It's impossible not to fall in love with it. I can remember when people thought the 60's were the best & always would say our music wasn't as good. I knew better & told them....one day you'll see. I had to tell my mom that so many times. 80's music was the biggest gift to me in my life. It would literally transform me into another dimension. It's unexplainable. I wish for more of it & other artists to make music like that but there's only a trickle of good songs & a handful of names. If I could go back in time & relive it, I'd jump at the chance.

Just the other day, I thought I heard this song for the first time. It has touched me in a profound way. Rather, RE-TOUCHED me! No doubt, I have heard this song before. Today, I went online/You Tube, only to find that it was released in 1988. And, I was blown away. That was the year that my father succumbed to/died from Metastatic Colon Cancer in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, the city of my birth. From the time of his diagnosis in Summer 1987 to his death in May 1988, I flew, for 11 months, between California and Florida EVERY weekend to help my mom with his care (you see, I am an only child). Also, during this 11 month period, I was preparing to move from the University of California at Berkeley to Botswana in Southern Africa to embark on my doctoral dissertation research. So, I wonder whether I erased this song from my mind because of its association with a particularly challenging and sad time in my life, or not. Whatever the case, I am glad I re-discovered it in this April 2017 year, just a month before the observance of the 29th anniversary of my father's death on Wednesday 18th May 1988. Wow! This song sounds so FRESH! So NEW!

I didn't appreciate the 80's aesthetic at the time cos I was born in the decade as opposed to really living it but damn, I'm so in love with the way the 80's looked. Just everything, the style, the cinematography, the colours, the vibe, the dancing...there's just this aura that moves through the 80's that makes me want to go back and really live it.

The 80s , there will never be another time like it. I was singing this to a girl in 8th grade . We went together for the whole summer and broke up right before school started. Summertime in the 80s was truly magical.
As i age, I find these songs somehow surface when I'm not focusing on anything particular. Amazing the power hearing them once more gives to old memories and experiences I'd not thought of for so many years. I epitomized hopeless romantic but, with music like this, how could anyone not be ?

I didn't appreciate the 80's aesthetic at the time cos I was born in the decade as opposed to really living it but damn, I'm so in love with the way the 80's looked. Just everything, the style, the cinematography, the colours, the vibe, the dancing...there's just this aura that moves through the 80's that makes me want to go back and really live it.
