Am going on safari this week. Bought both the Peak travel backpack and the new Peak duffel/65L and have to chose one Packed them both up a few times with all my stuff, gear, clothes, camera, meds, etc. In the end I am going with the smaller travel backpack. Main reasons: 1. Better organisation ... more ways to keep things within reach on multi leg air and land movements 2. More comfortable on the back 3. Nice tight feel, whereas the duffle allowed more slushing around of everything 4. Actually fit just as much in compressed mode 5. Certainty of carryon...whereas the duffle was iffy Hope this is helpful to some Curtis in Hong Kong
Things that get me into a new backpack: Making sure i have a place for my business papers, dodads, mushroom powders and ayahuasca PLUS the abundance of Whipple Snarfs. Clothing etc. is always second place. Great review as always Chase, thank you sir.
I'm so hooked on peak designs stuff right now... their packing cubes are dope, field pouch is dope, tech pouch is dope, camera straps are dope. One thing i would love to see from peak is a smaller edc backpack... like 15-20 liters. You the man Chase!
Yeah I think something even smaller then that would be cool more like 15 liters or less (I realize the everyday comes in a 20 liter) ... like a slimmer tech bag.
One thing you did forget to mention and it is advertised on the little tag/brochure that comes with the bag, is that using the compression straps - depending on how you have the bag packed, you can compress the bag to 35L, which should make it carry-on friendly.
@@soonho96 I know this comment is old, but i'll answer anyway. The top of the bag can be rolled up a little bit, and held down with the external carry straps included with the bag. It effectively makes the top of the bag end at the height of the shoulder straps.
@Justin Doughty Really? This would be awesome. Because I am thinking about getting the 65l or the 35l. So if it really would be possible to compress the 65l down to 35l this would be the perfekt bag, because of the backstrap and shoulder straps. So far I couldn't find more informations about this.
the "foreskin" is there because you can use the compression straps can be used to fold that down and hold it in place so you can reduce the size of the bag to 45L, which DOES allow it to be a carry on ! It really can do it all. We took this bag to Disney. I was able to carry it on on the way there, then used the extra space to pack the stuff we aquired on the vacation then checked it on the way home.
You can carry on this duffle bag! You have to roll the top down but they describe it in the official peak design video very clearly. Other than that awesome vid!
I'm looking at picking up this bag and I saw that on the official video. If you own the bag/have tried this, do you know how much it takes away space wise if any?
I saw that video but you don't even need to do that to carry on. It's squishy so you can stuff it on as a carry on. Especially the black one as it doesn't stand out as too big for carry on. I've done it and many people have carry it on NP
This bag has a place not mentioned. I can think of travelers who carry 2 bags on the way out (because having your stuff lost or damage on the way to destination suuucccks), but on the way back they want to lighten the load and check the bag (because who cares if your stuff is delayed when you are home anyway)? So you under pack it on the way out (and try to sneak by the gate agents with it lightly loaded) on the return trip, use the expansion option....move your stuff from your 2nd bag into this beast and check that sucker on the way home (no running around through airports making connections with the extra bag on the return trip).

Juan, the 35L duffel bag has a big-big conceptual flaw. Since the grab handles can easily be removed there is good chance of it getting lost in the transit or been misplaced. Since shoulder strap too is stowable, one could literally be stranded with a bag that is strapless.

The LBB Peloton Asphalt is excellent - I own one. Love it. Given its target audience (cyclists) the tarp lining makes it kill it when out cycling in the ole deluge. From what I see, this looks to be the new king of travel duffels. Only problem I see with it is that it is too nice and too expensive. $200 is a lot for a bag that is going to get destroyed in airplane cargo holds. Is only really going from A to B, and isn’t going to interact with you that much. It’s an amazing product, but really too good for what it needs to do. If you have to carry lots of stuff over lots of rough terrain for a long period of time across many locations, this bag is worth it. But I don’t think hardly anyone travels that way.
Eh, i disagree. I don't see this material being destroyed (some airlines, I know, can be really good at destroying bags), and I don't agree that "it's only going from A to B" means it doesn't need to do much. Getting from A to B *is* travel. And there are lots of shitty things that can happen between A and B. My love of good design is rooted in godawful and unnecessary experiences in life. Peak material is tough as hell, I own the 10L Sling and the 20L Everyday backpack and you could probably attack them with knives and ninjas with swords and they would be fine and I’m only half joking. Duffels are hard to destroy too, no wheels or hard corners, get a little dirty at best.

