I think we can all agree that we wish we had something like this when we started out.
Them kids/newbies be lucky these days!
Jesse's Auditorium and UA-cam yes I’m 64 this wasn’t available all this 🤪😎👍🎸
I could not agree more.
You got that right, i'm now," cough cough" years old and definitely wish these were around when i started playing.
Well I’m 38 and starting out so I’m thrilled this is available. \m/
When I was a kid in the 60s I had a Fender Champ and one day I finally got a Vox distortion booster! Major sonic expansion!
For me the big selling point is that you can save thousands of dollars on pedals by buying this amp.
def
Get the Katana
Hell yes I was thinking the same thing
Most of the digital effects on these modeling amps chug cock.
@@hairnation68 katana doesnt have blue tooth though
I got a GTX100 yesterday, after watching several other videos and trying one out at GC. I got it because of the great sounds it puts out, the amp does what Fender says it can do, and much more. I'm really enjoying picking different presets and modifying them, and the good thing is, if you want to start over, you can go back to the factory configuration. And as Fatt Philosopher points out in his comment, you do wind up saving thousands in pedals, something I was getting tired of dropping money on. My favorite presets for now are 65' Twin Reverb, Uber Metal, Chorus Funk, and Blues 1951. I am still in the learning process, but what can I say, it's a lot of fun! Definitely give it a go, I don't think you'll be disappointed.
I bought this amp and I can tell you it sounds excellent! Don't listen to the mindless group think snobbery from people who have never played the amp themselves or heard it thru a PC speaker and can't hear any "soul " - hahaha. I own A 68 Fender Twin, Vox AC15, Blues Jr., Katana 100 and the new Fender GTX 100 is really incredible and versatile amp for the money.
Hey Kevin, how would you compare to the Katana 100? How is the feel? How is the response to guitar vol knob? Is pretty loud as katana is?
@@LefterisTrichakis I still feel that the Katana 100 is a great amp in terms of feel. The Katana certainly moves more air than the Mustang GTX 100. That said, I like the tones I am getting from the Mustang GTX. So much so that I sold my Katana yesterday :)
I just got my GTX100 and am so far really liking it. WAY better than the Katana 50mk2 IMO.
I have played so many amps and guitars I don't know where to start. I now have the Mustang gt 100 and to be honest, what more can you ask for you have everything you could possibly want from this amp.
As an older player who played in the 80s, the idea of all that in a light weight package is amazing . I still have an all tube ampeg vt-120 triax w EV 12 combo..carry that lol , love the channel still more of a southern rock blues guy , Keep up the good work Max !!
Nice review. Even though I am old enough to be your granddad, I like the way you describe things- clear, concise and very good diction. For us older 60’s rockers, a light and useable amp is a big plus. Thanks for doing these reviews!
Another "old fart" agrees with you at 63!
Just turned 50 and I love how Max uses his dry sense of humor when reviewing things. I love this channel.
Our generation descended from the King Chuck Berry!
Ditto. He's a lot of fun, I love Max's channel.
I used this amp in my church and connected to a PA system and they were amazed how the sound is coming into a PA speaker. I love how i changed the effects into a cathedral ambience.
Got my GTX 100 two months ago. It is totally awesome. Best amp I've ever owned and shave me a fortune on pedals. Looks so amazing too. Trad but with every sound imaginable.
I got the GTX100 finally, so happy with it .. a 100watt, FREE Footswitch, so light weight, a harmonizer FX (this is so rare), LOUD and tons of feature .. soundwise I can do anything with it. Btw if you realized I always thought the new tonemaster pro is actually GTX100 on a pedal
Great vid Max. For modeling amps, I do love the Mustangs, and this one really seems to do it all. My Mustang II has been wonderful through the years, still use it for a lot of my UA-cam videos. Though not having an effects loop was it's big drawback. I have since modded it to be used as normal or as a cabinet, and run a Joyo Meteor through it. Modeling has really come a long way. Thanks again Max, always bringing the goods.
Great review for me personally. I’ve had the Roland Jazz Chorus with its stereo inputs in my sights. Like you mentioned in your video, it does ONE thing extremely well, clean channel VERY pedal friendly. This Fender amp with its stereo loop, for the money seems more versatile. Plus I’m one of those guys who doesn’t want to use his phone to get the most out of my amp. Thanks for the time and effort for this demo !!
