I'm so glad I found your channel. I'm really-really-really old. I live by myself and cook my own meals - no processed food - nothing from a can or box. I just got my Instant Pot today, June 22, 2020 so yeah, I need your channel. Thanks so much.
Thank god! No music while talking. Thank you so much for listening to your viewers. I’ve just ordered an I.P. And have been trying to watch and learn what I can before it gets here next week. I did subscribe to your channel but now will enjoy it so much more. xx
I made a main dish as my first dish with the instant pot (well Yeti) and promptly fell in love with it. It hasn't failed me yet. I love it. It's wonderful.
Love this video. OneNote from an electrician though. If an extension cord has an impact on your cook time, the cord wires are too small. This is bad for the appliance, and it is potentially a safety hazard. Big box (Lowe’s, HomeDepot, etc) or hardware stores sell a variety of cords in different gages. Also the longer the cord, the heavier gage it needs to be.
I burned out 3 expensive 55 cup coffee pots before knowing not to put it on an extension cord. Get a designated extension cord specifically for small appliances.

Prefer without for sure. Thanks for all the tips. I’m obsessed with mine now and so far I made eggs (was my first) and I made tortilla soup. Tortilla soup was AMAZING!
I do like it without music while you're talking you have a beautiful voice and great information that needs to be listened to. Music is quite OK before and after :-)
You've only been on 3 weeks?! You are such a pro! I love your presentation style and voice. I prefer no or very low background noise because sometimes it's very distracting. Keep the great content coming and thank you😁
The spoon/ladels that come with most instant pots with the "standard" release valves actually fit onto the release valve - use the handle end where there's a hole for hanging the utensil, it should pretty much fit on perfectly 👍🏻
If you’re that afraid, let it sit for a while. It doesn’t have to be quick released. I’ve always used my finger & have NEVER burned myself. All you have to do is touch the the little protruding thingy and move it with the slightest twitch of your finger. If your big enough to cook, then your big enough to bend your finger.
So much better to hear you without music. My hearing isn’t great and the music, for me, really got in the way of hearing your fantastic tips! Thank you for listening to us! This video was fantastic and I appreciate you. Thank you 🙏
Excellent tips. Even those of us who have been cooking for years can learn a thing or two from your video. As far as the music goes: This is the first video of yours that I've watched, so I can't compare with/without for yours, but I usually find that music with an instructional video distracts rather than enhances.
I haven't done that with my instant pot ....BUT I HAVE done it with hot liquid in a blender--what a mess on the ceiling, walls, floor, me....I just assumed that it would be the same issue with the instant pot so I have been careful. And yes ,you are a great presenter! Thank you!

Hey, just wanted to make the comment that my husband who fixes furnaces heard your last tip, and he said that your problem is likely that you're using an extension cord with too small of a gauge. A heavy-duty extension cord should fix the problem. Doesn't have to be longer, just a thicker gauge.
In your research, read the manual, including "troubleshooting". Also, check the picture of your IP to make certain you have all its parts. Another thing, when buying a cookbook, it’s nice if it has Instant Pots approval label.
Best video if you are thinking of buying an instapot and want to learn about it. The no music was perfect. Most of the time I find music distracting. Also thank you for using your natural perfect voice. I think that fake gravelly voice that some people have adopted is like nails on a chalkboard so thank you for not doing that. You have an amazing voice. You would be great as a voiceover artist
A must-watch for new owners like me. Thank you! One question about your instructions to not use milk as the liquid in a recipe. Does this mean when the only liquid is milk? I used a mixture of liquids that included milk and cream (didn't have half/half) to make risotto and had no problems with the results (in fact it was perfect). How much milk is too much milk? As for music/no music. I vote for no music.
Thank you! I like the presentation without music. I am a very experienced instant pot user so I knew most of what you presented. I admit I didn’t know that the slow cooking function cooks at a lower temp than a regular crock pot. I’ve not ever used that function as I like my slow cooked food in stone ware. I always leave my instant pot on the back burner of my glass top stove. It never occurred to me someone could turn on the burner. It’s just my husband and me, so that’s not going to happen. I like the convenience of the exhaust fan right above the pot when I release pressure. Just make sure when you release pressure you don’t direct the steam at the light bulbs. I never had an issue in my house, but I once broke the bulbs in my son’s house. Nice presentation!
@@philso7872 I use a glass plate from a microwave that I got at a thrift store, which has them every once in a while. I was lucky enough to get a round one that exactly fits under the Instant Pot. Did this because using the IP directly on the counter discolored the counter top.

