    I'm also getting small cuts on my malleolus, nothing that longer socks can solve. Nike's gimmicks and flashy colors are not my cup of tea, glad to have found a monochromatic model and realize that zoom 2 is way better than the nano XI I used to have.

      Yeah, that caught me off guard, tbh! I never have issues with 99% of the trainers I review. Will def be wearing long socks for the remainder of my tests.
      FEEL THAT. Black, white, gray, or gum - that's all we need, LOL.

    Been waiting for your review. Had mine for about two weeks. I went up a size and they fit perfect. I'm boxing and strength training. They are holding up good no stress rips. Usually wait for your reviews but I jumped for these when nike offered them to me thru member access.

      That’s honestly the perfect blend of activities/training styles for those shoes.
      So stoked they’re holding up well for you! I’m hoping mine were just a one-off random occurrence, but we’ll see with more time.

    Hey Jake, as always my man you brought us another solid video! I bought the Mint/Black combo Metcon Turbo 2 because, well, I have way too many black shoes and needed some pop! Now I never tried on or wore the first Turbo so I don't have that comparison, however, I agree on the Metcon 4 feel to the Turbo 2s. I have used the Turbo 2s at the gym and it has helped me push passed my PR in squats and it's a very solid shoe for Deadlifts. I can wear these all day and my feet don't hurt. I have flat feet and they are on the wider side but they fit perfectly in the Turbo 2s. Really the only bad thing I have to say about the Turbo 2s is the shoelaces. I understand Nike was trying to use lighter material and make it so the laces don't come loose with the waxy feel to them. But, I would prefer laces like on the Metcon 4s because I never had to tighten those up. I still think the Turbo 2s are a solid shoe and I haven't tried running in them yet. If I can put my two cents in, I would give these an 8 out of 10.

      When the full review goes live next week, I would love for you to add more thoughts once you've gotten more sessions in with your model. It helps add depth to these videos and I personally always read comments so I'm sure these comments help others a ton, too!

      @@thatfitfriend Thanks for the reply! I currently wear Pegasus to run the mile and then change into New Balance Minimus for HIIT or lifting. With the barbell I only do back squats around 255x3 and DL 285x5. I bought some Metcon 7s but haven’t taken them out yet. I know Metcons aren’t great for running but hoping to just use one shoe. Interested to hear what you think. Thanks again!

      @@alberth6929 In that case, you could likely get away with the Metcon 7s, but if you're used to the cushion of the Pegasus then the 7s may feel uncomfortable. For a hybrid-style trainer where I know I'm running a little bit, I usually opt for a Nano X2 or RAD ONE.
      If you like the 7s though, then give them a go and test and see! You might find that they're plenty fine for your needs especially if you're a forefoot/mid-foot striker with running!

      In re: 360: Durability can be hit or miss, honestly. I've met folks who have had the same pair of Xero Shoes for years and others who have had them disappoint around ~6 months in. That being said, I think their durability is typically on pay with more performance-focused barefoot shoe brands. Feel like Xero and Vivo both have a few models that do better and worse than others.

    I just got this shoe and I feel like the construction is weird. The outsole and insole being separate entities makes it feel a little insecure. I feel a “squeak” as I walk and I can feel the insole and outsole moving separately. Does this ever go away? I wanted the Metcon 7 but at 13 there aren’t many options these days, the 8 imo is just ugly. Would the Free Metcon 4 be better? I am not doing much heavy lifting and I’m not a traditional cross fitter but I do want a stable training shoe to train for Spartans.

    • @thatfitfriend
      @thatfitfriend  2 роки тому +1

      Yeah, the squeak does lessen but it’s also something that bothers others a ton, so you’re not alone there. It’s a super polarizing model with its fit/feel, imo.
      Free Metcon 4 wouldn’t be as “stable” per se, but it would get the job done for general stuff. I wouldn’t lift more than 315 lb in squat/dead in the FM4, but if you’re keeping things lighter and training more or less with athletic-style work to prep for Spartans, then you should be fine with them, imo!

    Last year’s turbo’s are nice, but don’t seem necessary considering the 6’s are such an excellent shoe. In my opinion, even less relevant this time because the 7’s are such an incredible shoe. How much market is in the space? I don’t see what the motive is for Nike to make the turbo.

    • @thatfitfriend

      Three good options:
      Haze Trainer - awesome for lifting and gives your foot good mobility
      RAD ONE - great all-arounder and solid for CrossFit workouts if you ever throw them into the mix
      Metcon 7/Nano X2 - good all-arounders as well. Nano X2 is a bit more forgiving for adding in a mile here and there

    How do you feel wearing "normal" shoes after jumping on the minimal/barefoot train? I rarely wear my metcon 6's anymore since getting a pair of vivo primus lite 3's bc they just feel bulky in comparison!

    • @thatfitfriend
      @thatfitfriend  2 роки тому +5

      Great question! It really depends on the workout and my current fatigue level. For example, if I have plyos programmed after one of my running days, then I welcome the feel of training shoes and the added level of cushion.
      However, when I'm fresh I like barefoot shoes. It's odd rotating so often because I have to constantly shift my brain before workouts to prep for the different mechanics that come along with each style of footwear. I've also noticed that I like barefoot shoes for lower volume sessions whereas I like trainers for somewhat longer sessions and I think that's due to the volume of training/testing I'm doing atm!

    I love the shoe. I wear long socks so it cutting into my foot isn’t an issue but I can feel it through my sock a tad. I do love the zoom air pocket also, though you can feel it “creak” under my foot. Not a huge issue but if you hated the Metcon squeak you will hate this too. I love that’s it’s more rigid as my foot “floated” too much in the first version which would cause my foot to just move too much in the shoe. With the Turbo 2 it’s not an issue for me. Hopefully durability isn’t a concern as the shoe has a ton to offer as a great all around choice for fitness and CrossFit.
