I just got the X-Pac version of the Fit Pack 2 and I thought I'd write in here with the differences I've spotted other than those already mentioned (x-pac material + stronger buckles). 1. The X-Pac version has the two holes at the bottom of the shoe compartment like the FP1, but it is designed like FP2 in that the compartment doesn't fold back; you just unzip and put your shoes inside. 2. There is a second elastic (Chase would say "undies") compartment in the main duffel compartment which I haven't seen in FP1 or vanilla FP2. 3. The tech compartment has the two pen slots like FP2 with no velcro on the bigger two pockets. 4. X-Pac FP2 has a tablet compartment underneath the padded laptop compartment, just like FP1. 5. There is a single seatbelt-material strap in the channel between the two back pads that works as a pass-through strap for the handles of a rolling suitcase. Hope that helps anyone wondering about the differences! I couldn't find this information anywhere so I thought I'd chime in.
Also, I decided to pick up the Aer TP2 XPac using your link. Your review pushed the needle for me. I was on the fence between TP2 and the Tortuga Setout 35L. Both good decisions, but I decided to go with what spoke to me. I appreciate your approach to life, and how you seem to purposefully pursue experiences, holding out to only acquire things that improve one's quality of life by making life more productive and enjoyable. Kudos and cheers 🍻
So I got my Fit Pac 2 in X-pac and I love everything about. I was worried I would like the look of it in person because of the diamond pattern but its really understated and looks really nice. So far I love everything about the bag and its little details. I wish they threw an extra D ring or something on the side but the AER logo that's stitched on there is like a strong rubber kind of material and it can be lifted off the bag in between the stitching to slide a carbiner that has a slim pocket clip on it.
Just made the purchase today. Their site is confusing... it seemed like it was available in 2 other colors, but I could only order it in black. Looking forward to traveling with this.
Hans! How do you like it? I've never had any Aer products, but I have a Flight Pack 2 X-Pac coming my way in the mail. Would you prefer this over the 1680 ballistic nylon? Assuming price doesn't matter.
Thanks for yet another excellent video review, Chase. I have the x-pac sling, and have used it daily since I got it (just 3 days ago) but I am really digging it. Its very similar to the 'regular' AER day sling but it has a lighter weight feel, the great orange hi vis interior and an extra pocket so I don't see this beauty being replaced here by any other slings any time soon. OK, I'll admit it...I like that it says special limited edition inside, too. :)
THANK YOU Chase, I have being looking into a bag and just needed this little push into the travel backpack. Now my search is complete and you helped me a lot. No need to see reviews from bags anymore, but will continue to see your channel no matter what (specially for the rants). Love from Brazil.
Would love to see you compare different size water bottles in all your backpack/ bag reviews. I was super skeptical on purchasing the flight pack 2 because I was worried my 32oz camelback chute would not fit.
High-five! The Aer Fitpack V1 was the first backpack that made me more conscious of my daily carry. I hope you get to review the Black Ember 3-Way Backpack too someday since I’m about to jump in on their kickstarter. Stay classy, Mr.Chase #Flaneur Reeves.
marcof247 Second'd to this! I chose to go in on the Black Ember Forge. I'd love to see you review it, Chase. For a second bag, I'm trying to decide between the Tortuga Setout 35l or the Aer TP2 Xpac. My mind says just get the Tortuga, it's cheaper and sufficient, but my heart yearns for the sexy TP2 XPac edition. Any thoughts, any of you???
Looks great especially the orange interior and the lighter overall weight. How long is the distance between the place where the shoulder straps attach at the top and the middle of the hip belt (or where it attaches)? I’m having trouble finding a pack where the hip belt hits at the right place and am curious about this measurement compared to a pack I’m trying out at home. I’m 5’ 9.5” and need to know if the hip belt will really absorb weight and be at the proper position or if it is really just for stopping side to side swaying.
The X-Pac and Cordura versions weight differences are very minimal. 1680D version in at 3.65 lbs and X-Pac version in at 3.55 lbs. So weight not too far from another.
WaterField Tech Sling, Chase. I'm SUPER interested in your thoughts, man. I ❤️ the aesthetic but am unsure of the function vs Aer Travel Sling. I need a tech bag for my 13'' MacBook pro as I do work at the cafe and meet with clients in the (real estate) field.
