Raul Renteria SO TRUE!!! THESE GUYS WERE SO RIDICULOUSLY GOOD, I STILL HAVE THIS ALBUM ON VINYL, AND OUT OF MY 3,000 OR SO VINYL ALBUMS, THIS IS ONE OF MY TOP 20 FAVORITE ONES!!!
It's incredible! There's accord that, Breathe must be one of the most underrrated band of 80's. Great class and quality. Good looking, all members too.
And David Glasper has hit a rough patch in the last10 years also. He has a UA-cam channel but I have seen anything new recently. Ian Spice aka Spike the drummer died in an accident (vehicular)
First heard this song Spring 1989 @ age 17. I had already fallen in love with “Hands to Heaven” and “How Can I Fall”...needing no further convincing; I went out and bought “All That Jazz”. I still have the cassette someplace. These tunes are timeless!
Like most 80’s teenagers, there were songs that just touch your soul with a memory from that decade. Don’t Tell Me Lies from Breath is one such song for me. When I hear this song, I can brush the cobwebs away from memories and remember what those years meant to me. Thank you Breath for a song that lights the ‘80s in my soul.
Brilliant band,I saw them live supporting Belinda Carlisle in St.Austell,Cornwall. Bought the cassette (great days!) the following day as was I so impressed. Dave Glasper had an excellent voice and I still listen to them today. It was a shame it was such a short lived career of only two albums and would love to see a reunion. Thank you guys for the joy you bring to my ears 😊

i may have been born in 1980 but the group breathe is one of my favorite groups of the 80's, everyone in this group should have got credit for song writing...breathe you guys are one of the best british groups i enjoy listening to.
Ummm why not, Still plays on radio around the world, And music video still gets played on 80's music channels etc And you never bought thesingle or the hit album it came off of: All That Jazz?
Amazing voice...I Loved this group from the moment they showed up in the 80s...They all had such gorgeous hair too ;) Wish they were still around! Every one of their songs is Great!!!
As a heavy metal/rock lover of the 1980's, I'm sure not ashamed to admit that I bought this CD when It first came out. Great music is great music no matter the genre!!
Followed Breathe from the start. Got to know them as my brother used to work with Michael's brother Miles. Purchased signed 12'' vinyl copies from the old HMV in Guildford...and still have them! Then they made it with Hands to Heaven, I was made up, but sad as Michael had left.
Me! I thought this group was great back then . Still got my copy of their lp in my old record collection. They could have been bigger given the chance.
Great song and very underrated group from the 80's. Wish they lasted longer. Funny thing is I've never seen this version of the video only the secondary one. Of all their hits this was my top favorite.
80s was the best decade - music (great artists like Breathe, Johnny Hates Jazz, Mr. Mister, Toto, Simply Red, Tears for Fears, etc), TV shows, movies, clothes (well some of them. lol) and growing up as a kid. Nostalgia at its finest..... 🥲

This must have been the British video. Another video for this song was played in the United States, and both of these videos...along with the song, is very entertaining. I remember when this song was on the radio back in the 80's. I loved it then...and I love it now.
I'd forgotten this song until just hearing it now GREAT! I really want everything Breathe recorded, but I don't think they did more than two or three maybe one is CD only? They don't turn up at all and it's a shame because their music is really good. Glasper has a beautiful voice and Breathe deserve to be listened to and not overlooked.
I literally had this song stuck in my head for decades and had no idea who it was. Then out of impulse, hummed the harmony into my phone and it led me here! Holy shite! 😄
From point 2019 way back to 1985 I must admit that Breathe has reached to that time a very high quality skill of Songwriting and Producing... sad that the Band couldn't (and you all didn't) go any further in Music than 1992.. wondering what you could have given to the world :-(
This album all that jazz has been in my vehicle since I could drive in the early 90s. Thanks mom for jamming to this in the rides to muv and papas as a kid. This whole album is a gem...rest easy Ian Spice.
I think I loved his seeming reluctance to be the center of attention. His face always looked a bit grumpy whenever they stuck the camera in his face. And I found it just adorable.
There's something I like about this one as well. I do wish their videos had been more theatrical though. This groups success was cut wayyyy tooooo short. Amazing vocals by David....to this day, an anIng voice with range and still extremely one of the sexiest rockers!! Grrrrr🔥❤️
Not every musical act could afford top tier talent to direct their music videos. Also, a lot of why the band’s success waned is because their American record label had been bought out by Polygram Records and usually that causes record labels to lose interest in some of the acts that had been signed under the previous regime. Also, Marcus Lillington has said the band was starting to disintegrate and lose interest in working together during the recording of the second album.

YES. It was the definite turning of a page and pop/rock music has never been the same since. In a very real sense, today's artists are still rehashing and making improvements on 1980's music but it's still 80's musical forms, styles and techniques underneath it all. TO THIS DAY. Almost makes those of us who were teenagers or twenty-somethings in the 80's be in the same category as those who were growing up when the airplane, the automobile, radio or TV were invented.
This is great! I didn't know there was a video lensed for this song that far back! I prefer the 1989 version, but this is good as well! Thank you so much for posting, Mr. Delahunty! :)
I stumbled across this because I was looking up Breathe's discography on Wikipedia. Never knew they did this even though I hum it every now and again. I must remember it from a reasonable amount of radio air play back then because it only peaked at 45 on re- release in 1989.
I can remember the song whereas I never seen this video of the group singing it in a video in the past years. This song really reached my heart about how relationships could be built on nothing but lies.
That’s because this music video came from when this single was first released as a single in Britain in 1985 when they were virtually unknown anywhere and it totally flopped there.
Dang, this originally came out in late '85?? Didn't know they were around then! Thought they first came onto the scene in mid-'88 with Hands to Heaven, etc. Anyway, glad they re-recorded and re-released this one in early '89!

If you weren't young free and lived and breathed the 1980's , you don''t know what you missed. I'm so glad Breathe was a part of my journey.
Give it a rest ffs. A child of the 70’s, 60’s or 90’s would say exactly the same thing.
Me also they got me thru Jr high school n I still listen to there songs now

Gorgeous voice and looks. Gah. I was so smitten as a teenager when this song was on the radio.
The best male voice ever. So unique. That crying voice just puts me in heaven. No one had a voice like his, or even came close.

The epitome of what an '80's band was...such a good tune and how it is a sleeper song and band to this day! Love Breathe!
David Glasper has one of my favorite Male singing voices ever. He is a total babe, also.
They arguably had three of the best pop singles from that decade!
Don't Tell Me Lies
Hands To Heaven
How Can I Fall

Great vocals and good lyrics!! Clean cut guys!!
For sure.
This needs to be on more 80's cds.
In America certainly, since a remix of this released in 1989 was a top 10 hit there.
Absolutely underrated and would love to see a reunion!!!!

That's highly unlikely. Unless Ian's son or daughter can help Dave and the boys out.
Videos did not have to be over the top back then because the songs were so great! I miss those days!

Most underated band in the 80's.
