@@peanut-junder I saw them live back in 2008 at the mayhem festival in Florida. Still the most unmatched energy out of all the concerts I've been to. Will always be my favorite memory.
For real, I remember reading an interview with him when he was doing his Murderdolls project and was talking about how much harder it was to learn guitar vs drums, and he had to work at it while playing drums just always "flew out of" him and you can definitely see how the talent just pours through his performance.
Fun thing about joey, he was super short but he had so much power, all this power in a short body made him so mighty behind the kit. RIP to the goat, an inspiration to many, even Steward Copeland from the Police said he saw Joey play and said holy shit.
Saw Joey perform 3 times. Once with Slipknot, once for Metallica in 2004 when Lars was sick and with Murder dolls, where he played guitar. Absolute legend and an insanely talented drummer. Seeing Slipknot again on the 14th December and it'll won't be the same
Joey “Speed Demon” Jordison was unholy. He was not from this earth. Simply a Drum God. Once that mask was put on and sat on that drum set it was like Ghost Rider, all hell would break loose and everything would catch fire. His precision, unique style, lightning speed, creativity and energy was just unmatched….still to this day. Long lived #1….The best drummer ever.
I remember Slipknot taking the 2nd stage at Ozzfest '99 - 9 guys in masks and coveralls crammed into a small stage and just tearing it up! The album wasn't out and no one knew the songs... but in 20 minutes, the crowd was just exhausted from the pits... I specifically remember the drummer being a short guy spinning his hair while he played the drums! That was Joey Jordison. In 2001, Slipknot were on the main stage and the entire venue of 19K people were lit up when they hit the stage. They were back again in 2004 and Joey Jordison was playing on a drum riser that lifted him and his kit up and turned him sideways while he played and did his drum solo... I was so blessed to see the classic 9 Slipknot numerous times before bassist Paul Gray died in 2010 and they did a tour in his honor in 2012 - that was Joey Jordison's last Slipknot tour. Joey Jordison also played guitar in a horror/ glam rock band The Murderdolls... and in the project Scar the Martyr... He actually did part of a Metallica show when their drummer Lars Ulrich was sick and couldn't play that night... He played drums for diverse bands on tour - Satyricon... Ministry... Rob Zombie... etc. He was fired around 2013 for not showing up to rehearsals for a new Slipknot album... We now know that he was sick and couldn't play drums to the standards seen here... He kept busy w/ projects like Vimic ... Sinsaenum... before he passed away in 2021 at age 46 (R.I.P.) Joey Jordison is still remembered as one of the greatest extreme metal drummers of all time.
MANNNNNNNN Since we are getting into I guess. I think it's time to get into Slipknot's IOWA album. One of the heaviest and darkest periods of the original 9 members in the band. Right after tattoo the earth performance from the first album they went right into making the next. Corey blew his voice out after this album along with addictions, drinking, partying so on and so forth. Joey was the mold that was holding the band together and once he died sadly, the band never was the same after the first and second album. So songs of of IOWA is a must. Much love!! ♥♥
I saw Joey when Slipknot was headlining Mudvayne and System of a Down back in 1997; they had Joey on a platform, that raised and tilted forward, showing an inverted pentagram. He didn't miss a beat, fucking amazing!
Fun fact: Earlier this month, Forbes ranked Slipknot as one of the 10 greatest metal bands of all time, coming in at number 7, behind only Ozzy Osbourne, Judas Priest, Pantera, Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath and Metallica.
The difference between Joey and other drummers was the creative side of him....the writing of the first few Slipknot albums mostly came from him and it really shows
@@Chris-x4n6p joey and shawn the clown crahan absolutely out did themselves and every other band all the way up to all hope is gone. Once they lost Paul and joey departed they kind of fell a little flat in the drum department
Nu-Metal is metal with some Hip-Hop influence. They actually do rap a little bit here and there with clean vocals, but the rhythm and rhyme schemes of the screams are similar to rap as well.
If you wanna check the most insane drummer of modern age, Evgeny Novikov is the guy that plays them for the band Slaughter to prevail (Singer was featured in Falling in reverse - Ronald song). His only drums playthroughs are insane.
I was lucky enough to meet Joey in Liverpool (England) when he was with his other band Murderdolls. I was dying for a pee and was front of the line but I had to go. Went round the back of the venue and there he was by the back entrance in all his leather. We talked for 10 minutes and he gave me one of his black wrist band things which I still have in a frame. R.I.P. to the legend/God!
I dunno if you've done Sic or Spit it Out yet. If not big recommends. Typical react content most people recommend the Spit it Out live because energy is hype. However I'd recommend a Spit it Out video with the studio release audio personally.
While Joey was indeed a GOAT...... if you guys truly want to blow your minds at a drum cam, check out Tomas Haake. The drum cam from either Bleed or Clockworks is next level. I'd put him up against Danny Carey from Tool any day
Drumcams are so awesome to watch you should check out eloy casagrande drum cams. And one of the ultimate drum cam videos ever is 'pneuma' by tool, danny carey drum cam 🎉🎉🎉
Slipknot has had Tech N9ne tour with them quite a few times and Tech has influenced some of Corey Taylor's delivery with some of the pacing in a few Slipknot songs
You guys definitely should react to the studio version of this song. As fucked up as it is, it's actually really good and the quality is so much better (Obviously).
Rock In Peace Joey. The only better drum cam is Tomas Haake from Meshuggab on "Bleed" and Danny Carey from Tool on "Pneuma" but they are both newer versions than this version
This dude and chester got me into metal. I dont like either band now, i have aquired my own taste slowly since teenage years 😂 gateway bands are heroic till you die, even if you dont listen to them anymore.
nah, boring af. you guys need to watch drum cams from bands like animals as leaders, Meshuggah, leprous, gojira... joey wasn't a bad drummer, but the only people that think what he is doing is difficult are people that don't play drums
The new drummer...Eloy... is nothing compared to Joey (or Jay). When I watch him play it looks like he's doing his best to keep up. The band could have made a better choice considering they fired a great replacement for Joey.
RIP one of the best to ever sit behind a kit...
The best.
Him and the Rev. The Rev is my favorite Drummer . Syn is also my favorite Guitarist
@@Amocorudebatable. He's top 5 but the best for me would be the Rev or Neil Pert. I put them both over Joey.. all GOATS in their own way though
@@XvKJP2015 still debatable. Not the best, Joey is.
Joey wrote some of the BEST drum parts in Metal history, but preferred the guitar.
The original 9 members of Slipknot, I saw them 3 times. The live performance and energy was and still is unmatched. RIP Joey and Paul.
Saw them twice together, such a great show \m/
Saw original lineup live after 3rd album coheadline with Slayer. One of the best live shows I've ever seen (and I've seen a LOT)
@KrisDavis-y8d dooooope. I never got to see Slayer. But I caught the other 3 of The Big 4. Rock on brother 😎