Dang man your channel has grown a lot in the past 2 years. That's awesome. This was a great review. I've been interested in this new Mustang. Haha @ the box opener! Thanks a bunch, Max.
I have an older Mustang 2. I've had mine for about 6 years. and it still works great! It's good for home and can be used in small venues easily. When I first got mine, I messed with it in conjunction with the computer program, but only a few times. I pretty much like the presets and get the sound I like from them. I dig mine, so I'm sure the newer versions are way Kool too!
Outstanding review!!! I bought one of these today at guitar center and almost brought it back to the store until I started screwing around with settings and then found alot in a short while that sound pretty damn good, but you have to dig in and change parameters, cab types, bias and sag settings and eqs make a difference
Love your review - you are clear, detailed, informed and your voice is awesome. Genuinely keep this up! Liked and subscribed.
This is one of your most in depth reviews, you definitely sold me on it without trying.... Fender should give you a call for a spokesperson position. Btw love your channel!
I really like this amp! The effects are the best built in sound I've heard. It's got the Fender look, the foot switch, apps, etc. One 12" speaker. I just need the money!! Great sword opening Max! Good review for sure. I'm actually jealous.
Is it any good for metal
I have a Mustang III V2.0 and it’s my absolute favorite. The blues tone it can create is amazing and the metal tones aren’t bad either! The volume is PLENTY for a drummer or live at a bar.
That's the amp I've been looking for forever
Great review. I like the price point of this amp and the features that come with it. With all the tones, one could save a lot of money on effects pedals. I will these type of amps were available with I was a teen. This is like a Swiss Army knife with all its features.
Damn I really enjoyed the way you explain all the intricacies of this amplifier. Liked and subbed!
Just got this gtx100 the other day (on sale at Guitar Center for $429)and it's great. Alot of stuff to learn and I have only scratched the surface for what it can do. A lot of amp for the price. Thanks for demoing it Max
Great Review Max!
I have That 1. Love it.
KEEP Rocking it !
Max, I don't own one but definitely will its in my bucket list. Your audition 💯% bro. Your transparency explaining guitars 🎸 or even an amplifier is by far better introduced than most......Thankyou Bro 🤘
I’m glad that you decided to wear a Han “Solo” shirt on 5-4.
I wore a complete cosplay Jedi outfit to my job at a hospital in Arlington, VA today plus surgical mask.
Yoooo i live in alexandria right near that hospital lmao
Great review! I think it looks georgeous! I just love that vintage look, the shiny grill is cool also!
I’ve just recently come across your channel... MAN! I love your videos. I’m just starting out in the cinematic rock world, and your videos really encourage me.
Awesome! Thank you!
This is the 3rd vid I've seen on these amps and every one has tones and demos I like.
Smart phone apps are sorta new to me but they can offer a lot here.
Best thing is the price. I love the included footswitch.
btw, nice Black Tiger riff.
I have this amp. The XLR out is a great feature. You can get a lot out of this. One feature not mentioned, the blue tooth allows you to run music through it while you are playing. This is great when you are practicing. We also use the blue tooth to run break music through it. This is a great amp.
I just bought this amp this past Friday Jul 9 2021 and I find this amp to be very good! I liike most of the presets and the tone is very good sounding to me.
Love the shirt. If I was interested in a digital amp, I would seriously consider this. Good review.
I totally agree on your last idea that's what I'm thinking also. But then again is the tone and versatility that accounts
Great review max
Ya know when an unboxing starts with an unsheathed sword, it's gonna be a great review video. Awesome job
I just bought the LT50 and couldn't be happier. Versatile and sounds great.
The #6 ambient wash setting is one of the best presets on this amp. I absolutely love it. Especially when you use the looper and have 3 or 4 layers going on all at once.
Okay. That amp is beautiful. I absolutely love the retro design. I’ve got a Spark amp but I might get one of these also!
I love the traditional look and the over the topsounds with a good mix of clean sounds!
Good review! I have a Mustang III 100 watt with a Celestion 12" in my guitar studio. It works well since I teach both guitar and bass and it does a fine job with both. It really does need the Fuse software to get the most out of it, however. Mine came with a smaller foot switch so it's not this deluxe. The Mustang amps are solid as a line and seem pretty reliable, too.
Love the content!!
I had a Mustang 2 v2 .....
