      If it doesn't do it natively you can stream with the HDMI port using a Capture Card.

    I am thinking about getting this camera, but I am concerned that my Zoom H4N Pro will not fit if I tried to attach it to the hot-shoe adapter the camera comes with.
    Has anyone tried it and can confirm it does or does not fit?

    • @HayesTech
      @HayesTech  4 місяці тому +1

      I've never tried using the hot shoe for hooking a microphone too. I too, use a Zoom microphone, but mine is an H1n. I like my mics to be positioned close to the sound source. So I use a lapel mic and the Zoom H1n (for out of studio recording) and for syncing the audio from the Zoom H1n to the audio from the camera, I clap 3 times to find the sync area quicker.
      Hopefully someone can chime in and tell you what mics and other accessories work with the hot shoe. I don't think I've ever used it and it's still in the box.

    Hey buddy so I just received my camera in
    However I went outside to record with it came back inside and put the SD card in the computer and I didn't see the quality video like you posted. Note even tho this is a 4k camcorder I don't wanna shoot in 4k but closest to it as possible bc 4k just takes up space to fast. What settings should I have my camera set on to get the best results and best video quality?

    • @HayesTech
      @HayesTech  Рік тому +1

      Thats a good question and the answer is personal to each videographer. Im using the Auto+ setting. I find, in these mid range video cameras, that letting the camera do the work for you is best (for me). If this were a high end video camera $2,000.00 and up, I would recommend manual adjustments to ISO and other settings. But in these pro-sumer style cameras I like using auto settings.

I ordered the new Sony FDRAX43A then I found out it’s the same as the old version just another release of it. Under Settings/Record Setup, scroll down to REC Format and choices are: 4k MP4, MP4 , AVCHD, and 24p. These settings are for the format. But for the resolution go to: Settings/Setup scroll down to HDMI resolution. The choices are: Auto, 1080p, 480p, 2160 (or 4k), and 1080i.
      I'm pretty sure I show this in the video, under the part of the video, that I go over the settings. But my memory isn't what it used to be either...lol... So I may have actually missed that while making this video. Anyways, hope this helps.

    Is this camera better than the Sony 60x hd camera recorder? Thanks 😊

    • @HayesTech
      @HayesTech  11 місяців тому

      The short answer is yes. The Sony is only 1080p and the Panasonic is 4k. If all you want is 1080p then the Sony may be what you are looking for. But I always shoot in 4k. Even if I intend on uploading the video in 1080p, I will always record it in 4k. This gives a much beter end result, down sampling from 4k to 1080p in the final rendering. Again, if all you want, or need, is 1080p then definitely look into both Sony and Canon, because they have some very good 1080p video cameras, for very affordable prices. I actually have a Sony Handycam HDR-CX440 and love it. I use it for some of my B-roll shots in a lot of my videos.

    Surprisingly good video for a 4K camcorder. You don't really need any color correction; you could just use it as is as - I am assuming there is no color correction. I am kind of kicking myself for getting the Sony HDR-CX405 over this, but, at the time, I didn't have the cash to put down almost $800

    • @HayesTech
      @HayesTech  9 місяців тому +1

      Nope, I don't do color correction in any of my videos. I have the Panasonic set in the Auto plus setting and it's been working out great for me. The colors are a little different from my Canon cameras but it's close enough that it doesn't bother me.
      And yes these cameras can get expensive, if you get them with all the bells and whistles. Like the rear facing camera, for a picture in picture. I don't need that. I got mine for about $500.00, if memory serves me. It may have been $600.00. I just can't remember now. But to be honest, if I could have affordded it, I would have went with a Canon video camera. Or even a Sony. The only thing I don't like about Sony is it's colors. It seems to look washed out to me..Lol...

      If I had the money, the Canon HF G70 (@ $1,200.00) would be the camera I would get. Don't get me wrong, my Panasonic does an outstanding job, but the HF G70 has the same color tones as my M50 and 90D and it's got a larger sensor than my Panasonic. So the larger sensor would help for low light. It's also got built in lens filters. But like I said earlier, my Panasonic will do until I can afford the Canon.

      For a professional videographer, you may want to shoot in manual mode only. But for me, I like the full auto setting. Now when using my DSLRs, Canon 90D and Canon M50, I shoot in manual mode, so I have total control. I like a nice, blurry background, and manual mode is the best way (for me) to achieve that on a DLSR camera.

