  • INSTANT POT GARLIC MASHED POTATOES
    Delicious and Healthy Vegan Garlic Mashed Potatoes in the Instant Pot pressure cooker. Just a few ingredients and 4 minutes on high pressure and you have fabulous garlicky mashed potatoes, no draining the pot, mash right in the pot and let it keep them warm until you are ready to serve them up!
    Mashed potatoes are so easy in the Instant Pot pressure cooker. You cook, mash and keep them warm all in the Instant Pot. No draining water off either and the taste - nothing short of fabulous! Now you will make mashed potatoes all the time not just at the holidays. Skin on or off? I like the soft thin skins of the Yukon Gold potatoes left on but if you prefer go ahead and peel them!

    Tnx Tami, love your vids..i just did mashed potatoes, carrots, turnip, garlic , onion, and handfuls of chopped kale in mine. Just 1 cut water , which i find is enough, the way hubby and i like them, yummy. We are eating so much potato lately, me since about Sept. and him more recently, since the dr. suggested to him, "why not try eating like she is" !! I have lost 51 lbs since March 23rd. and he has just lost 20 lbs.. We all know, it is more easy for men to lose it than us females, especially us older ones, :))) i am 66, he is 58 :))

    These were fantastic. I used a little salt because I can't get the Table Tasty in NZ, but the vegetable broth gave a fantastic flavor to the potatoes. I was never sure whether I needed to drain the broth/water, and your video cleared that up for me. My husband will be so happy -- mashed potatoes are his favorite food!

    I'm heading to the kitchen and have everything except the Amond milk. Just wondering the difference in taste from whole milk and almond milk and for that matter any other milk, for example, 2 percent, fat-free, etc.?

      Regular milk is fine to use. Tami doesn't eat animal products that is why she used almond milk.

    Better to switch off the warm mode before mashing. No?

    • @NutmegNotebook
      @NutmegNotebook  6 років тому +1

      I don't feel the need to do so - it keeps them nice and warm during and after the mashing and keeps them warm until ready to serve.

    HOLY SHIT THE LID FITS IN THE HOLE?! I DIDNT KNOW THAT!
    Also I don't know why you need stock in your mash... i usually do just ... boil em, take em out, and mash em! :) (salt/pepper/garlic too).
    BUT HOLY WOW! The lid... ok hold up I'm gonna go try it right now. (man i felt like I needed a pit crew to unload that huge thing)
    HMMM.... seems like it fits, but it doesn't seem designed for that feature. Nevertheless, this is a life pro tip, thank you thank you!

    If you save all your ends and peels of vegetables, but not broccoli or cabbage, then freeze until you hace enough, you can boil it all up and make your own, salt free, oil free veg stock. Roast the veg first for a better flavour. Waste not want not, plus you have beautiful tasting stock for all your dishes

    • @NutmegNotebook

    If you double this recipe or in my case use 5 pounds of potatoes which do fit in my instant pot should I use 2 cups of broth or just stick to one?

    • @NutmegNotebook
      @NutmegNotebook  5 років тому

      The broth becomes part of your liquid for mashing and you don't drain it so yes I would double the broth. I have not doubled the recipe myself so I don't have first hand experience at doubling it.

    • @NayNay-zm5ln
      @NayNay-zm5ln 5 років тому +2

      I doubled this but 2 cups was too much broth...... I didn’t like the consistency.....I also added more garlic (16 cloves in total..... I love garlic😊), and no one could taste the garlic. I also did not add any milk because it would have been potato soup. I’ll try it again and update everyone. Nutmeg Notebook thank you for all you do. I ordered your Mexican series. I will watch it this week😘

      @@NutmegNotebook ohh sorry I didn't see that it was vegan. I have a son who is allergic to cow dairy so I am always challenged to make his favorite foods taste like they used to. Plant based sour cream has been the best thing ever because I am able to make cream of chicken type of soup to use in my recipes. thank you for the info