... 45w as i recall and was super easy to figure out all the presets and dail a solid tone but you had to carry your laptop around to get all it had to offer via the USB connection (it didn't have a MID knob so you could only dail your mids on your laptop..... which was a bit annoying), had an amazing lead tone that really stood out when you were playing solos and leads however i remember hooking up my baritone guitar to the amp and it simply couldn't chug when playing some heavier riffs so i sold it and bought a katana 100 instead ...which i still use!
I'll definitely try this one out when this quarantine bs is over tho.
Nice review, maybe my next amp. I just bought a slightly used Vox AC15 to accompany my PG Spark 40, Monoprice 15w, Vox Valvetronix AD100VT XL and a Fender Rumble 40 Bass Amp. I can see me having this in the future.
Very cool! Good review. Thanks! Might have to get one.
very thorough review! thank you so much!
Got my GTX100 in 2020- pandemic B-Day present- and I like it. I suck at guitar but i like the amp. I have a RW50 Strat only now but it sounded great with my RG550 and Epi LP Standard. Sweet amp for not a lot of money that handles lots of musical genres.
Another good review I enjoyed it
Great review as always
Thanks Max...very informative!
Now all we need is a job.
Sadly, the Amp is most likely made in China like my Fender Mustang III v1. If the "Plannedemic" has taught us anything it's that our politicians have sold us out. Outsourcing comes with a price and the peasants pay that price. Next time you consider buying that ridiculously low priced amp with all the bells and whistles, think about the average guy who lost his or her job because of globalism. I've known many friends and family over the years that lost their jobs because their employer could not compete with foreign competition. It didn't matter how good their product was. Without good paying jobs the average consumer won't be able to afford your quality. How many people do you know that hate Walmart but have little choice to shop elsewhere because of their low paying job? Do you really need an amp? Unlike food and clothing many of us don't need an amp. If you must and have the spare change, consider buying used.
Just my 3 cents.
@@anyhoot47 First thing you need is a job.....Can't eat an amp. Maybe when the plague is finished....but the democrat's will start another one.
@@cugir321 you should look into Five G and how it's makes people sick, radiation sickened is similar to flu.
TRUMP 2020
@@freddytella9560 Can't wait until Trump is gone.
It's funny, when the Line 6 "Spider Jam" amp came out (and I got one) and lot of my buddies were like... "why would you want an amp that does all that crap." Now, it seems like every amp manufacturer is coming out with the same type of "do it all" digital amps. Maybe, just maybe that "one" special sound you want out of a digital amp isn't as good as a tube amp costing 20 times more, but the digital amp can do things that the tube amp can never do on its own. My Line 6 Spider Jam is starting to show its age a bit, this new "Fender Mustang" might be worth a trade up. We will have to see. Great videos, keep up the good work. William C. central Indiana.
@@NANA-ht7gl I agree with you that saying 20x more was more than a bit of a stretch. However, new Blues Jr's (arguably a fantastic little amp) with a 12 inch speaker start at $600 (yes, I know you can get them a little cheaper and or used) and are only 15 watt amps. And I know, you can't really compare wattage/volume between tube and solid state... that 15 watt will be plenty loud. But to get the same capabilities out of the Blues Jr that you can get out of the new Mustang, your investment is not only going to be in the cost of the amp and that in effect does drive up the cost in a price comparison. If you want all of the effects, the better foot switch, recording capability... That doesn't mean the Mustang is better, it's not. It's just different. But as a total package, even if they are within $100 dollars of each other the Mustang offers more initially. "20x" more? No. Totally in agreement with you there, but potentially a considerable bit more to get them on the same page capability wise. Sound wise is a totally different argument. Love me some solid state amps but they don't really compare to tube amp sounds.
I think Fender has done right with all the Mustang amps. I just play for my own self gratification and am no musician but I enjoy playing. I have a couple of Mustang 25 LT amps one for the basement entertainment room and one for upstairs I keep in the living room. I considered purchasing the larger Mustang but the 25 is fine for what I do and anything more would have been overkill. I do like the foot pedal set up with the 100 but truly it is more than I need. My father was a good musician he would have loved to have had one of these when he was alive.
I have a Mustang LT25 as a practice amp. I've used it on stage, just mic'd it through the PA. I love it. I want the 100 as well.
I think Fender got the looks bang on! Much nicer than previous models. Great amp.
Very nice overview!
Hi Max, I've got the Mustang V2 and it's still great. Ps. You thinking of auditioning for a Highlander film :-) mind your head. Thanks for the channel and congrats on the 100K subs.