      Out of the cameras that you mentioned, I only have experience with the Panasonic. However, I do use a Canon 90D and a Canon M50 along side of my Panasonic when making most of my videos. I like several camera angles while recording a video. I like the color science of the Canon cameras over the Panasonic. And that is purely a personal preference.
      I would rather record a video using the DSLR/SLR cameras over a video camera because of the lens choices out for a removable lens camera. Thats not to say a dedicated video camera, like the Panasonic, wouldn't be a good choice either. I use mine all the time. But it just doesn't have that look of a good, quality, interchangeable lens camera. I could make a video just on why one camera would be better than another. But bottom line is this, it's more important to concentrate on content, rather than the camea. And always make sure your audio is the best it can be.
      I know I probably didn't answer your question completely because I don't have all the cameras you mentioned. But I do think that what ever camera works for you and is easy to create, the way you like, is the camera to use. Which of the cameras that you mentioned checks off as many items that you want in a camera? Let me know.

    I actually would get completely rid of the in-camera editing and make some features more practical: audio has improved slightly, with respect to the V770, but it is far from great. @HayesTech  7 місяців тому

      You can switch to manual focus, but to change the aperture, for a nice Boca effect, that is done automatically. The more expensive models have those settings. I think the lense starts at about. f1 .8 and goes up from there. The lense would basically act like a zoom lens, like my Canon 28mm too 135mm.

    • @HayesTech

    Would recommend this over EOS rebel SL2 for video content/picture?

    • @HayesTech
      @HayesTech  2 роки тому

      That's a tough one. I guess I would have to say it all depends on what you want in a camera. If you want 4K with outstanding auto focus and no crop, in that 4K, then I would have to say the Panasonic. But if you want interchangeable lenses and Canon's dual pixel autofocus and excellent color profile, then I'd have to say the Canon camera.
      It's a real tough decision between a video camera and a DSLR, which are so different, whenever you're trying to make a decision. And that is a personal choice. I myself have both a video camera, my Panasonic, and two DSLR's, my 90D and my M50. And each camera system has their own attributes.
      I wish I could help you more but I can't. All I can say is look at the video quality and judge for yourself. And then look at what your needs are and what you want out of that camera. I hope that helped and thank you so much for watching and for the comment.

    • @HayesTech
      @HayesTech  Рік тому

      Absolutely. It's easy to use and takes very good 4K video. It has a solid 3.5mm port for using an external mic (mic needs to have it's own battery source) and even has good night vision, that's also in 4K.
      If you only need 1080p then this also looked good in that and you get even more features open to you in the video and audio selections while in 1080p. I use an external mic so that's not useful to me.
      Could it be better? Yes, but at this price your getting a lot. I would love to see XLR ports on it and a better manual focus, both of which you get on the next level up video cameras, but for most video use, this works great. Again, I use this camera in every one of the videos I've done since I got it.

    • @HayesTech
      @HayesTech  3 роки тому

      Yes you can. In the right side, towards the top, there is a little door that flips open. That is where you plug in the USB to charging plug. If your camera didn't come with that plug, you are screwed until you purchase extra batteries and a charger. I purchased 2 extra, long play, batteries that came with an actual charger. You can get everything you need from Amazon.

    I'm curious to know if an Atomos Ninja V would work on this unit, because if it did, then you would gain: 1) better 4K to HDD conversion algorithms to enhance the video output/editing capabilities. 2) A bigger monitor to check & adjust the lighting 3) Get rid of the small memory cards that limit the time you can shoot with direct access to an SSD disk on the Atomos (500Gb or even 1Tb) combined with USB power bricks (1 for the camera +1 for the atomos) Then, this camera (or the HC-WX991K) would just be the perfect little gizmo for hobbyists & travel, podcast, interviews, live shows, ads, short films, family parties etc.

    Drives me nuts how I can't use a high tripod and film soccer games with great video cameras like this, since the viewfinder is on the front/side - If the ball goes a certain direction I have to crane my neck and/or can't see the screen. I'm looking for a camera with a huge good quality LCD near the back of the camera that focuses quickly and takes good video, if anybody has a recommendation. Been looking far and wide!