Joshua Henderson I own that bag; I’ve wanted a sling that supports a laptop that size for awhile. I got both sizes; love the smaller one for an EDC sling, but the laptop size had weirder proportions on my frame, and became more of a sub-par solution for a full computer.
The travel backpack looks great and i love the orange interior lining. ive been eyeing up between a few backpacks for a future trip but im swaying towards this one, i feel it could work well as a carry on if i utilise it with packing cubes so its organised :)
Jay Aez This. Selfishly, it would be cool to see Chase get an advance version of the Forge for review bc I backed that one. I'm trying to curate a collection to match various needs, without going overboard (Chase makes them all look pretty fab.) He has reviewed other Black Ember stuff though. If you'll search it's not too hard to find. His comments on the quality of their other bags were pretty much THE reason I felt good about backing the Forge.
Yeah it's basically the same. Not enough material to really notice a big difference unless you really want an orange interior. I love my DS2, but wish it had less pockets on the inside main compartment.
Hey Chase, great updated review! What's your take on the Aer TP2 X-PAC versus the Greenroom136 Rainmaker VX42, which is another bag that you really liked and is now available in the same sailcloth material, which drastically increases it's value for money. The TP2 has the advantage of Aquaguard zippers, a water bottle pouch and hip belt, compared to annoying rainflaps and no side pouches (to get the same clamshell for main) on the RM. The RM's appeals are the better value, Fidlock buckles, loadlifters (not sure if that is better than hip belt) and ease of warranty (from Australia). Thanks!
My X-PAC DaySling 2 arrives today! It’s gonna be perfect for ripping around town on my OneWheel. My LocTote drawstring bag is great, but it’s a bit much (size/weight) for simply wanting to clear my pockets when rolling out for a quick ride.
Agent Franks YES! This. I just came across that today and couldn't find a decent review. I'm going to get either that or the Aer Travel Sling. I don't dig the Eddie Murphy Raw look of the Aer Tech Sling. That WaterField looks like art and function working together.
My main gripe with the nylon fit pack is that the laptop pocket doesn't have water resistant zippers. SO I'm trying to decide if I should get the standard and a waterproof case or the x-pac.
These look great. Is there a difference between someone with more bags than they need and a bag collector? If I needed another bag just now, I'd look into one of these.
Hey chase thanks for all Of the great reviews. I’m Torn between the ATP2, Tortuga outbreaker, and the Peak Design Travel Pack. I’ve watched a shit load of your bag reviews looking for any other input to help my decision.
Great review as always. I missed out on the anniversary 20% off sale for the Travel Pack, I guess this was the reason. Grabbing an X-Pac version and maybe even the day sling.
How much more length is available on the sling strap? I really want the x-pac sling but I’m a big guy and worry that it wouldn’t fit me well. I was lucky enough to get a Summit Daypack (thanks to your reviews) before they sold out everywhere. I had no idea the impact that having such a high quality pack would make on my daily life. Thanks for making such mindful content. I look forward to seeing your collab with Pakt!
Hey Chase! I've been doing research on Ucon Acrobatics bags! They look great!! Do you think you're gettin' your hands on them any time soon??! Great work!
Hey man love the videos! *I have a question* what is the best camera bags you suggest for a starter videographer, i need it to fit a 15" laptop and should be around 100-150$ thanks!
Hey Chase, thanks for an awesome overview, as always! Two questions: 1. Is lining the same material just different color? Or a different material altogether? I have a Tech Sling and have to say not in love with grey inner lining feel. 2. Are you planning to review X-Pac version of the Boundary Supply Prima? I have a regular 1.0 Mojave tan version that I love, but that sucker is heavy AF when fully packed. I wonder if X-Pac 2.0 is any better. Cheers and hello from Kyiv, Ukraine. Alexander
I’m not with the bags right now. Assuming they are the same material just different color. I didn’t notice a difference in weave size. Primal likely still heavy when packed out in x-pac. But been trying to get those bags from them for a while.
There is indeed that sucks about every one of Chase’s reviews... I watch them then go “Ooh! I need to get that!” I’m already addicted to luggage and have like 10 backpacks and enough suitcases to take a world cruise. Then, I watch these reviews and I feel so compelled to go buy another! 😆😆😆

Joe Sciabica too be honest not much difference in looks I’d say say the xpac feels nicer in my opinion, definitely you can tell no water will penetrate the xpac version