I absolutely Love my Mustang GT40. The app experience is so smooth too. I really thought it to be gimmicky at first glance, but it is really well done and makes configuring effects extremely simple
The GT40's a great little box.. except for the terrible speakers inside of them. Send the audio through some computer monitors and the thing really does shine for what it is! I'm guessing that's the reason Fender's re-releasing the same software in a new hardware package.
I was thinking of buying one. I love the small factor of the GT40 but Ikve been reading mixed reviews regarding the sound. Not expecting to gig with it but practice and home office entertainment. How would you qualify the sound?
I have two Mustangs. My journey actually started out with the G-DEC line. I now have a Mustang IV and a Mustang III V.2 Love both. As time has gone on Fender makes improvements and adds features that players like. Heck I remember when Fender came out with the CYBER TWIN.......My Mustang 4 has 100 tone presets, dozens of effects, computer software to make your own presets, a pedal that allows you to swap between presets, 150 watts of power, a headphone jack, a mini-USB port, and two 12 inch Celestion speakers. What made me go to the III was the direct XLR out to our sound board. No more Micing the amp for live performances and other stage noise. The III is lighter too but has the same features and 100 presets the older IV had and sounds great. However the Fender Fuse software is out dated and no longer supported. Im thinking about getting the new GTX100 but these amps are still in great working order and condition. Nice job on the review.
Just picked it up yesterday. Been using the mustang micro for months and wanted similar tones from my amp. This thing is sick. I'm a noob tho so not much to compare it too. For my needs it is perfect.
Awesome Tones man
I just got the 50 watt and it’s awesome 😎 light weight and loud. And I can Bluetooth my phone to jam with backing tracks.
Worth every penny, awesome 👌 intro.
Unboxing with swords is why I love this channel. Teeny USB phone style
connector instead of a rugged full size USB B port seems like a mistake.
Yes, modeling amps have been around for a while, but I think more, and more companies are going to go to this type amp, especially with the success the "SPARK" is having.. It will be interesting to see what other features companies will come up with in the coming years.. Thanks for the video..
Lol @ "I love the smell of a new amp." Good ol' hydrocarbons. Amp sounded cool Max. I'm just having some fun. 🤣
Great review thanks for the insight and a really good review that we can understand
Glad it was helpful Steve!
I may or may not buy the amp... but you've sold that t-shirt to me! Ordering as we speak! Haha
I have the GT 200 and LOVE it!! I also had the Mustang 3 amp and loved it too..now they come out with the new on ugh..OK more money to spend lol.
Great video!
I could listen to Ambient Wash all day. I'm still using my old Korg AX-1000G.
I still got my Korg AX3000G :) A few friends of mine also have Boss ME-50s and old Zoom FX stuff
@@Rose.Of.Hizaki I had a BOSS ME-10.
That's cool that your a 80's style dude but then again your style of playing gives it away & I am a huge 80's dude myself so yeah this amp is frickin kick ass! Has all the bells & whistles & stereo too boot.. Dig it man!! Michigan!
Once you go shred all other styles fall dead.
Great channel !! Thanks for all you do! My question is, can you add a power attenuator some how ,to have a variable volume control?
Very informative. Thank u :)
I was kinda check out the 25W mustang. Plan on getting one sometime soon. At home right now , I've got a Vox VX 15 GT. Really cool amp , sounds awesome. And it's so incredibly lite.
A very good Review , thanks ..
I really like it and more so that it comes with the foot switch board.. Looks and sounds super kool..! 👍🎸
For me is the big thing that this amp and also the previous gt amp invites you to be much more creative
nice job on the explanation on the amp.
Pretty sweet! I grew up taking lessons from my guitar teacher who ran a Fender amp, so I grew up wanting to remain a Fender amp snob...lol
got mine coming tomorrow!!!
how do u like it?
Nice compact easy to carry box knife, been wanting something like that for convenience
I love these amps! I have the 2×12 version .
Its the Best Amp I've ever owned !
Looks like a lot of amp for the price. Some of the presets you used had a real Rush Alex Liefson sound. Great Demo.
Early Mustang were good for clean tones, last GT I didn't particularly care for and it went back. I bought a Katana for practice and it sounds really good. I will pick up one of these when I can find a clean used one with the footswitch for around $350.
