The tone and versatility of this Fender GTX 100 is amazing. It does take a bit fiddling of all the settings to get what you want. But when you get there you will put away your tube amps. As a certified Mustang expert I can tell you previously that with all other models the first thing I did was swap out the speaker to turn them into great amps. That was my only previous complaint - they put speakers in that are a compromise to play regular music / line-in accompaniment, and cost. However... with the GTX 100 I can say the improved Celestion speaker they put in these are as good as it gets. I tried other speakers, while they sounded DIFFERENT, I won't say BETTER. I ended up putting the original back on. So save your money don't even bother. That being said, when I first turned it on I thought it sounded like an AM radio... it definitely needed to be broken in. Superbly smooth & sweet when it was. And most definitely use an amp stand to get it off the floor and pointing at you. I actually also bought the new Katana Artist MK2. The Katana amp does appear better built and more solid, also with an amazing new speaker. That being said, I always went back to the GTX for more fun and better vintage tones. The Katana only has 4 amp amp types. And each one is an extension of the previous. Add max gain to the "clean" and that is where the next "crunch" starts. So its basically 1 amp type, that you can extensively modify with the App. So ended up returning the Katana, and kept the GTX, if that says anything. The GTX 100 does absolute great vintage tones of old Fender & British amps. There are several modern tones also, I just never worked with them.
Hi, thanks for your comment. I would like to ask you a question. I am a beginner, looking for a first amp. I need something for bedroom practice. My one concern, is that this will be too loud. Would this amp fit that role?
@@trojanhman8136 Hey Trojan, this is the PERFECT amp for home practice. Like all digital / modeling amps you can set the volume as you need. It isn't dependent on "volume" to get the tone you want. One thing that people generally dont talk about enough with this amp: It can be used as a powered cab for Helix, QC, Kemper etc if you just go into the FX return. That might seem to miss the point, but if you are looking for a really nice classy looking FR cab for onstage.. this is incredibly lightweight, good speaker, loud, affordable... it actually beats the competition hands down. I bought a Friedman ASC12, carried it up one flight up stairs and immediately sold it. Friedman is the only other powered cab out there that actually looks good on stage, the rest look awful. Sadly, it was a tonne weight, really fizzy and low volume. Utterly pointess. Oh, and it was mega expensive. Lastly, if your chosen amp sim pedal happens to go down, or you forget a power supply etc.. youve got a second emergency backup rig sitting right there in the fender. What powered FRFR cab can say that? Would love to see fender do a limited run of different tolex options.
Kinda thinkin the same, I'd like to pair a 50w with a 100w, using an a/b switch for input and all 4 outs to the board..probly need foot pedals for both amps though..
And this is the reason why Fender has discontinued Fender Fuse? I have a Fender Mustang v2 and I want the software Fuse to program my amp. Please Fender, don't discontinue Fuse...
Maybe you never got this data - Fender was FORCED to drop the Mustang V2 as the software platform depended on Microsoft Silverlight (used to be a component of Windows), and Microsoft suddenly totally dropped all support for Silverlight. It was forced stagnant at 32 bit "adrift" / never to be updated, MS Silverlight. Fender obviously put a lot into the tones etc for "that platform". They were forced to do the GT thing, from absolute scratch.
This is why when I get these modelers I program my own stuff in back off this best I can. You cannot rely on their technology you'll be a slave to it as demonstrated every couple of years
my trusted music store recently evaluated my mustang 3 v2 and i bought the new GTX 100... but just 2 days ago before to sell the old amp i have been able to run Fender Fuse in windows 10, using it to backup the presets and a quick test of the correct working of the amp. It seemed to me Fuse was perfectly in sync with the amp... In what sense Fuse is no more supported?
I might consider an amp like this one if and only WHEN they provide MIDI IN and THRU jacks, and allow assigning continuous controller numbers and add a wah effect. Until that happens, I couldn't use this live. In the 90's that USED to be the norm... Johnson, ART, Crate, Rocktron, Line6 ... even FENDER! ...rackmountable pre-amps from Roland, Digitech, ZOOM... What happened? the goal was to give the player total realtime control over every parameter of the sound. It's good to see towards the end that you can at least use an expression pedal. Can I assume that I could at least assign that to work as a volume control? Waiting for MIDI to "come back." Meanwhile, I'm sticking with a BOSS GT pedal and a powered cab, or an FRFR set up.