    • @HayesTech
      @HayesTech  2 роки тому +2

      You will need a more pro camera and an external monitor. The monitor plugs into the the camera and then you can put the monitor any where you want. Those cameras start about $1,200.00 and up.
      Or go with a DSLR and external monitor. But again, you will have cost of camera, cage, monitor and anything that goes with it to make a system.
      This camera is at the bottom of the quality 4k video cameras. Canon and Sony are the same way but even more expensive. A Sony starts in the $600.00 and goes up (even more now with this situation we are all in financially). Basically you have to check the specs of the camera and make sure it has an HDMI out port. If it has that, you can add the external monitor. Hope that helps

On the other hand, if you could go a little more and get one of them, you would definitely notice The difference in both ease of use and video quality. First, from the main screen, touch the bottom left icon until you see the settings icon and touch it. That takes you to the camera's settings options. Then choose the first icon "Record Setup". Then, touch the bottom arrow until it scrolls to the last 2 settings and you will see 2 mic settings. If you have an external mic plugged into the camera, the first mic setting called "MIC SETUP" will be available and if you touch that setting it will allow you to adjust the external mic volume.
      If you don't have an external mic plugged into the camera, that setting will not be accessible and you will have to choose the next setting called "MIC LEVEL". This adjusts the levels of the in-built mics that come with this camera. Touch that and a drop down will come up with "AUTO" and 2 others, "Set AGC on"and the other "Set AGC off". I use "Set AGC off" when I'm not using an external mic (which is rare as I always have my Rode lav mic attached to the camera). Once you pick one of those 2 settings, another window will open up where you can then adjust the volume.
      I hope this helps you out. I still use this camera in every video I make and love it. I would love to be able to afford to get a Canon 4k video camera but for now this camera is working great for me and has awesome video quality.

    Great review ❤️ help a lot. Willing to buy it. Have few quotations .
    1. Does it have 120p slowmotion record ?
    2. Any other option to attach the mic without z grip?
    3. With the external mic is it record in to sd card?
    4. Plan to shoot a experimental docu fiction with the camera.is it worth buying for filmmaking in this budget range ?
    Again well detailed review . Love it . ❤❤❤

    • @HayesTech
      @HayesTech  Рік тому +1

      1. Highest recording speed is 60fps in 1080p. 4k does not have anything higher than 30fps.
      2. As for attaching a mic, there is a cold shoe port on the back of the camera, where you can slide in the, included, cold shoe (I'm pretty sure it's a cold shoe and doesn't have power). I took it off for easier use of the zoom toggle switch. I used the Z-grip because it just made shooting with the camera, so much easier and gave many mounting options.
      3. Yes, the external mic records, with the video, on the SD card. They are not separate files though. The external mic just gives you a more professional mic option than the built in mics, so the audio is part of the video file. Remember, this is not a professional video camera but more a "prosumer" level. It's made for people that want a bit more than the little consumer grade cameras, like the Canon Vixia HF R800 and the Sony Handycams? Panasonic also has a cheaper 1080p video camera but it doesn't have near the picture quality that this one has. I know, I've tested all of them and have made videos on them.
      4. This is the only 4k prosumer video camera in this price range, so yes, it's worth it. But... If you don't mind purchasing used then other options open up. Sometimes you can find Canon and Sony 4k video cameras (used) for the price of this one new. You may still have to add another $100.00 for the used cameras but you also get the features of a more professional camera. Ones that come to mind are Sony 4k NEX-FS700U ($804.00 used) Canon 4k Xa40 ($980.00 eBay). Panasonic also has a few but they usually are a little more in price. Used Panasonic pro grade video cameras give you a ton of features in a nice price, for what they are ( usually around $1,200.00 to $1,500.00 used). But again, the Panasonic cameras at this price range are pro cameras with all the bells and whistles.
      I hope this helps and that I've answered all your questions. I am no pro when it comes to videography. I am a UA-camr who loves tech. Let me know if you have any more questions.

So almost all of my recordings are indoors, stationary and with much of the actual recorded video, masked out either with green screen or just an opacity mask.

      Yes. My Canon cameras all have a 30 minute limit and this is my only camera that I don't have to worry about that time limit. The only thing that determines record length is your battery. I use, aftermarket, extended play batteries, that will record for over 3 hours.

      Where and what kind of extended play batteries?