Great review! Thanks! I own the Older Mustang III V2 a previous model and considerd better than the GT model, the one before the GTX. I got it second hand for 200 Bucks with 4 and 2 button foot switch and a expression pedal. The III V2 comparing to the GTX misses the Bluetooth, can only put 4 effects in a chain (stomp, mod, delay, revers - so I can not combine a compressor with a overdrive or stack gaan pedals )but it is Still a great sounding amp and a real Swiss army knife. I can play Gary Moore, U2, Bon Jovi, Direstraits, Bryan Adams and all the classics with it. I only missing a boost pedal or gain stacking, but can use separate pedals for that in the effect loop.
Damn. I just bought a 100watt katana. I may have gotten that instead. The app looks pretty awesome and it comes with the foot switch
I have the GTX50...and man, this thing is blow your mind freakn badass!!!Coolest invention since Kool aid!!!Ty Max!
Mine gets here next week.
@@Mrjtoomuch did you get your GTX yet???
I think the look of the amp is great, whether I'm playing metal, blues or Phish covers. I would also love to see a comparison video of the modelled Blues Jr vs the actual Blues Jr. Awesome video Max.
It's really classy looking. Seems to fit most styles.
I been buying pawnshop random amps, this catch's my eye cuz I've never unpacked a new amp nor a digital amp!
😂 Still with the sword... I love it! 😂
It might be safer to try to half-sword for the box openings though.
Yo bro that purple Schecter that you have there hanging on the wall is the key of everything broo. Wish I had one
The Mustang Series are great amps for home use, recording etc. The Katana also works well in this capacity. In a live setting the Kahana wins in my opinion. The 5 amp styles that you have on the Katana are easy to dial in and don't have the big volume variation that are common on the Mustang and other modeling amps. I use a pedal board with the Katana 212 and have done so for years. It easily hangs with a drummer. Etc. and is very reliable too. If you will be strictly using in home, pick the one that you feel sounds best. You really can't go wrong with either one.
Cosmetics are a major improvement (IMHO). I only wish stores were open to try one out. Hopefully soon. Good review. Thanks.
Great review. I have the GTX50 on the way. You make an interesting point about looks, but do many pay much attention to what the player’s amp looks like on stage? I honestly don’t know. I’ve gone to many concerts, and other than paying attention to what the band sounds like, and a little focus on what guitars they are using, I can’t recall paying much attention to the amps other than just noticing whether they are Marshall’s or whatever. Now when I catch a concert after this COVID crap is over, you’re going to have me paying more than the usual attention to the amps 😂. Much mahalo!
I used to be the one who "had" to have the full/half stack. That was fine when I was 20-30. But once I hit 40 and a broken back, that shit got heavy. I switched to whatever small combo amp I liked best at the time. I could bring the amp, pedal board, crate of spare stuff and both my guitars into the club with a hand truck. I learned that less can be more and there was no need for fricking half stacks that the vol was never set higher than 3. Now I have a little Orange Crush 12 for at home practice and recording. And mic'd it would work fine for a small to medium club. I've used as small as 15 watt amps at gigs. That's what mics and pa are for. ;)
I used peavey half stacks for over 20 years gigging. A peavey butcher for about 5 yrs then switched to the 5150. I'm 48 now and just can't stand lugging them around anymore. I tried sticking with peavey and went with the 100 watt Vypyr. I hate it! I'm leaning more towards the Boss Katana altho the blackstar I.D. core has impressed me as well.
Yes Less Is More
For Sure! 🌞
I have the Fender Mustang LT25 and Love it....Thanks buddy!! Tim n Tina
Really? I bought the LT25 and I'm not loving. It sounds very muddy an undefined. At least mine does
I am 55 and I can dig it ... thinking that I should buy it..haven't had a good amplifier in years lots of great features .really like the stereo stuff ..don't know much about preset effects..normally just use distortion, delay Wawa Fazer, and flanger but , very interested .tax return may help my decision . thankyou brother 🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🔥👍✌️😎
Dude got a whole frickin sword yo unbox things 😂😂🤘
Another excellent video. Would you do a Ceriatone Amps?
I love the amp. Lately, I have been going pedalboard free due to the included control switches. It's very limited with the dsp memory limit and freezes quite frequently. But overall has been great. Just wished it was a bit more reliable with it's software.
Owned the equivelent Boss Katana. The GTX wins hands down for me. Great review
