Ended up falling for the "let's be friends game"... for 4 yrs. He wanted all the emotional aspects of a relationship and I ended up in what I call the "emotional hostage " trap. After that long you are vested in the relationship of whatever kind it is and you don't want to walk away. And finally I did. It no longer served me to stay there. Told him I can't have him in my life anymore and I would appreciate it if he wouldn't contact me anymore. After 5yrs of talking daily.. multiple times a day. So that was hard bit it had to be done. Getting really honest about the people who are not there to enrich our lives is the point of growing.

In a similar situation except he is not asking to be friends but not committing either. I am afraid he will not even if i wait for years. He has his own dreams and list of things he wants to do, and i am not in that list.

Actions do speak louder than words always. Look for consistency and reliability. Does the dude keep his promises or is he blowing you off every now and then? Like Helena says, don't get invested unless and until he shows you he wants to be exclusive and that he's really INTO you. If he is, you will know. You won't need a map to tell you!

I had a man tell me he had no interest in dating or having a relationship period. I had a crush on him 30 years ago and well developed it again. This statement surprised me since he contacted me. He said he cherished our friendship but he doesn't want anything more. I was surprised by his statement yet I was not going to try and change his mind. I had to ask myself do I want to lose contact with him. Well if he wants the friendship he'll have to work for that too! No more of this waiting around. At least I didn't for the 30 years either. For me, I was sad and I was also glad that he was honest with me. Some women never get that.

That's your opinion. Assuming and being pretentious get you nowhere.
Well, it depends on how deep you feel. If you are causal as he does, you two can be platonic/friendship-wise. If you feel deep or want more than a friendship and he can’t give to you, then you should move on. If this involves cutting the connection in order to move on, you need to do it.
Feel sad for him that 30 years have gone by and he still seems confused about it all.
This happened w my husband who didn't want the responsibility of children and a wife... he wanteda motorcycle and move to FL without us! My pastor counseled me to "love him back" and all itdid in the end was tear me up even more!! Good advice!

really good point that women are so organized and ahead of him :) i also got advice if he is avoidant, dont give him big headlines coz it will scare or trigger him (or he'll simply feel pressured). when he comes back around, just give a very specific suggestion of what you'd like to see to feel more connecting for example. (bite-size) so he can either step up or not.
A man who is dismissive avoidant is essentially emotionally unavailable. There’s very little point into continuing to pursue a man who is avoidant unless he’s doing the healing work.
This is a good one !! I find taking it slow taking your time and figuring out how you feel instead of figuring him out does really help .

I finally caught myself and understand that I was always in my head wondering what he thought about me, trying to prove myself by doing the most "kind" things .it doesnt matter I just need to relax and let him figure it out and do what I'm doing and let myself feel it out instead of doing all this proving work. Once i started to really put value on myself I noticed I was trying to seek approval and validation. It is actually stressful to try to "please" someone by trying to prove yourself. I am who I am .I love me so take me or leave me as I am 🧚🏾♀️💕

I’ve been dating a guy for about 6 weeks. We both fell in love (his lead) he made big effort, meals, champagne etc planning ahead but a couple of times he has explained he’s struggling with having young kids and being in a relationship. Today he broke up with me saying he’s just not ready for a relationship and needs to focus on his kids. It hurts x

Always believe the action rather than words, unless there is the words that very difficult to say.. so I believe he doesn't want.. I went through the same 😘 we will be ok!
It bugs me that some men date when they aren't ready to commit. My feeling is they enjoy our company but not enough to marry. It's like playing with a puppy but not taking it home. These men need to be honest from the get go. Women need to NOT sleep ( bond) with him if there's no investment/commitment.

You’re welcome! That’s a great question and a tough one to answer generally since every situation is different. I’d recommend having an open conversation when exclusivity comes up, tuning in to your intuition and of course, watching his consistent actions over time to get a feel for whether or not you’re on the same page. I went to my sister's wedding recently and there were like four grooms men there and one of them actually asked for my contact... I knew from the start what type of man he was that he didn't want a relationship, so if I could do anything different I'd not give him my contact because by contacting him everyday on my cell phone causes me to invest emotionally and mentally. I was getting all hopeful and stuff, then it went down a giant black hole where I didn't abide to my boundaries and eventually had to end the communication because it was only hurting me. But I am grateful for the learning experience and to know that men are attracted to me etc etc. Now onward!!

I would appreciate more videos like this, I really think that this would help me. Within my relationship with my boyfriend mark, he is trying to re-connect with me again. But this time am sticking with my boundaries, and if he can't handle it then am not going to stay with.
I know that, when you love someone, you can't let that person get away. There was another guy, that I had loved before. And I had to let him go, and I don't what to make the same mistake again. This other guy, that I had before his name was chris greene, and I never really got over him, but deep down I realize that I still love him. And I never really broke it off with him, and I still think that am might still, have those feelings for him. I realize that you can still love someone even though you are not with me.
He's going through a nasty custody battle with his ex-wife and having a lot of drama and told me he wasn't ready he kept apologizing to me telling me his life just wasn't right right now I did what you guys said I said I want nothing more for you to be happy and I think you should go be by yourself right now I also said I hope that I'll be available when you're ready and I emphasize the word hope this one really hurt and I really don't want to talk to him anyways right now no contact is perfect for me right now hearing what you said was hard to hear...I watched his dogs while he had to go out of town for a funeral...cleaned his house.....I'm so angry and hurt...he kept apologizing but right now I feel so used..

