Growing up as a kid in the middle of America, finding John Cooper Clarke was such a breath of fresh fucking air and is still a breath of fresh fucking air 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Agree with comments below..hes in top form and its the in between poem banter thats almost as enjoyable as the poems. Brilliant stuff. Few of us actually got him to a do a gig at a bar in Newry in 2012, while touring Ireland..Amazing.
He's mates with my Ex and came around my house when I was in jail. Absolutely gutted i didnt get to meet him. Got tickets to see him next week in Sheffield though. Woohoo
That is true about Johnny Cash. He never actually did any time in prison, other than a couple of overnighters, despite his singing persona giving the impression he whiled away many a year looking whistfully through the bars on a window at Folsom.
In interviews he always made that clear!.He did enough local 2&3 nights in his local 'Clink' but made it clear Merle Haggard had done real time!..And he played the Prison's just to give the inmates something to feel good about it! At this point of his career he could have played anywhere& steered well clear of these places( and they were very explosive back then(lots of riots)..So as brilliant as JCC is,his context was slightly off!
@@billythedog-309 I am academic went to uni and got a HND in business management but education is a con mostly, especially now we have the woke brigade coming from universities now - they are a loss to the real world
@@AntzWar Come on, you're letting the side down - you forgot to mention politically correct lefty loonies. As a proud business manager you should know that the 'brigade' coming out of universities have always been more enlightened than the mass of the population and not just at the present.
Love JCC but I also love Merle Haggard and unlike Johnny Cash who only ever had one night in the cells, Merle did do "some serious bird," in a serious prison (San Quentin) for a serious crime (armed robbery. He also shared cells with guys on death row, ran booze and gambling rackets inside and spent time in solitary confinement. He's still alive too so please Dr Clarke, if you ever meet him don't tell him to "get over it."
I miss the poems, he tlaks to much these days and the jokes ok in bits, but he rants too much...old days were better when he was a machine poet and there was less talk....mind you he's like 104 these days lol.

Our very own Salford poet legend

Has anyone else noticed how the bard of Salford looks like that bloke out of the Rolling Stones ?
Geoffrey Aldwinckle you mean Ronnie wood,John is cooler!
No, but I did notice how he resembles a cracked-out Bob Dylan.
The dead one? Yeah he's no fitness fanatic our Johnny.
Ronnie.lol
But better looking 😂
Did my gcse on one of his poems when it was supposed to be shakespeare got an e or an f, was in 1997/98
Haha good on you! Excellent choice even though you did get marked down
School is bollocks, great choice hope it shocked the teacher, I completed GCSE a year later and it was Macbeth or Romeo and Juliet and all that BS

NATIONAL HERO??
Global Hero.
He shared a flat with Nico.Cocoa and water bottle before 9.30.
Dr. Cooper Clarke should definitely be nominated for the Nobel Literary Prize instead of the kind of poets that I despise.
Still. u have it.
HA! Brilliant! And spot on with the Johnny Cash comment...
ad for deep riverrock
Who ever was filming was muttering through it almost seeing if he could utter the poem on cue....oi! Shut it!.
Everyone’s going to read one of them first! Gas man
Rotten to the core Johnny rotten here in jail no bail just jail
One thing that is amazing about this ( there may be others ) is that many people think we shall one day be visited by Aliens.