Peak material is tough as hell, I own the 10L Sling and the 20L Everyday backpack and you could probably attack them with knives and ninjas with swords and they would be fine and I’m only half joking. Duffels are hard to destroy too, no wheels or hard corners, get a little dirty at best.
Ok… so this is an old video but I like the energy you give just wish you moved on from the straps WAY before the 5 minute mark 😉
30 minute video feeling like 3. 10/10
UGLY @@@@ Definitely need more colours or this gets beat easily by its competitors just based on colour
I seriously love watching your videos even if not interested in the products lol
I thought you were going to pull out a standard lamp - Mary Poppins style.
legit didnt know PD started selling this bag until i saw the link in the description box
20:20 Why didn't you open the bag to it's full capacity 65L when you were demonstrating the inside of the bag with the packing cubes?
Bag seems a little too large for carry-on to airplanes right? Even though it is at 45L...
I got mine last week, good design, shit quality, ok for pre order price from Kickstarter, over price for original price
Just curious...what is shitty about the quality? Most of their products I have seem to be pretty great quality.
@@KeithVlk thread end not trimmed, zip does not work well...for me 165 for the design is ok, but if it's 200-300, most of the bag at this price have better quality, I got the travel line too, they are much better than this one, I can found 5-10 places have the thread not trimmed
@@kaykwong1888 you should just contact Peak Design, I contacted them about something like that with the travel line backpack and they immediately sent a new bag.
Always a great time watching your videos ……… my feel good time on the web
🍻
Love your videos as always though I prefer the old background 😁...anyway...How do you make sure the bag is secure and zips are not opened when checked-in? Does the bag comes with rain cover or we need to wrap it?
12:13 This the the reason why I follow! You tell it like it is. Love this rant!
Is there a laptop pocket?
No
That fucking sound effect at 2:25 jfc
Always entertaining. Great job.
Does this have a shoulder strap? I would like to place a Sony FS7 in it, and hopefully it fits. But a shoulder strap is almost necessary, so the camera doesn't tumble around :)
Any chance you can review the small bro 35L of that one?
He has a video of the regular Peak travel bag up from when they first came out.
@@admingeneral6532 I meant the 35l duffel bag. Sorry.
@@JP-be9cx Yeap, i see it. On the Peak page it says "coming soon", maybe not out yet?
I always love your Rick Steves shoutouts hehe
Ordered it thanks chase!
Is it better than the previous 45L one?
@Chase - what do those two huge zippers along the edges of the rigid material on the bottom do? Is that where it expands?
review the REI Big Haul 60 duffel bag
dan cummins was the comedian, the bit was called whiskey, laudanum, saw!
I wish there was a place to securely store my laptop and have easy access for tsa 😑 for that I give it a 9/10. Other than that I love everything about it!!!
whipple-snarfs
You are right. You ARE a daddy 😏
I'm here and you're not!, why not?
the 35L does have shoulder straps...
You are dope bro. You kill it. Keep it coming 🍻
"I love those Maxx-inistas"
Great review man, thanks!
Another fun review, keep up the hard work.
A Peak Design introduction without putting camera in it will never be a good Peak Design review.
People even can't know what this can do and how it is better after your 30 min. Intro.
Oh so you added that cheesy WB cartoon sound effect, but no longer have those random screams of yours...booooo
Gotta mix it up.
What happened to the video quality this ep?
The new wandrd is outttt, check it chase
I have their PRVKE series and love it but HEXAD is over thought-out & over designed. Also the shell is too rigid & unforgiving had to return it after only a week of use.
Vox Populi the Prvke remains the dopest bag in terms of aesthetic. Wandrd and Peak Design never stop innovating so I try to get best of both worlds🤔
Awesome review) so passionate!) Thanks
This guy is very amused with himself.
That's a great pppack
Done deal. My wife and I can like totally put both of our ... (children, no) ... packing cubes inside of here.
A waaaay toooo long video.. I love the bag, but come on dude. Ceep it clean and snappy.. your repeating way to much. :)
ReyZ I hope you’re being sarcastic
