    Camcorders are going to die out because they are TOO GOOD for their price. Why sell you a camcorder with a 25X lens when they can sell you a camera body, and a handful of lenses for THOUSANDS of dollars.

      Nailed it. And that's also why we will never see a Sony RX10v

      Exactly that! same as bridge superzoom cameras like Canon sx70, Lumix FZ300, FZ82, Nikon B700 etc.. i really doubt there will ever be their successors. expensive full frames, mirrorless with ultra expensive lenses are waaay more profitable for that companies...

    Good review very helpful, these camcorders are so easy to use way more compact for travel than the Panasonic bridge cameras available like fz2000. Looking forward to your next video review 👍

    I'm still SO upset that we likely will never get a compact 4K 60p consumer camcorders from Sony or Panasonic. Wild that something as tiny as the DJI Pocket 3 can record in 4k 60p but these cant.

    Really good and helpful video! I'm looking for a camcorder with a nice wide angle lens and night vision (infrared) for investigative work. Considering the Panasonic WXF1 vs. Sony AX53. I like the Nightshot switch on the Sony's rather than digging into menus on the Panny. Wondering if anyone can give me a good comparison of these two regarding stabilization (hand-held most of the time), sharpness and quality of video, and infrared video performance. Thanks!!!

    • @mitchelljermaine
      @mitchelljermaine 4 дні тому

      I have both. Nothing and I mean nothing will beat the Sony AX53's stabilization. At lower zoom ranges, they're equal, but once you start climbing up there to the 20, 40, 100x ranges, only the Sony can keep up. The Panasonic's zoom will start to bounce if you move even a little bit so you have to use a tripod or keep 100% still. Now, with the Sony; the stabilization only works if you have the camera hand held, if you use a tripod or rest the camera on something, the best-in-class stabilization for some reason will automatically disable since it has no gyro data to base it's position on, this is a known design flaw.
      Regarding the sharpness, the Sony takes it again. I don't know if it's just my WXF1, I doubt it since it's new, but reading some reviews online, others noticed the same problem, the amount of grain in the 4k footage makes it almost completely unusable, especially when compared to the Sony which has near cinema quality 4k when you factor in the dynamic range. The Panasonic's dynamic range is pretty pathetic, saturated colors, blown whites and crushed blacks, classic. I did a direct sun light test that the Panasonic failed before the sunlight even hit the lens, it could not adapt.
      Infrared is perfect on both. Better on the Sony because of the sharper image, but only on the WXF1 can you switch the IR mode on and off while in Wi-Fi mode, you can't do that on the AX53... in fact, you can't control much of anything via wifi on the AX53. On the panasonic, I can switch to 1080p IR or normal and 4k IR or normal all from Wi-Fi much faster than if I touched the camera. The amount of Wifi options on the WXF1 is pretty amazing compared to the two options of live view and zoom on the AX53. On the AX53, the zoom over Wifi is as slow as Sony could make it. The Wifi on the WXF1 is more reliable than the sony, but not as stable, what that means is that you won't disconnect until you run out of battery from the Panasonic, but the connection itself (depending on where you are) will be very sticky, freezing in and out, the opposite is true for the sony, you might disconnect randomly and have to reconnect, but once you're connected, you won't have any glitching or freezing no matter where you are.
      The 1080p 60p with HDR is a major redeeming feature of the WXF1. It's actually really impressive 1080p that competes with the AX53 in 4k. I don't use it because panasonic disabled HDR options if Wifi mode is used, and I control everything over wifi because the touch screen is awful. The touch screen is better on the AX53 than the WXF1.

    I'm lost in choosing a camcorder, for you for a maximum budget of $700 what is the best 4K camcorder with minimum x32 zoom, for traveling, vlogging...? THANKS !

      If you want a camcorder design then I think the WXF1 is a great choice. If you don't mind more of a traditonal camera design then the FZ300 is a great option and its reviewed on my channel,

    Are vx1 and xf1 the same? Also, how about their slow motion? When I watch 4K, it's only 30 frames? I don't like using 1080 because 1080 will make the wide angle narrow again, right? Is that right?

    • @techtoremember8096
      @techtoremember8096  Місяць тому

      The VX1 and FX1 have the same insides yes, just a few changes like no second camera and no viewfinder on the cheaper model. Slow motion is very good ..1080p only. and yes 4k is limited to 30fps. There is no additional crop in 1080p.

      @@techtoremember8096 ua-cam.com/video/5kdSxGa-3Kc/v-deo.htmlsi=1OOopa1hzZm1uCyW&t=78 At 1:18 in this video, it says that the wide angle of the VX1 camera in 4K mode is 25mm, and in HD mode it is 28.9mm, so there is a crop. I don't know if what I said is correct, because I don't have the camera. Can you help me check it? Thank you

    How do you think the quality of the WXF1 is compared to the Sony AX53 (and its sibling the AX43)?

    • @techtoremember8096
      @techtoremember8096  Місяць тому +2

      I was going to do a review of these 2 if there is enough interest generated in this camera. However being very familiar with both, I think the WXF1 would compete very very well with the AX53/43 honestly. Bright light, low light stabilization, I think I might actually prefer the Panasonic. And there are more features as well with the WXF1.

    • @allenmovies
      @allenmovies Місяць тому

      @techtoremember8096 thank you! I have the AX53 & used to have the AX100, which I sold. I just purchased the AX700 but unfortunately, even though it has great quality, thr AX700 has a weird new "600 clip limit" when you film in XAVC-S. So it can't even fill the card. Something the previous older models didn't have. So I wanna give Panasonic a chance, since I'd like something that has slightly better quality than the AX53 if possible! Would love to see a comparison video from you very much!

      @@allenmovies I'm undecided between the VX981 and the AX700. Is there anything else you can share with me regarding the AX700 that if you knew you would think twice before buying?

    • @allenmovies
      @allenmovies Місяць тому +1

      @gabrielvoc The AX700 has stunning video quality in low light and bright light, very sharp lens, but is quite heavy, the stabilization isn't that good, it has weird limits that previous versions didn't have (can't take photos while doing video), and for my every day needs, is a bit complex.

      It won't output a 4k signal when recording however you should be able to output a 1080p signal- did not personally test this but that information is according to the manual.

      These are the same cameras: only difference is the WXF1 has a viewfinder and small second camera on the screen. The VX1 does not have second camera and does not have viewfinder but the rest is the same. Picture quality the same.
