    McDowell is seriously impressing me this season. He's not too far from being in the hunt to point himself into the playoffs right now. Doubt that will continue, and it's hard to judge if FRM is just better this year with a rookie in the other car, but to be in 20th in points, 38 points out of 16th after 16 races with 6 top 10s and a top 5 on merit is seriously impressive. I know he's getting up there in age and isn't exactly a hot prospect, but I hope he gets at least one season in better equipment after his performance this year, assuming he keeps it up.

      1992 Save Mart 300. Watch that one! Irvan was black flagged for jumping the start of the race. He served a stop and go penalty dropping him to 43rd.
      He picked his way through the field all race and won it.
      And the 1991 race in which Ricky Rudd spun Davey Allison for the lead. Rudd was black flagged instead of getting the checkers. Davey was given the checkered flag instead. Hopefully he can get another win or so (or there's not 17 winners). It would be very Daniel Suarez like to actually get a win but do it the one time we get 17 winners and end up missing the playoffs

      Well currently both Cindric and Kurt Busch would get booted before him, though they are pretty close to each other. Considering Suarez has had more speed at more tracks than them, I don’t really see it happening. He’s 17th in drivers points and I can definitely see him climbing higher.

    I watched the F1, Indycar, and NASCAR races today, and it was more clear than ever that while the racing product might be comparable (I actually thought Indycar carried today in terms of that), NASCAR's broadcast was by far the worst.
    For me the biggest part of this was overall energy level. Mike Joy is rock solid but a little conservative, and it felt a little like a golf broadcast. The Sky Sports and Indycar guys tend to make it sound a lot more action packed, although slightly shorter races probably help with this.

    I’ve been out of watching NASCAR for a few years and recently started watching again because of the new car and I’ve enjoyed it so far this season. The one thing that I will never enjoy is stage racing. It takes a lot of strategy out of deciding when to pit (not all but a lot). I would like the stage idea better if the racing continued under a green flag instead of slowing down each stage

(Its also kinda crazy how short a time they give guys to work on their damaged cars nowadays, too. Can't get back out there and try to make up points like you used to.) As far as having stages set at a certain lap and rewarding those positions....thats fine. But the cautions feel artificial, and thats not good. Im even coming around to the playoffs (I mean the chase/playoffs have been around in some form forever), but I just hate that the championship comes down to the final race. I'm so glad that Daniel was able to get his first win in the way he did. I always feel kinda bad for driver's when they get their first wins in rain shortened events, like they've been shortchanged the whole experience. But it's gotta be extra special when you do it in a pretty dominant way.
    The coverage has become increasingly frustrating. Seemed like the camera is constantly switching away from developing battles and looking at dumb stuff instead. There was one point where the camera was just focused uncomfortably long the back of Justin Marks in the closing lapts to they point where he turns around with a WTF face.

  • @ScottXC91
    @ScottXC91 2 роки тому +1

    You’ve defintely been a lot more kind and understanding about Fox’s coverage than I’ve been. I’m absolutely sick and tired of their lack of awareness. Over, and over, and over again the cameras will be aimed at an exciting moment starting to play out, Mike Joy will start to comment, and then they’ll cut away right in the middle of it and go to something completely random. They did it 2-3 times today while panning the camera at a set of cars approaching Turn 11. The trailing car would break out to dive bomb the lead car, (you know…probably the most exciting and engaging thing that was happening on track at the time) Mike Joy would start to comment on it, and then they would cut to a solo shot of like Tyler Reddick cruising around the track by himself in 12th. Joy would have to stop mid-sentence, collect his thoughts and start talking again.
    Same thing they did last week with the Hamlin/Chastain incidents.

    First race I've attended in 22 years. Incredibly happy for Suarez he's faced a lot in his still young Cup career including being almost out of the series.
    Larson was dominant early but could never catch up after losing track position using too much of his stuff and then ultimately losing a wheel. Elliott probably wins this race but had the penalty on pit road. Nice rebound to finish 8th.
    Buescher, McDowell, and Keselowski had great runs. McDowell has been steady lately I've noticed improvement throughout the season. Also I was real happy to see Harvick mixing it up in the top 5. Would've loved to see him get the win.
    After Larson and Elliotts troubles the race was there for the taking. Looked like Buescher could hang with Suarez for about 7-10 laps and then Suarez sailed off.

    Thank you for stating the obvious, that we need to end stage cautions at road courses. PLEASE try this NASCAR! Stage cautions do a huge amount to dumb down road racing in NASCAR, as it takes away most of the strategizing around cautions which is present in almost every other road racing series. With stage flags but no yellow flags it would really make the strategy interesting. Some teams might go for stage wins while others will go for the win or track position at the end.
