I've never hidden the fact that I don't think Cody Ware belongs in a Cup car. Having said that, THAT is not how I want him to leave the series. SO glad he missed the end of the pit wall at that opening. Nice to hear he's OK.

I wouldn't be surprised to see him sit out next week. As positive as his results at SS races have been lately, it wouldn't be smart of him or the team to send him out there at such a dangerous track after such a bad crash this week

Weird year. It's fun to have some unpredictability, but it's gone too far. Legit contenders taken out because of issues beyond their control. I hope NASCAR works hard in the off season to turn this mess around. Appreciate all you do Eric. Enjoy the fall season once it finally cools of there in TX.

It's not the same situation and I can give you several reasons why. Whether you think Byron squeezed Lagono into the wall or not, he didn't have half the room Hamlin had to make the corner. Byron didn't damage Lagono's car to where it took him out of contention to win (clearly). Hamlin with his move caused Byron to hit the wall much harder and damaged his steering and lose a ton of spots as well. Though it's Byron's fault for spinning Hamlin under caution, he didn't wreck his car into the wall and take him out of the race.

    • @GRW3

Not really. Byron maintained his line at a place where the track narrowed at the top and Logano was trying to squeeze through. He gives and is always surprised at a return. Larson owed him a bump too.

Perhaps they feel an extended practice would benefit the top teams more, as they have more resources and better personnel to adjust their cars more effectively than the lower tier teams. Whereas, if everyone goes into the race blind, everyone is on an even playing field.

Tires were a problem, but the racing on track was some of the best Texas racing I've seen in years. Honestly, I was on the edge of my seat for most of the race.
It seems to me like the track surface is finally breaking in, so, maybe TMS should hold off on the repave?
A lot of people are saying that it's the car, not the tires. I don't completely agree. My theory is that Goodyear brought a "soft" tire to Texas hoping for some tire fall-off; they did not anticipate the track's surface to be so abrasive. The tires they brought were too soft and, consequently, failed. That's my theory. Though I'm sure the car can be adjusted to mitigate some of the problem.

This is just a hypothesis but the issue with the tires might be because the tires have a much bigger surface area that gives the drivers more grip. To me, that means the drivers are relying on that grip of the tires for speed. The previous car had alot of aero grip that this one may not. My thought is, when the previous cars tires would wear, there was a buffer before the car hit the undrivable stage with the aero grip. Now because of the more reliance on tire grip, there is no buffer from drivable to undrivable when the tires wear out. Texas having a lower speed corner and a higher speed corner gives an added issue to the drivers because they may not feel the lack of grip in turns 1 and 2 due to the lack of speed. It is exaggerated in 3 and 4 because of the almost flat out speeds they are running.

I made a video on this as well. I explained all the issues and things they need to improve on. I love this sport and I am truly ashamed and disappointed in the way this season is ending! Hopefully 2023 is a major improvement!

I am already at the point where I consider this year’s champion to be a Mickey Mouse ring. There’s just been way too much stuff out of control of the drivers and teams that are nascar created problems that have affected the playoffs. Honestly since nascar supplies parts for these cars they can just pick who they want to be champion by supplying better parts to the teams they prefer. NASCAR has been farcical this year. The one thing I especially won’t let slide is they still seemingly are willing to take a step back in safety. I’m 25, and in my life this is the closest I’ve at least perceived us being to getting a driver killed in a race since Dale Sr actually was when I was 3. There is just so much that they need to clean up. I really hope they do because I feel increasingly disenfranchised with the sport.

I don’t understand how Goodyear nor nascar never thought these teams would run so much camber on an independent suspension car

    • @adamodom3361
      @adamodom3361 Рік тому

I could understand your point but then your taking racing out of racing and destroying the point of running independent rears. We might as well bring the ladder bar suspension back. I think side wall development from Goodyear is needed, AND longer practice sessions being permitted from NASCAR to identify these issues before race day. AND MOST IMPORTANTLY a MINIMUM AIR PRESSURE permitted (Not a suggestion) you pay fines. My car at home tells me constant info, we have the technology…take the excuses and finger pointing out of Goodyears hands. But I don’t get paid six figures to make these decisions

tonight i thought to myself, man, im glad we are going to a superspeedway next week for some normalcy... (hopefully) .. the unpredictability is fun but not when its broken cars every week. Been an awful month of racing and now ppl can watch football instead. Ratings probably going to be terrible unfortunately.

I have a Texas track layout reconfiguration idea:
    - Curve the backstretch similarly to Chicagoland
    - Make turns 3&4 shorter slightly, but progressively banked in a similar way to Homestead
    - Turns 1&2 would be like New Hampshire, Bristol, and Kansas: In the way of Kansas, it would be progressive banking with multiple grooves with various banking; like Bristol with the top being pretty banked but narrow, and the bottom groove would be flatter than it is now and similar to New Hampshire. Basically, the bottom groove would be the shortest way around but with so little grip it would be a challenge to put the power down; the top groove would be fast but because of the length of it compared to the bottom, would you be willing to take the extra length; and the middle groove is fast but not as (potentially) rewarding as the other two grooves.
I'm interested to see how everyone else would think about this idea?

Seems like that car setup was a catch 22! If you setup the right rear to hook up, the car was neutral and you can drive fast, but would wear out the tire. If you setup the right rear neutral, the car would be snappy loose and you would back it into the fence. Teams would have found out about this dilemma in long enough practice. The parts issue, simply have multiple vendors to choose from. When you have competing vendors, they are forced to make better products.🤔

I watched the entire Falcons game, a Braves game finish after a 2 hour rain delay. And even without the lightning delay, that was one of the most painful, long, felt like never ending races I've ever seen. Not a single thing about that was enjoyable.

This whole race felt so weird. Hard to explain it really. I can’t quite put my finger on it but the last few weeks really seem to have taken a significant downturn in terms of opinions on the cup cars and the series as a whole. Already kind of looking forward to next year and hopeful for changes. This year has had plenty of highs for sure but I’m just a little over it.

My dad and I were there for our first NASCAR race. It was long, we were tired, the race wasn't that good, but it was so fun. I totally enjoyed it and I cant wait to make it to another race. just hope its a better one next time.

I've defended NASCAR and the playoffs for years now, I cant this year. It has nothing to with talent, and everything to do with luck of the draw and survival. Its like watching squid games.

Arguably, this was the worst NASCAR “race” since the 2008 Brickyard 400.
The fact that anyone in the top 10 for the last 50 laps was at risk of blowing a tire out of nowhere is “unacceptable.”
Piss poor job by the sanctioning body, who do nothing but be reactive instead of proactive, especially when a new racecar gets introduced.
As for Byron VS Hamlin, Denny messed up by walling William off turn 2 (despite it being accidental).
Byron had a top 5 car in that race up to that point & he felt that he got used up & got tired of being run over.
I don’t think William meant to spin Denny, but he was a bit too fast with his bump under caution.
I see it as even, since Hamlin took Byron’s chance at a win away & Byron did the same after.
Both also scored top 10s at the end of the day, so neither driver’s race was ruined.

This is the year of teams and car parity. The new car is an equalizer, and the big money teams are the ones crying the most, because they can’t control what is on the car, and they have no way to fix it, unless they cheat, and get caught , like happened to JGR, and RFK. The car needs some work, but nascar will not allow the teams to do any changes, and want only what nascar says is okay for all teams. I hope they let no teams are allowed to do that. I agree that practice needs to be expanded, as things come up, and bite you during the race.

50% suuuuper generous. I'd go with 10%. That 10% is in recognition of the fact that no one died. That's legit the only positive here.