No music is always appreciated because it more often than not is distracting. I've never used an instant pot, and now that you have totally exhausted me with the don't s, I've made one note for myself. Don't buy and instant pot. Grin. Great video....
I prefer that the music does not play while you're speaking. Music is a nice filler for the transitions between topics, but is a distraction while you speak. I really appreciate your interesting and informative videos.
I guess the third time is a charm....lol, I think it could be easily forgotten, if stored as suggested, it should be the first thing you put together on the lid.
I did it once when I tried to cook meatball pasta. But to my surprise the pasta turned out fine! Not sure if I damaged the pot though....it happened last month and so far my instant pot is still working. I will keep my fingers crossed!
@@yujuti8416 I don't think you damaged anything, it just prevents the pot from building up pressure and then pressure cooking. if you were using it as a slow cooker it should not have made any difference.
Great tips; thank you! I prefer either no music while you're talking, or very LOW music. Most UA-camrs put their music on too loud or use music that is really irritating...which is very distracting.
@@thelast1090 Pressure Luck Cooking has some great instant pot recipes on youtube and his website as well as a cooking book. I would also recommend Sam The Cooking Guy youtube for some more general recipes. Keep looking around.
Quick note: if you are having problems with an extension cord,. you are likely using a cheap (lamp) extension. If you have an industrial grade extension (15-20A. like used for power tools), It should be fine. Hard to find one 6 ft or shorter, but I have one. I haven't tried it with the pot, because I have no need. And it's busy extending my microwave oven ;)
Thank you so much for your informative videos. I do like your presentation without music. A lot of us already have background noise in our homes that our ears have to filter out, anyway, so the lack of music helps us concentrate on what you have to say.
You must not have read the manual. Unfortunately, with UA-cam, people are losing the ability to read. I saw a video the other day and 97% of the comments said what a great video it was, yatta, yatta. Most of them didn’t even realize she was missing parts of her Instant Pot! But "it was great...". Obviously the lady who made the video didn’t read her manual either!
Thank you for these videos Lisa!!! I've had mine for quite some time and I have not started really using it at all. Your videos, tutorials, and recipes are helping me ease into it! Thank you so much and please keep doing what you do!
I have been using my instant pot for probably 5 years, and I still learned so many things from this video!!! Thank you! (Btw- I much prefer instructional videos without music. My ADHD kicks in, along with a little nerve deafness, and I either can’t concentrate on what is being said because of the music, or I can’t distinguish the speech from the music. You did a great job without the added distraction, you are a very good presenter.)
You. Are. Amazing. Just discovered you. I have my first instant pot being delivered as I speak and I'm so excited! But also pretty intimidated. This was a really informative video to watch and I really appreciate it
The Instant Pot Duo Nova has an automatic sealing knob that seals the pot when the lid is fully locked in place, and you push down on the sealing knob to vent with quick release. I strongly agree with your tip to only cook basic things in the Instant Pot when you are a beginner.
Thank you for making this comment. I had no idea what she was talking about because I always just press the button. I panicked because I thought I was doing it wrong this whole time Until I saw your comment and realized my Instantpot isn’t like hers

This is so helpful as I have a Phillips All in One pressure cooker instead.Good to know about correct storage and the dairy products in pressure cooking. So true about cook times as yes it needs extra time to heat up etc.Thankyou so much!😁
I didn't take mine out of the box for at least a month bkz I'd heard so many stories of wasted food and just not knowing how to use the thing. Do open it!!! After only a few attempts, you'll kick yourself for waiting so long. Definitely stay tuned to this lady and also look at pressureluckcooking.com -- his recipes always come out great.
Appreciate this...another reason to not have music is some of us listen to the video speeded up (I am back to review). Music makes it hard to do that. Time is the most valuable of all things.
I didn't think I would learn this many tips. When you mentioned cleaning the water drip catcher I was like, "omg i forgot to clean it yesterday!" thank you!
Yes on “ NO music !” I stop watchhg so many things only bc music annoys me! This is my first video of yours and I really like it- you’re sincere , seem honest ( vs hearing people who obviously are compensated by a company )
I absolutely love you! omgosh you have no idea what a help this video was to me. I just bought my first instant pot and I was so excited which quickly turned to so nervous and unsure of what the heck I was doing. You have given me just a little bit of confidence to get me started and master this thing. Because of your advice I put off making a full meal my first time out and tomorrow I will play around with it by making eggs or potatoes to get the hang of it and hopefully be able to make a dinner later in the day. Any advice on what meal to make first time out? (btw I can't have any carbs - rice, potatoes, pasta - or sugars) Thank you for sharing this video and I can't wait to watch the others. p.s. you could play elevator music for all I care - your info is such a huge help I could watch it no matter what was playing. But I do agree with a comment below that your voice is very inviting and friendly. It's like hanging out with the girls. :0)
This was so helpful for this brand-new Instant Pot user. I didn't even take mine out of its box for well over a year after purchasing it, as I was intimidated by it! (Nice to find out I wasn't alone in that.) I'm studying up on how to properly use it before I cook my first meal in it this week.

