Hi- yes we do! Many people retire here because of the tax breaks. We have an expanding health facility right here in the Carson Valley. Carson Tahoe Hospital is about 20 minutes North and they have a large facility with many different specialists. And Reno is about 45 minutes North and they have a few major hospitals. The healthcare unfortunately is getting a heavy volume of a fast increase of people, while the doctors and healthcare workers are leaving or not staying very long.
The only small hospital left is in Gardnerville but they’re competing with the bigger hospitals so patient care priorities are being dropped. They’re also expanding.
I would be prepared to drive to many different locations of hospitals to receive different health care. Ranging from 30-1 hour of time ( one way) depending on weather. There is an influx of California people so expect the roads to be crazy, especially in Reno.
Weather here can be extreme due to winds, heat and snow. This is a more retirement friendly area but as the volume of people swarm in it’s growing to bigger city expectations.
Jen, What are some good places where a minority can feel at home. Thinking of moving here to improve my mental and physical health and enjoy the outdoors.
I believe our community is welcoming to everyone. The area that you'd want to live in would depend on what type of home you're looking for.
