. It is 100% effective, don't require any extra action to engage or disengage, and there is absolutely no issues with it. Except maybe if you don't maintain your pistol properly.
All the negligent discharges I have heard of have been with glocks or similar guns.
I have a XD mod2 subcompact. Amazing gun, high capacity, almost zero recoil in such a compact pistol. I was very disappointed when Springfield discontinued it.

    • @Northwoods.Nobodies
      @Northwoods.Nobodies  2 місяці тому

Personally I don't agree about the grip safety being a standard. While at the range, under little or no stress, it's easy to have the proper grip and engage the grip safety properly. I've seen/read about defensive shootings or police shootings where people get hit in the hand and can no longer grip the pistol properly. I enjoy my XDms and have always had good shooting experiences with them but my Glock 19 has never had an issue either. Firearms are something to respect and be careful with. An ND happens from complacency or idiocy.

Fan of my xdm elite 4.5 tactical 9mm and xds mod 2 9mm. Replaced both triggers with powder river precision lightest on each with a 507c and k respectively. Also have talon grips pro on 4.5 and rubber on 3.3 figured out I prefer rubber. 3.3 has wierd click right before it fires that could be from me doing something wrong. Plan on either replacing actual trigger not in prp kit or grind down a mag release so I stop poking it with my giant hands. I seem to like the talon grips a lot so I'll probably be buying little tabs for all my mags in rubber and a few more points for thumb rests and index point. I have a griffin armament micro carry comp coming soon for my xdm elite that I'm pretty excited about. The xds is kinda snappy but has run great and I find the modularity of the mags for the guns size to be very pleasant. The 4.5 has been great overall, shoots very flat for me, pretty easy to work on, lots of stuff you can do with it and comes with so much for the price.

I have enjoyed Springfield firearms in their different calibers for many years. I have had no problems with any of these firearms what so ever, this after putting 100s of rounds through them. I for one would and have referred Springfield products to others who were looking for reliable and accuracy in their firearms. Like all things, you need to take care of your firearms guys. You return home from a day at the range, take the time to clean and oil your firearms. You take care of them, they will take care of you and your families when called upon to do so. Can things go wrong! Absolutely. But there are less of a chance this happening if we take the time to make sure our sidearms are ready when called upon. By keeping them cleaned and oiled. God Bless and stay safe guys. Oh and take a kid or two with you to the range from time to time guys, remember they are our future 2A ( PROTECTORS ) THEY NEED TO UNDERSTAND THE IMPORTANCE OF GUN OWNERSHIP, AND LEARN HOW TO SAFELY HANDLE FIREARMS. Once again God Bless this great Nation we call ( America ) and its people. And God Bless you and your family President ( Trump ) sir we stand with you.

First off, I’m confused how you left the video saying you’d go for another handgun like Glock or S&W? Like regret?
    I own a Service XD Compact 45Auto.
Looking for something that I can carry that has a little more punch than 9mm since I’m in a restricted state. My Kimber 1911 runs great but I’d like to keep that at home with the WC extended mag to get 10rds. I don’t see that as a CCW appendix going to well 😅
Found the XD45 compact has the same size of the G19.
The XD trigger shocked me, shot my pals 9mm and 40sw. The tigger was smooth and after some hate comments and decided to pick one up. Not everything you hear is true and society does love to go with the crowd especially when it comes to YT.
Shot it and was pleased. No 1911 but nowhere near my Glock. I’d say the amount of surface area where the slide rides helps and the polished feed ramp from the factory shows better quality. Fell in love with the grip angle too. Wish I had the XDM, it was just announced not too long ago here but nothing of 45Auto.
Been looking into 10MM for hiking as bear do appear, not a bad idea.
Hard choice for me being both fond of Glock and the XD now but SW MP 2.0 has been on my radar, just need to see how it rides to determine what to choose. Trying to determine at this point of shooting if recoil or trigger pull is more important(I think recoil is)
    Good video and stay safe!

I own and enjoy shooting the three XDms I own but i ultimately made the switch to my Glock 19 due to it weighing less than the XDm. The 19 is still my preferred CCW to this day. The XDm trigger will always beat out a stock Glock trigger in my opinion but I haven't shot an XD in awhile. I can't recall how different the XD trigger is from an XDm.
Mark has a Glock 20 and its been good overall. We shot it quite a bit before he went to Alaska last year. The S&W M&P 2.0 10mm was a pretty good feeling pistol, we tried it at the range before he bought the Glock.
I'm hoping Minnesota doesn't become a restricted state in the future, mag limits are pretty ridiculous.

The "tactical" T-shirt is in reference to the service members killed during the Afghanistan withdrawal. That's why it says "13 of them".

those mentioned failures needs to categorized by class. XD's are in a class of their own within the XDMS line, which is some marketing bullshite. I hate Springfield from a marketing standpoint, their lack of aftermarket offerings really sucks. Everyone in this class offers threaded barrel affordable options accept ole Springfield.
