Mexican culture reminds me of US culture in the 1950s. It was a much better time. When I was in Mexico before COVID closed down travel, I noticed how great it was to shop for food in the market. There were so many fresh foods. Butchers would cut meat for you and cheese makers would shred it fresh for you. The family culture is one my family still shares. I look forward to visiting friends in Mexico once again in a few months.

You nailed it in this video! I've been to Mexico twice now with my fiancé to visit family. My favorite difference is the family aspect. Like you said, family is important everywhere, but in Mexico it's next level. I love love love this point since we have five children together. Everything you do is family oriented and if you go somewhere, chances are family members are joining you too. I can't wait for the day we move there! :)

As a white northeastern American, I have to look through like 18 sour cream containers in the fridge before I find the one that’s actually sour cream 😂. I have no idea where the pots in the oven thing came from, but the “free Tupperware” thing is just common sense to me.

I grew up relatively poor in the US in the 1970s, and we reused plastic butter tubs for food storage all the time! Our cups were also old cheese and butter containers that were designed to be reused as such.

I think italians and mexicans, as maybe latins, have something in common. The importance of the family, stay all together... The flip flop weapon😂😂😂 and also re-using plastic containers for tomate sauce homemade, or sauces...😂😂😂 I think my mother still has her collection😂😂

As a Filipina, the time was so relatable. Example, if an event that was planned to start at 6PM, it can probably be moved for a few minutes or hour (6:30 or 7PM). We usually crack a joke about it as "Filipino time". It has been normal here in the Philippines. Funny yet sometimes some people can be angry because of delays (depending on the situation too.)
Thank you for sharing this video. I had so much fun watching this too. Hugs and Kisses from Philippines! 😄❤

Puerto Ricans that I have had dealings with, want with all their hearts to be distinguished as "different" from Mexicanos. They lord the fact that, "We're Citizens, and not like you Mexicans". That is such a prestige in their psyche that it tends to become critical towards other Hispanic cultures. I don't blame them, but I also don't associate with them unless I have to.
Anglo Americans look at Hispanic people as one homogenous mass, & assume that they all eat rice n' beans, tacos, and tortillas.
      Nope.
I must say that the Puerto Ricans I have met have such an intense burning, raging, desire to be different, and be seen as different than Mexicanos.
The PR's I have met from the island are friendly and open, and want to participate in activities together.
Once they have lived in places like huge cities though, they turn more introverted and cautious. I can't blame them. We go through that ourselves. In my opinion they see Mexicanos as competition in some game that has a finish line full of American prestige and power. Where as we see the same obstacles and just work to remove them so we can face the next hurdle.
Its a shame IMO that we can't get along better, but that's logical. They are the predominant Hispanic culture in the northeastern US, along with Colombians, Cubans, and Dominicans in the State of Florida. Mexicanos are prevalent in the Southwestern US and Chicago also. Hopefully one day we will see each other not as competition, but as regular equals in life.

Yakko Wakko and Dot Warner were late for the music recital by Nieves Nosenest. The Warners were born (drawn in the Animaniacs universe) in Burbank, (Alta) California, so the border crossed them. Gringexicanos To The end! That may explain their tardiness.
The Mexican custom is to be tolerant of tardiness in people. The gringos seem more tolerant of tardiness than the French, especially with people in the store at the time of closing.

that probably represents a difference between the catholic social ethic vs the protestant social ethic. As a protestant we are taught that a man leaves his family, takes a wife and becomes 'one flesh' with this wife. Therefore, to a protestant the wife should be the most important woman in a man's life. Unfortunately, divorce rates being over 50% and divorces initiated by said wives being over 80%, we should now RECONSIDER this social ethic!

6:35 I grew up "lower class", or poor, and my family will save those type of food containers also, even the small disposable cups applesauce comes in (it makes a great dipping sauce holder). To clarify I am Estadudense, so its interesting to see this happens sometimes in MX too. Here it is only normal if you are poor, every middle class friends I had as a kid would always comment on the oddness of that when they would come to my house. We even save the plastic grocery bags from the supermarket, to use as small trash bags. For my family, we did this because my grandma lived with us and she was an extremely poor child during The Great Depression (1930s), so for her being wasteful especially bothered her, as when she grew up they were not even wealthy enough to throw out food that has just started to mold, they would just prepare it another way, because they had literally no other options for food to eat. I picked up a lot of her habits growing up lol
    (EDIT)
idk why I said "I grew up lower class" as if I am no longer that. I still very much am

As Americans moved further away from the depression era and money became easier to acquire and food storage containers from china became widely available & really cheap we seen a decline in that cultural behavior.

Bueno, que soy "foodie" y yo tengo un receta pa' tamales that I learned from my friend Jesus de la Garza, as he and his esposa gringa learned from his mum, who learned from her mum, who crossed the Rio Bravo del Norte durante the Revolucion, and raised her children by selling tamales on the street in San Antonio... But yes, as far as food goes nosotros del Norte are VERY diverse. Even in small cities, when you go out to eat the question is what kind of food? Ethiopian? Mexican? Indian? Fish and Chips? Fried Chicken? Chinese? and on and on. Pero, si claro, hay tacos pa'todas partes, tal ves es el mas comun. Asi me conviene.

_"My boyfriend is getting picked up by his friend Stephanie to go have lunch at blah-blah-blah. I don't like that food, so I'm going home to do my nails😊"_
Or me: *"Sweetie, I don't like this song, but I know you do. I'm stepping out to have a cigarette. Dance with your friend Michael over there; poor guy looks lonely and bored."*

Yes a huge difference! As a Mexican i seen a lot of differences , Mexican men are taught to date to find a potential wife and marriage is sacred and very much valued because of religion ( Religion plays a big part in our culture) , In a relationship the men usually is the breadwinner and provider to the whole family ,while the woman are usually the homemakers, even if you decide to work the men will still usually pay every single thing around the house and u keep your money. Versus in America Men are not usually looking to marry and most of the time are looking for 50/50 relationships or casual hook up, that could be because hook up culture is growing in America at the moment, Which can also indicate why Marriage rates are going down rapidly. Divorce is also not common in Mexico because of Religion while in America is quite common, Mexicans tend to work things out literally into death do them apart (most of the time) Though Mexican men tend to be a little more machistas then American men, American men wouldn't mind cleaning the house or cooking you breakfast lol, New Generations are leaving behind that macho tradition but theres still work to be done

I guess the thing about Mexican culture that I was never able to get used to was the very open way people criticize others' physical shortcomings...trompuda, nalgona, cabezon, pelon, cojo, guero desabrido, Indio, negrito, etc, etc. We gringos are very sensitive about these things.
Also had trouble with the constant homophobic and racist jokes..i.e. "Trabajando como negro para vivir como blanco." Once again, taboo stuff for gringos.

México es cultura americana. Los anglos no tienen cultura americana, mucho menos los Negros , chinos. Todos los hispanos o latinos somos la cultura americana.

*Simple: one is run by cartels and the people in general do nothing about it and the other one isn’t and actively fights against the cartel’s/criminal’s nonsense.*
