Yeah I was shocked by the xdm in this video, I’ve shot it a good bit and hadn’t had the slide locking issue before I turned on the camera. Unfortunately I haven’t had time to mess with it to see if I can replicate and diagnose it.
My edc is a G29sf,,, don't feel the need to try anything else... My old hands required some larger release levers and I put a tricked out oem trigger from Johnny Glocks on it.... I don't experiment with rounds much either. I shoot range for practice and Hornady extreme for carry. The other pistol looks cool but I am not even sure it is for sale in the Communist Republic of California.
I would go Glock. But not giddie about finicky barrels. Springfield makes great guns and always have. However, some of us still have a bad taste in our mouth over them trying to through us under the bus some years ago and never taking ownership of such a wrong. Others don't care and that is certainly fine. But some do care. And that is fine also. The beauty of liberty.
Yeah I held a grudge for a while but they apologized and moved on. People forget bill ruger supported certain gun control and smith & Wesson, colt, all did things not in our favor as well.
I have both of these guns XDM Elite and G29SF Gen 4. Love them both but generally carry the G29 and use the XDM as a home defense option. I have an issue with the open backplate on the XDM, so prefer not to carry it. As I said I love them BOTH and shoot them pretty similarly. Underwood 165g 10mm as a carry load. Great video, thanks.
@@ThisIsWhatIDo77 Big hole/opening on the backplate that allows debris in. Have you got one or seen one? I carried one and that was what relegated it to range and home defense. G29 took it’s place
Reliability trumps all, so Glock is superior. That said, I replaced my stock Glock 20 10mm unsupported barrel with a threaded KKM better supported barrel to shoot all ammo & has been 100% reliable. Also installed a -3.0 connector & did the 25 cent trigger polishing job. Added Talon grips for Glocks slippery grip, & walla, now have an expensive but reliable back woods carry pistol.
The slide locked open because he hit the slide stop up, wasn't a failure of the pistol. That's the only possible cause of that. It happens a lot to people that don't shoot XDs all the time. He probably shoots Glocks all the time. I had the exact opposite problem when I first got mine. I kept hitting the slide release and it wouldn't lock open after last round. Once I started putting my thumb firmly on support hand, it stopped. Not knocking this man in any way. I support all 2A UA-camrs, this channel is very good.
The 10 is just too much for guns this small. Ultimately, a 9 is a better carry option; more rounds and much less recoil cuz it's the 2nd and 3rd shots that really make the difference.
Eh if you train with it you can use it effectively. I have a short coming out where a viewer asked me to see how fast I could hit 4 different targets with 4 shots from the g29. With full power loads it was less than 2 seconds from the beep.

With reliability being the most important factor, I'll stick with the Glock 29.
Thanks for the comparison.
The XDM is the superior gun. Glock isn’t making anything as good as Springfield
good comparison. Both had an issue.
Yeah I was shocked by the xdm in this video, I’ve shot it a good bit and hadn’t had the slide locking issue before I turned on the camera. Unfortunately I haven’t had time to mess with it to see if I can replicate and diagnose it.
@@Blankee-o1t yeah, needed shot more with the hotter loads. It went away after some rounds.
Try 90 gr or close to it
I have both of these guns XDM Elite and G29SF Gen 4.
Valid argument. Haven’t really thought about that
What do you mean by open back plate ?
@@ThisIsWhatIDo77 Big hole/opening on the backplate that allows debris in. Have you got one or seen one? I carried one and that was what relegated it to range and home defense. G29 took it’s place
@@ThisIsWhatIDo77 there’s a significant size opening in the backplate of xdm’s
Reliability trumps all, so Glock is superior. That said, I replaced my stock Glock 20 10mm unsupported barrel with a threaded KKM better supported barrel to shoot all ammo & has been 100% reliable. Also installed a -3.0 connector & did the 25 cent trigger polishing job. Added Talon grips for Glocks slippery grip, & walla, now have an expensive but reliable back woods carry pistol.
Glock is tough to beat for sure
The slide locked open because he hit the slide stop up, wasn't a failure of the pistol. That's the only possible cause of that. It happens a lot to people that don't shoot XDs all the time. He probably shoots Glocks all the time. I had the exact opposite problem when I first got mine. I kept hitting the slide release and it wouldn't lock open after last round. Once I started putting my thumb firmly on support hand, it stopped. Not knocking this man in any way. I support all 2A UA-camrs, this channel is very good.
