If you ask me which the stronger shoe is, I'm going to give the edge to the Adidas Dropset Trainer 2.
The Dropset Trainer 2 works exceptionally well for lifting, it feels athletic when jumping and doing agility work, and it works decently well for CrossFit.
The Nike Metcon 9 isn't necessarily a "bad" training shoe, but compared to prior Nike Metcon models I think this is one of the weaker models to date.

Great review! I just bought the Metcon 9, along with a pair of UA Project Rock 6. I got both strictly for CrossFit. I've eliminated running from my fitness regimen, so that this type of shoe is not ideal for it, is fine with me. I haven't actually tested my Metcon 9s yet.

i was gifted dropset 1 by my sister and i love them
I was a huge Metcon fan (from 4 to 7) and then I watched your 1st review on the DT 2 (few months ago)... I switched to the DT 2... And clearly have done the correct choice...lighter, room for toes and stable. I use it for general training, crossfit and weight lifting

Been watching some of your reviews for quite a while to help me decide which training shoes to purchase and finally got my Dropset 2 for 2 weeks now! @@thatfitfriend I got around to testing the Dropset 2 today and i have to say that the stability in them is out of this world. I do a lot of squats, in a million different variations, with and without weights and there was such an improvement to the balance that I felt during exercise. Felt my feet perfectly planted on the floor with amazing support thanks to the firm section of the shoe.

Hey Jake! Great vid. How does the ‘felt’ traction compare in these? I’m pretty decided on the Dropset, my only reservation is the traction looks lesser. The entire reason I’m upgrading shows is for traction and flexibility on platforms and pressing sleds.

I'd go Dropset 2 or TriBase Reign 6 or Nano X4. Can't go wrong with any of those, imo!

Hi, Jake, imo thinking to give metcon 9 a try. What would you recommend, My workout mostly is strength, core. I,m casual runner and cyclist. Thinking which Nike trainer shoes suit me. Would like to hear from your advice. Tq
Metcon 9s aren't great for running. If you're not going super heavy (over 315 lbs) then I'd also consider the Nike Free Metcon 5!
I currently own UA Tribase Reign 4 they are great for my lifting sessions. However, I'm looking to incorporate some sprint intervals into my workout, likely after the lifting. Would the Dropset 2 be a better choice for such a workout (lifting and sprinting on treadmill) compared to the Tribase Reign 4?
I think so, tbh! The toe box is a little more lively and pliable in the Dropset 2s and I've enjoyed them for my sprint workouts.
I just ordered a pair of the Dropset 2 today. Can't wait to try them for my deadlift. 😂
Can you do a video on something good for sayy, Orangetheory? They just added strength classes that don't incorporate any running. I prefer these since I started at OTF because my girl didn't want to do Crssft with me but now I'm loving OTF. I still enjoy taking regular (half weight/ half tread) classes often. I need a shoe that's perfect for both! I think a lot of us do actually. SAVE US!

I wacthed alot of your review with these two.And finally just bought dropset2 today ,How long can I use one shoe for just lifting? Can it last for 2 years ? This is the most expensive shoe for me lol.
(And my both feet are the same size but it's kinda hurt at the pinky toe at the right side,try figuring it out)

Yeah,I bought it at the shop and walking around there for 2 hrs and feel uncomfortable.Actually it might because of my right foot's pinky structure.It's fine in the gym,not much walking there.might use it for training only.
And is there different between shoe for men,women, and unisex? They gave me the unisex one.I might have to try the men one next time,that might be more comfortable.
(I got the color black with grey camouflage, it's very cool😂.btw I'm 26.3 cm H,10.7 cm W.bought 9us unisex)

It sounds like the adidas would be great for stability (not forcing or allowing medial or lateral tipping) and comfortablity for a slow pace walking shoe. Correct? Note: I am female, over 50, and approx. 390 lbs. I have best pain free with low drop (eg. Nike free 7) but looking for a more shock absorbing shoe. You seem to have great insight and I would appreciate your help. Thanks! :)
Both of these could work in that context. The Adidas will be a little more comfortable for walking, though! Thank you!

DROPSET 2 all the way
I wanted to buy the dropsets but they look ugly to me :/
Some colorways look better than the white.
Dropset are terrible if you live in a rainy area or plan to wear them outside. Water comes in through the bottom vent holes while walking out to your car. Super gross feeling. I otherwise loved them, but don't want to have to bring another pair of shoes with me.
The Nike Metcon 9 looks like someone attempted a repair with duct tape