No music!! FINALLY!! Good job! Excellent video. I was actually doing many of these don't do's so I really appreciate this video. I am trying to be an instant pot master and this video helped me a lot!
I honestly have so many questions cause I got an Instant pot as an early christmas present yesterday and I like to research my new gadgets (I use alot for cooking lol) 1) if the food is undercooked, how long would you recommend putting it back on? 2) what do i do if the volcano affect happens during the pressure release? 3) if the recipe has dairy, should i use broth or water instead? 4) what's the difference between the natural release and quick release?
Thanks so much Lisa, I have used a conventional pressure cooker for many many years and quite a few of your 26 x "DO NOT's" are common sense practices from using a conventional pressure cooker any way but nice to be reminded of the extra things to consider when using the Instant Pot Duo. Loving your awesome recipes, already liked the video and subscribed to your channel! Have just moved into a new apartment and just using the 5.7 litre Instant Pot Duo and the 5.7 litre Instant Pot Vortex Air Fryer, and I'm now thinking I do not even need a conventional cooker any more, especially after discovering the saute function.

2.) And... I DON'T AGREE with removing seal ring every time. That will cause the ring to stretch out and/or wear out way TOO SOON! 😖

No music is always appreciated because it more often than not is distracting. I've never used an instant pot, and now that you have totally exhausted me with the don't s, I've made one note for myself. Don't buy and instant pot. Grin. Great video....
Thanks so much for the helpful video Lisa! I was scared of making mistakes as a beginner, but this video covers so much!
Mine arrives tomorrow! #1 about not putting it on glass stovetop is really good to know. Thank you for all of your tips!
Great info thank you & no music please . Many thanks ❤
Thank you for being quick and to the point! You were my 4th video search! Glad I found your video
No music is good! Thank you for the 26 tips!! I’m new to your channel n new to using my insta pot.
I prefer that the music does not play while you're speaking. Music is a nice filler for the transitions between topics, but is a distraction while you speak. I really appreciate your interesting and informative videos.
Here is another DON'T : Don't use the Instant Pot without putting the sealing ring on!!! (Yep, I did it...twice!)
I did it once. It’s because I always take the ring out after use to wash it & hang dry it. Amazingly, the food was actually STEAM cooked.
LOL
Great tips; thank you! I prefer either no music while you're talking, or very LOW music. Most UA-camrs put their music on too loud or use music that is really irritating...which is very distracting.
No music is better while you're speaking👍
Thank a lot for your video,it's fantastic, better than the manual book you explain it so well now I am not scared to use it,I feel confident.
For anyone that wants to know what dish to start with, the answer is beef stew. NOTHING makes beef stew better than the instant pot.
is there any good web page for recepies like that? :] really want to do beef stew right now :D:D
@@thelast1090 Pressure Luck Cooking has some great instant pot recipes on youtube and his website as well as a cooking book. I would also recommend Sam The Cooking Guy youtube for some more general recipes. Keep looking around.
Chili is a great one too! It was the first meal I made and I knew I made the right choice getting it.
Is that pot roast?
Or whatever they want
Quick note: if you are having problems with an extension cord,. you are likely using a cheap (lamp) extension. If you have an industrial grade extension (15-20A. like used for power tools), It should be fine. Hard to find one 6 ft or shorter, but I have one. I haven't tried it with the pot, because I have no need. And it's busy extending my microwave oven ;)
Good job, you are very clear and concise. I appreciate it that you aren't distracting us with music and extra chat.
Great tips since I’m new to this instant pot and learning!
Thank you so much for your informative videos. I do like your presentation without music. A lot of us already have background noise in our homes that our ears have to filter out, anyway, so the lack of music helps us concentrate on what you have to say.
Nancy Clay very well said.