@Christopher Charles I totally agree with you on the "saves having to pay for a hardware... that has only one type..." In my world, having a "virtual" wah allows me to control more than one wah simultaneously in parallel signal chains. I run two or more rigs at the same time - perhaps one is going directly into the PA system while the other is my "stage" rig. Running virtual wahs from one MIDI controller allows me to play two different wah pedals ("vox" "Dunlop" etc.) to each of those. In the case of my Rocktron Chameleon, I don't use the "wah" in it, but using a parametric EQ, having the controller pedal sweep the frequency of a band of EQ... basically designing my own wah. Imagine what you can do with two types of overdrive, two sets of delay times, reverbs... it's my sound, and it's HUGE... and it requires a full MIDI capability to work.
I use the 100W version at home and it is doable. There is a point that goes to the Katana and Nextone who can decrease their output to even half a watt.
You've finally got a foot switch that I I can put the five different sounds I need on. This might finally be a reason to switch up from my Mustang V V2 (eventually). But, is the only functional difference between the 50 & the 100 (apart from having to by the foot switch separately) the wattage & speaker? If so the 50 seems the way to go (everything is DI on stage & rehearsal anyway, I don't actually need sound coming out of the speaker)
if your not getting the foot switch I would recommend the 50 watt but, for only 20$ more you can get the 100 watt with the foot switch it's a lot better deal.
@@kaylummclachlan3964 I was going to go for that, but went with the 50 because the 100 wasn't going to be back in stock for another five months. & then the one I got has a faulty USB port, so I've got to send it back to Fender's local distributor, who are absolutely atrocious
I just got this amp and I love. I can't figure out how to set the presets on my pedal for my top 5. It tells you how to go up and down 5 presets but not how to save specific ones to the pedal???? Do you know how to do this?
@@Rockandrollgeerage You have to set them to the right bank of five. This might mean deleting or moving some factory presets so that you have the ones you want, where you want. I’ve got my three standard tones on preset 1,2,&3, with two wah setups on 4,&5, then my three standard, again, on 6,7,&8, and an acoustic sim & a delay solo setup on 9,&10. That way my standard things are always on the first three buttons, & I can switch bank to go to song specific extras
@@DenniWintyr thanks for the info. Still think it is strange that in the year 2020 it would be so difficult to manipulate the presets. I would think it would be as easy as setting the presets for radio stations on a car stereo , go to the preset I want and press down and hold till it blinks. Oh well, great amp either way.

Makin' Waves how did it crap out? Where there any signs prior to it failing? This is what in the end worry’s me...it’s still just a computer except no one will fix it when it breaks. 😑. I have been thinking of either selling it or if it does fail...maybe gutting it and using the power section as a power amp for pedal.
Power just falls off intermittently. I'm going to take it for diagnosis. Might not be that it is a DSP issue except when the power falls off it is only the sound (including the head phone jack), the display remains lit. Now that could be there is enough capacitance in the computer/top and to appear normal during the power interruption, but in the sound area energy requirements are high enough for deficiencies to be heard. No real warning signs. I've considered doing the same. Plus I'm sure that nice but FRFR speaker could be repurposed with the power section. I'm just going to get mine fixed and try to find it a new home. I pre-ordered the Positive Grid Spark for my home daily practice amp. As for what I will play out my next purchase is MojoTone Tweed Deluxe kit (5E3 circuit) to build and I'm watching for good deals on Hx Stomp for my light travelling rig.

I love this dude’s house
I am wondering if you can use two of these amps in stereo? If so can you use one cell phone/ tablet to control both?
Kinda thinkin the same, I'd like to pair a 50w with a 100w, using an a/b switch for input and all 4 outs to the board..probly need foot pedals for both amps though..
You can find a Santana Lead Guitar patch with Fender GTX100?The patch of Black Magic Woman & Oye Como Va.Thanks.
👍Very Good 🙂. Take it for me to playlist.