I didn't get ahead of my man. He pursued me. He wanted the relationship. He said he loved me. He left because he had mental health issues. Depression and OCD. Had it before we met. I'm thinking why date then? Get better ...then date.

This older man in Facebook after saw my photo began to pursue me & he would send a novel, a white rose turned into an East princess and God marries him & me, which the flower had turned into me; an east princess, a prophetic novel he wrote! On Valentine’s Day I confronted him for not calling my name, not calling me my princess, my beloved, precious princess, honey, sweetheart, my love no more, what is wrong with him for rejecting and avoiding me, I posted back to him all the intimate, sweet words he spoke to me, he got upset and said he would not want this kind of woman with him and blocked me! It just broke my heart and spirit, have been crying since then!

Figuring this out as an old guy friend I reconnected with months ago reached out randomly and started a conversation with me, and then left me hanging. I got nervous and sent another text when he didn’t respond, and then he responded and said sorry for not answering before, and then he proceeded to babble about things but he offered no explanation. I’m pretty sure he’s dating someone. It’s fine except it’s triggering my abandonment wound, from others and from him abandoning me as a friend years ago for a girl he was dating. One of those weird confusing ‘friendships’. I said to him ‘ya no worries enjoy your summer’, and I feel like I took myself out emotionally from him even as a friend cause I don’t want to be hurt again.:(

I always learn so much from your videos.something iv always wondered out of a psychological aspect; if a man tells you he trust you completely, how much weight does it really carry?He is not one to say much and don't easily open up wither. I want to believe there is a connection between us but he is hardly showing any signs. He will always help me with anything but because he hasn't verbally expressed how it feels it makes me question.

I wouldn’t just start dating others if you’re in an exclusive relationship. I’d start by having an open conversation with him to clarify whether or not the two of you are on the same page first, then make a decision about what you want to do from there. 💜

1:00 i never in my life heard this from a man. Nobody has ever wver told me... im not ready to commit. Is never happend. In very few relatiinships i been the guys do everything. If they wanna talk to me they can call me if they wanna date me they ask me out if they wanna be with me they ask me to be exclusive with them. I just take the back seat and do nothing.

So you mean when he is not moving the relationship forward, but you guys are still in contact, just pull back so that women are one step back than men? So that means you guys are hanging-out just like friends now, women need to step back which is not seeing him as friends, probably cutting off contact?
Every situation is different, so without knowing more details it’s hard to say exactly what you should do. In general, if you’re not exclusive I’d recommend keeping your options open and making yourself available to men who ARE pursuing you and moving the relationship forward. It’s about trusting that the right man will do that, rather than “zeroing in” on one specific man before he shows you that he’s serious, or waiting around for someone who’s not stepping up. What happens if they do lead really heavy and then you tell him you want a relationship and they pull back and say they’re not ready but that they’ll make time to call you do you just have to wait and trust them or did you already screw up by leaning too quick

The guy I'm seeing told me he's not ready for a relationship at the moment but doesn't want to lose what we have, we have been friends first and lovers now. Is it okay for me to see other people in the meantime since he doesn't want to commit? I have a hard time with this cause it feels wrong but at the same time I feel I have to explore if there are other men out there who instead want the same thing as I want. Yes, the woman can often be the EMOTIONAL leader or “conductor” of the relationship (although every situation is unique). This is very different than actually moving the relationship forward in terms of initiating and planning dates, etc. 💞

@@HelenaHartCoaching It's tricky because my person of interest is DOING all the right things- buying me thoughtful gifts, writing me romantic letters/notes, going out of his way to help me, scheduling plans to see me, paying for dinner dates, holding doors, taking photos together, long FaceTimes, fun movie nights, spending time with each others family, etc etc. He is showing me with his actions that he wants me, yet almost 2 years later, he still insists he doesn't want to commit and isn't ready for a relationship and wants to remain "just friends." (We even lived together for a couple months!). In this case, I am trying to convince myself "Actions speak louder than words," but I don't know how much longer I can go on with this feeling of giving someone all the benefits of a committed relationship on my end, without the verbal commitment on his end that would make me feel appreciated and valued.

@@Smokillo I know, right?? He's amazing and so good to me and I am head over heels for him, but he insists we are "best friends." We see each other every week, sometimes multiple nights in a row, and it feels like a relationship, yet whenever I ask about commitment he says he doesn't want a relationship and wants to be single. All my friends say to walk away and move on, but it's so hard to when he is literally the man of my dreams!

If a man tells you " I am not looking for anything serious : BELIEVE HIM! I am a Black woman out her dating at 57 met a nice White guy , 64. And right from the jump he told me that he was not looking for anything serious. So OK I thought I would "one and done" him for sex (which I did/very disappointed in that too). So immediately told him that I met someone else and I would have to cease all contact with him. He was just using me for companionship and wonderful dates with a fine Black sister.
