Try watching this video after spending the morning at the ER with severe abdominal pain! Woke me up from my Benadryl induced sleep at 3 AM by 6 AM I gave up and went to the ER for IV pain meds and rehydration. It’s now almost 7 pm and it’s starting again. I really want the chicken and rice from the second place and the mango thingy! Me love mango, starts drooling!

We do take our everyday food for granted - it's when you study/work abroad for years that you get this huge craving for food from home. Whenever I come back it's never any of the hundreds of (delicious) restaurants that I go to. It's ALL about the mee pok tah, yong tau foo, laksa and other local hawker center fare.

For Chicken Rice, try Boon Tong Kee. They have many outlets, do try to find the main branch as it is the oldest. Or Kampong chicken - means free ranged chicken. They sell cold crab too! Really yummy, and the crab roe is really worth the price!

Hey Mike! You should try out He Ping claypot rice at Lorong 19 Geylang. Get their cuttlefish kangkong too, but because suppliers for cuttlefish have raised prices crazily they have removed it but the kangkong sauce is so good...pair I with the claypot rice, best combination ever. I got there twice a month and I stay 20 km away! Trust me man you’ll love it. Keep coming to Singapore!

I thought the best was tian tian until I tried 139 Hainan Chicken Rice at Yuhua Village Market & Food Centre, Blk 254 Jurong East St 24 #01-39, 600254. They have the best white chicken rice in Singapore! Cannot go back to tian tian after that. 139's Chicken is significantly bigger, more tender, juicier. Rice is like little clear pearls and super fragrant, fluffy and 粒粒分明。 The chilli sauce is the best ever. It's fragrant and has the perfect balance of flavour and kick that you would want to spoon over your rice and it that way! We do that every single time! Its become a staple meal at least once a week for our family. Whats more, they sell other types of meat too, such as roasted chicken, roasted pork, char siew too! Don't forget to order a side of chicken innards (鸡胗)! The cook them to perfection! Soft yet bouncy, the liver so well done its tender... ohhhh.... u have to try that!

Have to agree. I strongly dislike Tian Tian's chicken rice, imo over-rated. In Singapore, preference and taste greatly differs and we'll be always arguing where the best spots for certain food are.

Have to agree. I strongly dislike Tian Tian's chicken rice, imo over-rated.
In Singapore, preference and taste greatly differs and we'll be always arguing where the best spots for certain food are.

I love this video. As a foodie I appreciate how you observe/eat your food. I do wonder if you ever eat dishes that aren’t good. The only reason I ask is IF you have ever watched food network or any typical food show (everything is always delicious). I find that to reduce the credibility of what I watch and i feel like it’s specifically designed to pander to the public instead of giving the WHOLE truth or fact about the food.