Would nice to know if you are miked up in that open room or line out?
Thanks for a great demo! I tried this today and I'm sold. I'll be trading in my Helix for this next week (and will have money to spare!).
Awesome!
When will this available in Malaysia?
I bought it and i love every inch of it 😘
And this is the reason why Fender has discontinued Fender Fuse? I have a Fender Mustang v2 and I want the software Fuse to program my amp. Please Fender, don't discontinue Fuse...
They've already done,and since long.
Is the USB as good as the xlr out?
Hi man how if I want to use a volume pedal, how to hook it with the footswitch?
can tap tempo be assigned to a specific footswitch? for example to the FX5 in effects mode
I read that Fender says you can use this combo for bass guitars as well. Is this true and safe especially if you keep the volume low?
They sell the expression pedal at Sweetwater to go with the GTX at checkout..
I would like to try a volume pedal, never have..(old drummer)
Alohaas
@@Guitarburt Wow..
Great video. Have you done a video on how to take a preset and how to make adjustments on all of it's parameters? Much mahalo!
Would the 50W version be too loud for home usage?
I use the 100W version at home and it is doable. There is a point that goes to the Katana and Nextone who can decrease their output to even half a watt.
Looks like a fun amp to play around with, but I probably wouldn't use it for my main rig.
My buddy who is a pro actually uses the 50 watt live
Pretty amazing stuff honestly!:)
What was that wah way pedal?
Nice
Does it reacts as well on low volume?
it does.
Is there a version of these new 20W Fender Mustangs ???
Can you get a good sound pn lower volume? Bedroomvolum?
This amp is amazing, but be prepared to fiddle, and tweak, and download, and delete, pre-sets until you get what you want... Takes a while, but it's worth it.
I liked the V2 Mustang a lot, not too much the GT. Let's test this one...
Btw, are the loudspeakers of these new models full range ones, or special ones?
Just order the GTX50 W/footswitch so stoked and what an amp to be trapped inside the house with!!
Why, with the footswitch it is almost the same price. And the speaker in the 100 is way better.
someone help. should I get this or the fender champion 100?
Get the Champion and acouple of pedals.
What does GTX stand for?
Is this available in India?
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I have a stupid question.. But I was looking for the Deluxe Reverb Tone Master and now I see this I don't really know what buying.. Do you recommend me the tone master or the mustang gtx100 ?
@@thanushpatlolla6436 Thanks, I'll go for the tone master !
I own both and I would say go for the GTX. The Deluxe Reverb emulation in the GTX is excellent and you get a lot more packaged in the GTX
@@STF_YVR I got both now too, I prefer by way the Tone master ! The gtx is really good too if you want a lot of things in one amp
@@MickaelBeaulieu IMHO the Tonemaster is only to be recommended to people who want a Deluxe Reverb emulation for stage use and nothing else. For anyone starting up to practice or record at home the GTX 100 is the better choice: amp models, footswitch, effects, USB audio out, bluetooth, wifi, app … it offers so much more that I felt compelled to react to the advice you have given, sorry
I wish they made a V3 for the classic cyber twin amp... I have the original fender cybertwin and the cybertwin se... greatest modulation amps fender made please bring em back Fender Corps!!!!
Is the mustang gt still compatible for updates? Mine is the older model and it says the update failed
Jack Rochester I have a gt and it updated without fail...just keep trying or find a strong WiFi signal
D G yeah i sorted it now mate,👍🏼
Do you think that Fender will release a version of about 20v? Because I want one with all these features but I don't have the budget or the need to have a 50v
Will there be a gtx200 coming soon? So I can pocket my money and buy that
Is it a good amp for hard rock ?
Can it produce a marshall JCM 800 sound ?
I have mine sounding near identical to my jcm800. It's perfect for studio work and smaller gigs where a huge ass stack is impractical and/or unnecessary.
Obviously you don't get the 4x12 oompf, but again for studio work and smaller gigs it's not needed.
What kind of signal comes out of the XLR Line Outs? is it the DI signal or the AMB/CAB simulated output? pre or post FX?
