As a black pantera fan this was how I was introduced to them also pantera started as a glam metal band then when Phil joined and they became the groove metal that we all knew about
I knew of Pantera from their glam days. A friend came up to me and said I needed ti hear this band Pantera. I said no thanks, I know who they are. He said no, you need to hear this....and proceeded to play Cowboys From Hell.....mind blown.
For sure. That's exactly what I find the most irritating about Pantera reactions. Multiple albums of wall to wall bangers and everyone mainly just requests the same tiny handful of music videos over and over. Maybe they get hammered with copyright. I dunno. I wish the rest of their work would get more attention. Along with Rebel Meets Rebel. Underrated album.

Pantera got me through high school. Songs like A New Level, Strength Beyond Strength, War Nerve. Their music will always be my go-to when I need to reestablish myself and find my strength.
@DarthRaider520 same! Pantera and Suicidal Tendencies music is what got me through the hardest times in my life. Still to this day, if im not doing so great, I can just pull up either Playlist and get all the bs out!
I got to see Rage Against the Machine open for Pantera in the late 90's. One of my favorite concerts! The energy was insane!🔥 🤟 R.I.P. Dime and Vinnie ❤️
I was 16 years old allllllllll the way back in 1992 when this headbanger that sat behind in my history. He handed me his Walkman and played F@cking Hostile from Vulgar Display of Power. I was this preppy band nerd and was head banging. RIP Dimebag and Vinnie
Dime was a man that loved everybody and that everybody loved. That man could throw down and throw back with the best of em. Pantera was one of the main pioneers of Groove Metal. Kinda like you saw, Flawd, with the way your body just naturally grooved to the riffs. Dime, Vinnie, and Rex created poetic epics through guitars and drums. The brothers are SORELY missed 💔💔
Yo, if you're getting into effect pedals and cool guitar sounds with groove, you have to check out more Korn....Freak On a Leash, Falling Away from me or Narcissistic Cannibal just for starters.
They were and will always be The Kings Of Metal !!!! FOREVER STRONGER THAN ALL 😎 Pantera was and will always be my favorite band , the brothers are miss and their music will be and is an influence for many metal bands 🤘🏻😎💪🏼
They were very original. They went a completely different route and it worked. Metal was a crowded genre, they single-handedly created a new sub-genre of metal and no one else has come close. That's 4 dudes that were born to play together.
It's always bittersweet to see people react to Pantera for the first time knowing dimebag and vinnie are no longer with us. Pantera broke up in 2001 due to issues between the singer Phil and the abbot Brothers, guitar player Darrel "Dimebag Darrel" Abbot and drummer Vinnie Paul Abbot. The abbot Brothers went on to form a new band DamagePlan but Dimebag was murdered on stage (along with three others)by a mentally ill fan at a concert in Columbus, Ohio in 2004. Vinnie Paul obviously never got over witnessing his brother be murdered right in front of him, he died of coronary heart disease in 2018. Two years ago Singer Phil Anselmo(now clean and sober) and bassist Rex Brown began performing again as Pantera with guitarist Zakk Wylde(Black Label society and Ozzy Osbourne) and drummer Charlie Benante(Anthrax) filing in for the tour.
This was considered ‘Groove Metal’ by the band itself. Probably one of the greatest metal anthems of all time. And one of the greatest guitarists of all time.

They have some of the best musicians in each of their respective positions in the band, phil has the most diverse voice i’ve ever heard, he can do so many things with his voice. And Vinnie and Darrel are both amazing at their instruments, Rex is good at Bass too.
I first saw Pantera in 1990 here in Ny, they were like no band I had ever heard before.