Great videos. Thanks! No music
🙂
#7 was an AWESOME TIP!!
Who wouldve thought....
Just turn the lid UPSIDE DOWN....
Duh 🤦🏻♀️
GLAD YOU DID!! 🙌🏻
No music!! Thank you. I have a hard time hearing the words when there is back ground music. Love this channel!!!
😬 I made Broccoli-Chedder Soup for my first try....came out amazing
i DID NOT know about the condensation collecor. lol its still sitting in the box. never used that thing till i saw this video
How does it come off?
@@kathy32850 it slides towards you. Not down.
I never use it and still won’t
This was much better without the background music.
You. Are. Amazing. Just discovered you. I have my first instant pot being delivered as I speak and I'm so excited! But also pretty intimidated. This was a really informative video to watch and I really appreciate it
thank you so much that helps a lot. and no music is good because you have a beautiful voice....
What kind of crazy person dislikes this video? it is straight to the point solid information presented as clear as possible
Your voice is like Music to my ears 😍 i’m working on my english and Watch your videos without music is the best way to understand you. Thank you so much
No music. Like: How to store the ring etc.
No music, please! Thank you for the great tips!
Definitely no music. It’s okay for an intro/outro but it is SUCH a “UA-cam cliche” to keep it going for the entire video.
Cliche?
This is so helpful as I have a Phillips All in One pressure cooker instead.Good to know about correct storage and the dairy products in pressure cooking. So true about cook times as yes it needs extra time to heat up etc.Thankyou so much!😁
I didn't think I'd get any useful tips from this but I did! Actually my pot is still in its packaging... Yet to open! 🙈🤭
Thanks for the 26 great tips! All the best with your new channel.
Appreciate this...another reason to not have music is some of us listen to the video speeded up (I am back to review). Music makes it hard to do that. Time is the most valuable of all things.
I need these videos! I’ve had my instant pot for a year now and I’m terrified to use it! Thank you for SHARING!!!!
Are you a child??
@@dixieboy5689 No or else I wouldn’t have one. Clearly. I just hear terrifying stories from a lot of people. Who are also adults. LoL
Don’t be afraid to use it. I’ve been using this pressure cooker for over 4 years and never had any issues. It certainly saves a lot of time.
It's really easy. I was scared too but tried simple recipes and worked great.
This video is awesome! Thank you SOOOO much for sharing!🥰
Hello how are you doing today ❤️
Great video, Lisa! I had many people request no music in my videos as well. And tip #27 don’t be scared of your Instant Pot. :)
Im scared after this! 😂
Wish I'd seen this before I made potato soup and sprayed it all over my kitchen.
Hi Linda from Vancouver Island.
Your Tutorials are excellent. You are talented, helpful, caring, knowledgable and so sweet. Appreciate your videos very much. Thank you!
I made my whole thanksgiving dinner the first time I used it haha
No music!! FINALLY!! Good job! Excellent video. I was actually doing many of these don't do's so I really appreciate this video. I am trying to be an instant pot master and this video helped me a lot!
Just bought my first Instant Pot LUX, so you're helping me out a lot !! My late wife used to handle things like this, but she had patience 😊
Try a cord with thicker wires inside it and you might find it helps, less resistance in the wire. Great video.
The provided cord is a cruel joke , buy a higher gauge and longer one at the hardware home store
@@michaeltaylors2456 They're short for a reason.
@@mjt1517 Higher profit for the manufacturer. The shortness, or cheapness of it is sold to the gullible as a safety feature
Don’t use an extension cord period! Very unsafe and is right in the user manual. It’s a fire hazard and an accident hazard. Just don’t !
As long as the current rating is the same or higher than the supplied cord, there should be no problem.
Same with electric space heaters.
I honestly have so many questions cause I got an Instant pot as an early christmas present yesterday and I like to research my new gadgets (I use alot for cooking lol)
1) if the food is undercooked, how long would you recommend putting it back on?
Please does the pressure cooker reduce smell when cooking?
I thought I was Instant Pot savvy. BUT I learned SO MUCH from this! Thank you :)