A really good product … I love my GTX 100 … Thx
Seems like a great tool
As much as I don't need another amp, I need the new GTX. Tube snobs aside, an amp with this much versatility is just awesome for certain scenarios. Especially with the Fender name and at this price point. Thank you Fender! 🤟
Thank you! We appreciate the love! 🎶🔥
@@fender is there a video of anyone just doing a demo primarily on the Fende tone app Community uploads? My main interest in this amp is to see if the Community is very active and if there are uploaded presets for various popular hard rock, metal, blues artists to chose from?
Can you mute the speaker while running output to the PA basically using it as a multieffects processor?
Ya with master volume control. Doesn't affect line out. I use both for full tone.
Hey @Fender glad this came out right after my GT100 craps the bed. Stick to tube amps.... I'll be moving on to a different home studio / practice amp.
If you want to deal with Fender Electronics you've got to put up with all the b******* that comes with it and their crappy technical support and crappy after sell support corp. I don't think Fender has a lot of respect for their customers the way they're treating them in the way they drop service
imma use this as my practice amp!!
Boooo Fender wants your location
Haha lmao this is not practice amp
I have a generation one mustang 3. Still play it everyday and works fine. It doesn't get support anymore but I never used it or even the foot switch anyway.
Mine died in a high moisture environment.
4,000 feet in Kona..the tech said 'Fender said no parts' I should have kept the Celestion!
I have a GTX on the way, and I'm as poor as can be
(Old drummer) Save thousand dollars on pedals
And that looper, I can only imagine.. Alohaas
I'm very happy with my First generation Mustang 3...an incredible amp.
Is this basically the fender mustang lt25. But 100 watt
Does this amp have a good amount of headroom for pedals?
They say it does! But you probably won't need them :)
Please add the quad reverb to the amp selection!!!!!
on the software can you add back up for patches what happens if your crashes or break down when you get it repaired you have to program it again it took several month to get the right sound
Just add the patch to fender gtx application
Make sure to make a backup over wifi every week and you are good to go. It's a very fast method too.
Welp my little frontman has had its golden hour to the closest it shall go
Amps are a thing of the past!
You would think. But I'm sure that it will survive. There is always that feedback from the speaker and the feel that guitar players like. Just like there always will be tube lovers. For me this amp gives me a lot of different amps and effects in a convenient package which i really enjoy. Not to mention the design, wow this is what an amp should look like.
What replacing the amp?
My GTX100 just upgraded itself to version 3.0.96...what's new, changed etc?
Can you plug in a drum box in the Mustang GTX-50 auxiliary input?
Anything with a 1/8 jack
@@TurboMountTV Thx, actually I sucessfully plugged an AKAI MPC one into my Mustang GTX50.
Btw, it also work the other way around I can plug my Mustang amp output into the AAKI MPC one input to record or sample my guitar.
@@arsenmarek597
One thing I never do is combine signals into my instrument amplifier / speaker. It colors the sound of the instrument (guitar in this case) you are playing as the speaker is trying to replicate 2 different things.
I personally wish Fender would leave input jacks, Bluetooth streaming & headphone jacks off serious performing amps.
Leave those features to bedroom toys.
If I want to jam along to drum track or recorded songs I play them through a separate amplifier system.
@@TurboMountTV Sure, but for guitar practice I find it, sometimes, convenient to have a drum box base rythmn instead of the kinda boring metronome beat.
@@arsenmarek597
Ya I get convenience.
But even with practice I prefer purity.
Connect the drum box to a stereo.
For THAT I actually have an old Fender DEC 30 that has multitude of built in back tracks to play along to.
AND has a input jack to amplify any other back track/music/drum box you want to play with.
You can get DEC 30's for under a $100 on eBay now.
Grazie
Did Fender partner with Wampler or someone for effects, or is everything homegrown?
What's the difference between the gtx 100 and the gt 100 with the new firmware update?
Hola. Tengo muchos problemas con este producto pues no me deja usar la app para usar los presets. La app no se sincronice con el amp, no se su la app no está acondicionada para ser usada en México o cual sea el problema. Ni el mismo soporte técnico de Fender México me han podido ayudar
I really want this amp, but I'm not sure what's the best choice, gtx100 or gt 200?
