Hi Tammy it's January 1st 2022 I just want to let you I love this video. I'm making some wild rice for my first time in my new instant pot that I got for Christmas. your sweater you have on is so gorgeous it looks wonderful in the video 📸 thank for teaching the very basic and easy to follow
Hi...I just found your channel through Chef AJ. She mentioned your blog on her Weight Loss Wednesday video. I have watched a few of your videos so far and your information is great!! I’m glad I found you. I really like your video on your plant based batch cooking....thank you so much for the motivation 🤗👍🏼❤️
TattyRee I’m glad you are enjoying the videos! I have a lot more information and recipes on my blog - be sure to check it out and subscribe if you like what you see!
Nutmeg Notebook I checked out your blog to get the vegan cheese sauce which I can’t wait try!! And I subscribed to your channel...I’m looking forward to whatever videos you put out in the future 🙂
Wow you read my mind. I was looking for wild rice in the instant pot earlier today! Thanks! Is there some way to have closed captions on your videos for those of us who have hearing problems?
Does it take 40 minutes usually to cook wild rice on the stove top though? I’ve never seen rice take so long to cook before, but then again, I have never made my own wild rice… I’ve only ever made Uncle Ben’s wild rice, which is *super delicious* (but I try to not look at the ingredients list with the unpronounceable stuff lol). I wish you had recommended how to make wild rice taste as close to that as possible. :) I love adding diced celery to already cooked Uncle Ben’s wild rice. So yummy, and gives it a great texture.
Wild rice is so good! Do you buy it at Whole Foods instead of Trader Joe's, because tj's wild rice is not organic? I don't have whole foods or tj's here, so I buy organic lundberg online, but the packages are 8oz for $6. How much does Whole Foods sell it for in the bulk bins?
I do buy the Organic wild rice from Whole Foods and I don't remember how much it is a pound but I know it was cheaper from the bulk bins than from buying it prepackaged.
Yes, we typically do rinse it, we also rinse brown rice before cooking it. we always buy organic but rinsing is always a good idea. thank you for asking, - good question!
Thank you so much for you kind comment. Sometimes Costco has sets of these glass storage containers. They are also available on Amazon - this is my affiliate link www.amazon.com/dp/B011L4Q15Q/?tag=aiponsite-20&linkCode=ic5&ascsubtag=amzn1.idea.STH2I8W18VLB&creativeASIN=B011L4Q15Q&ref=exp_nutmegnotebook_lv_dp_vv_d

Hi, what's the rice water ratio? I don't want to cook a whole pound at once. Your rice looks the way I like it but I cant never achieve it and its because I wasn't doing the pressure release right away!! Haha. Thanks for the video 💜
When your wild rice was done cooking - did you manually release the pressure immediately? Or did you let it sit for a while? Thanks Tami! Debbie in WA Ü
Thank you so much - glad you liked it. Thank for you watching. If you haven't subscribed yet please do and be sure to visit the blog and subscribe there too. www.nutmegnotebook.com
Hi Tami. I bought wild rice on line and mine is a different color than the one in your video. It’s the uncultivated kind. Do you think the water ratio would still be the same? I’d hate to waste it if it didn’t work out😬
Oooh, great tips, thanks Tami! Quick question - where do you get your artichoke hearts? I can't get salt/oil free in my dinky town, but a nearby city has a Trader Joe's and a Whole Foods.
I thought all beans should be soaked overnight to release the harmful stuff, then cook it in the pressure pot or whatever method you choose. Not sure about it. Any input about that?
I never soak my beans - that just takes too much planning for me! I don't know if it really makes a difference in the amount of gas they create or not. If you prefer to soak them that's great - it's just personal preference. Be sure to subscribe to the blog so you won't miss any future posts or recipes. www.nutmegnotebook.com
I don't know how many cups - I buy it by the pound so I have never measured it. If you google it you might be able to find the answer! If you haven't already be sure to subscribe to the blog at www.nutmegnotebook.com
I do'n't know that answer to that because I always cook a pound. You might try just cutting the recipe in half and see how that works. If there is too much water then drain it off.
It doesnt need any as I will be using it in different ways. For instance I will add it to some creamy soups or use in a veggie burger recipes or as a side dish. I can add seasoning or sauce or vingear to it depending on what flavor profile I want.
Below is a copy paste of suggested times from the instant pot web site, Pressure cooking times (in minutes) for some common varieties of rice: White rice: 3-8 Basmati (white) rice: 4-8 Brown rice (long/short): 22-28 Wild rice mix: 25-30 The wild rice we are buying locally seems to have just the right texture and flavor at 40 minutes. brown rice seems to come out with a nice texture at about 20 minutes, Our long grain wild rice is not a mix so takes a bit longer to completely hydrate but not get mushy. thank you for asking.
I am an Ojibwe woman. This sound be .called paddy wild rice or not wild rice. REAL wild rice does NOT look like this. I can sell you some REAL MN Anishinaabe manoomin or wild rice. The taste is 10,000% better than this hard gross stuff.
I'm so glad I found your page!!!!!!! Love Love Love
Thank you for watching, we hope you enjoy exploring our channel!
Your tip for the plumbing angle to aim the steam where you want it to go is genius!!!
It wasn't my idea - I saw it on someone elses video but now I can't remember who it was! It does work well!

I don’t have multigrain on my IP! Which setting should I use to cook wild rice? Thank you!
Wow you read my mind. I was looking for wild rice in the instant pot earlier today! Thanks!

I will have to ask my husband - he does all the video editing. We will see what we can do.

Hello I wanted to put one measuring cup of wild rice in the insta pot. How many cups of water should I add? :)
I don’t have multi grain setting on my Instant-pot, if using the pressure cooking setting on (? High) for 40 minutes the same ?
Don't have a multi grain setting on my 3qt IP. What to do????
same, i cooked mine for 40 min and it was perfect. I also added some herbs, butter, salt, pepper before cooking.
Try brown rice setting
Do you need to wash wild rice before using? Thanks for another great video!

Debbie I am usually busy when the rice gets done so I let the pressure come down naturally.
Thanks Tami ~ I'm still getting the hang of our IP :)

I really don't know - have your tried doing a search on line to find out?
How would I cook the box wild rice in pressure cooker
I have no idea - I don't know how much it weighs - maybe google it and see what you can find.
Oooh, great tips, thanks Tami!
Quick question - where do you get your artichoke hearts? I can't get salt/oil free in my dinky town, but a nearby city has a Trader Joe's and a Whole Foods.
Trader Joe's does have frozen artichoke hearts - that's where I get mine.
Thanks Tami!

So the water to rice ratio is 2-1?
So you didn't use natural pressure release?
That's correct.
What is one pound ? How many cups ? :-/ this did not help me
I don't know how many cups - I buy it by the pound so I have never measured it. If you google it you might be able to find the answer! If you haven't already be sure to subscribe to the blog at www.nutmegnotebook.com
1 pound of wild rice converted to U.S. cups equals 2.45 cups (dry, uncooked)
So sad, bulk bins don't exist anymore:(
what are the amounts in cups/rice ratio if you are not cooking a pound?
I do'n't know that answer to that because I always cook a pound. You might try just cutting the recipe in half and see how that works. If there is too much water then drain it off.
@@NutmegNotebook thanks
Where is the seasoning?

U never answered folks question, regarding rice 2 water ratio??
Why do 40 minutes when you can do 10 on high? 😯
This method works well for me - it's the only way I have tried and it works.
Below is a copy paste of suggested times from the instant pot web site, Pressure cooking times (in minutes) for some common varieties of rice:
White rice: 3-8
Basmati (white) rice: 4-8
