Whoa! The boarder on the C2C is brilliant!!!! I have made 4 C2C blankets, since lockdown, in NC. They are sitting on my fireplace hearth, waiting for a proper boarder! I am so excited, now I know how to nicely finish each one, and wrap for Christmas! My husband will be so pleased, to have the hearth cleared in time for Fall wood storage! 😉 I am so grateful to have found your video! Thank you!
Thank-you SO much for this tutorial! I started knitting scarfs after 911 and it has been years since I picked up some knitting needles! You have helped me complete my first scarf since then and my daughter, who just returned from a trip to Peru, will have this to cherish for years to come! Thanks again...I'll be back. Fondly, The Lakeside Lady
Maybe, but I liked the dark blue on top of the white background....you can see the stitches very well! TYSM, God bless all here in Jesus’s Name, AMEN! 🕊❤️🙏💜✝️✡️🌹🙋♀️👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
So grateful to find this video! I've been desperate to add a border, but had no idea and I don't really enjoy "figuring it out" for this particular type of task. It was easy to understand, and I'm excited to put this to use!
Such clear instructions and images! THANK YOU!! I've been staring at my finished afghan for a month, trying to find easy to follow instructions so that I don't screw it up after all this work! :)
Thank God you added the C2C help in at the end, or I would have just attempted your DC advice around the whole thing -- and it's a king-sized blanket!!! LOL!! Your website is always my go-to. Love how you keep everything clean and precise. Your C2C tutorial is the best, I love that my blankets don't have tons of huge holes. Thank you!!
Wonderful explanations for each example. I've been doing this for 7 years and thought this was better than what I'd originally learned. Haha. Thank you!
Ooh, man, seeing the double crochet border feels so obvious now, but I've been struggling to figure out how do get a neat border for days 😂😂 this was the last thing I needed to figure out, now I'll just do one final swatch and then I can start on my baby blanket!!
Thank you. Great information. This really helps me figure out the best way to do a border. Yes, I have experience in crochet but this really helps me make my work prettier.
Thank you thank you thank you! First video I checked what should I do for a c2c baby blanket and you help me a lot. I'll save a lot of time using your advise.
I have made two c2c afghans and used the sc row around as the edging. It worked beautifully and just gave them a 'finished' look. Thank you for this video.
Thank you so much! I always have curly borders and didn’t know how to solve it. Finally, it’s simple just had to think about it. I restarted the borders I was just doing and it looks perfect! Thanks again!
I would love to see you do a "project" tutorial, not just a stitch tutorial, on C2C or maybe a "Pitfalls to avoid in C2C" like I've mentioned below. Yours in this video seems so perfect. I love the way you do the border in C2C, so much easier. My first c2c project was called "Covered In Cats Afghan". The problem I ran into was my project seemed to either get wider (sort of V shaped) when turned to the corner in towards you or if you even up the "L" shape if seems to appear to sag in the middle. I also noticed my row lines didn't seem to be even or line up. I have watched so many stitch tutorials but mine still seems to come out wrong. I cannot figure out what I'm doing wrong.
In my experience, a single crochet is a bit shorter than one stitch tall. This method works, perhaps, in mixed stitch rows, but not in large blankets made all in SC. In those projects I have found it necessary to use my math skills and figure out how many rows and stitches to an inch. Once that’s done, I calculate how many stitches I need to skip along the side and at what interval. This process is more tedious, but it keeps the side from stretching out.
Brilliant!! Made my first Corner to Corner (I usually knit) and was looking to make it look finished. This was perfect! And easy...my wrist needs easy😳...I'm almost done and it looks great...might not even go further and add more edge
First off- Thank-you! I did my first Corner to corner blanket and put a 1/2 DC edge all around, trying to keep it even and it turned out awful! Came across your video, and ripped it all back, I guess I should say “frogged” it, and used your technique. What a difference, so much nicer! Can you recommend a wider edge to go on top of that for a thicker border? Would you crochet into the chains if you added more? Or go around the two chains?
I use this exact method and yet i still have wrinked edges...can u guess what i am doing wrong? Also, do i use a smaller size hook for the edges than that used for the actual blanket? Thanks
Hi! I use the same size hook for the border. It's hard to say why yours is wrinkling without seeing it. You could always send a pic to support@hearthookhome.com and we can try to get it straightened out.
Hey Ashlea... I'm working on another slanted box stitch blanket and am having trouble figuring out where to place the first round of SC for the border. Would you handle that like you would a C2C blanket? Same stitch, just done in rows. I'll see if I can post a picture.
For a hdc how many stiches would you do per stitch? I know double you do 2, and single you do one... so hdc? New to this and struggling!! Thanks in advance
Hi! I do one in the side of the row, and then one in the turning chain from the next row. Since I only chain one when I do my hdc rows, this makes it look nice and clean. Hope that helps!
Omg I have been trying to figure this out for a week now before joining my squares for a baby blanket!! Thank you so much awesome video. Only question is.... do you know a trick to adding this to a square (or whatever project) if I have already fastened off and weaved in the ends?
good morning! thank you SO much for your wonderful videos I have watched at least 6 just drinking coffee this AM! My question is I have found my project for the day (your lemon peel!) how would I add the foundation chain boarder when finished? BTW THANK YOU for this I also needed to add it to a c2c I finished....which lead me to you originally! :)
Ashley, I loved your video but wanted to find out that after I do the sc border around when I come back to do another round do I sc into each of the ch 2's or am I putting 2 sc's into the ch 2 space?
Thank you Ashley for replying back!. I did wind up doing it into the stitches. Now to head for your shell border. I so much enjoy your tutorial. You explain things out so clearly.
hey, i just wanted to ask that in future videos that you go a little slower? Please and thank you. Because it was very difficult for me to keep up with the tutorial. But I did get the idea, i think... Lol! Well anyways, thanks for the helpful video!
Settings menu allows you to slow it down quite a bit if needed. Also, pause and rewind are available and helpful when learning. Not everyone's a beginner, I usually speed most videos up.