I like that hat
The 10 is just too much for guns this small. Ultimately, a 9 is a better carry option; more rounds and much less recoil cuz it's the 2nd and 3rd shots that really make the difference.
Eh if you train with it you can use it effectively. I have a short coming out where a viewer asked me to see how fast I could hit 4 different targets with 4 shots from the g29. With full power loads it was less than 2 seconds from the beep.
@@thegundungeon it just seems like more "mine's bigger than yours" macho shit than it's that much more effective in the real world unless you're around bears more than people. Idt the guy in the video shooting a 10mm glock with a switch was using a 29.
@@vannevels6758 well I have a few videos coming out that may change your mind, specifically heavy winter clothing video. Stay tuned lol
@@thegundungeon I will
You just not a realcman and can't handle 10mm
G29 is a great 10mm
Springfield armory 🇺🇸
Hands down for the Glock 29 with Alpha Wolf barrel and McNally trigger assembly. The thin blackstrap safety on the XDM is a negative deal breaker for me.
So, buy a Glock... then have to buy a barrel... then need to buy a trigger group... So you can't just buy a Glock???
@@kenkempa9907 I go for an optimum field gun for me, whether I have to spend more money or not to get there. Glock 29 with that McNally trigger assembly and Alpha Wolf barrel is far better field gun than an XDM.
I fired my XDM elite 3.8 10mm for the first time, about 500 rounds,no problem,I emptied it all , including my wallet.Oh boy !! But it’s really good.😊 I did not hit in one group about 20 yards but all the bullets is inside the 8 inch circumference which is not bad for a rookie or just a luck probably.. I think I have to spend more ammo, but the price is not a joke anymore.oh boy again.Anyway it’s a good presentation we’ll done my friend,Peace be with you everyone.
If you’re going to run much 10mm, you really need to look into hand loading.
I think I would prefer the 10mm Tanfoglio polymer frame compact over either of these.
I’ll have to take a look at that one
I have the Tanfoglio poly compact and the XD-M 3.8 in 10mm. Both triggers are MUCH better than the Glock, with the Springfield having the better DA (not really DA, of course) pull and the Tanny having a fantastic SA. I'm still carrying the XD-M, but if the Tanfoglio had a decocker, it would likely be my EDC.
Looks like you need to tighten up your wrist a bit.
I've never had a ram in my XDM ever
Surprising. If I had the option behind enemy lines I would not have bought my Glock 29SF. If the roster goes eventually, or I make my escape, I want an XDM...originally figured I'd sell the 2x4 with a crappy grip angle but now time will tell on that. Shocked on the XDM failures. I have owned a 5" XD40 for 15 years and shoot it really well. THANK YOU for the comparison!!!!
Fire issues I’ve had with the xdm. Thanks for watching!
I've had my XD-M 3.8 10mm to the range every 3 or 4 weeks since I've owned it... 11 months..., put 75 -100 rounds through it every time, and still haven't had a single failure. I run at least a box of Underwood 180 gr. or 200 gr. JHPs every time, along with a 50-round box or more of 180 gr. FMJs, Remington, Winchester, Blazer or S&B.
@@StevenRogers-hw9dj Thanks! The rumor is CA may put it on the roster next year.
What is the point of a 10 mm handgun with a 3.8" long barrel... Too weak against a bear, over-penetrate human.
@@someguy9607 well bullet selection means a lot. A 180gr gold dot is great for 2 legged predators
New Springfield like to be run wet. Glocks shoot out of the box

You really are fool of it the x.d.m.. is a much better gun in evry way and hits harder than glock .
How does the xdm hit harder than the Glock? They are chambered in the same round.
You wanna listen the recoil more call up Glock Store get a tungsten guide rod. Do you want to lessen it up more put a TR seven light on it that’ll take away some recoil did for my 30 Glock.
Are you seriously not going to put them side by side? Carry dimensions are the only reason to get a 10mm this small. No one cares how you shoot it. Won't ever get THIS time back.
