Before Harvick’s Martinsville spin in 2020, I thought he was well on his way to 70 wins. Now I’m just hoping he gets to 60. He could still find a way to 70, I suppose, but he certainly belongs in the 60 win club. He and Kyle have been two of the best drivers outside of Jimmie in my lifetime and I hope there is a way that at least one of them gets to 70. I haven’t felt this much excitement after a Harvick win in a long time.

i think 2020 and how insane that season was with covid. and the weird rules. kinda set some unreal expectations for harvick. he was never gonna carry on anywhere near where he did under those circumstances. it was a very special season. and being a great wheelman and vet put him in a great spot. but people really expected way more from harvick than they should have.

@@soulfly3438 Absolutely. I just think getting to 58 and seeing such a dominant SHR package, even with him being 44 at the time, I think there was a path where he could squeeze out 3 or 4 wins each in 2021 and 2022. Then, if he just sprinkled in a win or two a piece in his last 3 or 4 seasons, he’d be knocking at the door of 70. Now he’d have to have a 2020 repeat to have a realistic shot, and I don’t think we’ll see another season like that for a while now that so many drivers and teams have shown pace in the new cars.

But there are a lot of sports where actually winning is rewarded. NCAA Conference Champs in basketball and division champs in football for conference championship games, NFL division champs, PGA event winners get 2 year exemptions. The truth is Blaney and Truex have been also-rans all year. I'd like to see something like a top five in points exemption, but then Erik Jones (who is also in the top 16) and Kurt Busch (who'd be out, if Blaney and Truex were waived in) might be just as disappointed. In the end, you can always change the rule in a way that benefits someone at the expense of someone else. There was a guy looking like he was having more than enough fun with himself, but what an experience. I can't say how much i enjoyed going to the track and actually watching the race. I rented the headset to listen to everything going on, drank a few beers, and really enjoyed myself. The energy was exciting, decent race over all. Plus, he's blamed everything and everyone except himself for his own poor performance. Blamed his pit crew, he's blamed other drivers, at one point he blamed NASCAR itself. Meanwhile Kurt Busch, in the same equipment is doing just fine. And with this new car, experience doesn't mean as much. Kevin Harvick before he won was outside of the playoffs. Denny Hamlin is having the worst season of his career. Martin Truex Jr is now outside the playoffs. Brad Keselowski even without his massive penalty would still be in a must win scenario. Bubba Wallace just needs to sit down and realize that he's as good as he thinks or wishes he was.

Legitimate question: would the playoffs be better if (keeping everything else the same), the top 16 in points made the playoffs? Regardless of wins, top 16 in the field make it and then add playoff points after.

Happy Kevin Harvick won but I felt so bad for Bubba

There is a small chance Truex could point his way in. Really sad cause I don't want blaney or him to miss the playoffs

Something I don’t think a lot of people are talking about, when Harvick won everyone in the stands stayed, it really shows the amount of respect the MIS crowd has for Harvick.

Amazing to think that if the All-Star race and the Duel 150's were points races, we would have 18 different winners so far!

I’m so bummed that chastain got absolutely screwed by pitting and then an instant caution afterwards putting him a lap down, he was lightning fast and came through the pack to the front twice in record time! One thing I don’t really understand is why he didn’t get the “wave around” after the leaders went into the pits and was still stuck a lap down? Bell is an idiot and ruined that race for both of them by having zero self awareness.

I would not say record time. Hamlin carved through the field faster

Denny Hamlin has the fastest car every week right now, man. I think it’s safe to say that he’s a favorite to make it to Phoenix

No lie, the 2021 season really hurt as a Harvick fan, and 2022 started out the same, so I’ll be honest I haven’t even watched. I log onto my NASCAR app, see where Harvick is, then just close it and go on to something else. I logged on today and saw that he was racing Hamlin for 1st, then I got excited. To FINALLY get to see Harvick take the checker again was so satisfying. With this win and this format, he’s got a shot. Now I just hope Childress and Harvick found the sweet spot and keep on competing like they used to.

As a Toyota fan, if Blaney and specifically Truex miss the playoffs, they have nobody to blame but themselves. Like Jeff Gluck said, I’d be more upset if a winner got bumped. Winning>Consistency