Great tutorial. Sometimes the start of a border can be very tricky. The detailed information here removes the confusion. Thanks for sharing.

Super tutorial! C2C borders have been giving me fits. This looks so much better and easier than what I have done in the past. Thanks for sharing!
Love how you do the C2C border. Going to take mine out and redo. It just makes sense! Thanks!! So glad I found you!
I was thinking about taking mine out as well and redoing it.

So glad I came across this video. Sometimes it's best to use others suggestions to make it look even better. This help a whole lot. Thanks
Fantastic tutorial, especially the border to border part! Thank you for sharing.
Thank you so much for this clear and concise demonstration, especially the white corner to corner which is what I've just made :-}

Brilliant!! Never had an easy time to get same number of stitches on each side and looked lumpy. Thank you so very much for this video.
Glad it helped!
I needed a good border for my c2c blanket. This just made so much sense. Now I can put a pretty border on the blanket! Thank you so much.
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you for the C2C… I always have a heck of a time doing a boarder

FINALLY! GREAT EXPLANATION AS WELL AS COVERED SINGLE..SINGLY & DOUBLE SINGLY WITH THE ADDED BONUS OF THE BLOCKED BLOCKED ..YOU ROCK!
:-D
That’s so smart idea definitely i’ll try it for my c2c blanket after i finish it👍🏼👍🏼 thanks for the tutorial🥰🌹💜
Thank you for the easier edging on C2C. It looks a lot neater. 😊
Thank you so much for the tutorial and advice! I absolutely appreciat it!
Very nice idea. It makes it all look neater
Can't thank you enough for this video, especially the C2C technique!! Works great!!! Thank you!!
Thank you so much! I always have curly borders and didn’t know how to solve it. Finally, it’s simple just had to think about it. I restarted the borders I was just doing and it looks perfect! Thanks again!
I'm so glad!
Thank you for explaining the single crochet turns. I will be applying this for my single crochet baby blanket.
Love the explanation! It's so clear and simple. :D Thank you!

Excellent, takes the guess work out for me!
Would you mind doing a tutorial on how to put a border on a granny square blanket?
Very easy to follow. Thanks for sharing!
You're welcome!
@@HeartHookHome I tried and it worked very well and looks very pretty and finished. Thanks!
Thanks for teaching me!
Thanks.This was so helpful.
Thank you very much for your help with this. It's a life, well -- a scarf saver! 👍🏽🙂
Could you share the pattern for the white blanket?
It's just C2C. hearthookhome.com/how-to-crochet-a-corner-to-corner-c2c-throw/

Great explanation and demo! I’m hoping to find how many stitches for a half double crochet.
I usually do 1 stitch per hdc side...sometimes 2.
@@HeartHookHome Thank you!
Do you recommend the C2C for a blanket with basket design? I am beginner, and used double single crochet to do the blanket.
Love the white yarns.
I am new at crocheting. What pattern was use to make the blanket? I love the border pattern!
Excellent tutorial!
Wonderful tutorial! So for the C2C border, when going back around, would you place stitches in the ch 2 spaces or in the chains themselves?
I’m trying to figure this out too 😞
You can go around or into, whichever you think looks best.
I can't see a dern thing the yarn is so dark.. lolok I came back to it and the yellow and white was better! It looked super neat!!!
Great explanation! Thank you 🙏
Thanks for sharing! This was incredibly helpful!
You're welcome. Glad it helped : )
How would you count a half double?
I am working on a 3d dc stitch how would I do the same border method you did at the end?
Do you have the tutorial for the blanket I love the pattern?
I do : ) hearthookhome.com/how-to-crochet-a-corner-to-corner-c2c-throw/

Thank you! This was very helpful ❤
In the corners, can you also do a sc, ch 1, sc? To make the corner more visible?
Sure you can!
This is such a great idea. I dont like the look of the border clawing into the original piece. Clean lines for the win. 🙌
Thank You!
Hey I'm making a baby blanket of double crochet and my width is 37 and how many rows do I have to do to make 37 the length of the blanket
You'll either need to figure out the height of the stitch and figure it out that way or just keep crocheting until it reaches 37".
Hey Ashlea... I'm working on another slanted box stitch blanket and am having trouble figuring out where to place the first round of SC for the border. Would you handle that like you would a C2C blanket? Same stitch, just done in rows. I'll see if I can post a picture.

I was also wondering this, thank you! It will be a fun challenge with Lion Brand Homespun yarn tho. :P
But, what if you ch2 before you turn? How many sc per row then? Im super confused and cant find an answer ANYWHERE!!!
@@tinamccartney3778 I also only chain one for my hdc, but if you chain two I would assume that you'd treat it like a dc.
Katrina S. Thanks. Since then, I have started using a ch 1 with my hdc as well. Does make it look cleaner.

Nicely done. Closer camera view would be good.
Well said and thank you for sharing.
Luv yah 💕
Thank you.
So hard to see the darker colour yarn. So much easier to see the stitches in the yellow one.
I agree but the video is an excellent explanation.
The white (on white) was also sort of difficult to see.
Awesome video. You explain so well thank you.
How’s about a bit slower or less caffeine
Thank u so muchx
Love this video tip. My question is: if i do 2sc in each corner, when i go back to do all sc, do i put 2 sc in each sc of corner?
Hi! Yes you'll continue putting extra stitches in each corner every round.
Can u do a border on shell st..?
Yes you can.
